Freakn' Cougar

Rate this book
Forget taming their cougar. These young studs want her as is, even if she scratches.

Someone's killing shifters in prison, and Patricia needs help catching the culprit. The cougar enlists the help of Stu and Ricky, a techno geek and a reformed criminal, a mismatched pair, who turn out to also be her mates. But Patricia's already loved and lost one man. Does she dare allow herself to care again?

Older isn't just wiser, it's sexier, or at least that's what a socially challenged wolf and a bad boy panther think. Forced to work together to catch a killer, Stu and Ricky soon find out they'll have to learn to do more than tolerate each other when they realize a hot, almost forty cougar is their mate. Can they find a way to work together and make their cougar purr?

Stu Grayson has tortured the others in his lupine family who have found their mates and had to share in menage relationships. No worries for him though as Stu lives at home and his 'dates' consist of playing World Of Warcraft with his friends.

What is they say? oh ya. Karma's a b*tch when Patricia Delicia, female police officer who happens to be a shape shifter herself, shows up to arrest Stu during the wkly family Sunday dinner and he discovers that she's his mate. Stu can handle that until he's put into the prison system and made to share a cell with tatted Latino badass Ricardo who could have been on a poster child on America's Most Wanted. "Hey puta. Come to padre" puts Stu on red alert not to bend over and remember to sleep fully clothed. Worse yet. Ricky says that Patricia is HIS mate and he doesn't plan to give her up to any computer hacker geek.

It's a battle of brains versus muscle for a cougar who doesn't want to be claimed. Who is only tolerating them because she's on assignment to catch a serial killer who is targeting shifters. Once the killer is found she plans to walk away despite the intense attraction she has for both Stu and Ricky.

This is an older woman/younger men premise (get it... freakin' cougar) that continues to pair off the Grayson family in menage relationships. While this was an enjoyable action adventure suspense read I wasn't able to appreciate it to the degree I have other installments in this series. Best character was Ricky hands down. I do think that BECAUSE he wasn't developed enough as a character it lead to part of my unhappiness over this book. His character has such potential that wasn't utilized. sigh The other slant that I had issues was with had to be with Patricia and the reason/rationale she didn't want to mate with either of the guys.

This can definitely be read as a stand alone installment. The cameo references to previous main characters won't affect your appreciation of this read if that is a concern. The menage action is m-f-m and has quite the heat to the scenes. Overall, I appreciated this read and look forward to Derrick's story which was teased at.

Favorite Lines “Caring for someone means hurting if you lose them.”

“First off, his ass was not fat. Secondly, playing a role or not, touching of said ass was going a tad too far.”

“Then fate is an even crueler bitch than I gave her credit for.”

“The bafflement on his face when she managed to get him to wear the hand-knitted wool sweater—blue and green with a big majestic moose on the chest—was priceless.”

MEOW..... I WANT TO BE A COUGAR so I can have a panther AND a wolf! Patricia, Ricky, and Stu are the perfect couple! I loved this book! This is my first time reading this author and I am kicking myself for not reading her earlier! Langlais spins her stories in such a way that you don't feel the romance is forced or that the mating is fake! Quite a few stories have a hard time making that part of it believable but, Langlais doesn't have that problem at all! This threesome wil last long and be filled with love and purposely fighting! (Just so they can make up) I can't wait to jump into more of her books.
Her writing was creative and spinner you in her world easily! The men oh my the men! Yummy! They even had me laughing so hard I cried! Which is hard to do for me with a book but Langlais did it effortlessly!
I would recommended this to any and all shifter and romance lovers!

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review (FabFour)

Ahhh Langlais and her crazy shifery goodness. The woman is just brilliant and always puts together a fun read that's unexpected and entertaining as hell. They're always a bit quirky, funny and just flat out sexy. And Freakn' Cougar--an older shifter heroine and her two younger shifter heroes definitely entertained as they set out to hunt down a serial killer praying on incarcerated shifters. And, maybe, get a little nekkid fun time squeezed in along the way too.

The quick of it is that Stu and Ricky have been snagged by Patricia and her bosses to go undercover into the prison system as bait for a serial killer that's murdering shifters that have been locked up. And Patricia will be on watch as one of the guards. Of course nothing is quite that simple or goes as planned...

I really enjoyed all three of the characters and that they were each so unique but managed to somehow...work as a trio. Patricia's a tough law enforcement agent that's still dealing with the loss of her mate and not interested in looking for love again even if the fates seem to be granting her another chance to find happiness. With not one but TWO mates this time around in the form of Stu-- a goofy, awkward, slacker who hacks computers and plays video games and turns into one sexy pup and Ricky-- and a former bad boy who still looks the part, is a total alpha cat and gonna claim his woman no ifs, ands or buts. Lord help her. These two aren't smooth but damn they're determined. lol
"I get it. You find me attractive, and you want to bang me. Sexual compatibility is not something to base a whole future on."

"And, yet, isn't that how most relationships start? First, you notice the exterior package, and your brain sends a message along the lines of 'Hey, this broad is hot.' Then your eyes meet, and there's a little spark, a shared moment where you're like, 'I want to get to know this gal.' Next thing you know, you're talking and making out."

"Or slapping the forward jerk and stomping away."

He grinned.

There were so many funny scenes between the guys that had me chuckling. They both want Patricia something fierce, are different species and forced to live in a cell together for weeks--with Stu playing the part of Ricky's jail house bitch and the two *hangs head* I mean. They were just a trip as they head off. I loved watching the three try and deal with what the fates had handed them when none were looking for or really interested in being part of a menage.

Since the majority of the story takes place in prison you'd think that would cut down on the smexy times. But. Yeah. There's some creative and determined shifters working here. It's not too hot and heavy but they definitely rack up a little skin time during their investigation and it's a real good time.

Overall Freakn' Cougar was an entertaining shifter menage. Great characters, a pretty neat setting and set up, a little mystery on the whodunits involving the serial killer, smexy times and even though there are some more serious moments as they deal with their fated menage and Patricia deals with moving on from her lost mate there's a lot of humor that keeps the story light and fun as well. It's a good time and definitely has me wanting to check out the earlier books in the series.

* I recommend reading the previous books to fully understand the family dynamics.

Even though Stu doesn't know what he has done now, when sexy cougar-shifter Patricia leads him out of his house in handcuffs, but he does know one hell of an adventure is up. Because Patricia is his mate, according to his wolf. However, when investigating a string of mysterious shifter murders, Stu pairs up with ex-con Ricky and it turns out Patricia is his mate too. Trying to prevent another senseless murder, while wooing their gorgeous mate, Ricky and Stu have their work cut out for them.

Actually, this entry in the series was pretty fun. The differences between the guys were pretty obvious, but they worked really well together and at least in this entry their personalities went a bit deeper than just the surface in this entry. Also the romance was a bit more enjoyable and there was also a bit of an investigative angle which was also quite a bit of fun. Definitely one of the stronger books in the series and I happy with that after the previous two disasters. Only one more book to go, I cannot wait.

Patricia has loved and lost. She was living in the past. There is someone killing shifters in prison. Ricky and Stu are recruited to help Patricia suss out the killer.
I really liked Stu's Beta to Ricky's Alpha. I thought that they balanced each other out well. I enjoyed to humor. I would have liked the mystery aspect to have been a little more. It's glossed over. More meat (no pun intended) to that story would have made this better. However, this is still a good story with likable characters.
And this: I don't think someone "almost forty" is that old.

Freakn' Cougar is a nice addition to the series. I always look forward to reading Ms.Langlais books. They are stories that are enjoyable, sexy and don’t take themselves too seriously. They are fun and entertaining. They always bring a smile to my face.
We have someone killing shifters in prison, and Patricia needs help catching the culprit. The cougar enlists the help of Stu and Ricky, a techno geek and a reformed criminal, a mismatched pair, who turn out to also be her mates.
Stu and Ricky need to work together to help catch the killer and to get their cougar. And boy do they really work well together. I am glad that Patricia got a second chance at love with two younger studs.

And wow the ending with Stus' brother, Derrick, here is a snip to wet your appetite.

Hello darling, he drawled " how nice of the military to send me a snack. I've been ever so hungry for a woman." He snapped his teeth at her and rumbled a low, menacing sound.
She didn't recoil though from his threat. Instead, she leaned forward and with a rolled-up folder smacked him on the nose. In a no-nonsense tone she said," Bad Wolf. Behave yourself right now, or there will be no treats for you!"
Say What!
And that says how awesome the next one will be.
If you haven't read this series give it a try, you will not be disappointed.

Freakn' Cougar is another of Eve Langlais' goodies! It's fun, exciting, unpredictable and entertaining to the very end. Definitely a story all Eve fans and many fans of the genre will enjoy their time spent with :)

Stu is your everyday, run of the mill geek who is also a shifter. He's not very...experienced in the ladies department. He actually has a very hard time with saying or doing anything right in the presence of a good looking female. That's until he meets Patricia...

Patricia is all about work. She lost her one true mate some time back and has not allowed herself to find another. Now, she's all business. No ifs, ands or buts about it. Well that's mostly. Meeting Stu and Ricky changes many things for her. Many she's not willing to explore. Or is she?

Ricky is a bad boy made good. He's turned over a new leaf and plans to keep it that way. He has no room for nonsense in his life. Even more so when he meets Stu and Patricia. Finding out Patricia is not only his mate but also Stu's. Just does not cut it for him. Unacceptable is what it is, nuff said!

I've read all but one of the Freakn' Shifter series and enjoyed each and every single one. I look forward to what the author will bring us next!

I really liked the idea of the older woman...and two male shifters. Ms. Langlais has a knack of writing some serious stuff offset with some great belly laughs. Freakn' Cougar carries on that kind of fun.

Stu has tortured his family when mates have been found and now it's his turn, well, if he can convince Patricia that she does belong with him. Of course, Ricky seems to think she's HIS. Let the fun begin!

There's some mystery here as the three search for a shifter killer in the prison system. Some tense moments, some laughs...and lots of heat. Just what one reads an Eve Langlais book for!

While characters from the previous books are mentioned, these can be read as standalone stories. But you'll probably want to go back and read the other five!

The teaser at the end for the Derrick's book made me worry...and then laugh. I need it now!

This one I felt was a bit nice but kinda fast.

- I loved how the hero's were pretending to be lovers it was hilarious as hell XD

- I loved how the heroine was with both or either of them XD

- When I read the name of the book and saw the cover I wasn't interested much since I don't like much a coupling with an older woman but this book gave cougar a different meaning well a literal meaning really XD

- I liked how the nerdy hero was around the heroine and the other hero he wasn't timid or have low self esteem he was confident and cool

Overall, *thumbs up*

Patricia can´t believe her inner cougar when she claims that she´s in the presence of not one, but two mates! Both young, one cougar and the other a wolf, and both supposed to help her in an undercover mission to frame a shifter serial killer.
Smutty fluff, shifters and action in a great combo, love this series!

Once again another great crazy read from Ms Langlais.
Techno geek Stu has taken the mickey out of his family that have ménage relationships. Not happening to him, uh huh, no way.
A bit of a mystery, lots of humour and two hot guys who had me laughing out loud at their antics in prison.
I really enjoyed these three characters, they were each so different but managed to make things work as a ménage.
Patricia is an older woman, a tough law enforcement agent that's still dealing with the loss of her mate. She is not interested in finding love again no matter what the fates say. Only thing is, you cannot annoy the fates or outrun them. To make up for her stubbornness the fates have given her two mates this time around, in the form of a goofy nerd who does nothing but play games and hacks computers for fun.
Then we have Ricky, one hot as hell alpha cat shifter and former bad boy with tattoos and muscles galore.
I loved the antics and smack talk these two males got up too and even though they were anything but smooth talkers, or actors, they worked well together, especially when trouble went after their woman.

Bien.

3.5 stars.

Funny but I don't like how it was a quick epiphany and she was cool with mating them. I would have preferred she grew to like them and that's what changed her mind, but in he end she left them and saw a picture of her dead Mate and moved on from that. Which I understand it, I would have just liked her to have it be from feelings growing more and more, maybe if it was longer it could have happened, but yeah.

Very happy reader!

I enjoyed this book. It is well written and preformed. These characters we some of my favorite, they worked so well together and are very good fit. This storyline was one of the most unique of this series. The storyline was nicely paced. I loved the audio option.

3.5 stars, would have been 4 but I did not connect to the h. She seemed hard and miserable. I did like the Hs, they were so different to each other. I would have loved to see an unexpected attraction between them once they romanced the h, but it was still good. The mystery was intriguing just a little drawn out, without much action. Overall a good read.

3.5-4 stars

This was a pretty good story. I liked Stu, Ricky and Patricia and their story was enjoyable.

Patricia is a cougar shifter. She was mated years ago but lost her mate, now just living her life as best she can, never expecting to find someone else to share her life. Patricia works for the shifter authorities and when they find out that someone has been killing shifters that are in prison. Patricia is put in charge of an undercover operation at a prison that hasn't been hit yet, hoping to catch the murderer.

Stu is a wolf shifter is kind of on the geeky side. He works as a computer programmer and spends much of his time playing World of Warcraft and hacking into things he shouldn't. He deals with his large family but has no intention of looking for his mate. Stu is rather surprised when she ends up walking through his front door asking for him by name.

Ricky is a panther shifter. He grew up poor and started stealing to get what he wanted. Later he realized that he wasn't setting a good example for his brother and cleaned his act up. Ricky went back to school and started working with kids to keep them out of gangs. Unfortunately, Ricky's brother didn't learn the error of his way until he had already ended up in prison where he was killed by the murderer. Ricky was given the opportunity to work with Patricia in order to help stop the person who murdered his brother.

Stu is at home having a family dinner (with the whole family which includes most of the people from the previous books in the series) when Patricia comes by. Stu had never met her before but Patricia had some dealings with Jiao (From Already Freakn' Mated) and is familiar with most of the family. Stu's rather shocked when he realizes that Patricia is his mate and very disappointed that she doesn't even seem to notice the mating fever. Stu is even more shocked when she says she's there to arrest Stu. It soon comes out that Patricia isn't really arresting Stu but wants him to go undercover in prison to try to find the murderer and use some of his computer skills while he's at it. She also tells him about Ricky and that Ricky is already in and will be his roommate. Stu isn't sure about the situation but agrees.

Patricia isn't happy to find that she's sensing Stu is her mate. She lost her first mate and thought that she couldn't have another mate. When she felt the mating fever, Patricia felt guilty, like she was betraying her first mate if she showed any interest in Stu. Patricia didn't meet Ricky before he was sent undercover so when she goes undercover at the prison as a guard and goes to check on Stu, she's shocked to feel the mating fever with Ricky as well. Even more freaked, Patricia denies them both and tries to concentrate on work (not that she's able to ignore her feelings). Ricky is happy to find his mate but is less happy when he finds out that Stu also believes that Patricia is his mate. Ricky and Stu have a rough start, not liking the thought of sharing Patricia (Ricky more than Stu) and trying to learn to deal with each other. As time progresses, Patricia has a harder time trying to deny what she needs and Ricky and Stu start to break past her walls. The trio manages to take care of the bad guy but it does take them a bit more effort to work things out between themselves. They do manage through the tough part though and end the story with a nice HEA.

This was a pretty good story. I liked Patricia, Stu and Ricky and liked seeing them work things out. Their story wasn't perfect (I still don't get why Stu was chosen to go undercover in the first place...) but it was still a fun and enjoyable. I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series. I'd recommend this story. :D

Ok, so yes our heroine is a cougar - as in she turns into one - but I never really pictured as a cougar in the older woman type of way. She just didn't seem that much older than the guys, unless someone was specifically mentioning it (which was kind of awkward). The image on the cover also makes her look much older than she is in the book.

The awkward reminders of the age difference aside, this was a pretty exciting story. A mismatched group of shifters sent undercover to a prison to try and catch a killer. There are lots of opportunities for craziness, and Eve Langlais takes advantage of most of them. I wish she had left a few out, it got to be a tad overdone at times, especially when paired with three over the top personalities.

The bad guy was great. Super creepy and I was surprised when I found out who it was - so kudos to Eve Langlais because I usually figure a good chunk of it out before I'm supposed to. This was a fun trip back to the Freakn' Shifters series, but I feel like some of the characters are starting to be copies of each other. I'll keep with it though because they are hilarious and hope it goes back to the inventive beginning that first drew me in.

I admit it – I was a latecomer to the awesomesauce that is a story by Eve Langlais. Freakn’ Cougar is the first of her Freakn’ Shifters series that I have read, but it won’t be the last. But, I am quickly catching up to all the fun contained in the pages.

Someone is responsible for killing shifters: not the truly bad ones that have gone rogue and were not dealt with via the council, but ordinary criminals. Found dead in their cells, with little to no evidence. While the police and the shifter council both suspect an inside job, they also want to catch the perpetrator while keeping their own kind safe.

Patricia was wonderfully drawn and developed: still reeling from the loss of her mate, she is throwing herself into her work. Unfortunately, for her, the encounter with Stu’s family throws her carefully laid plans in ruins: she can’t believe that her senses are telling her he is a possible mate, and the boisterous behavior of his family and his mother’s quiet determination are daunting. When she encounters Ricky and has a similar reaction to him, she is convinced that her body has betrayed her, and does all that she can to deny the attraction.

Stu is adorably inept in his flirting, but so thoughtful and quiet in his confidence and determination to give Patricia the choice in her future. His logical thought process combined with his technological knowledge and sneakiness earned from years as the younger brother determined to ‘get even’ make him a quiet hero figure, and his unkempt wolf and the puppyish exuberance make him an instant favorite.

For his part, Ricky is dark and dangerous, like the panther that is his other self. With a brashness honed by a rough life that wasn’t always on the straight and narrow, his interest is wholly personal: his brother was killed by this shifter murderer and he wants revenge. Years ago, prison might have been the proper setting for Ricky, but he’s done much to redeem his ill-spent youth, and he was hoping to help his brother do the same.

These three have several interesting interactions: Stu baiting Ricky much like he would his older brothers, Ricky trying to scare Stu, Patricia’s alternating between submission and avoidance to the men’s reactions. Stu helps Ricky to think before he allows his animal to take, and Ricky helps Stu learn the advantages of brawn over brain. Together, they present Patricia with an unusual, yet not unheard of challenge: two men, both fated as her mate. None of them could envision the connection that binds them together, even if it isn’t always a smooth journey.

Written with Langlais’ clear sense of humor and fun: these are stories that are enjoyable, sexy and don’t take themselves too seriously. This is fun people – and everyone, from the author to the characters wants you to join in and enjoy it as well. Yes, there are moments where the danger and action take over: but there is always a lightness and a freedom in the writing and characters that keeps you grinning, even when it may not be quite “appropriate”. I have yet to read a book from Langlais that didn’t encourage me to read more….

I received an eArc copy from the author for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.

I have to say that unlike the other book in the series the cover put me off a bit, yes I get that she was a cougar, in both shifter and age sense but, having now read the book cannot help but feel it does not, for me anyway, resemble the female lead contained within the pages. Yes she is older but in the book she is described as being late 30’s being able to pass for an easy mid 30’s.

Anyway, now we have my issues with the cover out the way to the story itself. I’m not sure why but I just could not warm up to Patricia, who we had already met briefly in Already Freakn’ Mated, or to Stu, one of the many brothers of Naomi from book 1. Ricky however I loved. Bad boy reformed, dirty mouth, tats, shifter… you get the idea!

There is someone going into prisons killing the shifter inmates and covering it to look like suicide. This is where Ricky and Stu come in. Ricky for his brawn and criminal past and Stu for his computer hacking skills, and mildly criminal past, are placed into one of the prisons yet to be targeted to try and figure out who is killing the shifters and, with the help of Patricia, also undercover but as a guard, capture them.

Only problem is that they are mates, all of them. Coupled with Patricia having closed off her heart due to the death of her mate years previously, fate couldn’t have been so cruel as to have given her another chance at heartbreak, and with two younger men to boot?!

The sex scenes in this are just as hot as the books that came before this and I love that we stay within the same family. The story is a good one and my only reason for having taken away a star is for the fact I just couldn’t bring myself to like two of the characters. I enjoyed the interactions the characters had with one another, some of it made me laugh, it was the characters individually that was the problem for me. Others wouldn’t have the same issue but for me….. I think you know where I am coming from now.

On a side note I loved the last part of the story and cannot wait to meet the final brother yet to find his mate, if this small clip is anything to go by it could be the best one yet….

Please note I was given a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

I freaking loved this book!! I have read all the books in this series so I have high expectations but Eve blow them out of the water. It has her trademark sarcastic humor but it was even better this time. I think I gave my abs a mini workout from laughing so hard. I loved the plot as well as the all the sexual tension oozing from the characters. I think this might be the best in the series so far.. or at least tie for first place.

Patricia is was a great heroine. She was funny and gave the men lots of crap. I also really liked that she was so loyal to her mate that died. It showed she loves deep and that made her relationship with them mean even more. It was nice to see an older heroine because I don’t think there are enough books about older women.

Stu is a nerd… but I loved him. He was extremely funny especially when taunting Ricky. He jumped right in to help save shifters in the prison system and that makes you like him right away. He was pretty smooth by seducing Patricia with his nerdiness. That takes some skills.

Ricky had a rocky past but saw the light and changed. He helps troubled youth (seriously who wouldn’t fall for a man like that). I felt bad for him because the reason he was helping because the culprit had murdered his brother. He didn’t want other family to feel that pain so he did everything he could to help. He is a bit alpha male and sometimes a bit crude but it worked for him.

Beware there are lots of ‘don’t drop the soap jokes’ but they never really get old. This was a great ménage because the men were total polar opposites. It made everything work perfectly. I loved how chivalrous the guys were. Scorching hot is the only way to describe the sex scenes. I felt like being in the prison added some sexual tension because they couldn’t fool around whenever the mood hit. I would call this book a must read for anyone who enjoys ménages, shapeshifters, or erotic books in general.

~Thank you to the author for a copy of this book in exchange for a honest review.~

The most recent addition to Freakn' Shifters, continues with all the delightful unique characters, sex scenes, and underlying action-oriented plotlines of the rest of the series.

We meet Stu, another of the Grayson wolves, the quiet, shy one who can smack-down and survive just like the rest of this family. His earnestness breaks my heart. And we get to see Patrica, the agent from "Already Freakn' Married" - I had hoped to see her again. The other male in the mating fever menage is the never tame Ricky, a *mostly* reformed criminal. The interactions between them are great.

Did have a few problems with this story. The second advice session with Mom Grayson had a lot of overlap with stuff Stu previously said to Ricky, yet Stu finds it amazing and insightful. That redundancy should have been caught by the content editor and adjusted. The other problem is if you are going for a Cougar story - go for it! Don't have just 10 years difference between the youngest and oldest members of the menage. I understand the author was restricted by previously existing characters who need to be of breeding age, but I really would have liked to see more than a 29-30 something-39 mix - Cougar to me means at least 15 years difference. But again, I understand the limitations of previously existing characters so I am not marking down for this issue. Finally So the editor in me wasn't as happy with this book as I was with the others.

The reader in me found it great fun, as all her previous books have been.

Law enforcer and cougar shifter Patricia has an impossible case to crack. And it's not finding out who's killing shifters in prison. It's fate, who after already having loved and lost her mate a few years before, thought it would be cruel to not only find her another mate, but two! She shouldn't be so attracted to the two younger shifters. She loved her mate with all her heart, how can she love again?
Stu is the ultimate geek. He'd rather spend his time playing WoW or hacking computers than play sports or go outside. He's shy and sweet, but once he finds his matr, nothing will stop him from claiming her.
Ricky is a reformed criminal looking for justice for his little brother, one of the murdered shifters. He's not gunna let some young pup swoop in and steal his mate. Not when she deserves someone strong and alpha like.
Can they find the killer before it's too late? Will there be a happily ever after for the trio?

I loved this book! ^_^
Captured me and dragged me right in once again with this series. I absolutely adore Stu! He is such a sweetie but when he gets his confidence up, bam lookout ;) I love how geeky he is, so shy yet so smart. He's very intuitive for his age, and knows when to back off and give Patricia space, and when to push her limits.
Ricky is more of the tough alpha guy who talks dirty and goes after what he wants regardless. But that kind of attitude deters Patricia from taking him seriously or wanting to get involved.
I loved the dynamics of this trio. On one hand she had a sweet, sensitive guy who filled that side of her needs, then she had the strong alpha type to take control when needed. A very enjoyable (and HOT) read, and a great addition to this series.

Can't wait to see what's next!

One thing you can count on is Eve delivering a great ménage story. Heck, I love her ménages so much she could writes these stories all freaking day and I would make sure I was planted right in front of her with my hands out ready to gobble up the next one. LOL

Freakin’ Cougar is a bit different than other books by Eve. You still get the same great snarky, humorous storylines but this time around you get a real Cougar lady (meaning older lady with a much younger man) in the mix and the setting is mostly in a prison. Prison? How in the heck can someone have a romance in a prison, you say? Well, it’s just one you have to read to find out how well it worked for these three.

What I liked best about the story is the heroine is over 30. Yep, me being over 40 I get sick and tired of reading characters under 25. This is one of the main reasons I read indie published books because they don't have to follow traditional publishing rules, that characters has to be under 25.

Great characters along with a different storyline. I recommend this story to anyone who reads romance. I know some of you don’t like reading PNR but believe me Eve doesn’t create large PNR worlds that will just blow your mind. I myself call her books more along the lines of contemporary romance with some paranormal added. So, don’t be scared, if you love snarky characters, funny storylines then please give this whole series a try.

Can this be read as a standalone? Yes

Patricia has lost her mate, and now she's feeling the pull to not one but two men. Complicated enough as it is, but their on the trail of a killer and there's no time to sort through her feelings for these two men while their in prison posing as inmates and she's posing as a guard.

Stu is shocked when he realizes the sexy cogur 10 years his senior is his mate and even more so when he realizes the arrogant tatted meat head he's supposed to be working with is also her mate. Will his quite submisive demenour cause him to lose out on a chance with Patricia or will she see past his nerdy side to who he is?

Ricky knows what he wants and he's gonna get her she might be domonate in many ways but she'll yield to him no and's if's or but's about it. Now what to do about the other guy going after her too?

With mystery, intregue, steamy moments, and a good dose of humor there's a little bit of everything in this book. You get to see these three get to know each other under difficult circumstances and have fun learning how to be together while trying to survive a crazy killer.

I loved getting to see all three POV's and how they were each dealing with everything going on. Stu is such a sweetie and very insightful even if he is inexperianced and in a way that help him. Ricky's alpha male is a sharp difference, but you can see who the two balance each other out. And watching Patricia learn to trust and love again after everything she's lost brings even more depth to the story. Lots of great laugh out loud moments and even more too hot to bare times made for one well rounded enjoyable read.
