The author of Wolf’s Fall returns with her “hot and to die for”* Alpha Pack—a top-secret band of Navy SEALs with Psy powers and shifter prowess whose dangerous missions sometimes require a more intimate call to duty…

Believed dead by his Pack mates, Micah Chase, a wolf shifter and Dreamwalker, was held captive for months, subject to tortures that left him physically scarred and emotionally unsettled.

Now under the care of the Alpha Pack’s doctors, he’s been prescribed an experimental healing drug, but he still can’t shake the nightmares. Even more damning is that Micah’s problems pose a danger to his team, and if he doesn’t get himself under control, they’ll all suffer a terrible fate.

There is a key to his salvation. Jacee is a beautiful coyote shifter, and though her kind is hated, she’s falling in love with a man whose very future is in her hands. Together they’ll face his personal demons as well as a deadly enemy—and for both of them desire has never come with such risk.

Another great addition to this series!

Micah is battling the demons of his past as best he can, but it isn't always helping. Dealing with memories and physical reminders of the torture he went through he starts to rely on pills to get him through. Then Jacee comes into his life, his mate, his savior. She has her own horrible past that she has dealt with and she helps Micah take control of his demons. But when an enemy from Micah's past starts making threats, Jacee and Micah have a whole different fight ahead.

I am a huge fan of this series and just can't get enough of the Alpha Pack. The brothers of the pack are so loyal to one another and made up their own family and I love that. I have been anticipating Micah's story for what seems like eternity and it was well worth the wait. He was a complicated character and had many different sides to him. It was great to see how sweet he was with Jacee right from the start and then to see how fierce he was in battle. I felt for him and wanted to help him through his struggles.

I honestly wanted to know more about Jacee and her past because I feel like there were pieces left out. But also that may be explained in . But what I did learn about her I liked and she was a good character. Not my favorite female lead from this series, but no big complaints. There were no specific reasons I liked her, she was just a normal - paranormal? - girl.

Bottom line, I really enjoyed this book and for anyone that likes shifter books this series is a must read. J.D Tyler does not disappoint!

Ahhh so many mixed feelings on this one. I love the characters. I love the set up. I even love the fated mates and how heavily that's relied on for the romance side of things. I have issues with some of the little things though. Lack of condoms (or mention that shifters don't need them), a secondary storyline with a straight male who's been given a male mate--not loving that at all, a very cliche run in with the 'bad guy'. While it didn't all ruin the book it definitely makes it more...average. It's not bad pnr and I do enjoy it even with the issues and definitely want to read the next one.

Full review to come

In progress...

Eeeeew come on now. Condoms, people, condoms! Especially with that surprise twist on the hero. Yeah, yeah. I know it's a PNR and "assumed" they can't transfer anything but nope. Does not work this time.

Another great addition to this series. Micah and Jacee feel into their mating very easily, but other things caused the drama in their relationship. Seeing all of the Alpha Pack makes me want to go back and re-read all their HEAs again, especially snarky Aric. Great hints given for at least the next three books. Can't wait!

Summary
Micah Chase was taken, tortured and held against his will for months, which left him with haunting memories and being horribly scarred. As he slowly recovers, he is prescribed a certain drug that is to help with the healing of his body. But soon his body becomes dependent on it, even when it doesn't help that much lately. But when he starts acting out in anger and frustration, his team is determined to help him. But Micah needs to be independent and to do things on his own. He then discovers his bond mate, Jacee and he knows that she is just what he needs, and even though he doesn't want to be a burden to her, his wolf can't resist being close to her. Jacee works at the local bar as a waitress and does what she can to survive. She is the last of her pack who were all killed. She is a coyote shifter, but when she finds her mate she will do anything to protect him. Jacee is the key to saving Micah, but there is a danger on the horizon, a danger Micah and Jacee won't see coming, and only with help from the whole pack will they be able to defeat this new enemy who is out for revenge.
The Hero
Micah Chase joined the military and the special ops division. He loved what he does. His closest ties were to his mother and sister. But then he and his pack are turned into shifter wolves and their lives change forever. But Micah is taken hostage by a mad scientist and experimented upon, tortured and has had mind games played on him and he was forced to do certain things that still haunt him. Micah is trying to make an effort to survive and to heal, but he doesn't feel he is worthy of redeeming for all the things he was forced to do while being held captive. Micah is such a heartbreaking character, and I have always wanted to read his story. This is where we learn more of his side of things and how bad those months held in captivity really were. He is one tough wolf, he has this drive to fight and survive despite all the pain and anger he is dealing with. I loved how his strength really perseveres.
The Heroine
Jacee, is a coyote shifter and was part of a pack. But then while she was away, her pack and her family were murdered and she never knew what happened to them. Jacee works at the local bar and does what she can to survive until she can go back to college and find something she loves. She attends her garden faithfully and loves working with the earth. When Micah comes into the bar and protects her when a customer gets a bit too friendly, she realizes that they are mates. Jacee is a tough chick, and I loved her to pieces. She stands by Micah and supports him and I loved how she fights for them through the good and the bad. What I admired most about Jacee was her inner strength and fighting spirit. She doesn't back down and no matter the obstacle faces it head on.
Plot and Story Line
Chase The Darkness is the seventh book in the series and what a fun ride this series has been so far!! I have really been loving it and Chase The Darkness has been a story I have been waiting for ever since we learned about Micah being alive. It opens up with Micah struggling with dreams he is having, which are really memories. What we see at the beginning of this story, is seeing the memories that are slowly returning to Micah as his healing progresses. But there are problems happening and his healing is taking longer than it should. Micah and Jacee soon meet and form a tight bond almost instantly. Even though they have just realized that they are mates, Micah wants to take it slowly with Jacee. Give her time, even against his wolf's protests, doesn't want to rush what they could have. I really admired that about Micah. He didn't rush right in to claim her, he took time to show her he cared about her as a person and not just as his mate. And boy does he get super protective, especially when it comes to how the team treats Jacee. This was the only draw back to the story that really bothered me, and it shocked me. Because in the past books, you wouldn't see them doing that at all. But basically the team treats Jacee like a slut and in a very bad way too. I couldn't understand it, because quite frankly all of them have slept around ( a lot) its like suddenly they had this "double standard" mind set and that is a big pet peeve of mine. I really had a problem with how judgmental they were through most of the book, but Jacee she handles it in such a diplomatic way. And seeing how she deals with it really got me on her side real quick. Because she doesn't let what they think bother her or affect her relationship with Micah and standing by his side when he needs her the most. Don't you love a woman that stands by her man no matter what? The romance between Micah and Jacee was so well balanced and felt almost harmonized. The transition and the flow were so smooth you could barely notice. It was quite moving to see how deeply they are drawn to each other, and their emotional connection matches the physical one. Even though this book wasn't my favorite installment, it had plenty of what I know J.D. Tyler has given us in the past. A passionate love story, excitement and danger around the corner, and a new villain to fight. And we also have a tiny sub plot between Nix and Noah. And we have been seeing this build over the books, and their book is next so I am super excited because Noah has played such a huge role in helping the team from book one. So yay to finally getting their book in about six months.
The Cover
This might be one of my favorite covers. I love the dark background, with the motorcycle, and even with a shirt on he is one sexy man....love how he just fills out the clothes so well.
Overall View
Chase, The Darkness is a satisfying and intense story that brings you closer to the Alpha Pack Team....full of suspense, mystery, a healing love with a kick of passion...what more do you need!! SOAKED UP EVERY MOMENT!!

This is the third book I've read in this series and this is book seven. That means they can be read out of order.

I'm a big paranormal shifter reader. It's always been a favorite of mine. So when I saw this one come up, I jumped on it. As a matter of fact, I read it between books I had on my schedule the day it arrived!

I really enjoyed this world in Cole's Redemption (book 5) and Wolf's Fall (book 6). I would love to find the time to go back and read the first four books. It's a great world. This pack of shifters (mostly wolfs) are a black ops government group designed to protect the humans from the paranormal un-friendlies out there. AND they each have phy gifts that make things interesting. Plus there are other paranormal creatures thrown into the mix. Anything can happen in this world.

Micah is still recovering from the horror show he was rescued from a few months back. The nightmares are unsettling and difficult but there are even bigger issues with his health. He feels like a broken wolf that can't offer anyone much. He's got scars to his once model looks and is only hanging on to a thread emotionally. But when his wolf scents his true bondmate, he still reacts. She's gorgeous and he can't see what she will see in him. Her coyote doesn't see it that way.

Jacee has lost everything. Being a waitress at the local bar and tending her garden are all she has. She has no pack. She has no family. She hides what she is. And it's lonely. When she reacts to the big wolf, there's no turning back for her. But there are so many issues to work through. It's not an easy journey for these two.

I actually like the whole insta-love thing that happens when it's a shifter scenting their mate. And both of these guys needed the other so much. I'm not sure either would have ever found out just how much if it wasn't for the bond thing.

Oh, and there is this little matter of a shifter that's gone cray cray and is after Micah. That made things interesting. Dude was a total creeper.

I really enjoyed how this story played out. It had a great amount of issues to resolve and they didn't all get done at once. That kept the story flowing nicely. Throw in some of the characters I knew from the last two books and I just read and read.

If you love shifter stories and haven't read any of this one, it's a great one to pick up. You can read them stand alone but I think you'll enjoy them more if you read them in order. If you've followed this series, you'll want more for sure.

The Alpha Pack are a top secret government backed crack team of Wolf shifters. Having been born with psychic powers these former Navy Seals were tricked and ambushed and cruelly turned into Werewolves . Now they fight together to rid the world of it's worst predators and heaven help anyone who strives to hurt the Pack.
This book features Micah who having been rescued from captivity is still dealing with his own inner demons. Scarred having been horribly tortured and addicted to the drug Myst he struggles to maintain a calm facade amongst those who he knows he should trust. Always on edge and struggling with the aftermath of his ordeal he meets Jaycee, a coyote shifter who he recognises as his mate. Her presence calms his mind, her love soothes his soul but Micah's past is haunting more than just his dreams and the shadow of death is getting much closer! The Alpha Packs commander Nick has had a terrifying vision of Micah's death! Can Micah and Jaycee survive or is the future set in stone?
This the seventh book in this paranormal romance series had an almost instant kind of love to it which is not my preferred trope but worked very well here with the overall story arc . I felt it right that Micah's incarceration and the consequences of it should be addressed and it made for a suspense driven action packed ride that pulled no punches. I was a little concerned by the loss of the mating bond but the author swiftly moved the story along. Micah is the stuff of heroes and Jaycee a sweetie but there's a certain vampire prince waiting in the wings whose story I'd like and don't get me started on the end because oh my now I need the next book!

REVIEW:
Another great Alpha Pack novel! Micah is one of those wounded warriors battling the scars both within and without. I like that he was a little different and because of the past torture, he was a little humanized while still being strong. I think Jacee was the perfect choice for him since she’s strong yet passionate and determined. He needed that. Ms. Tyler always manages to give a different spin to each story and this was no exception. I enjoyed the danger brought by their evil villain and even though other things were going on, it didn’t overshadow the hot romance nor the camaraderie of the Alpha Pack. They’re just one of those groups that makes you feel you’re there with them. (If only that were true). There’s a little teaser for the next book and I’m already chomping at the bit to read it. It promises to be another good one.

I always eagerly anticipate each new installment of this series. It doesn't matter who gets his story next though I confess that I did anticipate Nick's story the most. That being said, I love the band of brothers that make up the Alpha Pack and I love how the stories may focus on one of them, but they are all there fighting together in the background.

In this book, we get Micah's story. Micah endured brutal torture from his captors before he was rescued by his pack brothers. He is nearly broken, struggles with nightmare memories, and is now struggling with the addiction to his meds. Everyone worries about him and he hates that. But just when he thinks he is through and has hit the bottom, his mate is revealed to him. He is taken with the strong, independent Jacee and is only sorry that she is stuck with him. He will do whatever it takes to make her happy even beating his addiction and working hard to heal for her.

Jacee works at the local watering hole where the Alpha Pack comes to drink between missions. She knows who and what they are and a few know that she is a coyote shifter. It has been awkward since out of loneliness she slept with one of the members who now has a mate. She knows the Alpha Pack see her as a slut and she didn't care until the night one of the reclusive members joins them for a drink and Micah Chase intervenes when a drunk bar patron gives her a hard time. The kind male is her destined mate. His scared visage and dark past do not put her off. She is so happy to realize that she no longer has to be alone.

In the shadows, a figure from Micah's past watches for his chance to obtain vengeance. Nick's visions provide him with this knowledge, but it is up to Micah to avoid the death that Nick foresees for him.

Alright, so this one had all the makings of a strong blend of the character-driven and the action plot between Micah's need to heal and take care of the dangerous enemy. And it did that to a certain extent. I was into this one right up to the point where it lost it's momentum. The story finished out, but it wasn't as tight and crisp as it potentially could have been. I felt that it went down certain intriguing paths just so far and then stopped.

I don't want to give spoilers so I'll pick one thing as an example. Micah has this gift to dreamwalk. It is never really explained or utilized to its full potential. For instance, he dreamwalks into Jacee's dreams for some erotic night time fun, but he doesn't dream walk into anyone else's dream. I mean if he can do this why doesn't he dreamwalk into the killer's dreams or into the guy's dreams he suspects knows more than he says. Now maybe he has to have some sort of connection to the person, but there is no explanation to his gift to say for sure.

And that is just one of the things that left me wanting more. A lot is made of certain aspects of the story and not others. The suspense could have been stronger. The reader knows who the enemy is and why long before the characters and I'm not sure I liked that reveal so early on because it killed the tension in the story to a certain extent. Even the romance left me feeling this way. Jacee kept a secret, but Micah finds out from someone other than her, but Micah and Jacee never discuss it.

Now, it wasn't a total wash out. I don't want to give the impression that I hated the book because that isn't true. I actually liked it. Yes, parts disappointed me, but other parts were really good. I loved seeing Micah find his mate and that he began to heal and grow light-hearted with her. He had such a hard time feeling like he belonged, but as he healed, he learned just how important the pack, their mates, and his own mate made him feel like he had a big, supportive family. Micah's personal story of triumph was probably my favorite part.

And speaking of that family, I enjoyed the strong presence of other pack members around the headquarters and out on the missions. I know he isn't pack, but I love Blue sightings and I really like that hint of something going on for Calla's brother and a certain gal. And really, I am so ready for Nix to get his act together and stop dinking around since he knows who his mate is. Odd set up there and I want to know the reason for that one.

In summary, I liked, but didn't love this one because I saw potential for a much stronger story. I definitely still feel strongly vested in this series that offers a camaraderie of brothers, interesting plots, and intriguing worldbuilding. I would recommend this series be read in order and I would recommend it for paranormal romance lovers who like spice in the romance and intense action in the plot.

My thanks to Penguin Group for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

My review and an extended sample of the audiobook are posted at Hotlistens.com.

I’ve been eagerly awaiting Micah’s book ever since he was rescued from the enemy a few books back (I can’t remember which one). I love a story of a character who has had an extremely hard life and learns to overcome it to have a happy-ever-after. I do want that happy ending to come from only from the significant other. I want to see the character find something else to see that life is worth living.

Jacee is a bartender at the closest bar to the Alpha pack compound. She knows how to work the crowd at her bar to get the best tips while doing her best to keep the worst of the drunks off of her. Add that to the fact that she has a history with Alpha pack member, Jax, and she isn’t well liked by members of the Alpha pack. She has always thought Micah seemed like a nice guy when he did appear at the bar, but it isn’t until he comes to her rescue that they get close enough to learn that they’re mates.

Both of these characters aren’t without their character flaws. At times, it seems like it will be more than they can overcome. Some of these issues are so common, it was almost cliche. For example, Micah was on a new drug to help him recover from his trauma of his imprisonment. When they learn that it is causing some bad side effects, the doctor wants him to wean him off the drugs. He keeps a bottle, “just in case”, he wasn’t actually taking them, and he wasn’t. But, Jacee finds the bottle and there is a huge explosion between the two.

There are some things that I didn’t like about this book. There is some slut shaming. The pack really treats Jacee pretty bad at the beginning, which was completely unfair. It wasn’t just the guys, but some of the women as well. There is foreshadowing another couple between a gay man and a straight man. I just don’t think this is necessary.
As with many of the books in this series in the past, I’m not overwhelmed with the plot or even the romance of these two characters. I find that it is the each of the characters as whole that I love, both main characters of each book and the secondary characters of the series that keep me coming back.

Narration
Marguerite Gavin does a great job with the narration of this book. She is a narrator that I’ve enjoyed since I’ve listened to her do the first book. I know she is still somewhat new to this series (this is her second book), but since she is a favorite narrator of mine, I can’t complain with the change. I love her male and female voices. I love her pacing and tone. There is nothing bad to say about her narration.

I like to thanks Tantor Media for providing me with a copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

We are back in the Alpha Pack world and this is now Micah's turn. Micah was captured and tortured. Since he came back to the pack, he's been struggling. Even sometimes wanting to end it all. He's become addicted to pills to numb the memories of what he was forced to do, and what was done to him. And in the midst of all that, he finds his mate.

Jacee is a coyote shifter and she's also a bartender at the local pub, who once had a fling with Jax. The connection between Jacee and Micah is instant and without much fight from either one of them. I really liked that. It was just what I wanted to see for Micah because he's already dealing with a lot of his own problems to add to that a mating that isn't welcomed.

Jacee is pretty kickass and fiercely loyal and protective of her mate. As is Micah. Of course, together they must face not only the monsters of his addiction but the monsters of his past coming to find revenge. Nick's visions once again try to bring them to safety, but Micah isn't out of the woods just yet.

This book had just the right combination of action, romance and pack. The Alpha Pack is one of my go to shifter series and I can't recommend it enough. If you like your shifters and romantic suspense to come together, then look no further than these guys. J.D. Tyler kicks ass at them.

For the most part this was a good story and a good narration by Margurite Gavin. (audible review)

I liked most of this story. I liked Michah for the most part, but sometimes he just didn't seem like an ALPHA type. And he was sick way too much for my taste. I like my hero's be be strong, a bit arrogant and a little cocky, not too much just enough that they seem to be a true alpha or hero type character. This guy had a LOT of issues.

Jacee the heroine was okay. Not much depth or character development. I didn't hate her and she didn't have an TSTL moments so that was good.

The chemistry and attraction between these two was just so automatic it was hard to care if they were together or not. They were bond mates. Yep there you have it.

There was a lot of dialogue throughout the entire book so that was great.
The story line and plot was lacking too. Not much of description of what this guy when through during his kidnapping, etc.. Just kind of okay he went through some shit that was bad.

This is the 7th book in the series and I have not read any of the previous books. I might give the first one a shot
to see if I will like the beginning of the series. Of course I missed a lot of the secondary characters since I didn't read the previous books. That is on me and not part of my review, except that I think it might be a good series and maybe this book was just lacking a bit.

As for the narration, I do like Margurite Gavin. She is a good narrator. I don't have any complaints there. The men sound like men, everyone gets their own distinct voice. I will tell the previous books are narrated by Kirsten Potter so any narrator that comes in during a book series to narrate follow her is going to have a problem. Kirsten Potter is a hard act to follow.

When I realized that this book was centered around Micah I found myself intrigued. Micah is the member of the group that missing and found so damage. I wanted him to get his HEA.

I was a bit surprised that JC ended up his mate, not because I didn't like her, but due to her previous involvement with a different member of the group. It definitely caused some friction, but I was glad that they were all able to get past it. JC was great for Micah as she gave him the support that he needed and he gave her the home she needed.

The whole who was stalking Micah was a bit boring to me, a little to predictable. What I did really enjoy reading about were the quiet moments between Micah and Noah. Yes I know Noah is hurting because Nix won't claim him, but Micah helped Noah understand part of the reason why and I think gave him hope to be patient.

With a couple surprises at the end I look forward to reading more in the series.

Chase the Darkness (Alpha Pack #7) by J.D. Tyler

My Review:
Because who doesn't mind some juicy love? (haha)
In all seriousness the whole three way mate thing was a little disjointed and since we already have enough between the drama, the meds, the questionable relationships among other things the added who's who in the bedroom became a slight distraction from the h/h relationship. There's also the confusing mention of the dream ability that wasn't given any particular rhyme or reason or explanation. The funny thing is everyone seems to be confused about how they feel about one another when it comes to their intimate relationship (or so it comes across) so it was difficult for me to invest in the couples as the HEA types despite how happy they said they were. Still it was a decent story and had plenty of random strings to leave openings for other books to step in and fill in the blanks.

This is one book beside ravens that I've been looking forward to from the start of the series and finding Micha. His struggle to overcome everything was amazing and I was so glad that he finally got the love he deserved. This book will make you feel a range of emotions and take you for a wild ride.

Oh Micha, it wasn't enough that he had to go through everything that he went through when he was held captive (yes I'm being vague) but then to continue having to fight and struggle afterwords was horrible for him through this book we watch him overcome those struggles and come out on the light side. He was broken and just needed his mate to help put him back together.

Jacee, was...... I wasn't sure how I would take her being the mate to somebody because of how she was and one of the other books and how she had been with Jax. Despite all that I felt she was a good match for Micha, and helped him really come out of the darkness. She was not a much loved shifter, but by the end she was part of the pack.

We know early on what the characters will be up against, and I felt that helped with the flow of this story. It was action packed, just like how the rest of this series is, and that's a huge draw in for me. The enemies are defeated and these characters get there happy ending which was a pain to get there but they did it with style.

Overall it was a good read, not my favorite, but it wasn't horrible. I am excited to see what's to come. I truly want Ravens book, like ASAP, because he deserves to be happy. The alpha pack is amazing and I love them so much as a collective whole. 4stars #2OCCJD

NUMBER OF HEARTS: 3 3/4
Chase the Darkness is Micah’s story. We had learned of Micah at the beginning of the series. But he was captured and the Alpha Pack had thought he was dead. But after being rescued Micah could not remember the depth of the pain and horrors he went throught. But as time went by more and more memories came out. Micah has so many demons in this book. But it was good to see him work through them. Thankfully Micah has found his mate.
Jacee has always known what the Alpha Pack was, well not exactly, but she knew they were shifters. What she didn’t know was that her mate has been there waiting for her. So when Micah walks into her bar reality hits her like a ton of bricks. But the question is will she be strong enough to be his mate?
Chase the Darkness was another good story in the Alpha Pack series. I really enjoyed watching Micah become himself again. I liked getting to know Jacee better. And as always it was great to see all the Alpha Pack shifters. Chase the Darkness was good, but a little slow for me at times. But I enjoyed it. And the ending. Can’t wait to see what is in store next.

Chase the Darkness, the latest installment in JD Tyler’s Alpha Pack Series features wolf shifter Micah and coyote shifter Jacee. Micah was introduced in a previous book in the series, and he has always been a sympathetic hero, having been held captive and tortured for several months. Although some of the information about Micah is in the previous books you should be able to read this book without having read the rest of the series with no problems, but reading the other books would be beneficial in addition to the fact it’s a good paranormal series.

This is probably one of my favorite books of the series. To watch Micah’s struggles was heartbreaking, but it showed a depth that I truly appreciated. Jacee was a good compliment to Micah, able to balance out some of the demons he continued to fight from his earlier captivity. As usual there was plenty of suspense and the continuation of their work at the compound as well as other information about the underlying subplot that’s been present in the other books.

Physically scarred ad emotionally unsettled, Micah Chase is becoming a danger to his team and his only salvation is a beautiful coyote shifter but there’s a deadly enemy out there waiting to destroy him anyway he can in this spellbinding paranormal romance. Once again, the Alpha Pack brings excitement and enjoyment to my life and I have to say that Micah and Jacee has completely stolen my heart and let me just say that the story is not all doom and gloom because there are quite a few happy scenes and chuckles among friends and Micah gives Jacee a wonderful surprise. I am so looking forward to reading the next story as it is Nix and Noah’s story and I have to say that it’s about time.

I totally loved this book! My heart went out to Micah and all his struggles. I could completely relate to him. I thought Jacee was brilliant and was perfect match for Micah.

I love how much the dynamics of the series have changed and evolved into this vibrant and dangerously exciting world of otherworldly creatures. It’s amazing and always a joy to read the books!

I thoroughly enjoyed the story. It was exciting and heart wrenching and I loved it! The book ends with the arrival of a mysterious visitor and I’m DYING to know who it is and who’s on deck for the next full length book!

Ah Alpha Pack how I must say you are my guilty pleasure. I read this book in 1 days because I left my Kindle at work (I almost cried when I found that out) so I picked this book up because I finished book 6. This was an okay book but I finished it in 1 day (24 hours) and it was enjoyable. The only part I had a problem with was the ending. Whenever he faced the bad guy they fought and in one page and then the ending happened and they were all okay. And here I am sitting going whoa let's slow down you could have made this a 300 page book if the ending was fleshed out a little more.

I don't really know if this book deserves the full five starts, as on page two I was screaming about a very obvious mistake, but I read it in one sitting and was left feeling happy and smiling, so it did the job for me. This is a series that I will be with until the end.

Another great read in the series. Nothing spectacular happened in the story, it was simply another addition to the already good series.

At 28% I wasn’t crazy about this book. I mean, I was already tired of Micah popping pills every time he turned around. So far I’ve loved the other 6 books but I thought this was going to be a bummer. I could see that bondmate thing wasn’t between Micah and Jaycee wasn’t going to be easy. OK, I was wrong. It turned out to be a pretty good read. Loved Micah and Jacee, and it’s been a while since I’d read the last book that I thought I’d forgotten all the players. I was wrong about that too. I remembered Sariel as soon as his name was mentioned. He was my favorite character in every book, the magical blue Fae. He was awesome.

I have to tell you, though, that Micah had a couple of near death experiences. The first was such a huge surprise I had to read the sentence twice. The second was when a huge eagle shifter nearly tore him apart, before his pack saved him. I will tell you the silliest thing in this book was when Micah was told they had to take out his spleen and his appendix and made it sound so serious that they had to remove his appendix. Really? I think all an appendix is for is to have it rupture and nearly kill you. I think it was just silly, that’s all. And speaking of silly. This is book 7 of 7. BUT there is a 7.5 and at the end of this book the last page was about a wolf dragging himself to the front of the packs headquarters and it ended. That’s an opening for another book but this book was published August 2015. Almost 2 years and still no book about the dying wolf Ari?

There was explicit sex in this book and the F-bomb was used about 90 times.

As to the narration: I have no idea why Kirsten Potter didn’t narrate books 6 and 7 and 7.5. After all those books Marguerite Gavin was just drab in her narration.

Chase the Darkness

This is the story of Micah and Jacee. Micah is damaged. Damaged from being captured and tortured to within an inch of his life. Then miracle of miracles he’s rescued by the Alpha Pack his old group. His physical condition is very bad and his mental condition is worse. He had been forced to hurt others to try and save some. He had been raped and abused by the guards. Right when he thinks he might be better off dead, he meets his mate at the local bar. Jacee is a coyote shifter. When she meets Micah they both realize they’ve met their mate. There is a LOT of action in the story. I recommend the story but suggest reading from the beginning. There are sexual scenes that may offend some readers.

The broken solider Micah will have more tough times ahead before he can have his Happyness with his new mate Jaycee. She is a tough cookie in her own right, orphan at 13 believing that all her family was dead so she survived after high school. People saw her differently as her ex 's£ut, a fellow pack brother, but she won't let that define her. She have felt connection to Micah since she started working in the Grizzly bear when she first saw him. He so broken with scars inside and out and thinking he is not the right man to have the perfect Jaycee in his arms, will he become better for her or will he revert into his old habits.

I have finally finished all of the Alpha Pack books now but Chase The Darkness ended with the promise of another book or two. They were okay. The story was believable but the sex scenes got a bit wearing after a while. I mean how many times can I hear the word shaft without rolling my eyes. How many people actually use the term shaft for that particular appendage. Anyway ... done and dusted and I'll treat myself to a different book or series.

Micah has been through hell, tortured and raped after his rescue he became addicted to the drug that was helping him deal with his trauma and he discovers Jaycee is his mate. He courts her and works to avoid Nick's dire predictions of his future if he doesn't break his addiction. Had sweet moments, nice to see previous characters.
