4 Heart Worthy Stars!

The Review:
Ghost Heart is book three in The PSS Chronicles series by Ripley Patton and is a YA/NA PNR. I’ve been a huge fan of this series since the first thrilling and original book, “Ghost Hand”. And in book two, “Ghost Hold” I was blown away by how much the story progressed, how much emotion it evoked in me and how in love with the characters I was. And though I really enjoyed this book, for me, it wasn’t as exciting as the previous two. And I didn’t get the feelings or emotions from this read I had in the previous two books.

Don’t get me wrong, I liked it, it was a bit slow paced compared to the first two books, the love and romance aspect between Marcus and Olivia was nonexistent and some of the characters took drastic turns which left me wishing and wanting for "more", but the story itself progressed and left me “wowed” by the events and actions within. I also really enjoyed the change up in POV’s and I enjoyed getting to know more of the characters that were previously side notes.

Thoughts...
A lot of the story is told from Passion’s POV and though she could feel Olivia, I wanted her to “feel” Olivia when her torture was happening. I wanted someone there with Olivia, helping her, making her feel like there was hope and I felt like Passion could have been that force. Not to mention, none of the things Olivia was going through was relayed back to her group, other than, she needed help and a general location of where she was. I was just hoping with that connection, there would have been “more”.

I’d grown very fond of Markus and Olivia as a couple and in this book, they spend absolutely no time with each other and they have no scenes together. After being rescued from the events that happened in book two, Markus has lost his memory of the last eight months and though he gets flashes of a girl he can’t remember, he feels nothing more for her than a curiosity for who she might be. I wished the author had shown Markus’s dreams of her so we knew what he was thinking, feeling and perhaps thrown us a bone and some angsts over her situation and him trying to figure out who she was. Also, I’d grown used to Markus being this hero, this leader, this young man of power but because he can’t remember his cause, he just seemed like window dressing in this book and I missed the “other” Markus.

Poor Olivia! That girl went through so much in this book. Being held captive by the CAMPers and being tortured, studied and tested on left her vulnerable in ways she never thought possible. However, there was a well of self-doubt, pain, angst, loneliness and hurt that could have been tapped but those emotions weren’t a part of this story and that disappointed me. She’s locked away and alone for the most part and though I liked her strenght and her determination to get through it all, I didn’t see much residual struggle or pain. She wasn’t suffering PTSD, she wasn’t closed off, she wasn’t stowing her feelings behind a glass wall and she wasn’t shattered like you’d expect from someone enduring the things she’s going through. I guess I just expected her to “feel” more and in return, me to “feel” more.

The Wrap Up:
Regardless of the lack of “feels” in this book, this author truly impresses me with how well she can pull me from reality and throw me into the creative, imaginative, thrilling world where unique and soulful characters come to life. I did miss the romance but I am thrilled to have had a chance to read and review this book and can’t wait for book four! I have to see what happens next!

Oh, and that ending left me stunned and the mystery and suspense was so well done that I had a hard time believing I hit the last page and would have to wait months before the next release. Great job!

Bell, Book & Candle | Ghost Heart Spotlight & Review

Wow! What a way to end the third (maybe final installment)! I swear this series gets better and better with its action, character development, and story progression. The PSS Chronicles is no laughing matter, and the abilities the people have within the story is absolutely mind-blowing. The story picks up from the cliffhanger of an ending that the last book left off at, and now we have new POV characters! Yep that's right. Before it was always Olivia whose eyes we readers were seeing the story from, but now we get to read chapters from both Marcus' and Passion's point of view- can you say double whammy?

Passion is quickly becoming one of my favorite characters, behind Olivia of course. She was smart to be wary of Mr. James and I applaud her curiosity about the secrets Jason is keeping, although curiosity killed the cat. I was proud when she finally stood up to Sam; sometimes it feels like Samantha trivializes what Passion says or feels.

My heart tore in pieces when Marcus lost his memory. It's sad knowing someone who you love has forgotten his feeling for you. Yet I am sort of glad he lost a bit of his memory because in this way, he tells the reader what happened to him before he met Olivia by attacking or conversing with Mr. James, who I might add, is a despicable human being.

I have a new-found respect for Olivia. For her to withstand torture and belittlement for refusing to use her powers on people was inspiring. It's not like she grew up being tortured and is somehow desensitized to it, so it really makes me respect her for her bravery. I totally want to know more about her power, as well as her sister's, as they seem to be quite intricate. They one thing that did bother me was when her sister warned her not to trust Grant, she did anyways. Thankfully for her, it didn't bite her in the behind later on.

The ending should be declared illegal! It is too much of a cliffhanger and now I desperately want more! I thought this was a trilogy? It better not be anymore. Anyways this book was great but you really have to pay attention to these characters. It's not all black and white-- there's a whole lot of gray area. It just keeps getting better and better, and like they say "The plot thickens".

I received a copy in exchange for an honest review

This review may contain minor spoilers for this and earlier books in this series.

As I really enjoyed the first two books in this series I was really excited for Ghost Heart, I went in with high expectations and the expectation that this book would be like the first two. The first two books are fast paced story driven books and this book was different. Now I am not sure if this is necessarily a bad thing, but I expected something different then I got. Ripley takes a chance with this book and stears the story in slightly different direction and with a slower pace then was the norm for the first two books.

Okay so at the end of book 2 Olivia gets captured and bad things happened. I kinda thought there would be a time skip, so we didn't get all the details of her capture. But there is no time skip, Ghost Heart starts almost directly after Ghost Hold, okay maybe a few hours later, but not much. We get Passion's point of view, Marcus and Olivia. I thought the multiple point of view was a nice addition, especially as the characters are separated.

I think my main problem with this book is that it felt like nothing really happened, something happened to Marcus and he has to recover, so he and Passion are just sitting around waiting. There are some things that happen, but it mostly felt like they were waiting and nothing really big happened. Then there's Olivia, well she's captured and bad things happen to her. It was almost painful to read her point of view sometimes. I think the author really wanted to give the readers a feel of what Olivia went through. And while I think it's good the author gives us some idea of what happens there at the compound, I also felt like it all took a little too long and went a little too slow. I missed the fast pace of the first two books. I wanted something to happen, the story to continue, something, anything. But instead we just got a slow paced book that felt like a filler book.

Then at the end everything changed, stuff started happening. Revelations, plot twists, interesting tidbits of information. And just when it all got interesting the book ended, that was a bit of a bummer, although it does make me curious about the next book and fits with my idea that this book was a set-up for the next.

Now let's talk about the characters. I always liked Olivia, but in this book I just felt bad for her. She's in a bad place, completely helpless and there's nothing she can do about it. Absolutely nothing. I was excited to get Passion her point of view and I certainly enjoyed the chapters form her point of view, although as nothing much was happening we still didn't learn a lot about Passion. There were a few important scenes were Passion said what needed to be said and I really liked that about her. She knew life was hard and she gave Marcus a few mental kicks when he needed it. At the end of the book we're introduced to a new character. I really liked her and what she represents and I hope we see more of her in the next book.

I was really disappointed with Marcus in this book. Something happened to him at the end of book 2 and it's bad, he lost the last 8 months of his memories. I hated it, but what I hated most was that it doesn't make sense. I learned a bit about memory during my study psychology and memory doesn't work this way. You can't lose a chunk of memories like that, either you forget all your past memories or you can't make any new ones. He not only forgot the past 8 months, but didn't even recognize the people he should know. I just wasn't buying it and it frustrated me to no end. It also seemed like a convenient way to put him basically out of the picture in this book. And when he opened his mouth he was an ass, he was mean, cussing and not taking the time to listen to people or take them serious. I couldn't stand him in this book and it felt like the Marcus we knew in the first two books was gone. He seemed like a completely different person and I didn't like it.

Then there was the world building, it nicely builds on what we already knew and I liked the new tidbits of information that were thrown our way. Every book we learn a bit more about how PSS works and it's interesting. The answers we get also create more questions, but that seems to be the way things work in this book. It always feels like there is more to know, but I didn't mind too much. It was nice knowing there was still more to discover about this world and PSS.

To conclude: mainly I was disappointed by this book as it wasn't like the previous books. It wasn't a bad book, I just had different expectations. I liked the multiple point of views, but found the story went a bit too slow and this book felt like it suffered from middle book syndrome and was building-up towards the next book. I understand why this book was necessary, but there just wasn't enough happening. I felt bad for Olivia in this book, liked getting to know Passion better, was happy with the arrival of a new character towards the end and was endlessly frustrated with Marcus. The world building nicely follows the pattern of the first two books with providing some new answers and posing new questions.

At A Glance

I’m still interested in the series but this felt like a filler book.

The Good

I started this series awhile back and have really enjoyed the concept and series arc so far. Ghost Heart picks up immediately after Ghost Hold. Olivia is captured by the CAMFers and the rest of the group is either dead or running for their lives.

I loved how we got three different POVs this time around. Passion had a great voice. She was strong and curious. Marcus has lost his memory of the last 8 months, so all he could do was play catch up to the whole situation. Olivia was in hell as the experiments started right away. I still love her character the most. She has this verve that keeps her going and keeps you reading. She goes through so much pain and manipulation, but she still maintained optimistic that she would get out from under the CAMFers hands.

There were a lot of secrets revealed which left me shocked and filled with more questions. The twist and turns really helped the story along. I like the new character at the end. That person is going to make things interesting for book #4.

The Bad

Nothing really happens in this book. It was very slow, unlike the fast pace in the other books. There was a lot of waiting around, and that’s it. It was a good transition for the next book, but Ghost Heart didn’t have enough going on to be a book by itself.

By the end, I was left with more questions than answers. I am getting tired of the characters knowing people are lying or holding back info but not confronting them on it. It’s costing people their lives. Grow a pair and start demanding answers!!!

It ends right when things are starting to get interesting.

The Snuggly

The romance is almost nonexistent, but this story doesn’t need it.

Final Thoughts

I will be reading book 4 when it comes out. I can’t help but be obsessed with these characters and their stories. Though Ghost Heart fell flat in a lot of areas, it still kept me reading. Recommended.

Excerpt

Dr. Fineman picked up the knife, turning it in his hands. Then he lowered it gently, setting it in my open palm, handle-first.

I was never willingly going to do what they wanted me to. They were going to have to force my hand every inch of the way.

Anthony squeezed my wrist even harder as Dr. Fineman closed my fingers around the knife.

Suddenly, I was standing at the door, huge and looming, looking at the pitiful, bloody, minus girl. No, at me. I was looking at me.

“She’s in my fucking head,” I—he—Major Tom said, stumbling back toward the door. “I can feel her there. I can feel where she is.”

“Hold your ground,” Dr. Fineman barked at me—no, him. I wasn’t him.—and I held steady at the door, remembering my training and honoring my rank. This little bitch wasn’t going to embarrass me a second time.

What the fuck? That hadn’t been my thought. It had been his thought in my head.

I looked down at the knife in my hand and tried desperately to unclench my fingers, but Dr. Fineman squeezed them even harder around it.

So much happened in book two, in fact so much so that I felt I needed to reread it so I could remember everything. I knew I was nervous about what was in store for Olivia, Marcus and the gang and I just knew that after the cliffhanger ending of Ghost Hold that I was going to be in for quite the ride.

I have loved this unique well written story from the very first page and was anxious to see how it would all end. Endings can be so bittersweet. Except, this wasn't an ending like I thought, not even close in fact, it was a beginning.

So much happens in this that I really don't even know where to being. This had a slightly different feel than the others books, mainly because it was told in multiple point of views which was both great and frustrating at the same time.

It was nice getting into Passion's head it was also frustrating because I wanted more of Olivia and I was dying to know more about Marcus so when Marcus' POV came I was super excited but also somewhat sad. I don't think this story ever went in the direction I thought it would go. It was constantly surprising me and at times made me feel like I was a yoyo with the ups and downs of it all (in a good way, I assure you).

I honestly have no clue where the next book will lead but where ever that may be, I will follow because I need to know how it all comes together and where it goes from here.

There is a tour giveaway at my blog post as well as a few excerpts.Just click the banner below to go to the post.

This series has quickly become one of my all time favorites now.Its intense, suspenseful, and just over all great.

I love the whole concept of the PSS , its a new original idea and love that its something I have never read about before. I love the paranormal genre over all, but feel at times the same things are wrote about with different storys and plot, but basically the same. Not so with this series.

I do not want to spoil anything for those who had not read the first 2 books, so will keep this short.

I love the characters, and am happy that some questions we had from previous book were answered here, but of course just more questions came up, but know in time we will learn it all. This has just the right amount of suspense and some twist we do not see coming too.

I was saddened by a few losses, wont say who, but hate that we lost the ones we did through this series.

This 3rd book to me is the best, as it is alot with series, they build up from each book which makes it even better.

I highly recommend this whole series to any paranormal lovers, has a touch of sci-fi I think too. Its just right.

I received a copy of this book from the author for my honest review.

From the fantastic cover to the final page, Ghost Heart by Ripley Patton is another of her wildly imaginative, clearly creative and definitely dramatic reads. Ms. Patton deftly changes POVs to give her fans a diorama view of each scene, each event and brings it all together with skill. This isn’t one neatly drawn plot, this a myriad of plots and subplots swirling around each other, some shocking, some sad, some kind of just sneak up on you as it pulls you in deeper. Family ties are stretched to the limits, secrets are unveiled that may or may not be true as deceit and dangerous games are being played all around. Who can be trusted? Who doesn’t deserve trust? How far will some go to obtain their end goals? What is going on between The Hold and CAMFers?

Brilliantly, Ms. Patton weaves her tale, answering some questions, but raising so many more. She writes with a pace that is almost at the speed of light, if it isn’t action flying past, its deep intrigue, jagged twists and huge, I mean HUGE reveals. Ripley Patton’s characters come to life under her pen as she colors each with their own special personality and unique talents. The sky’s the limit for this series and this author.

For those of you not in the know, this is the 3rd book in the PSS Chronicles. Ghost Hand and Ghost Hold must be read before Ghost Heart.
I remember when the first book in the series arrived on my kindle... I remember how interested I was in reading about this 'Ghost Hand' of Olivia's and I remember that it took me a while to actually read it and I remember kicking myself when I finally got round to it because I loved it. So you would think I would know better than to do the same thing again. Well apparently not. Ghost Heart has been sat loaded on my kindle for... I don't even know how long , and for one reason or another have neglected it. And now that I have devoured it I am kicking myself for not reading it sooner and verbally kicking Patton for that ending.

The PSS Chronicles is such an original concept that it really stands out from other books in it's genre, but it's Pattons writing that really draws you in to the story. And keeps you there. In Ghost Heart Patton allows the story to unfold from different POV's which allows you to get a much better understanding of some of the characters we've met earlier in the series. And in doing so allows for there to be so much more story told than if she had stuck to just telling the story from Olivia's POV.

There isn't quite as much action in this book as there has been earlier in the series, but there is still so very much going on. We are still in the dark with regards to which side of The Hold/CAMFers line certain characters loyalties lie. And while certain questions are answered we still have many left unanswered... not to mention new questions. *cough* that ending *cough*.

This is proving to be one of my most favourite of series and I cant wait to find out where Olivia's story goes next.

This is one of the most creative, imaginative books that I have read. The entire series is fantastic! The PPS Chronicles takes paranormal to an entirely different level.

Ghost Heart reveals more secrets and more twists!! This is a very captivating and intriguing book. I could not put it down!! The only disappointing thing is that the story doesn't end with this book! I will be waiting on pins and needles for the next book.

I highly recommend the entire series of the PPS Chronicles. I loved it!!

A 3.5. Good, but disappointing after the first two books. I was expecting a trilogy only, so was left hanging with absolutely no closure whatsoever. Hopefully the 4th installment measures up to the first two books.

Ghost Heart is the third book the in the PSS Chronicles and not – as I expected – the last, but only the next instalment in the series. In fact it is not an ending at all. Rather it is very much a beginning, of the next phase in the battle against the CAMFers and the Hold and of a new life for our protagonists. Discussing a third book in any series without giving spoilers is hard, but in the case of Ghost Heart it is almost impossible, so out of necessity, this review will contain minor spoilers and will be less extensive than usual.

The beginning of the book is very much focused on the fall-out of Ghost Hold’s climactic scenes. The story opens into a scary and  chaotic mess of a situation and the narrative reflects the characters' confusion. There are many short segments from different perspectives, which in itself is a departure from the previous books. While Marcus appeared to be dead at the end of the previous book, thankfully he is saved. Unfortunately, he’s a different person and doesn’t remember the last eight months, including his sister’s death, his feelings for Olivia and going up against the CAMFers. Because the group is split up and to compensate for Marcus’ not remembering what is going on, the narration of the story has been split into three from Olivia’s exclusive first person narration in the prior books. We get points of views from Marcus, Passion, and Olivia. It’s an interesting development, moving away from Olivia’s singular viewpoint into a broader view of the characters, as it allows us a more balanced view of the story and let’s us see what the others think of Olivia.

If Marcus' point of view is the outsider one, as he's trying to figure out how he fits into this group of people and what has happened in the past eight months, Passion’s is the insider one. Passion is perfectly positioned to get the larger view of the situation and to keep tabs on everyone. Especially with Olivia held in close confinement by Fineman and thus unable to know what is happening beyond the four walls of her cell. The little information she is given by Fineman and his goons is suspect and for Olivia the motto of the book is “Trust No One”. Patton creates a creeping sense of doubt whether facts previously presented as true are indeed truth by making it unclear whether events happened as we were told they did or whether they even happened at all. She accomplishes this not only by having her characters discover more information, she also allows the reader to discover the same information from several angles.

Due to this increased information flow and because the narrative advances we also get a clearer idea of what is happening on a larger stage and about the history of the Hold and the CAMFers. Because it turns out that the Hold and CAMF are far older than we’d been led to believe and that there is history there we couldn’t have suspected. We also learn more about the nature of PSS and its possibilities. It is certainly not a birth defect as previously presumed, it is a genetic mutation, one might even say the next stage in human evolution. We learn more about what Olivia in particular can – and more importantly can't – do with her PSS, about the energy transference PSS enables between its carriers, and more.

Ghost Heart is an excellent continuation of the PSS Chronicles, with a great ending and set up for the next book. If Ghost Hold’s ending left me gasping for the next book, Ghost Heart was even worse. The PSS Chronicles make for addictive reading and I can’t wait to return to Patton’s universe to discover what is next for Olivia, Marcus, Passion and the rest of the group. The PSS Chronicles are a fabulous paranormal YA series, but I do recommend starting at the beginning with Ghost Hand to get the most out of the series.

Ghost Heart is the third installment in The PSS Chronicles, and I'm definitely glad it's not the last! Though the book isn't particularly long, there is a lot packed into it, and so many twists and surprises. I was honestly shocked at so many of them! So I applaud Ripley for all the unpredictability.

We get three POVs in this book - Passion, Marcus, and Olivia. Which is a change from the previous two books. I liked seeing things through different eyes, but I was pretty impatient in the beginning waiting to find out what's going on with Olivia! I definitely liked getting to know Passion better, though. There are so many things I want to say but I can't because of spoilers! But trust me, this book will really take you on a roller coaster.

I missed Olivia and Marcus's interactions, because they're one of my favourite YA couples - they click so well together and their banter is amusing. But I feel like the events of this book needed to happen so we can get to know them individually as well. If you've read Ghost Hold, you'll know there's more than one cliffhanger at the end. Well, things aren't going so well for Olivia, or Passion and Jason, or Marcus. And it's also still hard to read the book knowing Yale and Nose aren't in it.

There's definite heartbreak in Ghost Heart, I'm not going to lie. So many emotions in this! I like how deeply I'm getting involved in this series, and I love the characters. Olivia, though in a precarious situation, is still standing strong, and I really admire her willpower and ability to stay calm and keep a clear head. Passion's pretty awesome too, I've come to realize. I admit I didn't love her previously, but in this book I really did. I don't want to say much about Marcus since he goes through a lot (and also spoilers) but I will say that though things are still murky with him I believe he's a good guy and it's amazing how much he cares about the people he loves.

Again, there isn't much more I can say without giving something away. Regarding the plot, we get to know more about the Hold, and more about how it originated with Samantha's dad. We also find out a little more about the CAMFers and their relationship with the Hold. It was cool getting all this background, and I'm sure it'll all play a big role in the next book. We also get to know more about PSS powers! Not just Olivia's, but others as well. Although hers are the most detailed, of course.

So all in all, I was really happy with this. Though goshhh it's going to be hard waiting for the fourth book! Especially with the way this ended. It was a powerful ending, and a great one, but more cliffhangers! To all the YA readers - if you love paranormal and you haven't picked up The PSS Chronicles yet, what are you waiting for? Go grab it!

I want to start by saying that Ripley Patton does a beautiful job of reminding readers what happened in the book before this one (Book 2, Ghost Hold) without giving away the plot to those that may not have read the second book. Obviously you would have to be crazy to not have read the second book before this one, because so much happened in it that is very VERY important for this one. Such as (insert incoherent mumbles here). What? Did you think I would give stuff away? I am not that kind of girl...

On that note, I have decided that I am going to start a support group for readers who have a tendency to read ahead, aka skimming pages or turning to the back of the book just to make sure a character doesn't die or something (that is how I ruined the seventh Harry Potter book for myself). It is a very terrible disease and can make your life a living nightmare! Or at least take all the fun out of reading. I shall call it PA. Peekers Anonymous. Comment if you have a better name. You can tell I have actually thought about this long and hard. So anyway, the whole point of saying this was because that is exactly what I wanted to do throughout this entire book. I had to know what was going to happen. I had to know if I could trust people or if my gut was right about there being a rat in our midst. I have to admit that I did turn to the last few pages while I was still in the beginning of the book, but thankfully I had my eyes squinted enough that I saw nothing. And I am glad I did, because like I said, it would have made the journey to the ending less stressful and I hate when I can't stress over a book. It makes me feel so alive and the story so much more readable.

This particular book in the series has a different format to it than the past two. Instead of having only Olivia's point of view, due to the characters being separated we are allowed both Marcus's and Passion's points of view as well. These three different characters allow us to gain a well rounded view of the story just as we get in the other two, but it also allows us to see characters we have gotten to know in a whole new light. We get to experience their feelings, thoughts, and in Marcus's case, what with his most recent dying experience and the repercussions of that, old wounds being reopened as if they were never closed in the first place.

I literally want to bang my forehead against a wall or something like it due to the fact that the fourth book won't come out until next year. I am in love with this series, these characters, and the whole PSS idea. This is definitely a remarkable series that will have a special place in my heart, and most especially this particular installment.

**I received an ARC of this book because I am a member of Ripley's Street Team and agreed to post an honest review**
Okay, so who loves the PSS Chronicles? Well, obviously you must if you're planning to read the third installment of the amazing series.
Alright, so after Ghost Hold I'm pretty sure we were all ready to storm Ripley's home with torches and demand to know what happens next. Or, well, I was anyway. Gotta say, I was in a pretty bad book emotional comma after I finished Ghost Hold and I couldn't wait for this one to come out.
Well darlings, I have to say that this was definitely worth the wait. And can we just agree that the cover is absolutely amazing? Anyway, where Ghost Hold left off, Ghost Heart will pick up. Be prepared for a roller coaster though, things get a little crazy.
Anyway, we get a better view of Passion in this installment since it switches POV between her, Marcus and Olivia, but don't worry, it doesn't get confusing or anything. I think the switches makes the book better because we get a better understanding of all of them.
I can honestly tell you that I was on the edge of my seat for the majority of it and there were a lot of shockers. Don't misunderstand! It was all good and welcome, but be prepared to lose sleep and yell.
I wish I could tell you that it's all happy and wonderful, but I would be lying. But who wants happiness when there is nonstop action and surprises?
My only complaint is that it's too short! I didn't want it to end at all, and while the cliffy isn't bad or scary or at all like Ghost Hold, I still wanted it to continue till the end.
Be prepared my friends, this book is worth the wait and read. You'll get a whole knew understanding of the PSS world, the characters, and the things going on that you weren't aware of until it's revealed.
Great job Ripley, now finish book four so I can feed my addiction!

This is a young adult paranormal book, the third in the series. This is not a stand alone and picks up where the last book Ghost hold leaves off. I recommend this for all ages, anyone who loves a good mystery filled paranormal. This book kept me entertained the whole read, I was kept on the edge of my seat, anxious to see what would happen next and was left flabbergasted as to what happened. WOW. I need more!

This story is about several characters, different point of views. After a tragic incident the PSS kids are split up. Passion and Jason are in hiding, Marcus is lost, and Samantha the one whom they were supposed to be helping is now hurt. The Hold who claims to want to help the PSS kids, is crumbling and no one knows whom they can trust. To top it all off Olivia has been captured by the CAMFers, she is now Dr. Fineman's favorite test subject, and he has no qualms on how far he should go with her. Thankfully Olivia does not realize what has become of Marcus, so she fights to survive and in the process learns more about her PSS hand. At the end will any of it matter, or was it all in vain?

Favorite passages:
"Why? was the only word I'd come up with for that one; just an empty pain-filled "Why?" <3
"Everything a mad scientist could ask for."
"If he was a double-agent, then I was the fluffy pink princess of Unicorn Land."
"There was a serious draft up my a**."
"I cannot explain what it means to have a piece of yourself severed from you. Something that always defined you. Something that makes you who you are." <3
"Wind was the air touching me now, caressing me like a friend or a lover."
"Then I followed the boy into the world."

I received this ARC to give an honest review.
Where book 2 ended book three Ghost Heart picked up. There is a lot of action that is taking place. After the tragedy that hit them up in the caves. Olivia finds herself captured by Dr. Fineman who if you read book one will remember him as the one that held Passion captive.
If you had questions in book two then they will be answered in this story. There were plenty of twist and turns and now I am wondering who is working for who.
Now while Olivia is being held captive she treated pretty badly and my heart went out to her. But she held strong. While she is in her cell someone reaches out to her, and this character is a mystery. One that we hear about but don't know much about. I see this character playing a huge part in book four, because the ending has you wondering what else is going to happen in the PSS world.
We normally read Olivia's POV in the stories along with some other characters. But in Ghost Heart we get more of Passion's POV and she is character that we see grow, which I think is excellent.
With Ghost Heart you will be left wondering who is good, who is bad, and why all the secrets?
It seemed the so called "bad" guys wanted to help out Marcus, Olivia, Jason and Passion, but underneath it all what is really going on?
If you want a new series to read one that you will want to know about about the PSS world and the characters you have got to get your hands on Ripley Patton's series. It is one that I recommend to those that like the paranormal.

*This Book Was Given To Me By The Author In Exchange For An Honest Review*

Amazing Book! Ripley Patton is a awesome storyteller and I couldn't get enough of this story! the twists the turns and the backbone of these characters was incredible and I loved every minute of their journey.

I couldn't wait for this book as I had so many unanswered questions from the last book about where the characters were going and what was going to happen, I found that Ripley is a sneaky and sassy writer and no matter how many questions she answers she leaves you hanging in the end with a thousand more!...lol...I really hope this isn't the end for the Ghost brigade as I like to call them as I really have grown attached and would like to read more to see what fate has in store for them now.

I really have grown fond of them all, Passion is a big fav of mine and I would really like to get to know more about the mysterious kids sis as I am sure everyone would. I really miss Nose and Yale and maybe they could meet someone like them in a new book.

If your as big a fan as I am of these books don't miss out on your chance to get this one as Ghost Heart is just that full of heart! get your copy today!

I was given the opportunity to review the first three books of this series as part of the "Ghost Heart" blog tour and all I can say is Where have you been all my life?

When I first started reading "Ghost Hand", I wasn't too sure that I would ultimately enjoy it as much as I hoped, but that quickly turned around, taking hold of my attention with the ghostly tendrils of a PSS sufferer. What is PSS you ask? Good question! It's a medical anomaly, a birth defect dubbed Psyche Sans Soma, in which the hand ceases being flesh and blood at the wrist and resumes as a ghostly substitute made up of ethereal energy. It's a new, wild idea that the author inflicted her main character with, 17 year old Olivia Black.

The series has a smart, witty sense of humor with paranormal action and romance, as Olivia Black is hunted by a secret organization called the CAMFers. They are people she knew, they are strangers, they will stop at nothing to get what they want, and what they want is her and the strange, wondrous, terrible things that she can do with her Ghost Hand.

This is one series I strongly recommend to YA paranormal romance lovers everywhere.

Oh, and the first book is free.

Right on.

I received this book free from the author in exchange for an honest review

So Mrs.Patton has done it again. This book starts off right where it ended in Ghost Hold and will blow your mind. You get answers to some of the big questions, but of course when it ends, you'll have several more. But as the book progresses, it all starts to tie together and just makes you more impatient for the next book! The character's are so real and original, and you get to know then all so much more with the multiple pov's.I wasn't so sure about the different pov's, but it worked out really well. And Ripley Patton does such an amazing job that you always know who's pov it is, and it brings a lot of clarification that you other wise would not have. I was never sure about Passion as a character, but in Ghost Heart I start to love her. You just need to read this book, it's an AMAZING addition to this series, and so different and original. Well done Ripley Patton.

Talk bout a crazy ending in Ghost hold and now we continue following along this group of characters, this time seeing more than Olivia's POV. We see now only how she's doing in CAMfer custody, but also see Passion and others and where they are after the carziness of that night.

Passion is coming into her own not letting others push her around and she's free from her parents for the first time allowing her to be her true self.

Everyone is scrambling to figure out what's going on and there are secrets left and right keeping you gussing about whats really going on. You wonder who's really on the side of your favorite characters and then there's what each of them has been hiding.

There's allot going on and you're left realing at times and with each turn of the page something else crazy happens leaving you spinning (In a good way) by the end of the book.

Definitely excited to see the next book. Can't Wait.

4.5 Stars *SPOILERS*
Ripley, you devilish woman, you! This series seriously just keeps getting better, it's nuts! I can't wait for Ghost Hope! I'm so excited to get to know more about Kaylee. I bet it's going to be really interesting to see the relationship that develops between her and Marcus. Wow that sentence made no sense. I'm wondering about this whole magic eight ball thing, that should be interesting. I was so sad for Olivia when she found out Marcus didn't remember her anymore.

I'm wondering if Danielle really is dead. She probably is, Dr. Fineman did say he killed her in front of Marcus. But you never know with this series lol.

Ghost Hope cannot come fast enough. If Ripley does another kickstarter, I will absolutely contribute!

In the aftermath of a brutal tragedy, Jason and Passion are on the run. Marcus is lost beyond reach, and The Hold is in shambles. If that weren't enough, Olivia Black has been taken by the CAMFers to be used as Dr. Fineman's personal lab rat in his merciless quest to uncover the mysteries of Psyche Sans Soma once and for all. But only if he can break her.

Sometimes subsequent stories in a series can lose the uniqueness that catches a reader's attention in the first book. Not this one. From page one of Ghost Heart I'm completely invested, and just as engaged, wondering what was going to happen next as I was with Ghost Hand. If you like books that take you outside your normal life, you'll love The PSS Chronicles. And, there's a fourth book coming!

WOW this story just keeps getting better! After the attack; everyone is separated from each other; Marcus is assumed dead and Olivia has been taken by the people they have been running from. The kids are all tested throughout the book once again with their friendships are on the line and learning things that make them question everything they are trying to accomplish!

Once again Ripley pulls you into the story and you no longer care whats going around you, you just want to know what happens to the kids and if Dr. Fineman will be stopped. This book (like the others) will hold you on the edge of your seat, wanting to know more! Definitely a must read!!

I have been a huge fan of Ripley's right from the start. I absolutely loved Ghost Heart and it was by way my favorite of the series so far. Ripley keeping increasing the bar with every book in this series. Olivia deals with a lot more emotional issues in this one, and Ripley was able to make you feel every emotion that Olivia goes through.
The PSS Chronicles is a fantastic series that gets better and better with every book. Ripley has an amazing skill and i am so glad that she shares her work with us, each character is written with so much detail that you actually think you know them, not to mention the graphics she is able to use with the scenes.... Love, Love , Love The PSS Chronicles

This third book of the PSS Chronicles series by Ripley Patton continues the story of Olivia Black and her runaway friends, led by the elusive Marcus, straight after the brutal tragedy in the final pages of Ghost Hold. Some of the valiant band are held hostage, some are dead, some are hurt, and some on the run. In the same way that Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix marked a turn of the series to a much darker place, so does Ghost Heart, in which torture and death are main characters and violence is more graphically depicted than in its predecessors.

Very well-written YA. A series worth picking up. Had noticed someone didn't think the kind of memory loss suffered here couldn't happen, but retrograde amnesia is a thing, so I'm happy to go along with that. Loved the magic 8 ball... It's just about a character in its own right. I'm struggling to keep up with who's good & who's bad. To the point that I really don't careany more (I don't want to form relationships with characters who could turn out to have been bad guys all along), so long as our main characters win at the end of the day.
Hope everything works out in the end!
