Man-whore Lark meets virginal Azurdee.

But Lark wasn't always a man-whore, he used to be in love with Nicki, the woman he was going to marry, until she was killed in a car accident. Because of that, he now "guards his heart" by never developing feelings for any woman. Until Azurdee.

Azurdee is a 26 year-old coffee shop owner who happens to be a virgin. The first time they meet they realize they have some sort of 'connection'. But because Lark is the love 'em and leave 'em type of man, he'd rather have a nice piece of ass than deal with virginal Azurdee, no matter how beautiful he thinks she is.

Months later, they meet again in their best friend's wedding. At this point, Azurdee knows she wants Lark to be the one to take her virginity. So as soon as they're dancing and even though she brought a date, she's all over him.

“Do you want to be with me, Azurdee?”
“Yes.”
“Azurdee, no, you don’t.”
“Yes. Yes, I do. I want to be with you, Lark. I want you to make love to me.”
“You don’t know what you’re saying, baby.”
“Yes, I do. I want you, Lark. I want to get to know you…please let me.”

Well, at least, she knows how to beg Lark.

As a womanizer, it takes little to no effort to convince Lark. Meanwhile Azurdee is mentally panicking...

“What do I say? So, hey, are you going to take me to bed now and rob me of my virginity?”

Rob you? What is he gonna do -- rape you? You were begging him to take you to bed.

Mind you, after they do it, not only once but four times the same night. (Yes, virgins nowadays can have sex more than once in one night.) Lark leaves in the middle of the night upon being called for a mission.
Up to this point, things are okay until Lark returns after a few days later and he can't live without Azurdee. All of the sudden, he's a one-girl kinda guy again. I thought I had missed a few pages but no. He comes back saying things like, "you own me forever" "I'm yours forever" yes, that's all nice but why the change? It seemed odd he'd be so desperate to be with her. He's been 'countless women ' over the years so what makes Azurdee special?
And Azurdee, did I mention she's slightly doormat? Not completely but she does a lot of what he says even if she doesn't fully agree. He says he doesn't want to talk about his 'job'. Done. She can't never ask anything about it. He leaves out of the blue for a week or three weeks. Does she ask what's he's doing? Nope. Not a peep.
He fucks her in the ass without asking her first? That's okay, she enjoyed it. (This chick acts more like a professional porn star than a recent ex-virgin)

Then she finds out his big secret and what does she do? Nothing. She keeps saying the same line over and over again, "make love to me." It was getting boring. The sex scenes are repetitive. I skipped a few. They're all the same.

I can easily tell you there's no drama for the first 2/3 of the book. Then something happens that make Lark break it off with Azurdee and what does she do? She goes to a club to find a rebound fuck. *rolling eyes*

In all, the struggle was real trying to finish this one. It's a rare day I DNF a book because I like to think it'll get better. The story NEVER got better, in fact, I had to talk myself a few times before I threw my IPad across the room.
Would I recommend this? Obviously the story wasn't for me, I never warmed up to the main characters and I had a few WTF moments with their actions.

Sometimes you just need a good old fashioned sweep you off your feet romance that is hot and steamy all while angst filled. Well, then you need to read Kelly Elliott!

That is exactly what you get with this read.! Nothing better than big beautiful man finding his forever kind of love with just one look, one touch and one simple Hey!

Michael "Lark" Williams is a known womanizer. He lost love at a young age and now guards his heart to the extreme. He lives on the edge with his job and with his loose ways. He is always up for a challenge, so when he comes face to face with a beautiful and sweet Azurdee he has no idea why she affects him...perhaps its that intact "V card" or maybe the way she sees right thru his bullshit! For Azurdee, love exists...it is worth waiting for...it is right in front of him!

What ever the case...they have a friendly relationship over the course of a year all while desperately wanting to get horizontal with one another. When Azurdee finally decides that Lark is the one she wants...GAME ON!

Let me say that Kelly Elliott can write the hell out of sex scene...thank goodness there is plenty of those abound in this book, lol! So in typical Elliott fashion...their relationship is fast, furious, hot and very heartfelt. But its not really complete with the drama right? Well, there is an issue as to what Lark does for a living. Little unknown facts and lies tend to lead to misunderstandings and attempts to keep the ones you love save sometimes means giving everything up...yep, here comes the sad characters, the cry fest, the don't leave me moments!!!

This wasn't anything new or out of the box. It was a bit repetitive, but I will say, I didn't care. I needed a read like this! I have girl crushed on Lark for quite a while so I was left quite satisfied with he and Azurdee's journey!

3 ⭐⭐⭐ - OK decent reads.
======================
Reread in March 2022
======================
Manwhore who fucks everything that has a hole and breathes. Everywhere they go they find one of the women he fucked. Disgusting!
Heroine is a virgin and became a nymphomaniac as soon as she lost her virginity. LOL!
Dramalhama on crack.
But it was even a decent read.

I trusted her just like she trusted me. I would never think of even looking at another girl. I loved her and planned on asking her to marry me this Christmas. She was the perfect girl to marry. My parents liked her. She had a good head on her shoulders and I knew I could trust her. It was a perfect match.

“Our Nikki is gone, Michael. She and the girls all died instantly.”

After Nikki’s death I vowed to never let another woman say my name when I fucked them. So I started going by my middle name. “Sorry darling. I’m not interested in a relationship.”

“Went and had a quick fuck in the bathroom.” Scott sat back and sighed. “Jesus, Lark.”

All they are good for is a good hard fuck.

Azurdee Emerson. She filled my thoughts almost daily, except when I was on a mission. That was the only place she hadn’t invaded my world.

She’s just another pussy. You’ve seen one; you’ve seen them all.

I just needed to either fuck this girl or completely ignore her.

“I love French toast.” Nikki used to make me French toast all the time.

Motherfucker, she has a nice body. No way is this girl still a virgin.

The only time I want a woman screaming is when I’m giving her an orgasm.

“Good. I need to get laid.” “Oh, really nice, Lark. Do not bring a girl back here!” Jessie called after me.

“Yes, I do. I want you, Lark. I want to get to know you…please let me.”

“You! I want you and I want you to make me yours.” I yelled out in a shaky voice. “I need to feel you inside me, Lark. Please.”

She was the first person since Nikki to wake something up that I had buried so deep down that I almost forgot it even existed.

No condom would make the emotions too raw. Too real. Every girl I’d been with since Nikki had always been just about the sex. Nothing more.

No girl’s touch ever affected me like this. I don’t even remember it feeling like this with Nikki. It must be from not wearing a condom. It had to be. Guarda mi corazón.

The look in his eyes changed and he almost seemed scared. “I’m…I’m yours, Azurdee.”

Why would I be something he feared? Was he thinking of her? Did he compare me to her? A million thoughts started running through my head.

I can’t let her in.

And it had been the first time I’d slept in a bed with another girl since Nikki.

I rolled my eyes and let out a sigh. Now that Azurdee was in the picture, I wasn’t sure how to handle the whole Sherry thing.

My dick jumped at the idea of fucking Sherry in the ass.

In this moment I knew I had given my heart and soul to Lark Williams and that I would love him forever unconditionally.

But did I love her? I’ve only ever loved one person and it brought nothing but heartache. No. I needed to protect myself from that. Guarda mi corazón siempre.

We walked up to the elevator and Janice was standing there. Oh great. I’d fucked her one time against her car in the garage and ever since then she had been looking for a repeat.

This is my friend Azurdee. Are you fucking him? Is that all this was? Was that all I would ever be to Lark—his friend?

“Lindsay?” Lindsay smiled and nodded her head. Fuck me. Her family had owned the beach house next to ours since I could remember. The last time I was here we had hooked up and fucked in her hot tub…twice.

“Um…can you hand me a towel so I can get out?” Lindsay started laughing. “Please. It’s not like I haven’t seen it before.”

“What you are feeling, honey, is true love. A love like this doesn’t come along to everyone. Embrace it. Shelter it. Nurture it, and never take it for granted.”

4 Lark and Azure Stars

I first read this book back in 2014 ,pre GR review days , and at that time it was a 5 star read for me. I still really enjoyed going back to the characters and the world they are in but my tastes have changed a little so it was a 4 star this time.

We met Lark and Azurdee in Cherished and their book kicks off a new series but there are still cameo appearances by characters from the Wanted Series.

This is very much a similar pattern of insta love , someone keeping something a secret , couple break up and danger or drama ensues before a passionate reunion.

An enjoyable re read for sure.

HEA? Yes
Cheating? Azurdee nearly has sex with someone after Lark splits up with her but they don't go further than some touching.

I have to say that this is in the top 3 worst books I have ever read or attempted to, Totally unbelievable characters a 26 year old virgin sees a hot guy twice and the have sex and it doesnt hurt her at all, oh yea and of course she is the only one he has had sex with raw. Before all of this im going to say in less that 15 pages in the male character loses his girlfriend in a car accident and therefore he becomes a manwhore who wants to have a relationship with this said girl I mentioned earlier he found the one who would change him forever less than 30 pages into the book. Honestly no emotional connection whatsoever in this book honestly just very bad. Im so shocked.

Series: Journey of Love #1

Rating: No rate. Stoping at 30%

Review: Guarda mi corazón.

I have read a book by this author before and I liked it. I looked up a couple of her other series she had and found this and decided to give it a go.

The prologue to this book was amazing and full of feeling. Once I started chapter one it started to go down hill. Yeah that early. Lark is at his best friend's wedding. He keeps looking at Azurdee. The had met a year ago and felt a pull toward each other. The story kept going back and forth between the present and past. It was highly annoying.

In Wanted Gunner and Ellie were OTT but you got to see the love grow between them. In this book oh no not that. These two are already jumping in the sack at chapter three and have the insta-love feeling. They don't tell each other what their true feeling are at first but the insta-love is there and I didn't feel it.

There was no build up to their romance. (Hello that's why I read these books!)

I was bored with their story. A typical virgin and player love story. Now don't get me wrong I love that typical story but not this one. The MCs just weren't believable to me. I wanted to smash my head against the wall just to help me get through this. Now I was feeling all of this by chapter nine. Not very far into the book.

I'm not DNFing I'm just putting off for a later date. Right now I have no drive to even continue with this story.

I was reading the part where Nikki's parents told Michael about the accident, while at the same time I was listening to Boyce Avenue's 'Demon' cover, 'I say it's up to fate, it's wovin' in my soul, I need to let you go' came... I was... arghhh *shiver

This is the ratings that I gave the novels that I've read before this; 3 - 0 - 3 - 2 - 1 - 2 - 0 - 3
The last one was The Intern Vol. 2, so as you can see, I'm not a happy reader since June 21! I've read the prologue of Rusty Nailed but when I saw that there's a new Kelly Elliott novel,I dropped it and read this one instead. I haven't felt such excitement in reading a novel for awhile....

I like Lark's POV coz Azurdee's first POV... it was just too cheezy! I ilke all Kelly Elliott's novels and I don't know why I didn't know about this novel coming out, she has a way with words. I get to connect with the characters and get to feel their emotions and the love scenes, it's not boring. I've read many books and most of them contains love scenes but even some erotica books like the most recent novella that I've read entitled One Night didn't make me feel a tad bit hot.

What I love about Kely Elliott's novels is, it's packed, it's a full length novel, I've been reading for hours but I was still at 50% of the story!!

Damn! Kelly E. Strikes again! I so cannot wait to read Ryn & Tristans's story, poor Ryn, I hope she gives Tristan a hard time getting her back coz the asshole totally deserves it.

I think I've been reading for almost 10 hours and still have a long way to go and I'm like 'oh god, isn't this gonna end!?' 10 hours = 66%, that's just crazy! Or maybe I just got used to reading shorter novels that I could finish in 8 hours and of course, novella's. They're everywhere!

After the bombing and forgiveness, etc. I kind of just skipped here and there. The novel was stretched too thin and wished the author just went straight for the wedding then epilogue.

I cannot wait to read Undeniable Love! Please, Ryn! Make that fucker go down on his knees and beg you til he shit bricks! Gah! effin asshole! Wait, WTF?!?!

FALL 2015!?!?!? I think I'm the one who's gonna shit bricks...

“You are all that matters to me. I forgot about every girl I’d ever been with the moment you gave yourself to me. I swear to you, Azurdee. You’re my everything. I love you and you are the only woman I’ve ever loved like this. I want to spend the rest of my life with you.” Him

Instant love... but true love. He's initially a player that sleeps with every girl until he meets her. He's military and has secrets for work. She's a virgin 🙄 ... and they fuck like rabbits (not realistic)... overall good.

I don't understand nor do I sympathize with people that play games with each others emotions. This book started off pretty decent but then the whole club scene put me off big time. The H refers to the h as friends and then hands her over to one of his friends like shes some whore to be passed around. And she allows it. He then comes back takes her back to his place where he starts to bone her like a random one night stand and then abandons her. So because of his own hang up he plays with her emotions. She cries herself to sleep and then when he comes to his senses she comforts him like hes the victim. Are you fucking kidding me? Shes a spineless idiot. Fast forward thru the decent story to when he breaks up with her for her own good. So they're both a mess. Enter the stereotypical slutty friend that passes the h over to her fuck buddy to just get laid. WHAT?! The h let's this random guy, who shes never met before, finger her and about to bone her. But stops. Ugh ugh ugh!!! What?! This is all just gross. At the end the H and h deal with their issues and have their happily ever after. The story was ok but these characters are just immature idiots.

After a tragic accident that happened in college, Michael swears off love and begins going by his middle name Lark. He enlists in the Marines, then leads a secret dangerous life as a CIA military operative. He is content with his life. That is until a hot virgin named, Azurdee Emerson, strolls into his life and turns it all around. I truly enjoyed reading about their journey and recommend it to others.

** BETH'S 3.5 STAR REVIEW **

Lark (a.k.a. Michael) Williams was once in love back in his early college days, but after his girlfriend died in a tragic car accident, he vowed to never let anyone in…Guardia mi corazon siempre…Guard my heart always. From that day on he became a man-whore, never letting anyone get close, that was until Azurdee came along, from the moment he met her, she made him feel things he hadn’t felt in a long time…hadn’t felt them since Nikki.

Azurdee is a 26 year old coffee shop owner who also guards her heart and her virginity, that is until she meets Lark and it stirs up feelings inside of her that she has never experienced before. But knowing what Lark is like, she steers clear of him until almost a year later after their first meeting she no longer wants to fight those feelings and decided that he’s THE ONE to give her v-card to.

When these two finally connect the night of their best friends’ wedding, they truly knock it off the HOT & SEXY chart and the chemistry between these two is intense. Shortly after them finally coming together, he is mysteriously called away for work several times to a job she knows nothing about, he doesn’t say much about it and she doesn’t ask. Although as time progresses she starts to learn bits and pieces, he is actually still in the Marines and what he is doing is very top secret and very dangerous.

Unconditional Love is the first book in the Journey of Love series but also my first book to read by Kelly Elliott. It is an enjoyable read and it is well written but I didn’t love it as much as I thought I would after reading the synopsis. I loved the storyline of the book but found myself wanting more from the story, especially in the first half, and wished there was a lot less sex. Don’t get me wrong, I love my sex scenes and the author writes a really good one, there was just too many for my liking. I found myself around the 20% mark skimming the sex scenes for the rest of the book. I also would have loved to see more build up with these two. I realized after reading this book that these two are characters from another book so maybe the buildup was in those but I really would have like to see more buildup in this one before these two hooked it. For me, she seemed too quick to give away her v-card, especially to someone who is known to be a man whore and once she did, it felt too insta-love to me. They also both seemed to do a 180 degree switch with personality when they did come together, he went from man whore to claiming her as “MINE” that first night. She went from innocent virgin to sex goddess, it was all too much & too quick of a change in the way they were.

Overall I enjoyed the book and would recommend it to others, it was a good well written storyline and will be definitely be checking out the next book in the series, excited to read Tristan’s book.

~~ 5 Stars ~~

It's another great book by Kelly Elliott. I have to say that even though we met Lark and Azurdee in the Wanted Series (Cherished Book #4) this one felt different from that series. This one had the same basic elements that a Kelly Elliott book has but she added some suspense and thrills into the book. We still got a wonderful love story that had some really steamy scenes, but we got so much more because of Lark's job. Lark was a different kind of Hero also, compared to her typical cowboy. He was just as swoony but he was also a bad ass too. To me he was a lot more of an Alpha male compared to her past Heroes. I thought it was a refreshing change :)

If you are a fan of Kelly Elliott or the Wanted Series…then you don't want to miss this book. This is one I will for sure read again in the future :)

One of the best love stories I’ve ever read!!

I love most of Kelly Elliot’s books and series, but I think this one is my new favorite!! (This review will contain some slight spoilers so beware).

I pretty loved everything about this book. I read it in one sitting. I couldn’t put it down. I absolutely loved Lark and Azurdee together from the very first moment they met. I did hate that Lark had become a total manwhore but that all stops when he can’t get Azurdee out of his mind and he decides to start a relationship with her. It happens very early in the book which I loved! Most of this book is them falling in love with each other and it was amazing to read.

There is a separation and it was really kind of gut wrenching to see them apart. But when they are finally brought back together (and it isn’t too long). It was so satisfying and beautiful. I usually read my books on KU, but I paid for this one and I’m so glad that I did. This is definitely one I will read again and again!

I liked Azurdee and Lark when they showed up in the Wanted series. So when this book showed up and it was them I was intrigued. The Wanted series is so filled with drama, that I was more than a bit surprised when this book was pretty drama free, it was a good thing!

I liked that one Lark decided he was going to try things with Azurdee, they both were all in, there was no other people, just them. I hate to say it, but I felt like there was too much sex in the book. It seemed like every other scene was a sex scene, I get it, they connected, and without all the drama I guess that left little else. But with that said, I liked how things played out for the most part, that Azurdee didn't pry into Lark's job, but let him go each time. The ending was perfect for the couple.

I also found myself intrigued with Lark's brother, Tristian, and the cluster of a situation that he got himself into. It will be interesting where things with him.

I read all the books in the Wanted series and although they were cute she used the same phrases over and over, especially "throws head back and laughs." God that phrase was so annoying. This book however was not like that at all. Not only was the storyline really good the writing was so much better than that of the Wanted series. Lark and Azurdee had a whirlwind romance full of love and secrets. Those secrets are what Lark fears will destroy his relationship with her.
Lark turned out to be the sexiest character so far and that's saying a lot because Josh was hot in the bedroom!
*SPOILER ALERT*
Their wedding was amazing, but I might be biased because their wedding song was my wedding song, so that won me over. When he started singing the song to her I had flash backs of my own first dance. My husband softly sang the song to me as we danced and it was one of the best moments about my wedding.

Ugh this book is just constant sex scenes and hardly anything else. It was boring and any time Lark and Azurdee see each other they have sex. Move into a different room, they have sex, go back to the other room, they have sex. Hardly any drama until the end and definitely a weak storyline. I prefer my books to have a strong, solid storyline with in depth character development with sex scenes in between. This book is sex, sex, sex, oh yea plot, sex sex sex. And what really drives me nuts is when an author doesn't do research. I married a Marine. For example, their uniforms are called CAMIS or digitals, which is a Marine term, not fatigues, which is an army term. Not my kind of read when there's no plot and no research done.

OMG I just want to say I love a man in uniform. Lark has one tortured past and Azurdee is definitely the girl to bring him into the light. He is such a man whore and normally that bothers me, but in this book, I immediately fall in love with him. Azurdee is a good girl but has one helluva dirty side ;-) This book definitely tears at my heart. I think I cried at least 3 times. Kelly knows how to get you into a book and make you never want to leave. I never want their story to end.

I am about 1/3 done reading and So far this is what happens:

1. He needs to guard his heart.

2. She has no will.

3. They screw.

Period. Nothing more. I hope something happens because I am bored to death!

Edit: yup, I am giving up and confirming one, but only because I couldn’t give zero stars!
