The story of an Anglican minister who saw his church experience amazing growth and developed a huge- especially student oriented evangelistic ministry of his own. This is very helpful in exploring the organic progress of this growth with all the attendant difficulties along the way. Of course this was also the heigh day of the charismatic renewal and outside of such a move of God how much of this would be relevant for everyday church life?

Nevertheless Watson makes many salient observations - about the parrallelism of suffering and annointing, about the nature leadership v conflict, about failure as well as success, about family v ministry.

I really wasn't impressed by Watson's 'Discipleship' but now in this I see more clearly why he raged against the Logos v Rhema aspect of spirituality - because it was used as a theological weapon in the leadership crisis which caused much hurt and a split in his booming church.
