I have wanted nick's story since book one and I so loved it. I really like this series but sometimes I feel like a few of the books in this series were missing something, but this one hit the nail on the head for me. I loved Nick and adored Calla. Love the struggling and overcoming they had to do to be mates and find love again. I love how strong Calla was for Nick. The last book Cole's Redemption I had found the some of the sex cheesy and laughable, but The sex between Nick and Calla was hott! This book was much better than the last not that the last was one bad this one was just better. The End fight was wow had me on the edge the whole time I am reading and I am all like "NO! NO NO this can't be happening!!!! What Aric No, OMG OMG Jaxon NO Oh Shit Oh thank GOD everyone is ok now! WHEW thanks blue WHAT NO Not Kalen!! " That was me yelling at my kindle at 1am While my Children are sleeping lol. Great book and a great read, but I would say read the whole series in order so you don't miss important plots. Can't wait for the next one :)

I have mixed feelings about this book. When I started reading the Alpha Pack series, I instantly fell in love with the characters, their mission and the exciting plots that captured my attention in each story. After the third book, I noticed the dynamics of the story starting to change. The fourth and fifth books were not as enjoyable as the previous ones.

My interest began waning with the introduction of vampires into the series. Don’t get me wrong, I love vampires and I enjoy the new characters but something was changed for me. The stories were pretty much forgotten and I was very saddened by that.

I felt a little bit of that magic as I read WOLF’S FALL. I thought the plot was good and I loved the introduction of new characters but what kept me from really loving this book was that I felt things were wrapped up too quickly or completely glossed over without adequate explanation or satisfaction. I can’t give examples without revealing spoilers so I apologize for my overt vagueness.

What really drove me crazy were all the questions I have now that the book is over. Whether it was accidental or done purposely to draw out the mystery, I’ll never know. Yes, I had some issues with the story, but I am also chomping at the bit for more! What a clever, clever author you are J.D. Tyler. I’m looking forward to what you have in store for the boys of Alpha Pack.

Since this is an audio review, let me start there. Marguerite Gavin narrates this book. Looking at the previous books, she is new to this series. I haven't heard the rest of the books so I can only talk about my experience with this book but I don't think it was a great change. I didn't enjoy her voices. Particularly, Nicks voice. She made him sound like a grouchy old man. I guess as a 200 year old natural born shifter, he is old but it doesn't show at all, otherwise. Anyway, I don't think I would listen to another book by this narrator.

I started this series in book 5, Cole's Redemption. Check MY REVIEW here http://www.stuckinbooks.com/2014/12/c.... The ending of that one set-up this one and I was interested in how a wolf that had been tortured by a vamp would ever be okay with a vamp as his mate. So I picked this one to find out.

I enjoyed this world where a top secret pack of shifters protects the world from paranormal problems. Nick is a great leader who has faced more than a few struggles in his over 200 years. That makes the story serious and full of battle. It's also full of sexy times every time Nick and his new mate Calla find themselves alone. Didn't matter if that was under a waterfall or in a cabin alone. These two are hot together.

The larger story of the group in the series moves forward as well. I am missing pieces as I didn't read the first 4 books but it makes sense anyway. I enjoy the other characters even if I don't know all their back history. It was nice to see Zan again. I'm glad he's doing better.

If you love the paranormal romance with a side of extra hot and sexy, then this book will appeal to you.

WOLF'S FALL presented a protagonist with PTSD due to a torture incident with a vampire which was a pretty interesting problem to load onto a character. While I don't know to much about what PTSD is like I thought it portrayed the struggles of someone who has gone through a heavy trauma very well. He's not completely fixed by the end through magically finding 'the one' which I though was very respectful and posed an unique problem when Nick finds himself attracted to Calla, a vampire which brings on the torture flashbacks and anxiety for Nick.

His relationship with Calla; while that of instant attraction actually starts off as a nice partnership which quickly becomes a romance. It was kind of nice to have the couple not have any real animosity towards eachother especially since I've been reading a lot of those types of romances lately. There's no hate-to-love here, just them coping with their own internal issues and eventually coming together in the end once they learn to accept their loses.

As a backdrop to Nick and Calla's relationship development is the characters' race to prevent a vampire war. The worldbuilding and the intriguing politics are pretty fascinating. While WOLF'S FALL can be read as a standalone I'd reccommend reading some of the previous books to get a better grasp on who is who and what is happening especially since the events that happen in this book are a direct result of what happened in the previous COLE'S REDEMPTION.

Oh how authors love to torture their characters. (SPOILER IF YOU HAVENT READ THE PREVIOUS BOOKS) Poor Nick Westfall – leader of the Alpha pack - was tormented by a vampire in the previous book so much so that he can’t stand the thought of ever being bitten again. So who does his mate turn out to be… a Vampire Princess. At the beginning of this book Nick had a lot of weight on his shoulders that was almost more than he could bear. But with the help of Calla – his mate – he manages to get past his dark thoughts to a point which is a good thing because there is an evil vampire out for revenge against him and Calla’s brother.

This is a continuing series that needs to be read in order. Many things cross over between the books in the team ongoing fight against the evil creatures out there. I liked that Nick finally got his story and a well deserved mate but my favorite part of the book was a big part Blue played. He has been a secondary character from the beginning who doesn’t do any field work but boy did he get some action in this book.

Love this series and always look forward to the next book…

Why you should read it: This is the sixth book in J.D.'s Alpha Pack series and centers on the commander and the princess, Nick and Calla. This can be read as a stand-alone, though it's funnier and better as part of the series. I say this because I love Nick and have been waiting for him to have his chance at love. The problem is that Calla is a vampire. There's innately a lot of things to work out, not to mention he's an empath and constantly overthinks his mistakes and what he can and can't do for the future. I think Calla is the perfect strong heroine to pair with him, though she has a lot of her work cut out for her. I will say that the overlying plot and conflict are amazing, but I wanted just a bit more relationship building. I also really hope there's a novella or more of these two in the next book. I want to see how they work out, what happens in another few months and, more important, I want to see just how much Nick will grow and heal by Calla's side.

The Alpha Pack series is fully of strong, hard-hitting action, but also heroes who pay a hard price to do their duty and police the paranormal world that lives along side the humans. This latest installment is no exception. Nick, as the leader of the Alpha Pack, has been a recurring character all the way through the series. He has been the strong, remote, cool under fire leader, but something happened at the end of the last book that left him in a very bad place. This was his story with his second chance at romance with a new mate, his road to recovery from the torture and personal assault he under went, and a battle with an unknown vengeful enemy. I was emotionally engaged with Nick's storyline from the beginning and loved the heroine that he was paired with. Calla is no warrior vampire princess, but she is strong in the ways that matter when it comes to dealing with her broken wolf mate that needs her patience and understanding as well as her love to finish healing him.

The series has a continuity and flow to it that makes better sense when it is read in order and that is what I would recommend even though I personally started in the middle and worked my way forward while going back and picking up the first few stories as I've had time.

The story picks up with Nick in a very bad place and it is only the intervention of a close friend and the vampire who is his fated mate that keeps him from ending it all. He is tired from all that lie has thrown at him and his world was turned upside down so that he doesn't know if he can pull himself back together. He has responsibilities that way him down, family issues that still need healing and a future mate if he can get past who and what she is. He wants to do the right thing, but can't seem to find his way.

Calla sensed that the Alpha Pack Commander is her mate even though they shared only one short moment before he ran from her because she is a vampire. Calla knows enough about Nick's torturous time with one of her own race that she knows not to take his desertion personally, but she is lonely and for the first time in decades she is ready to move past the loss of her former mate. Her brother seeks to do some matchmaking, but Calla has plans to do a bit of matchmaking of her own with a certain handsome white wolf. Slowly Calla coaxes Nick back, helping him heal from his suffering and moving away from the trauma that keeps him from completing their mate bond.

Meanwhile, a third party plots out a fiendish revenge against those who destroyed his happiness. He will make the vampire coven and the Alpha Pack pay dearly for ruining his life. The enemy puts his human hunters, rogue vampires and mysterious powerful Jinn forward to make them all pay. And as they never see him coming? He will win.

This latest installment was super good with its development of Nick and Calla's passionate romance. I loved that the author didn't make Nick's recovery a quick or easy thing. He really struggled and in the process it was hard on Calla too as he pulled away or freaked out on her. The pacing was good on that. As to the pairing of Nick and Calla. She is a gentle soul that has developed a lot of personal strength and wisdom in her long life. She was so sweet and passionate with her rough wolf warrior. They were very good together and for each other. I look forward to more glimpses of them as the series moves on.

I also liked that this book teased out a bit more about Nick's inter-personal relationships with his daughter, Selene, and his bestfriend, Hammer, and even the brother he has conflicted feelings about. There was so much else going on, but I liked that this side of Nick's story was not neglected.

The new shadowy enemy with his powerful ally, Jinn, and stooges was a worthy villain too. I enjoyed the twists and turns his plotting took and that who he was and why he was so vengeful stays hidden until late in the story so there was a nice build up of tension. Oh and Jinn, he's an ambivalent, mysterious powerful being and I look forward to more encounters with him.

The battles with all the Alpha Pack and the vampires against their enemies kept things moving along. I've always like that though the good guys are strong, gifted and skilled fighters, they don't have it easy. Their battles are brutal on them and there are no guarantees. A few times my heart was in my throat wondering how the author was going to make things good. That surprising eleventh hour help from a surprising powerful source was awesome.

As usual, one of my favorite parts is the camaraderie amongst the Alpha Pack brothers and their allies. There are some nice little side stories continuing or starting to develop and I can't wait to see where they go.

All in all, this was all that I wanted it to be- passionate and exciting. It was chalked full of the action, romance, strong characters, and intrigue that I've come to love about this series. Paranormal Romance lovers should definitely find their way to this series particularly those who enjoy spicy romance and their paranormal worlds full of a variety of paranormals.

My thanks to Penguin Group and Net Galley for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for my honest review.

Wolf's fall is book 6 in JD Tyler's Alpha Pack and finally gives Nick Westfall his story.

The Alpha Pack works with the government and patrols the supernatural world. Many of the pack was changed unwillingly or rather unknowingly but there are a few "natural" wolf shifters and our hero, Nick Westfall is just that.

Nick came into the Alpha pack, when their first leader was killed (although, I am wondering if he is really alive and will turn up eventually). When Nick came in he had to work with an already tight unit but over time he has managed to become one of them.

We learned quite a bit about Nick in the last book, Cole's Redemption. We discover what sent this wonderful man on to the path he now follows and why no matter what he does he feels unworthy. A sad fact because he is an awesome leader. In Cole's Redemption, Nick was captured by an evil vamp and well, used.. This has left him dealing with a form of PTSD.. he is ashamed of his weakness and he now has a decided problem with Vamps and their feeding methods. I guess for your average wolf, it wouldn't be that huge of a problem. Of course Nick isn't your average wolf and it seems his mate, she's a vamp.. Not just any vamp but the princess vamp.

Calla Shaw has grieved long enough and is finally making her way back into living her life. It would be easier if her brother would stop trying to fix her up with all the eligible vampires. But she is working around it and him. So when it turns up that she has another mate and he's a wolf, Calla is able to accept it. Only she's not sure her family will and heaven forbid her recalcitrant mate goes with the flow.

Along with dealing with a mate who is literally afraid of being bit.. Calla is trying to help figure out who their new enemy is and Nick has got to step up..

Another good book by Ms. Tyler. I will say that my usual dislike of tossing Vampires and Shifters together was averted. This series was a "mixed" series from the very beginning. Sure Vampires were just introduced into the mix but we had sorcerers and fae and evil fae and jaguar shifters and... so tossing in a vamp or two, it works. Making a vamp/shifter mating well it's the supernatural world why wouldn't they?

An excellent series.. and while this is not my favorite book of the series, it held enough power and intensity to capture my attention. I can honestly say, this is a must read series..

The Alpha commander of a pack of military wolf shifters, the hero is tortured by his experience as a captive to an enemy vampire who raped him. As a result he is depressed an considers suicide though it's clear he never really takes it seriously. On top of his rape, he's tormented by a past mistake that robbed him of his mate, daughter and pack.

The heroine mourns the loss of her own mate who was murder by the hunters. They are instantly attracted to each other and figure out quite quickly that they are mates. Though the hero wrestles with the fact that she's a vampire his wolf won't deny her being his, but after they sleep together and the heroine has the urge to bite him, he freaks out and runs. He tries to come to terms with the fact that she does want to bite him as is her nature but he can't stop it from bring up memories of his attack.

Honestly I did feel like the characters were wishy-washy. The hero was severely damaged by his imprisonment if he's that depressed but the fact that his mates a vampire didn't really bother him as much as the first chapter said it would. Also when the heroine bites him the first time, the hero instantly finds pleasure in it.

This was the case with every conflict in the book. It's built up like it's going to be a real problem, how will these characters ever overcome their difference...oh, It's solved. I guess it wasn't a problem after all? It was lukewarm and dull. And I also didn't like the fact that the author made this mucho bigger than life hero from the previous books into a weak, I almost die after every single battle pussy.

Honestly, the dude almost died about 3 times, the heroine almost died about twice... But, in the aspect of the chemistry between the characters I felt like it was a solid 7 of 10. The sex scenes were explicit and anything but routine. Overall, this is a very basic book to read. It won't get you heart pumping but if you get it for free, it's worth a read.

***Warning***
If you have not read Cole’s Redemption you may not want to read this book yet. The events that happened in book 5 shape the dynamic of book 6. You have been warned. I will do my best to keep the review spoiler free for those who have not read book 5 yet.
***End of Warning***

Wolf’s Fall picks up after the devastating events in Cole’s Redemption. I can remember reading Cole’s Redemption thinking how on earth could Ms. Tyler let this happen to Nick. Not my big strong Nick. But at last it did happen and Nick has to try to move on. Which is not an easy thing for him to do. Through in the fact that he just met his mate and she is of all things a vampire.
Wolf’s Fall took me on a lot of highs and lows. Lows as to how low Nick really is. Highs that Calla is there for him. Lows of the suffering that Calla has to endure. Highs that Nick finally sees the light. All in all this was a very good book and a really quick read for me. There were just a few holes in the story for me. Things moved very quickly, which is fine but I would have like to see more relationship building.

Even with that I am so very very glad that Nick got his story and hope that this will lead him on the path of healing.

If you are a fan of the Alpha Pack you will surely enjoy Nick’s book, especially after Cole’s Redemption.

This is another great Alpha Pack novel but parts seemed just a little rushed like the ending and a few moments between Nick and Calla when it came to her needing blood. I like Nick and there is something about a strong alpha struggling with personal demons that appeal to me. Calla is a strong self-assured woman but still very likeable so they were a perfect match. Her understanding and patience worked perfectly with his story. And boy the romance was hot. A very enjoyable book in keeping with the Alpha Pack tradition.

Starts out with Nick seriously contemplating suicide.

But, over the course of the book, he accepts his mate and learns to deal with his demons (and make up with his brother).

You just thought we got all the bad guys in the last book, because there's somebody else equally bad in this one...

REVIEW: 4.25 stars-WOLF’S FALL is the sixth installment in JD Tyler’s contemporary, adult Alpha Pack paranormal romance series focusing on a top secret team of wolf shifters-The Alpha Pack. The series history reveals that a group of psychic Navy Seals had been biologically enhanced and experimentally forced into a lifestyle not of their choosing, waking to a new world as shifters and wolves. Finding their way back, they will come under the command of Nick Westfall and his Pack.

WOLF’S FALL is Alpha Pack Commander Nick Westfall and vampire princess Calla Shaw’s storyline. Although this is the sixth book in the series, it can be read as a stand alone without too much difficulty. Any important information is imparted where necessary. JD Tyler provides some history and pertinent background information as the story develops.

Nick is a reluctant commander. He is tired, depressed and as leader of the Alpha Pack he sees himself as a failure. Nick suffers from PTSD-held prisoner and tortured, years earlier, by a sadistic vampire-Nick is broken and damaged. He knows Calla is his mate but losing his first mate to the vampire who destroyed his life, Nick refuses to accept and claim Calla as his own. To complicate matters Nick is reluctant to allow Calla to feed from his vein as it brings back too many horrific and shameful memories.

The relationship between Calla and Nick is one of immediate attraction. Calla and Nick know that each is the other’s mate but Nick’s reluctance to accept Calla and the encroaching vampire war finds our couple teaming together to save both the coven and the Pack. Both Calla and Nick have previously loved and lost; finding new mates is as much a surprise to both. The sex scenes are intimate, seductive and energetic.

Told from third person point of view, the storyline follows a war on the horizon. Vampires and werewolves will be forced to work together to save the people that they know and love but a powerful unknown foe and a coven of rogue vampires has targeted Nick, Calla and Calla’s brother Prince Tarron for destruction. Several wolves and vampires will face their immortality in the ensuing battle. JD Tyler’s storylines consist of an ensemble cast of characters including wolves, vampires, jinn, sorcerers, shifters and more; many of the previous storyline couples play a secondary role throughout the premise and building story.

My only complaint is the number of times our hero (and other Alpha Pack storyline heroes) must face the possibility of death. For a leader and alpha Nick seems powerless against most of his enemies; he lays injured, tortured or dying on numerous occasions and his fellow warriors appear to face their immortality just as often (in this book and others). I think this team of former Navy Seals is in need of some more combat training. ;) Also, if a man has black hair and dark eyes, why would he shift into a white wolf? Would it not make sense that the hair color in human form match the color of the shifter wolf coat? Hmmmmm !

JD Tyler’s world of shifters and vampires is full of action, suspense, romance and love. The characters are colorful, fallible, passionate and controversial. The Alpha Pack soldiers are honorable warriors who are willing to die to protect their leader and friends. Vampires are a new addition to the series-introduced in book five Cole’s Redemption-and with it comes a new direction for the storylines.

J.D. Tyler brings readers another great book in the Alpha Pack series, Wolf's Fall. This is book six and features the leader of the pack, Nick Westfall. Readers who follow the series know Nick as the pack Alpha who has been through a lot both physically and emotionally. In Wolf's Fall Nick finds his mate in the vampire princess, Calla, but their relationship is not without it's obstacles. Tyler gives readers a multi-layered story that is both complex and riveting. The passion between the characters is palpable and readers will be quickly lost in the beauty of this story. A great addition to the series.

What I liked:

If you've been a fan of this series, then I am certain you have been waiting with bated breath for this book. Nick's story has been a long time coming and it was well worth the wait. J.D. Tyler has given readers a very special wolf in pack leader, Nick Westfall, he is the only born wolf in the pack and is the ultimate leader, but because of recent events he has lost confidence in himself and in his ability to lead. His emotions in the beginning of the book are very much in turmoil and he is a danger even to himself. He was the definition of a tortured hero. Tyler must have known that Nick's story had to be very special. It had to be passionate but also easy to engage with and I think a lot of readers will sympathize with Nick's worries if not with his way of solving them.

Calla is the perfect mate for this Alpha but because of his recent torture at the hands of a vampire, he is reminded over and over of what happened to him when he is near her. They both have their own demons to conquer and eventually they begin to see each other not as shifters and vampires, but as a man and a woman who have feelings for each other. I didn't like the idea that Nick might need a woman to pull him out of his depression or that it was necessary to have someone in order to do that and I was glad that Tyler let Calla comfort him and be with him, but she was not his salvation. He had to find that within himself and I was happy that's the way the author chose to go with that part of the story.

There is action and of course a lot of steam in this book, it would not be Alpha Pack if there wasn't. That is always one of my favorite parts of the book, finding out what the entire team has gotten themselves mixed up in now. This time it is keeping a vampire war at bay. This was essential to the story even though the focus was on the romance in this book. I liked getting to know Calla's family better in this one and finding out what was going with them as well.

Bottom Line:

This is a great paranormal romance series and this is one of the best books so far. Tyler does such a good job with characterization and her portrayal of Nick was a joy to read. He was the epitome of a tortured hero, but in mind and spirit and I loved watching him come back to himself and find the will to go on. Calla was a great heroine for him. She stood toe to toe with him and he needed that.

My review and an extended sample of the audiobook are posted at Hotlistens.com.

In this book, we have Nick, the Alpha Pack's alpha. He is a born wolf, which makes him pretty much immortal. He is a couple hundred years old. In a previous book, Nick was taken by vampires and was traumatized when one fed from him. Vampires feeding are quite a sexual experience. It left him with a case of PTSD and starts the book off in a very bad place in his own head.

Calla is a vampire princess. She has already lost her mate. She is very understanding of Nick's predicament with his fear of vampires. Her ability to see past Nick's faults and to work with him, really show what a perfect mate she is for the old Commander. She isn't the kick ass heroine that I normally look for in a book, but she has some really great traits that endear her all the same. Even though she isn't a trained warrior, she picks up a gun and helps in the fight.

In this story, the Alpha pack are called to help their new vampire allies with some rogues that are attacking their coven. It takes a while to figure out how these vampires have the information. There is mole in the coven or the pack. There is also some serious motivation to attack.

This series once again delivers a great story with interesting characters. Not only do we have shifters, most of which who are werewolves, and vampires, there are also several other species, including the Fae prince who has been exiled from him realm. There is also a new species that is introduced in the series who is playing for the bad guys.

While this is the sixth book in the series, you could read/listen to this one as a stand alone, but probably isn't quite as good as if you had read the whole series. For those of you familiar with this series, the story takes place mostly at the vampire's coven. We don't see as much of the characters from the compound. We do see some of the characters of previous books, but only in a side role.

Narration
Normally, I'm not a fan of changing narrators mid-series, however, I think in this case, I won't be complaining. While I didn't dislike Kirsten Potter, I felt she was an average narrator. Marguerite Gavin is a way above average narrator. Her pace and tone are always perfect for the scene. She does a great job with both male and female voices. She really brings the story to life. She is a narrator that I've looked at other series based mostly on the fact that she was the narrator.

I like to thank Tantor Audio for providing me with a copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

I love J.D. Tyler's Alpha Pack series and was sooooo excited to finally get Nick's book. After all, he is the only born wolf in the pack and he is the Alpha of the alphas. After everything that he's been through in prior books and from what we've been told about his past, I knew Wolf's Fall, the sixth book in the Alpha Pack series, was going to be great. Even more so when we found out that a vampire was his mate. Also it doesn't hurt that I picture Taylor Kinney as Nick. That dark hair touched with gray and all those muscles?! *swoons* If you don't know who he is, do a Google image search. I promise it will be worth your time.

Calla is a vampire princess and not at all what Nick wanted or thought he needed in a mate. Because of events that took place in book five, Cole's Redemption, Nick and Calla had a lot of obstacles to overcome but in the end, their courtship was brilliantly written and I devoured it. Just know that unlike some paranormal romance series, you will not be able to follow Wolf's Fall without having read the other books. These books build off of one another and Nick's book was setup in Cole's Redemption. You really don't want to miss out on the events that caused Nick's mental trauma and thus wreaked havoc on his bonding with Calla.

Nick is a precog and in Wolf's Fall he had visions of both Nix and Micah so I am unsure as to whom the next book in the series will be about. I do know that Ms. Tyler does plan to do a m/m book for Nix and Noah and I couldn't be more thrilled about it. That said, I don't know if it will be a full length book or a novella. Either way, I'm all over it!

I also want to add that I'm thrilled with the change in narrator for the series. It's not that the old narrator was bad, but Marguerite Gavin is exceptional and really added to the depth and emotion in Wolf's Fall. I really hope that she also narrates future books in the series.

I can't praise the Alpha Pack series enough. It is one of my all-time favorite paranormal romance series featuring shifters and an instant pre-order for me. It is chock full of suspense, is dark at times, gritty, and super smexy. If you are looking for a new series, I highly recommend picking up book one, Primal Law. It was one of my favorite reads of 2011.

It is no secret that I've loved this series from the very beginning.  There's a certain sensuality I find in the mix of the psychic abilities and the shifters in this series.   Sexy possessive alphas that exude power and deliver on the suspense and action!  And Alpha Nick Westfall is the PERFECT example of everything I’ve loved in the series.  He’s burdened with seeing visions of the future and leading his team.  He’s just re-established his relationship with his long lost, estranged daughter and now he’s ready (sort of) for his happily ever after.

He finds his mate in the most unlikely of places.   Meaning she’s a vampire.  This is the first shifter/vampire mating in this series and I have to say I was 100% sold on the premise.  Especially with the past issues Nick has with vampires in general because of what was done to him.  There’s a big hurdle he has to overcome but it just shows his strength that he can.

Aside from being a strong alpha, Nick showed a very playful and sexy side.  He loves playing with his wolf, and sometimes lets that side of him rule his actions more than the human.  And how sexy is that?  Nick Westfall will steal your heart!

Then there’s Princess Calla.  She is the perfect strong heroine to mate with Nick, and I especially loved how insightful she is.  She knows exactly what Nick needs at what time.  How to handle Nick’s issues and not take things personally.  Their romance developed at a slow and steady pace, that kept me engrossed in the story.  The attraction is instant but never overpowers the bigger picture.  Job very well done Ms. Tyler!  Again!

I can’t recommend this series enough to any shifter lover, or a reader of paranormal romance in general.  When series start to go stale, this is one of the few I keep coming back to because I know what I’m getting and I know I’ll enjoy every bit of it.  Packed with passion, alphas and action!  And I can’t wait for my next taste.

Thoughts: This series a real hit and miss for me. Some books I've loved and other's I've been very meh about. This was one I loved.

Nick and Calla are mates, they both know it and where one is ready to start a relationship the other wants nothing to do with it. Except they can't stay away from each other.

I really enjoyed the struggles this couple went through. Both of them have lost their mates, but where Calla is ready to move on, Nick wants nothing to do with it. Not because he isn't attracted to Calla, but because of what she is.

He can't get past the fact that she's a vampire. He doesn't have anything against vampires, he counts a lot of them as allies. But he's recently been held captive and tortured by one. The very idea of letting her bond with him the way she will need to is abhorrent to him. Calla isn't willing to push him, she's determined to wait for him to come to terms with it, without telling him something really, vitally important.

Calla on the other hand, never expected to find a mate again. She loved her mate and was devastated when she lost him. So the fact she's found one again throws her, but also gives her hope. It doesn't hurt that her brother respects Nick, and counts him as an ally. She understands that Nick might have an issue with her being a vampire, and is willing to give him time, especially as he knows he's her mate. When he rejects the very thing that is essential in all mated vampire pairs, she determines that she won't give up on him, them. She never plans on their enemies using their mating as a way to destroy not just them, but everyone they love.

One of the things I enjoy so much about paranormal romances is that you know the struggle between the hero and heroine is going to be more than the typical relationship struggles you find in contemporary and historical romances. In this case you have a wolf shifter whose mate is a vampire and while he wants her, and has very deep feelings for her, he can't get past what she is.

I'm really liking the world that Tyler has created, and can't wait to see what she does next. There are so many characters in this world I want to see more of.

Be sure to first read Cole's Redemption...Nick's experiences largely carry over into Wolf's Fall.

I was overall disappointed with this book. It should have been the strongest story, since it was the Alpha Pack commander, Nick Westfall's, story. However, I felt that the trauma he suffered was not given the attention it deserved - it was too quickly brushed aside.

I liked Vampire princess, Calla Shaw's, character - her strength and willingness to love a man she knew that she may never be able to claim was amazing.

With four more stories coming soon...I hope that the series can get back to the brilliance I saw in the beginning.

Fantastic!! Loved it!! needs more than 5 stars!!

I have a huge love for shifter novels and the Alpha Pack Series is one of my favorites, it is a very action filled series which involve a lot of characters who grab your attention and don’t let go, even after the story is ended. We met Cole in the first book and knew immediately he would become a wonderful character who has a lot of issues to overcome, guilt, banishment from his clan by his brother, acceptance as leader of the Alpha Team, making tough decisions involving the numerous battles the team has to fight, then his capture and torture by a rogue vampire, now his new bondmate is a vampire, with all of these issues his character has developed into one that is fantastic and whose story was a terrific read. Calla who we met in previous novel is perfect for Nick, she has the right amount of strength needed to understand and help Nick overcome his issues showing him that love between a vampire and a wolf can work. She has gone through a lot of pain in her life and now endures torture when she is captured, which only helps to showcase her strength of character. She maybe a princess, but she, her brother and her clan have not had an easy existence, they have fought for every inch of life they have since being forced to flee to this country. I hope we see more of her brothers, Tarron and Adrian who lives in England. The wonderful side stories involving some of the other characters and the new ones introduced only increased the reading pleasure of this terrific story. I am looking forward to the next and many more future books involving these amazing characters in this wonderful series.

JD Tyler’s Wolf’s Fall continues her Alpha Pack series with the story of Alpha Pack Commander Nick Westfall and Vampire Princess Calla Shaw. Although I would highly recommend reading the rest of the series because they are well-written romance paranormal books she does provide enough of a backstory that you are not lost. Calla and Nick have been attracted to each other since they first met but circumstances have kept them apart until they have to work together to defend an evil force bigger than both of them.

Nick has been a favorite of mine since the beginning, and it was interesting to see him meet his match in the strong-willed Calla. Both have experienced loss in the past which led to their own personal issues they had to work through separately, which makes their coupling more poignant. As always, there was an element of danger and suspense that kept the story moving and provided a good backdrop. The additional suspense is one of the aspects I love about JD Tyler’s series, I have had no complaints thus far, but this book left me unsatisfied. The romance wrapped up in an HEA but the underlying storyline left me hanging and checking my kindle to make sure I didn’t miss something. All in all it was a good book, and I would highly recommend it, but there was just something missing that left me wanting more.

Spoilers if you haven't read previous books, which you should read before you read this one...

Nick Westfall is the leader of the Alpha Pack. He was captured and tortured by a vampire. When freed by his men and their vampire allies, he meets Calla Shaw, who he knows immediately is his mate. The problem is that after his torture, he doesn't want to live anymore and sure as hell doesn't want to be mated to a vampire. When the Alpha Pack and the vampires come under attack by an unknown vampire, Nick must come to terms with his relationship with Calla.

Comments about the book:
1. It felt a little rushed to me. Almost like hurry up we gotta get to the next book.
2. It didn't seem like there was enough internal conflict for Nick before having Calla claim him.
3. Nick never directly told Calla what happened to him at the hands of Carter and how that affected him.

Overall the book was good, but not my favorite.

Nightmares and self-destructive thoughts are pulling Nick, the leader of the Alpha Pack under. He blames himself for every bad thing that has happened to himself and his team lately. Being captured by an evil, crazy vampire who made him do things against his will is tormenting Nick so much that he wants to end it all. Having his daughter back in his life is not enough to pull him out of his funk, but meeting Calla and knowing she is his mate helps his resolve. When another vampire captures Calla, Nick knows he will do anything to get her back even if it risks his life in the process. Almost loosing Calla puts his prospective of being mated to the forefront and pushes away his nightmares.
I really enjoy this series, it has everything I love- vampires, shifters, fae and hot sexy guys. I can't wait for Noah to get his HEA!
