Offers an introduction to the sights and sounds of familiar farm animals. It is a simple story for you to lift the flaps where you can see the baby animals as well.
He was brought up in Zimbabwe and returned to Britain where he completed a doctorate in organic chemistry. In 1980 he became involved in children's publishing where he began designing innovative books with interactive elements and repetitive phrases.
In 1987 he founded Campbell Blackie Books in partnership with his publisher Blackie. Campbell Books (as it became in 1989) was sold in 1995 to Macmillan Publishers.
My Little One loved reading this book. We had fun following Sam the dog on his day on the farm. The lift-the-flap pages were fun and what they revealed was a source of laughter and delight.
The artwork is bold and bright. The words are simple and engaging. It's easy to see why Rod Campbell's books are a hit with babies and toddlers.
A lovely little board book with lift the flaps. My 1 year old and I really enjoyed it. Great illustrations, lots of nice pics of parent animals with their babies, and a cute dog throughout.
We follow Sam along the chaotic farm lifting flaps and finding babies of each animal. The font and illustrations remind me of Pamela Allen’s books so if you are a fan of those, you will enjoy this.
Rosie is really quite fond of lift-the-flap books and animal sounds right now, so this ticked a couple of boxes for us. We gave it to her for her first birthday as “Dear Zoo” is one of her favourite books.
I think Rosie will only come to enjoy this book even more as time passes and as she learns to read. For now she is just loving us oinking at her and letting her check what’s underneath each flap.
