For those who are tired of feeling overwhelmed and directionless, this short, sweet little book will leave you with the same energy and purpose you get from a candid chat with a great friend. In Your Best Year Ever, Kelly Exeter looks at the life lessons she's learned the hard way. With brutal honesty, practical advice and inspiring examples, she shares 7 simple ways to shift your thinking for the better. When the last page is turned, you'll feel fully equipped • Make better decisions; • Form better habits; • Manage your time better; and • Simply be the best person you can be.
Such an easy read but really, really, overflowing with substance. Every chapter is going to make you nod and say "Yeah, that's actually right" or "That definitely makes a lot of sense." If you're looking for sort of a crash course on everyday life, this book is for you!
Good quick, easy read, just like she promised in the introduction! Nothing groundbreaking, but good stuff to be reminded of. Now I need to get back to developing a new habit that will help me define who I want to be. :-D
A collection of self-help advice is like a basket of pretty jewels. Although everything has quality, some appeal more than others based on personal taste and whatever is going on in one's life.
With Kelly's book, I found some chapters more applicable than others. I loved her ideas around decision making, that we're deserving of the same level of respect, and the notion of wobbly courage.
There will be something worthwhile in this book for everyone. Put your hand into this basket of pretty jewels and find something to love.
I enjoyed reading this book and found several points that resonated with me, like I am no better than anyone else and no one else is better than me. The part about time also rang true, how you use your time boundaries automatically to make you more productive in the first place. It's a worthwhile book.
Read it all in one sitting, short and sweet. As others have said, some parts apply to me right now more than others; the most pertinent for me was the reminder of how easy it is to waste time, but you always have a fresh start tomorrow. Don't be angry with today's wasted time, make better use of your time from now on!
Very sound, practical advice which can realistically be implemented, and make meaningful changes to most of our lives. I found it a really good and not overly complicated read - which was ideal for its purpose. Highly recommended.
Interesting, quick read. Not sure what my tangible take aways are but I like her thoughts about treating other people, time, and habits. One of the messages seems to be about the benefits of taking a positive approach to interactions and life.
I read this book in one sitting. At only 10,000 words this is easy to do. Exeter has some great ideas presented here. It was certainly well worth reading.
Kelly's book really made me think how important mindset is to each and every day. Your Best Year Yet is engaging, thought provoking and uplifting, and may even give you a few light-bulb moments.
A gem of a find. This has the quiet yet soothing voice of practical knowledge applied to real life situations. I will read and re read as my need defines. Simply brilliant and uplifting.
Does not reinvent the wheel, yet it reminded me of how one sometimes can self destroy one's path. A good read to do from beginning to end in one sitting.
I actually loved this little book. It helped me get to know a bit better one of the women behind a Podcast that I love so much, but more than that...it was filled with those little bits of knowledge that maybe you've heard before, but I always seem to need a good reminding about.
As a self-help and self-improvement book junkie, there wasn't a ton in here that I haven't read in other places...there usually isn't. But, you can hear things a million times and all it takes is that one person to say it in a different context, or wrapped within a personal story that resonates, and all of a sudden it sticks. I felt like Exeter's delivery of her tips about Time Management, Habit Building, "Wobbly Courage" and more were so down to earth and grounded that they really sat well with me. I highlighted darn near the entire thing...and I was still thinking about it this morning. That doesn't happen all the time.
