Small-town mechanic and tattooed bad boy Travis keeps his profile low, his needs satisfied outside the city limits, and his business running smoothly. He doesn’t cause trouble and he certainly doesn’t want any. Trouble finds him one scorching afternoon, however, in the form of the equally scorching Arabella Drake. The former heiress owes Travis for car repairs, money she can’t readily pay.
Their situation requires a creative solution, and while most of the town rejects Bella, Travis wants to ravish her. He offers a proposal, one that will soften the repair costs—and satisfy Travis’ longstanding wish to have Bella Drake naked, writhing and sliding down on every inch of him.
A Romantica® contemporary erotic romance from Ellora’s Cave
Why I Read this Book:Slide Down on Me has a very interesting premise and I wanted to find out how the situation played out. And would you just look at that cover!!
What I Liked: Travis was VERY direct and to the point, and Bella was the same way. There was no beating around the bush with these two. Direct and to the point with no games.
Travis has his nipple and his penis pierced! (I’m so easy. *wink*) Better yet, the author made his piercings part of the smutty sex scenes. With the romance novels I’ve read before that featured a hero with a Prince Albert, the piercing was mentioned in passing but not incorporated in the intimate scenes. So I appreciated that this author did just that. And boy, does Travis likes it rough!
I also liked that Travis is an auto mechanic, something I don’t come across all too often in romance novels. Having worked in the automotive industry myself, I liked reading about a hero who knows his way around cars.
What I Didn’t Like: A big part of the story is the fact that Bella's brother swindled a lot of people from their hometown out of their money. But it was never mentioned exactly how her brother stole peoples money. It was so vague and I really wanted some more details. It was also mentioned that there was a trust fund left to Bella by her grandmother and that there were stipulations and red tape. What kind of stipulations and red tape? It was mentioned and pointed out, so why wasn’t it addressed? So it felt like a loose end.
Memorable Moment:
“Seriously? Do you really need to think about it, Bella? Do you really need time to consider whether or not you want to fuck me?”
Overall Impression:Slide Down on Me was a quick, sexy read that was fun and light.
This was an ok read, I was surprised by how short it was and I think had it been longer I would have connected more with the hero and heroine. Arabella lived in the small town growing up but moved away, now she is back with her parents now gone and a brother in prison for swindling people out of their money including most of the town Arabella has learned to live with the hatred and the lack of money. So when her car costs more money than she has to fix it she asks Travis the mechanic for some time. But Travis isn't only the mechanic he is also the boy she had a hug crush on in school.
Travis always wanted Arabella and even though most of the town can't stand her he doesn't blame her for what her brother did. When she needs help Travis agrees but also see's this as his chance to make a move on Arabella the girl he knew was out of his class, and if he can finally get her to agree to be with him that will be even better. But soon both Travis and Arabella find their feelings getting involved and they will have to decide if this will stay an arrangement or move to something more.
I think this book had tons of potential but I just felt like it was missing something to make it great, and just ended up to be ok. I think Travis was a great hero but I would have liked more emotion from him and not just attraction especially since we had so little time to believe Travis and Arabella fall in love. Arabella was a likable heroine also and the story had the start of a great book but it was just missing a little too much,I do see great potential and will try more books by Lissa Mathews in the future.
2.5 stars This short novella wasn't that bad. The beginning was rushed, even more rushed than a novella asks for which just didn't seem right. When the author tried to make some character development, it didn't work out so well, so there's a minus on that as well and then - the biggest con: The price. This piece of shortness costs nearly 4.50$ on amazon. 4.50$. Uh... sorry, but something of this quality and this length should cost AT MAXIMUM 1.99 - at normal price it should be under a dollar. This cost this ebook a whole lot in my book. It's a shit ton of money for something like this. Buy t when it's on sale if you decide to buy it... but really, imo you could find better smut out there to spend on.
Wow, nice and hot and short and sexy and sweaty and perfect!
A teenage attraction that was never acted upon is pushed forward as adults. Both know what they like in the bedroom and they are extremely complementary in that aspect. Hot and sweaty sex that is amazing ensues and it is sweltering!!!!
Decisions need to be made on what happens after the sex, is a relationship possible? Are the differences insurmountable? Is the town to unaccepting? Do they even care?
Loved the book, loved the characters and loved the story - mature people in a mature relationship is always refreshing!
This erotic novella is an enjoyable quick read with lots of sizzling and intense passion. The story was an enjoyable and quick read, but I think I would have gotten more caught up in the story if it had been longer with a little more depth to the characters and their lives. But at the same time, sometimes you just want a fast and feel good story to help you relax for a moment and this one certainly fits the bill.
Scandal hits when her brother is convicted and imprisoned for swindling millions, even from their neighbors and the town isn't particularly happy to have her home. When she can't pay for her badly needed car repairs, bad boy mechanic Travis sees a way to finally have his dream girl in this erotic short. This affair was much too rushed for this reader to appreciate the characters. Rating: 3.5stars
Pretty hot little story. I liked the heroine's forwardness and comfort with her sexuality and the hero was fun. I'm usually pretty open about sex/foreplay acts in books but for some reason the just weirded me out. I think someone else said as much in their review too so I guess I'm not alone. But otherwise a thoroughly enjoyable story.
Such a great contemporary romance. I have read paranormal romance books by this author, but this is my first foray into her contemporary line and I was not disappointed. This book contains the same angst, laughter and love that I have come to expect. The author did a wonderful job of keeping me intrigued until the HEA. I look forward to her next book.
A nicely done story two people who assumed to be one thing by their small town, but are really quite different. The sex scenes were dirty and fun. I liked the main characters. I wish that the cliches about small town gossip and supporting character wasn't laid on quite so thick.
Ms. Matthews has a very specific writing style and a very appealing one at that. Her subject matter is not always my cup of tea but the way she delivers it often is. A very solid read, this one, even if the ending is both awkwardly drawn out and strangely rushed.
Okay quick read. Lacking in the character area and the steam. It felt rushed and the sex scenes had no build and no length or description in most which made them fall flat.
