Shelby lives in a gentler time, with her father and brother. As she grows into womanhood she learns that the church across the river has much more to offer her life than the beautiful sound of the ringing bells that Mamma loved so much. As she develops in her relationship with Jesus Christ Shelby is torn between two young men and the chance to become a teacher. With God's guidance she is able to make the right decision.
A sweet, clean story. You can trust this one for as young as 13 and as old as 100.
This book is appropriate for women and teen girls.

I found this story an inspiration of family, faith and love. The message of waiting upon the Lord and seeking His guidance was meaningful. The story covers five years in the life of Shelby along with her family and friends. It has heartache, friendship, anger, resentment, forgiveness and love. The characters and dialogue are heartwarming and emotional. The message of God's love and His forgiveness is told in such a way that you don't feel you are being preached at, but embraced in His love. We all need to put our life and trust into God's hands. When we turn our back on God, He is always waiting with open arms for our return. Disclosure: I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Truly beautiful story. This really is a lovely story suitable for a wide range of ages. It is faith based but written very well and very realistic. I love how the author introduced the challenges and how the characters dealt with them. There is a wide range of emotions in this story and that with great characters keep me reading. This is a book I highly recommend. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
Loved the setting. The house sitting across the river from the church. The bells rang on Sunday. They called the people it was time for God to meet them at church. When the person became a Christian, they wanted to do Gods will. Loved this story of trust and faith
I really enjoyed this longer novel and learning about all the characters. I enjoyed seeing all their transformations and seeing them experience things in God's time. It was a wonderful read and I kept finding myself wanting to get back to it when I was doing other things.
