One Hundred Seashells features portraits of seashells by acclaimed photographer Harold Feinstein, widely admired for his vivid and breathtaking close-up photographs of flowers. Large-format and luxuriously produced, One Hundred Seashells brings forth the intricate and subtle beauty of seashells -- their luminous array of color, their every twist and turn -- to an unprecedented degree. Feinstein has created a portfolio of images stunning in their delicacy and detail. Each picture is coupled with an identifying caption that makes the book as practical as it is exquisite, for art lovers and nature enthusiasts alike.
Sydney Eddison writes about her passion for collecting seashells and their astonishing architecture in her Introduction to the book.
I've never considered photographing sea shells myself, but I will now. The images in this book are inspiring. Nature has a way about her that intrigues me and makes me want to run out and find a beach somewhere to explore. I would have given this book 5 stars but a couple of the images looked out of focus to me - though that may have been intentional on the artists part.
BEAUTIFUL book of photography. I love having Feinstein's photography books available in my preschool classroom. The children pour over the photos, make comparisons to our own collections, and the book is large, so every image is crisp, clear, and immensely detailed. LOVE this book.
