A Lush Betrayal

Rate this book
Joss Jamison has it all. He's the lead singer for the world's hottest rock band, Lush. He's wealthy, sexy, talented...and miserable. Twelve months ago, Joss lost his finely honed control and made a mistake he can't undo. A mistake that could end up costing him his best friend, his band, and maybe his heart.

Mel DiLorenzo has it all. She's been hired to document the world tour of her sister's fiance's rock band. She's gorgeous, talented, loved...and sick of being the little sister. When she agrees to the summer job, Mel has no idea she's walking into a minefield of friendships lost and hearts destroyed. She also has no idea what it means to be the object of Joss Jamison's affections.

One hot rock star plus one life-altering mistake, add a dash of sexy younger sister and a handful of broken hearts, and you've got a recipe for fire. Life on the road can be hot, but for the boys of Lush, it's about to get a whole hell of a lot hotter.

When Mel DiLorenzo lands the job of a lifetime, thanks to her big sister, she is glad to seize the opportunity to escape the disaster that has become her life. Her older sister, Tammy, works for her boyfriend's famous band and wants Mel to do a piece on the band. A photojournalism student, Mel recognizes that this is a once in a lifetime offer. Well-known journalists would kill for a job like this, much less some unknown like her.

It just so happens that Mel is glad to get away from a scandal of her own making. Like a fool, she got involved with a renowned instructor. After their affair he dropped her grade, threatening everything that she had worked so hard for.

In her last year of her program, Mel has maintained the highest grades of any student in her class. She has worked hard for her grades and it was a no-brainer that she would win the most prestigious of awards given to a student each year. Now, her naive actions have jeopardized everything she's worked so hard for. If she chooses to fight the grade, she will risk even more.

Joss Jamison is not a stranger to regret. He has his own skeletons that he's trying hard to keep hidden. He knows that his secret has the power to destroy everything that he, and his friends, have worked for. He could lose it all if it gets out.

When Joss sees Mel when she joins the band on tour, he is taken aback by her beauty. No longer is she the young, awkward girl that he remembered. Tammy's little sister has grown up.

Despite his bad-boy reputation, Joss is determined to win Mel over. She is sweet, innocent, and everything that he wants but has never believed that he would ever have. Everyone thinks that they know him, but they have no idea of the loneliness that he battles. Just once, he would like to feel a connection to another person that isn't superficial.

When Tammy notices Joss paying attention to her sister, she doesn't trust his motives. To say that her relationship with Joss has deteriorated recently, is putting it mildly. The two can hardly be civil to one another. Tammy does her best to warn Mel away from the womanizing rock star.

Aside from the drama with Joss, Tammy and Mel, there was plenty going on in the background as well. Tammy's boyfriend, Walsh, is recently out of rehab and everyone seems to be walking on eggshells, afraid to push him off the wagon again. Meanwhile, there is obvious resentment and turmoil amongst the bandmates. As the lead singer and front man for the band, Joss seems to have garnered the vast majority of fanfare, birthing jealousies.

Just as Joss and Mel seem to be headed off into the sunset, all hell breaks loose. That secret of Joss's finally comes out. It seems it wasn't as well-kept as he had hoped. The results are devastating to everyone involved.

Even though this story was pretty predictable - after all, the author lets you in on the secret pretty early-on - I found it highly enjoyable. Knowing the secret, there is a sense of impending doom that hangs over this story. I was just waiting for the other shoe to drop the whole time. It kept me on the edge of my seat from start to finish.

As expected, there was a lot of heartache and feels involved when everything comes to light. Again, not a big surprise. Yet, it was still highly emotional, despite my best efforts to prepare myself mentally.

Overall, I thought that this was a great story if you're in the mood for something angsty. There is a bit of a taboo scandal involved. However, it was before Joss and Mel got together. The betrayal still runs deep though.

If you're like me and you love to read a book that elicits emotional pain, then this is a good one. It is an emotional train-wreck in the making. You know it's going to happen and you can't do anything to stop it.

I'm a masochist in that way, so I thought it was great. If you like perfect characters that never make mistakes or do terrible things, then steer clear of this one. These characters are definitely flawed.

3.7 Stars - Charming nice and well done in every way

A freebie 'Rock Star' kindle m/f and a added audiobook for just $2.29. — Seven hours narrated by John Wray.

Easily consumed, digestible, short and quick, cute romantic, some steamy moments and a wonderful hero who I fell for. Overall, at least 3 stars (with plus approved) and some extra sprinkles for an excellent (male) narration.

*********************************************

Joss Jamison has it all. He's the lead singer for one of the world's hottest new rock band, Lush. He's wealthy, sexy, talented...and miserable. ~ Then there is a beautiful (little) sister...

Mel DiLorenzo has been hired to photo document the world tour "As Lush As It Gets tour" of her sister Tammy's fiance's rock band. Mel agrees to this unexpected summer job. ~ Then there is a quite stunning gorgeous blond rock star...
 photo image.jpg1_zps0k4gp20q.jpg

‘Who knew they loved my boyfriend so much? Since we came south of the Mason-Dixon line a week ago, it’s been nonstop screaming women, hairspray, cleavage, and false eyelashes.’

*********************************************

Doubtless a bit more than a "good enough" one
A Lush Betrayal deal with with several good topics and has a interesting intrigue (plot) about friendship, betrayal, infidelity, and bad conscience that makes this to much more than just another nice steamy CR romance.

Moreover, this is a very kind and sweet sort of rock star romance. There aren't a lot of filth, drugs, kinky (we all share) smex. ...Or too much with those poor young drooling hysterical fan girls. ~ Not much about rock music either if we are honest. ~ This 'light & nice' style was probably excellent for me, I don't want to be reminded of all crazy ugly crap in the music industry.

I like when some, not too angsty, thoughtful stuff about life choices, friendship etc are woven together with delightful romance stuff. I cared for the main characters, the band and friends and I liked the atmosphere and the style of this story.
‘...I wonder how I lived twenty- four long years without him. It’s as if he’s a part of the fabric of me. Woven into my soul, knit into my heart.’

 photo image.jpg1_zpscns3wa3r.jpg

Audiobook and narrator...
And not insignificant: I enjoyed this narration. I always cheers when a m/f novel is told in dual person POV with a lot part from 'his' voice. (Male narrators are never really good at female voices.) The audiobook (6:49 hrs) was more than just simply "good enough" and probably also 'did' that little extra for me this time.

**********************************************

Looking forward to listening to future audiobooks with more about the other three band members —Walsh Clark, Mike Owens, Colin Douglas— and their life-love-stories. ~ Selena Laurence convinced me with this (not too long) well told first installment.

I LIKE - good stories and a lovely singer

Betrayal is the only truth that sticks.

Do you like your rock star romances angst filled and high on the drama with a dash of steam thrown into the mix? Than look no further than this book, because it will deliver all that and more...in spades! I had no idea what I was walking into never having read a book by Selena Laurence before. What I found is that I was utterly sucked in to the drama, sitting on pins and needles turning the pages, and waiting for the other shoe to drop. Damn but the woman can write!

Joss Jamison is the lead singer for the world's hottest rock band. He's got it all; looks, money, groupies...yet surrounded by all these people, all he ever feels is alone and unhappy.

Twelve months ago he made a mistake that can cost him everything; his band, his best friend, and the happiness that managed to remain. Drowning in an ocean of guilt, misery and regret, he doubts he'll ever be truly happy...

But then everything changes when Mel DiLorenzo comes back into his life as the band's new documentary photographer. Used to seeing Mel as the little sister of his best friend and bandmate's fiance, he's utterly shocked at the gorgeous woman that she's grown into. For a man that's been surrounded my people yet completely lonely most of his life, he's surprised at the pull that he has toward the stunning redhead.
I know almost instantly- this is it- I'm done. This woman will either be my salvation or the death of me. There is no question. I've lost control now that I've touched her. There's no going back, and she's the most spectacular thing I've ever experienced.

The story is told in dual person POV, which essential is what truly sucked me into the drama of it all. Joss is not the typical asshole womanizer rock star that you'd find in other books. He's very much broken, and the mistake that he made is unforgivable. Yet you can't seem to help but fall for him. You should hate him for what he did, yet your heart breaks for the painful struggle he faces. This was a mild case of insta-lust, but it completely worked for me. While Mel struggles against the connection they seem to have, Joss is relentless in his pursuit...yet he also manages to be so sweet during everything.
Even your imperfections are perfect to me. You are perfect to me. With me. You're meant to be mine.

Now don't get me wrong, as much as he was sweet, he also still had that dirty rock star side to him too.
Right now, I'm going to fuck the hell out of you. I'm going to fuck you hard and fast. Then, when I've taken some of the edge off for us, I'm going to fuck you long. So long that you're going to think you can't come one more time and stay in one piece.

I spent the first half of this book utterly conflicted. Here's the thing, I detest . That is typically the one thing that will ruin a book for me. Make him an asshole, make him a criminal, anything but that. The fact that I not only sympathized with Joss, but fell for him too, speaks volumes of the author's talent.

If there was one person I truly hated for a large amount of the story it was Tammy. I hated her even more since Walsh loves her so much. I couldn't see how I would ever forgive her, let alone read the 2nd book that has her as the MC. The author managed to pain her in such a light for the second half and then pull a complete 180 by the end. It's tough to explain how impressive this was without giving anything away, but that speaks even more for the brilliance of the writing here.

If you're looking for your next Rock star romance, this may just be that book for you. It may be angst filled and pack enough drama to make a soap opera jealous, but it's also a great love story about second chances and forgiveness.

Title: A Lush Betrayal
Series: Lush #1
Author: Selena Laurence
Release Date: February 26th, 2014
Rating: 3.5 stars
Cliffhanger: No
HEA:

Are you looking for your next angsty read? Hungry for rock star drama, full on tragic spectacle with romance throw in the mix? A Lush of Betrayal is not only it but a little bit more too. Think soap opera on steroids – lots of sex, romance, guilt and betrayal wrapped in pretty red bow, that only waits for you to be unwrapped.

From moody and heartbroken band leader, Joss Jamison through wild and angry other band members to two sisters that certainly know how to make Lush’s men blood boil, Selena Laurence delivered a novel that not only holds enough appeal to make you read in a single day, but makes you love and hate the characters that hold more than few terrible secrets. The question is are you ready to learn them all?

I was entertained enough to not to feel bored. A Lush of Betrayal certainly is action packed and clearly have plentiful of scenes that were crazy good. Yet it borders on being called ‘rock star version of soap opera’. It has some advantages of course – it doesn’t beat around the bush, isn’t perfect little, sweet novel and while the storyline has some clichés, I was to enchanted by characters and their actions to mind them, mostly. I was flying through pages in insane speed. What can I say? Sometimes, a little bit drama has some appeal.

I’m not sure if every reader would appreciate it though. If you are not a fan of books with damaged characters that like to make mistakes and are a magnet for trouble, you won’t be pleased with the story. On the contrary, if you enjoy seeing auto destructive behavior that slowly builds up and then finally make the storyline reach climax with a bang, then you sure as hell will feel glued to the pages. Sometimes I felt so pulled into the story it was hard to shake it off. I was like one of those fans of TV shows that make people wide-eyed as the film progress in need of more popcorn.

In nutshell, A Lush of Betrayal is instant entertainment on silver platter – easy, light read full of trouble, some guilt and sex and crazy rockers!

4.5 lush stars!

I didn't expect to love this story so much.

Selena Laurence is a new author to me and since I'm always up for reading about rock stars, I couldn't pass this up. I was expecting a typical rock star story but surprisingly, it was but typical.

Sure. The readers still get treated to the whole sex, drugs, and rock n' roll theme but it didn't detract from the story but added layers to it.

The main story is Joss and Mel. But to say that this book was only about them is misleading because there were other stories here too. While the book is told in two POV only, through these POVs, we get a glimpse of the Walsh and Tammy's story, Mike's bitterness and Colin's aloofness. I like how gray these characters were. There were moments where I hated certain characters but I understood them too, which is really a testament to the author's talent.

I won't go into the details of the story because I don't want to spoil it. Trust me, this is one of those books that needs to be experienced without prior knowledge whatsoever. But I do want to say that this was really more than a love story between Mel and Joss. It's about Joss and his love for music, his relationship with his father and his band. This is also about sisters and what you do when confronted with a choice between your heart and your family. The dynamics between the band are wonderfully done, IMO.

I loved Mel. She made some terrible decisions but I loved that she didn't whine about it. She made the most of the opportunity given to her. I was upset for her because everyone was pressuring her about her blossoming relationship with Joss and yet, no one really cared to find out about her. She was facing a huge challenge and no one noticed it except Joss. Poor girl but she handled it really well.

I'm glad I read this book. Gah! Now, I'm off to read the next book, which promises to be even more angsty than this one. :)

Rock Star Romance
Standalone
Leads: Joss Jamison & Mel DiLorenzo
Dual PoV

Joss' mistake or betrayal occurred (off page) before Mel went on tour with the band as a documentarian. It involved two other characters, including Mel's sister, Tammy. In regards to what the betrayal was, the book description for the prequel, A Lush Triangle, sort of gives it away. This situation added a good dose of angst to 'A Lush Betrayal.'

My issues with the story (take them with a grain of salt):
✖️I didn't quite connect with Mel. She was completely meh as a heroine. Maybe that's why I was hardly moved by her emotions.

✖️I also didn't see why Joss was instantly hooked with her. Nothing about these two falling for one another felt organic. I struggled to believe in them as a couple. Honestly, I might have been better sold on a connection between Joss and Tammy. They--at the very least--had a long and interesting history. In fact, I was worried about that at first, that Joss had possibly been in love with Tammy. But that wasn't so, of course. Phew.

What I loved/enjoyed:
√ Joss. He was a lot of what I love about rock star heroes. Heroes, period. I think he's why I'm rounding off to 4 Stars. He was an alpha going after what he wanted, no holds barred. There are some amazing quotes and grand gestures from Joss. The lyrics he wrote could be real songs! My favorite was, The Girl From Shangri-La. It was profound and the meaning behind the lyrics, heart-melting.

√ Walsh and Tammy. These two had a more believable romance story. I loved how much they loved each other. Childhood sweethearts and soulmates without a doubt. I might just read their book next because if anybody deserves a HEA, it's them. I have a feeling they're going to make me cry.

Notes:
No cheating between Joss & Mel, at all.
This felt like a slow-burn.

I'm not a rock star romance fan, but this was very well written. The angst comes from something that happens previously and not against the heroine, but......it completely overshadows the whole book. So, lots of angst. I won't continue the series, bc I'm not into rockers, but this was a nice 2-3 hour diversion. And did I say well written? Because it really was.

Let’s talk Rock star books...I’ve been there done, done that. So honestly, I haven’t read a good rock star book in a while. When one of my book besties, Heather from the Real Housewives of Romance approached me about reviewing A Lush Betrayal, I thought okay...I’ll give it a chance for two reasons:

1 The synopsis was so different, super angsty. You know instantly that these characters made a huge mistake they are paying for, and you know that secret is bound to come out right?

2 Heather said Selena is a really great author and needs someone to give her a chance, she needs some exposure. Heather is right! Selena's writing was spot on and she wrote realistic characters, who sometimes make bad decisions. They have insecurities and flaws like everyday people but my point is they seem real.

A Lush Betrayal was a GOOD Rock star book. The week that I read it, I then mentioned to Heather it was the best book that I had read that week. I really went back and forth about my rating on the book…4 stars or 4.5 stars...what to do! The only reason I did this is because the ending was a little rushed to me and I felt that Tammy and Walsh took away from Joss and Mel’s story. Even though I felt this way, I know in my head, there was no other way for Selena to tell the story except for the way that she did but my goodness, I just became so attached to Walsh and ached for him so I found myself more invested in him then Joss. And though I rooted for Joss and Mel throughout this book, and felt for Joss, god when that big moment hit me I was more concerned about Walsh and was like (see below)

Okay now for the story……

Mel DiLorenzo has just landed her first job as a photojournalist. She has been hired to make a documentary of Lush on tour. Mel’s sister Tammy is engaged to Walsh, the band’s drummer. This job is a dream come true and a Once In a Life Time opportunity for a recent graduate (or at least that’s what everyone thinks Mel is, they haven’t found out Mel’s secret yet).

Joss is the sexy, moody, quiet lead singer of Lush. Joss should be living the Rock star dream, instead he is sinking in despair and guilt….one night…a huge mistake….the ultimate betrayal he can’t take back. Then “Little D” walks into the room, that’s what they used to call Mel…and Mel’s not so little anymore, and Joss wants Mel. There’s just one problem, Tammy seems bound and determined to keep Joss and Mel apart. But no matter the warning, the chemistry between the two sizzles.

Mel makes me feel, for the first time in months, that there’s hope in my world. It’s like she can leach the darkness out of my past. I want to be in her orbit, feel her warmth, touch her light.

Soon Mel and Joss give in to the insane attraction between them, and they are happy, and things seem to be going well. Unfortunately, that mistake Joss made...his guilty conscience is killing him and the other person involved and it’s there in the background looming over, terrorizing his relationship with the woman he loves, his best friend, and his band.

“This is real baby, you and me. We’re the realest thing I’ve ever known. The way I feel when I see you across a room, the way you taste when I lick your skin, the way you sound when you gasp my name. That’s what’s real. That’s all that matters.“

When it comes to Rock star books, or heck books in general, A Lush Betrayal is a book I would definitely recommend. Gut-wrenching, full of angst, and passion……the story will completely consume you. Now, I anxiously wait for Walsh’s book!

I've read every one of Selena Laurence's books. She started out as a great writer and has only gotten better with each book but this one especially is absolutely standout. I think she found her stride here in Lush's world, and how could she not? The guys are everything you could want in a rock star story--young, full of life, passionate, sexy...yet, under the surface, deep and complex. Each character has his or her own demons and Laurence weaves them together so flawlessly that when the secrets come out, their entire world comes apart in a way that pulls at your heart. Because even though the characters each have their own faults, you can't help but love them anyway and cheer for their happy ending all the way through. I love celebrity stories so this book fulfilled a craving I'll never fully satisfy but anyone who loves a bad boy on the outside, but a loyal, loving man on the inside--and don't we all--will go crazy for Joss. And I suppose if we must watch him fall for another girl, Mel is a worthy rival. Looking forward to the rest of the series!

I didn't expect a good turn out for this book. It's pretty good.

Joss and Mel are a good combo. I like their chemistry. They both didn't come on too strong and their light-hearted moments were not too overwhelmed for me. At first, Joss was a bit of a turn-off. What happened between him and Tammy kind of made me rethink whether I wanted to continue on with the book. Love triangles are a NO-NO for me but I'm glad that Joss is deep and he's pretty emotional. You will love the pull he has with Mel and you won't be disappointed.

The story will basically tug at you and your not sure whether to be angst annoyed or just can't wait for it to be over. Also I love the rest of the characters. Tammy and Walsh, their story is next. That's definitely a must rest. Mike and Colin. Will I read more of Joss and Mel in the next books, I hope so :)

2.5 - 3 stars

It has been awhile since I've read a rockstar novel, so I was quite excited to read this novel.

I think It would have been better if Tammy & Joss' betrayal was kept secret coz it's kind of just became the main problem of the story. I couldn't enjoy Joss and D's moments coz in the back of my mind, the betrayal is gonna blow up, etc.

I like that Joss ain't the typical asshole rockstar, he knows what he wants though he's kind of cheezy sometimes.

I got bored around 50% of the story and I wanted to drop it but I wanted to read the climax...and it was...okay..

What I don't like about the story is that, there's no excitement, nothing to look forward to, well, aside from the blow up, but that's just it.

Am I satisfied? No, but it was okay..

4.5 - Joss is amazing - stars!

If you love rock star romances, you have to read this book! It has the perfect amount of angst and a sweet love story.

Joss is the voice and the face of the rock band, Lush. From the outside it appears that Joss is living the dream. He is a rock star after all, and has a constant stream of girls throwing themselves at him. But, looks can be deceiving. He feels lonely and wants someone that really sees him, not just his the rock god status.
"That's me - the brooding, damaged rock star. I'm a fucking cliché."
Joss is struggling with a tremendous amount of guilt, it's almost too much to live with. He slept with, Tammy, his best friend, Walsh's, fiancé. Walsh is the drummer for, Lush, and they've been best friends since they were kids. When Walsh checked into rehab to deal with his drinking, Joss and Tammy were devastated and turned to one another for comfort. Tammy and Joss, were best friends, but that's ruined now. They haven't ever talked about what happened that night, or confessed to Walsh. Instead, they avoid each other whenever possible, and try to deal with the relentless guilt. But, it isn't easy because Tammy is one of the band's managers.

Tammy's younger sister, Mel, is a photo journalist and Tammy hires her to capture a behind the scenes look at the band while they're on tour. There's an instant connection between Mel and Joss. But, Mel has Tammy in her ear warning her to stay away from him. Joss won't give up, because Mel sees him for who he truly his, beyond the music. They are so hot together! But, keeping secrets can have devastating effects, sometimes for everyone closest to you. And both Mel and Joss have them.
"You are perfect to me. For me. With me. You're meant to be mine."
This book sucked me in immediately and I couldn't put it down! All of the guys in the band are great in their own way, and I can't wait for their stories. I highly recommend this book.
"I take his hand and hold it over my heart. "Do you feel that?" I ask. He nods, his breathing heavy and his hand trembling. "It needs you, Joss. I need you. Only you."

Betrayal does not have to be between two people...it can be between 5 people (Lush), 3 best friends (Joss, Walsh and. Tammy) or a group of people you consider your family (The Band, roadies etc...) or just with the one person you finally fall in love with (Melanie).....but Betrayal can mean different things to different people because of the circumstances. Joss feels he has let all the above down because he was not in control...but he was not the only person in this situation and a different situation caused the betrayal.....

Joss finally finds the love of his life, something that he has always wanted to have like Walsh and Tammy have but one moment in time can make your whole world crash around you even if you have been trying so hard to protect the people involved for a year so no one gets hurt. But keeping a secret, we all know never turns out the way you want it to. The truth always comes out !

Melanie has her own issues....possibly not graduating college, inappropriate conduct with a sleazy professor, wrong grades given so favoritism doesn't show and Tammy, Mel's sister filling her head with nonsense about Joss and his practices with woman.....but what Tammy doesn't knows is that Joss isn't the same man around Melanie.

Can Joss the Rock Star repair the damage that was created and get Melanie the bands photojournalist back in his life after he has lost so much ! Can they make a life for themselves to live happily ever after, after all that has happened in one split second ?

I received this ARC book in return for my honest review and I honestly LOVED it. The story was well written and the details of people lives was so descriptive you felt like you were there with them.

It is a MUST read !! I can't. Wait for more in this series !!

Not a bad book, Mel was pretty likeable, and so was Joss (apart from the cheating). I didn’t so much have a problem with the one night of cheating between Tammy and Joss, don’t get me wrong it was bad, but really fucked up circumstances. What I had more of a problem with was Joss thinking he was in love with Tammy, and the falling for her sister, it tainted everything for me. Also, he reckons he does not love Tammy, but the song he wrote tells me otherwise. I also felt like Tammy and Joss worried a lot more about Walsh’s pin when everything was revealed, and not Mel’s, which is not ok. Joss should have fought harder for Mel, instead of checking on her or trying to make amends he just leaves her to deal with the fallout. Also, not a Tammy fan, maybe she is better in the next book, but I don’t care. She is controlling and selfish. Apprently she is always there for people, but it seemed more she just wanted people to do what she approved of. I got why she didn’t want Joss and Mel together, but how hippocritical that Joss can not be happy, but she kept her secret and stayed with Walsh! Tammy was pretty nasty, and was someone who cheated, but because she had a breakdown and played the victim everyone just felt sorry for her and rallied round, I am not buying it!

I like this book, I didn't love it. There were some cute parts but for me it was too much.
Joss and Mel just meet and feel a pull, another insta lust. Sigh. Within two chapters they say they have changed each other's lives and are vital to one another. I don't see how it's plausible. But whatevs.
I liked Joss. He was the typical tortured lead singer. He even states it himself which is funny.
Mel was alright. A little on the immature side. She allows the opinions of others to influence her quite a bit.

My main issue with this book was how over dramatic everyone was!! Everything was so blown up. I was like ok you cheated, so you're going to have a mental and physical breakdown?! A little extreme in my opinion.

Who of us doesn't love a hot sexy badboy! I know I do, and when he's a mega awesome rockstar? In my mind the only words are " Heck yeah baby bring it!"

In the new Selena Laurence book we meet mega sexy rockstar Joss but beneath the sexier than hell body and perfect dreamy image lies a man that holds a secret close to his heart. A secret that can destroy lives and cost him his band, friends and his fans. So he keeps up the perfect show and simply smiles and waves for the crowd.

Bring in Mel with her sweet smile, tempting eyes and hotter than hot body and Joss falls at her feet in a heartbeat. But when Mel realizes she has walked into a world filled with heartache, deception and anger instead of a close knit band rocking it out as one big happy family, she quickly becomes the one that wants to heal Joss, but of course this is easier said than done. For most of all she realizes that Joss's secret might just destroy their new found happiness.

This book was off the hook hot! The characters were very well written and each so unique in their own right that to me they all too soon became real. I loved how Mel and Joss both have this "Don't want to be this person" issue. It showed them both as the same even though they appear to the world as so very different.

What I loved most about the book was the secrets and the outcome it can have, it made the read so intriguing and mysterious and kept me flipping away at the pages to get to the end. The character of Joss reminded me that even when we are famous we can still hide away behind a mask, we look like we have the perfect life but behind the glitz and the glam there is still a real person that hurts just like you and me and has secrets just like the rest of us. Through this character the author reminded me that it is always best to be ourselves and not pretend to be someone else, for how will you ever know if someone loves you for the real you.

The character of Mel was one that I felt truly connected to, I myself have two sisters who have achieved many things that I have not yet or could not , you have tried but failed and it does irk you that they can do it but you can't. You're from the same DNA so why not? But the author did a fantastic job at showing that we are all unique and just because you cannot do something someone else can't does not mean no one will want or need you. We are all unique and each of us has a special something, we just need to step up to the plate and dare to find it.

The author offered up some very memorable characters and a really nice easy flow read, with just the right dose of angst added to make me shout out " That was freaking unbelievably awesome!"

I am taking away a message none of us can control who we are or what our actions are for the most of the time, but we can control who we want to be. If you wish to be an honest stand up kind of guy it can be done, if you wish to be seen as a actual person instead of just the one that is related to "that" person it can be done. All you need to do is find the real you inside before unleashing it on the world. And never hide from the truth, accept your past failures as a life lesson to be remembered but not let it eat away at your soul, it can and will destroy you and the ones you love, we're all human and everyone makes mistakes.

I recommend this read for any fan of rockstar romance reads. It was crazy fun, sensual and super sexy and left a very emotional message.

Betrayal. It's the most heart wrenching word in the English language. The consequences of living with betrayal are physical, mental and emotional. Like acid eats through stone, the guilt of living with his betrayal is slowly destroying Joss Jamison's life. Just when he begins to think that despair is going to overtake his life Joss meets Melanie DiLorenzo, and it's like the sun has broken through the clouds after a rainy day. Never before has Joss felt such a deep emotional connection to a woman, and by some miracle, Melanie seems to be falling just as deeply in love with Joss as he is with her. But heaven can not be fully captured on earth, and the fear of his sins being discovered continue to cast a shadow, no matter how deeply Joss tries to bury the memory, some things can never be forgotten.

A Lush Betrayal is the story of Joss Jamison, lead singer of Lush, the hottest rock and roll band to hit the music scene since Pearl Jam changed the face of rock and roll to become the most popular American band of the '90s.

Supremely well written and expertly edited, the cast of characters includes fellow band members Mike, Colin and Walsh. The four men have been together since forming the band in high school. More like brothers than friends, their complex relationships with each other add a deeper layer of emotional turmoil to a story that is already guaranteed to keep you on the edge of your seat.

Tammy DiLorenzo, older sister to Mel and Walsh's high school sweetheart, is the glue that hold the four band members together while on tour.

Dave Keller, the manager that has been with them since the Lush's early days, is helpless to do anything other than watch the band and it's members slowly begin to fall apart. As Joss's betrayal, which is not as secret as he originally believed, begins to eat away at them all.

A Lush Betrayal is more than the story of a rock and roll band and their turbulent rise to fame. It's more than the story of a perfect love growing between two flawed beings. What this story is about is human nature. It draws readers down to the deepest depths of despair, allows us to ride along on the tail of a shooting star, and showcases the strength of will and spirit of hope that enables even the most damaged of souls to rise like a phoenix from the ashes of life's greatest failures.

This is a must-read work of pure heart that dares to go beyond boy-meets-girl and tackle life is really about. If I could give it more than 5 stars, I would.

***I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.***

Joss Jamison is the smouldering hot, lead singer of Lush. A rock band on the their way to the very top. He is offered everything and generally takes it, with little thought of repercussions. It's exactly this problem that has made his life turn upside down. After 1 mistake that should never have happened he is living with the guilt every second of every day. Lush is off on tour over summer and in comes Mel, she's there to document the tour through photographs and their life behind the scenes. She's the sister of Tammy, the drummer Walsh's fiancée. Mel is gorgeous and spirited, and like a breath of 'fresh air' to Joss. He knows he wants her and has to have her. She is making him crazy. Yet, who she is...Is a problem in so many ways. A fresh stab of guilt and pain but at the same time new feelings for Mel.
To start with I thought this is going to be an easy breezy read. It absolutely was. Smooth and great pace. I loved the setting of the rock band on tour, another bad boy to drool over. Yet beneath all that, lies a tangled web of emotion and secrets all swirling around waiting to eat people up and come out and cause chaos. When things got good, I just knew it was coming, the 's*** was going to hit the fan'.
So about 3/4's of the way through, things start to change. One of the party involved in all the mess ends up in a nasty situation and by then I must admit I was already chewing my nails, holding my breath, AND holding back the floodgates. It was quite hard work! From there on everything tumbles down, a perfect wall crumbling down on top of itself. Nobody is spared in the mess, everyone is left hurt and wounded. I was left blubbing! (Not pretty) Yet after all this, things have to start from fresh and try to be fixed. Clean slates and all that. In some twisted way of thinking I think it was meant to be and for the best. Amazing ending, really perfect. I was left a mess but smiling through my snotty mess. :) Great read.

I received a copy from the author in exchange for my honest review, so here it is. The story of Joss Jamison and his betrayal of his friends is eating him alive. It has destroyed his friendship with Walsh, who is like a brother, and Tammy, Walsh's girlfriend since they were 14 years old. Walsh and Tammy are Joss's family for more years than he can count. And after his mother died and Walsh goes through rehab, Joss is fighting his despair and the betrayal that keeps his world in the dark. That is until Melanie walks into his world. Mel is Tammy's younger sister, and Joss sees the light he is searching for. Can Mel help Joss to move from the darkness into the light? Will Joss's betrayal keep eating him alive or will it be revealed? Will the band and members of Lush survive when the betrayal is revealed? This is a perfect story that will tear out your heart and having you crying. I was crying so hard, I had to stop reading and walk away until I calmed down. There are not many stories that get to me like this one. The last one was The Edge of Never by J.A. Redmerski. This book has ripped my heart out and Selena has put it back together. Another great story by Selena Laurence and I can't wait for more.

5 Glowing Shining Stars!!!

Argh!!! I have a big book hangover and haven't picked up another one since finishing A Lush Betrayal last night....I started it the night before last and as I said finished it last night, I couldn't and didn't want to put it down.

I won't go into the storyline as I'm sure you've read the blurb if your reading this and this review will be spoiler free as I can't stand reviews full of spoilers, what's the point in reading a book if you know what's going happen, lol.

So onto the good stuff..... This book is based around the band Lush, now I love me a story based on bands and band members, I don't why but if I can find a good'un I'm over the moon and this book didn't disappoint me at all and it's actually one of the best ones I've read and I now have a new book crush that is Joss Jamieson...the rock god. All of the characters were believable and likeable and the story flowed brilliantly at the right pace.

Well done Selena on an amazing book and I can't wait for book 2 - For the Love of a Lush <3 xx

Exaggeration overloaded but thank god it was short! Story development was very weak! Overall Joss's loneliness only made sense and i was a little emotional and sad to read them parts and not to mention the author did pretty good job on that only!

Mini-Review:

I pretty much gave up on the story when I realized that not much happened by the middle of the book. It should have been sexy, fun and etc but I was mostly bored and there was zero material in the story to make it a cool romance with a rock star.

I really like her writing style, the basically-insta-love story line was a bit predictable and dragged out though. Will probably try the next in series.
