After spending an incredible night with Mr. Chef Suave (Aiden Colburn), Sarah Kinsely discovers that he may not be all that he seems.
In Coming Back Sarah struggles as she tries to piece her life together once again as more than just her relationship with the steamy chef begins to fall apart.
Will Sarah Kinsely get her happy ending after all?
C.J. Berry is an award winning copywriter by day and steamy romance writer by night. Ever since she was a little girl she has carried a book around with her everywhere she went. In college she discovered Nora Roberts, Maya Banks, H.M. Ward and other great romance writers and decided to make a career out of writing.
She tries to write erotic romance with characters that make you laugh, cry and swoon. She loves a happy ending but doesn’t like when they come easy and her writing reflects that.
Most of her writing is inspired by true events and personal experience. It has been a complete hoot for her to write it all down and relive those moments.
When she is not writing she is reading, running, crafting or spending time with her kids in her beloved hometown of Portland, Oregon.
Ok so... Spoiler alert do NOT continue reading if you don't want to know what's happening in this series so far!
Sarah moved to Portland from New York in book 1, she was fleeing a bad relationship in which she caught her boyfriend Jake in bed with another man. (Yes, you read that right) After her first week on the job a group of girls she works with, including her boss, take her out to a restaurant where she meets the head chef, Aiden. He's gorgeous, all the girls are drooling over him and a couple other chefs in the place, but Sarah is not interested. She ends up leaving the restaurant early and the following day her boss tracks her down to guilt trip her into going out with them again.
Sarah's torn. She doesn't really want to go, but she wants to fit in with these women because she has no one else in Portland to lean on for support. They take her to Aiden's mansion, and end up ditching her there. She has a little more wine than she should and decides to sleep with Aiden, who has been flirting with her non stop. They spend the night together and the following day, and then she returns home.
Thefolloing day Sarah receives a text from Aiden, only he has text the wrong number and the message is intended for one of Sarah's coworkers. And this is where the book takes a wrong turn. END BOOK ONE
Sarah gets so upset, she calls in to work for several days and wallows in her house, then when she finally does go to work she ends up nearly sleeping with her boss. She is still upset over the man she spent a whole day with, and is not communicating anything that's going on with her to anyone, including Aiden and the traitorous coworker.
Now, realistically what would you say to Sarah if she was your friend? Snap the hell out of it! Right? She's acting like she was in a relationship with this guy, when in reality it was a night and day. I didn't even bond with my cat that fast. This is as far as I am so far, and I really want to just smack this girl and tell her to put her big girl panties on and get over it! Let's hope the rest of this book isn't filled with Sarah's pity party, because it's a real doozy.
I really thought the first part of this book was cool...we were left with a big cliffhanger when Sarah thought her new work buddies had set her up with hot chef Aiden as a cruel prank...a mean girls type of hazing incident...and her "friend" Lizzie was the ringleader. In this installment I was really hoping for a big payoff and a wham bang of a resolution...instead it was more of a "meh" no big deal (in my opinion) and the actual explanation for what really was going on was not what I was expecting, turning this book from dark and sexy to more sweet and emotional. Sarah's boss Brandon turns out to be a big jerk sleaze...everything is a HUGE misunderstanding with the girls and Aiden's "Lizzie text" is all cleared up with a surprising twist. A sweet and not so wild after all love story...ok if you like HEA endings but completely not what I was expecting after reading the first book.
**** 4 **** "jumping to the way wrong conclusions" stars
While I liked the premise in the first book and wanted to know the resolution of the cliffhanger, I was disappointed in the sequel. Sarah's initial reaction to the betrayal at the end of book 1 was a little over the top, comparable to Bella's reaction to Edward leaving in Meyer's "New Moon," but while Bella was a teenager, Sarah was an adult, making her behavior seem a bit juvenile. While that might have been excused by saying it was a response to how deeply she felt about Aiden, her subsequent actions continued to ridiculously escalate until it was finally too much and I had absolutely no respect for her character at all. A small bit of that was regained at the end, but it wasn't enough to redeem her previous behavior.
This girl is a serious drama queen. OMG, I felt like I was reading a book about a teenage girl going through their daily drama with their friends. I seriously wanted to slap her upside her head for being such an idiot!
I hated Sarah. She wasn't too bad in the first book, but she took one text, blew it completely out of proportion, and then had a total meltdown over a guy she'd just met. Her assumptions were so far beyond what insane as to just be laughable, except all I wanted to do was punch her in her stupid face. Then she learns the truth (after risking her job because she's just soooo depressed ABOUT A MAN SHE JUST MET) and still doubts him. I wouldn't want anything to do with that psycho, either as Aiden or any of the girls. Then there was the completely unnecessary crap with Brandon. Why? And the epilogue didn't make much sense, either, but by that point I was just glad it was over. And seriously, how long were they dating before he proposed? I need to wash my brain out with another book.
Sarah misunderstands an e mail she receives and it makes her life miserable. Follow along with her as she finds out the real truth and turns her life around. Good story. Well written, interesting.
3.5 STARS~ Sarah has to return to work and face Peyton & Lizzy after receiving Aiden's text. The problem is that even after taking off a week to recover, she's still not sure that she can make it through the day and face the women who she once thought could become good friends. Add to that the fact that Aiden has started coming by her home & work looking for her and the woman is a wreck. And all though she'd like to shut them all out, in a moment of weakness, she admits to Aiden what he did to cause her to push him away and finds that it was all one HUGE misunderstanding. Now, Sarah's left to clean up the mess she made when she automatically assumed the worst.
I loved book 1, but felt book 2 fell a little short. It was a very quick read, which was part of the problem. I think the characters could have been developed a little more and I would've loved more insight into what happened between Sarah & Aiden after the end of the last chapter & the epilogue.
This is book 2 of the series. Lease read 1. Pretty good. Read others reviews before I decided to buy it. Liked it. Sarah is still in a funk after funding out that Aiden (her chief) was hooking up with a co-worker too. She goes a week without work and talking to anyone. Than comes to work to have one of the owners/boss (Brandon) asks her to dinner. Later finds he likes her more than an employee. She freaks again. Aiden keeps trying to talk to her and win her back. When she finds out the truth she has a lot of apologizing to do. She even apologizes to her co-workers and starts her new life in Portland.
Coming back, part 2 of Sarah Kinsley's story surprised me, in a good way. After the cliffhanger ending book one I did not expect this one to turn out as it did, I'm glad it did don't get me wrong, I loved both books, love all the characters and the dynamics between them. It's a great read, you won't be sorry for picking these 2 books up =)
It was good to see that there things worked out for the best, and we were able to get closure in this final installment of this book. It's a short read, that does sort of hold your interest through to the end. I don't want to say more because I don't want to give anything, but if you need a quick distraction, this is it.
This author has something special I just can't put my finger on. I enjoy the characters, like the building of the story and enjoy the descriptors. Unfortunately, everything just feels so rushed that I can't be completely in love with the books. And I SO wish I could.
Oh dear what can I say....it just didn't work. Sarah was so annoying I wanted to strangle her. Drama Queen is an understatement. That's all I'll say. It has a HEA and that does have a twist. As I said in my review of instalment one this only costs 3.00 so form your own opinion.
Well what a lovely story. wasn't sure what to expect after book 1. The story seemed to turn around to another surprising direction. Some parts were rushed and left hanging but overall a quick read. wonder if there will be a part 3 in the future. not sure there needs to be. enjoyable though
This was a very cute series. I am a sucker for romance. I enjoy happy endings, and strong independent female characters that love Alpha males. This series was just that.
well the first book left me wanting so much more! the book was good, just predictable and too short. I just wanted more, it had potential. The cover is super hot though!
a little short but very sweet love story. had some funny parts with her friends as well. I wish it could have been a little longer but still worth the read.
2 starts because it was a cute story but both books could have been combined into 1. It had potential to be a great series...The book cover was the hottest thing about the book
