I was born into this world unwanted.

I spent the first hours of my life unloved.

I spent the first eighteen years of my life with the parents who tried to shelter me from the harsh reality of my existence.

But you can’t un-write a sad story if the ending is literally written all over your face.

So I moved out and now I hide. I have a night job that pays the bills. Every night, I put on my mask and walk to work.

Then one night, I hear and see something that will change my purpose in life... forever: a murder that will bring him to me.

He says he wants to protect me. And, through a series of events I can’t fully make sense of, I find myself believing him.

But our nightly visits are always cloaked in darkness. I don’t know his face and he will never know mine.

I was born into this world unwanted. I will leave this world unmasked.

This book should have been titled " Everything but the kitchen sink"

I have no idea how to rate this book nor do I have the time to summarize everything that happened. It definitely had some caliente moments and it kept my attention, but....but.....

I don't even know where to start... What just happened?

So...ummmm...let's see...errrr....

I'll start out by saying this was super mysterious, strange, and crazy as fuck. My mind is all over the place right now...and I love it!

 photo tumblr_lk6o6as4Ra1qcnhhzo1_500_zps3f87ce1f.gif

19 year old Alex stays hidden. Black pants, black hoodie, sunglasses, and only tries to come out at night. Her parents and herself would say she's hideous, a monster, and she shouldn't give people a chance to ridicule her. She has lived the past 18 years in her parents basement learning Krav Maga and other training from her special ops father. She can take care of herself.

One night, she witnesses a murder, and the shit hits the fan.

 photo tumblr_lhzabd60Aj1qf5a9a_zps9b69f697.gif

I'm going to just stop there. If you've read the blurb, and think it sounds intriguing, go for it!

I was hooked immediately when I started. After a few chapters it seemed like Alex was changing. She was different and her personality wasn't the same one we were introduced to. So I was a little put off by her shift in identity. And then toward the end, this made a lot of sense. But then, it was a serious WTF moment! Now I have no clue what is going on. So obviously I am diving into the next one.

Sorry if this vague, but since it's a novella (and yes, all 3 are out), you just can't give too much away. It just has to be read to even start to comprehend. Just know I would definitely recommend if you love a good mind fuck, and I have my fingers crossed that I'll continue to love the rest.

“The anticipation is half the fun. Wouldn’t you agree, Alex?”

This book is definitely a Five Dark-Beautiful ✭✭✭✭✭ Stars. If you like a Fast Amazing Paced, Can't-Stop-Reading-This-Because-I-Need-to-Know-What-the-Hell-is-going-on story, Well "Unmasked" is a book you must read.

WoW. Cassia have done it AGAIN! She just surprised all her fans with this new series. Very different from previous books, let me tell you. This is A whole different scenario. We are joining THE DARK SIDE! Yay!

happy photo 7540523_zpsbc2e4b02.gif

Alex is not you typical damsel in distress and not your typical girl. She's different. Everything about her is different. She is unexpected. I liked her immediately. Daimon. Oh good lord of Lust. That man is a mystery. A very sexy mystery. You will be fascinated by his actions. The way he talks. The way he commands. I don't have to say I am already in love with him!

happy photo tumblr_inline_myk4m33Itu1s7np37_zpsf669b187.gif

You will devour this book in just one hour. Let's say maybe two hours tops. I was captivated by the language and the Darkness. You can't put it down once you start reading. Alex doesn't know love. She has never been touched by man and Daimon comes from nowhere making her feel things she never felt before. Anticipation. Chemistry. Lust. Love.

But Who's Daimon? I mean the real Daimon? And Alex? What was the real reason her parents kept her hidden all these years? Find Out! Buy the book!

This story is shocking. Alarming. There are Secrets. Betrayals. Surprises. It's discovering who you are. It's experiencing new feelings.

It's discovering that The beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

I have no clue how to rate this book!

I don't even know what to say! It's like my mind is trying to unscramble what just happened, unsuccessfully. I seriously don't know what this whole book was about!

The writing and the tone was great.

Okay, I need to rant about this, sorry. I hate spoilers, but I have to! It's just too much for me to process. So DON'T READ THE FOLLOWING IF YOU HAVEN'T READ THE BOOK!

I can't, can't...
Hopefully the next Volume will clear some things up!

A chilling mystery where desire, deception, secrets and betrayal mix in a deadly combination that leaves you wanting more. I couldn’t get enough!

“The monsters we can’t see are the scariest ones of all.”

I was drawn in immediately. The language. The tone. The dark of night. Elements unite to set a sinister foundation for this story to unfurl. We met our protagonist, Alex, who leaves her house only during the shroud of night, donning a mask that prevents others from seeing her… inside and out. Despite dangers looming for any 19-year-old girl who walks the streets in the dark, she’s not afraid. She’s ready to take on anything and anyone that comes her way. She’s prepared. She’s been trained.

“People see me walking down the street at they smile, thinking I’m an easy mark. They can rob me or rape me, maybe even murder me, and they’ll get away with it. I won’t put up a fight. But they don’t know me. I’m far from easy.”

But this one night, a stranger follows. Hidden face. Just far enough away. Something doesn’t feel right. Yet circumstances shocking and alarming bring her face-to-face with this hooded man.

“He looks like a dark angel sent to deliver me to a hell where all my darkest desires will come true.”

And under the guise of comfort and assistance, he’s suddenly in her life and there’s something unsettling about that. About him. She needed to find out who he was and what he wanted.

“… he wants something. Everybody wants something. And whatever this guy wants, he needs me alive to get it.”

As his unexpected visits become expected, and anger and annoyance turn into surges of anticipation, their lives begin to entwine. Two mysteries trying to unmask the other. The chemistry between them builds and sizzles as Alex begins to allow him in, granting him parts of herself she’s never given before.

“My skin has been my enemy for nineteen years. But when he puts his lips on me, it’s as if all my enemies have fallen and the two of us are the only ones left standing.”

But through it all, something isn’t right. As I read, I felt a chilling sense of foreboding. We learn more about Alex’s past, her burdens, her secrets. It’s heartbreak and danger and a whole lot of questions we’ve yet to know the answers to. Alex is incredibly interesting and I’ve yet to really understand her. There are times where I felt for her and what she’d endured. Times I wondered whether she was crazy and not in the good way. She’s never felt love. Instead, she’s been taught to hide. To doubt. To fight back. And it’s hard to discern whether she takes the right actions in the situations she finds herself in.

This story is far from over and its end was brilliantly shocking. This first installment explores Alex’s past, the notion of beauty, the necessity of hiding, the consequences of secrets and betrayals. You can easily devour this first volume in one sitting and if you’re a fan of suspense and mystery, you’ll want to one-click this immediately. Enlivened by Cassia Leo’s expert writing, you’ll be lured in by this sinister tale and fascinated by this 19-year-old girl whose actions are so unexpected that it keeps you guessing at what will surprise you next. Certainly the end was shocking in more ways than one!

There are three volumes in the series. Volume 1 is available now, Volume 2 releases on June 24th, and the final volume of Unmasked, Volume 3, will be out July 8th.

“The world is full of cruel injustice, ma chérie. Injustice that will make you want to give up everything and everyone you’ve ever loved. But it’s also full of devastating beauty.”

***GASP*** I WANT TO READ THIS!!!!!!

This is the first of a new erotic romance/suspense series about "a woman whose life changes after a mysterious murder, bringing an enigmatic man into her life who swears to protect her."

I’ve spent the subsequent fourteen years of my life with the parents who’ve tried to undo the damage of those first five years.

But you can’t un-write a sad story if the ending is literally written all over your face.

So I moved out and now I hide. I have a night job that pays the bills. Every night, I put on my mask and walk to work.

This is one of those books where you're cruising along just fine and think you know what's going on, then you make it to the end and...WHAM! You find out that you're totally clueless, know absolutely nothing and are certain that your edition of the book must have been shorted a few critical chapters. After all, there is absolutely no explanation for what just happened. Right??? Honestly, I think I know less about the story and characters than I did when I started this book! Confused? Not yet, but you will be.

Here's the gist of what [I think] I know about this story. Alex has led an extremely sheltered life, hidden away in the dark d/t being born with facial skin discoloration and eyes of different colors (one light gray/white and 1 brown). Her extreme self-consciousness r/t her appearance has her living a life focused on hiding and avoiding all human contact. Then she met him.

Daimon commits a murder one night, which Alex witnesses on her walk to work. Then he begins showing up at her apartment routinely, pushing her boundaries. Although she doesn't trust him or his motives, Alex begins to anticipate the visits from this persistent stranger.

Before long, their visits are punctuated by steamy sexual encounters. In no time flat, the virginal Alex transforms into an adventurous, sex-starved Lolita. They seem to be falling in love rapidly. Things are looking up for Alex and Daimon.

Then, the book ends with a shocking twist that left me feeling totally blindsided! I'm not going to say what happens and ruin it, but Ms. Leo definitely ended this first book in the series with a bang. I'm still scratching my head, wondering where the hell it came from and what the hell I missed. There had to be clues that I missed or something. How could I not see this coming???

Yep, she definitely messed with my head. I'll be starting book 2 now. It's a good thing that I waited to start this series until all 3 books were released. I'd be one very anxious lady right now if I had to wait for weeks or months to finish this one!

I really enjoyed this first installment of the Unmasked Series. Lots of suspense and drama that will leave you sitting on the edge of your seat.

First, you will meet Alex, a nineteen-year-old girl who hides from the world. She lives in a world of almost total darkness. She is one strong woman. And well-trained to look after herself. You would not want to cross her. But, to survive in this world, that is how she needs to be. Most of her life she has been hidden away by the people who should have loved her most.

Then we meet Daimon, another strong character. And there is a bit of a mystery to him. After she sees him murder someone, he sort of takes over Alex's life. But is he really who he says he is? I suggest you read this book to find out. So much more to Alex's story and I cant wait to find out. This is going to be another great series by Cassia Leo.

Wow! I didn't know what to expect going into this. I only read the first sentence of the synopsis. I love going in blind=)

Alex is a female you do not mess with. She was trained by her father for 14 years to defend herself.

Daimon, hmmmm I don't know what to say about Daimon. He created some very HOT moments in the book. I wanted to know WAY more about him. Hell I wanted to know more about Alex too! I am on to book 2 hoping for some more answers!!

I really don't know what to say. Did I love it? No. Did I hate it? No. It really didn't do much of anything. I wanted to love it. Loved the first few chapters but somewhere it just went off course. But it's not a waste of money or time. I'll read the next installment. So all in all 3 maybe 3.5 stars

Hands down the most confusing book ever! 2 stars only for the first half of the book that was amazing, the rest I don't even know...

Up to 50% it was freaking amazing, I was flipping the pages like crazy I loved every word, it was like a weird version of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo minus the technology and the crowd I guess. But It was dark and kick ass and with so little details I was ecstatic to read it and then 55% happened.

Enter a weird Detective that didn't make any sense at all and the kick ass heroine turned into a wannabe slut and the book went from dark to a weird erotica that not only didn't make any sense since she's literally kick ass and a killing machine so her personality shift was CONFUSING AS HELL but also, what the fuck?

Absolutely nothing. From that point it just went downhill, I was so close to DNFing it but I only kept reading just to see if it would at some point make sense. It didn't. That ending? Well...

At all. *shrugs* I don't get it.

5 TOTALLY UNEXPECTED STARS!

"The monsters we can't see are the scariest ones of all. "

Everyone knows if I see "dark" anywhere near a book, I'm on that shit. I've read one book by Cassia Leo, so I was a bit skeptic about reading this one. Usually I say "it was dark but not dark enough for me." And in all seriousness that was the case here BUT that's fine because the story was out of the box FANFUCKINTASTIC! And still had that hint of darkness I love in my stories. Nothing like a strong badass female to get my heart racing!!!!

WOAH. WOAH. WOAH. WHAT THE WHAT?!?!
I DID NOT EXPECT THE THINGS THAT HAPPENED!!! I giggle like a schoolgirl when a author throws me through a loop like this. Totally Gripping! I can't wait to read the rest of this. I hope the suspense stays within the next two books.

A MUST READ!!!!

When I started to read this I was like "ok calm down you're gonna understand all this" because it was messy. Fucked up. I felt stupid because I didn't get the characters (specially the main one), I didn't understand their motivations, and the twist, MY GOD, what the actual fuck happened there ?

And then I read book number 2.... what a waste of my time. Everything single thing is ridiculous. Too much.

Negative 100 stars!

First chapter started strong and certainly piqued my interest. Then, like a balloon deflating, there was nothing left but a flabby, listless piece of plastic for the remainder of this crap called a book.

I get that this weird chick has a serious complex and has been held prisoner in her parent's basement for the majority of her life, but come on... really! She trained to kill and be a total hard ass that's detached from people & she is going to let some strange Mf'er that she knows is a) lying b) shot some dude in front of her c) is acting like a total creeper in and let him screw her after a couple of 5 minute convos in the dark! Shit no! I can't buy that on an level of my VERY vivid imagination.

Reviewers raved about hot sex scenes, right? Well uhmm no! Even if I could get past the ^above point, there is nothing hot about telling a virgin to woman up and there damn sure isn't anything hot about a guy saying "you're very clean." Not no, but hell to the N-O!

Unbelievability and stupidity seems to be running themes because shortly after this crazy chick has some flashback of her mystery lover that leaves her following him around, she's asking him to role play "taking her by force" {let's call shit what it is... Rape} and telling him "I trust you." Yeah, I can't make this shit up people, and I'm still in complete shock that the author's fingers could type this shit out! Of course, the author gives a big shocker {excuse me while I roll my eyes straight outta my head} reason for the whole 'rape me' scene, but that don't change the fact that the killer dude could've killed her stupid ass too as he now has her in such a vulnerable position. Nah, not buying this shit either.

I know sooo many 'detectives' that drive Mercedes hardtop convertibles. Low profile, huh?

"Men are so weak when it a blow-job is being offered" - wait, how the hell would this chick who, until a few days ago, had never been kissed, danced, or had sex know about bjs and men's thoughts? Just saying~

Love triangle lmao. Girl goes from freaky hermit that is sooo ugly she has to wear industrial makeup and live in the f'ing dark to social butterfly with hot guys lined up to hump her & forfeit riches. I'm not sure who needs the condoms more, her or the readers!

I often allow myself to get shitfaced drunk with a guy that may or may not be trying to kill me, but that I'm obviously suspicious enough of to go kill some more sketchy dudes & paint a target on my back because I want to investigate the guy. Yeah!

Just don't waste your money. Hell don't even bother if this one is free on Amazon unlimited cause this book is like topping a delicious bowl of mint chocolate chip I've cream with mustard and mayo ... Ya just don't do that shit!

An alluring and suspenseful tale…

Alex was dealt a raw hand in this life from the moment she was born. She’s been sheltered from the world by her parents, trained to survive by her father. But all things must change and so she went out on her own, sticking to the night hours and always masked from the world. Then one night she witnesses a murder and a man comes into her life, a man with secrets who will change everything.

Daimon Rousseau comes to the woman who hides in darkness with his own agenda, one he does not share and that we don’t find out a little about until the end of this volume. He keeps himself hidden from her as she does from him and it seems that he gains a semblance of her trust as he breaks down her defenses. But not everything is as at seems in this alluring tale filled secrets, mystery and betrayals.

This is the first volume of a three part serial. Normally I wait until serials are complete before reading but this blurb seemed to fit the mood this reader was in and it was of a decent length. I was not disappointed and read this piece in one sitting.

This was an intriguing and suspenseful tale with many truths to be discovered. If you have a good imagination you will know who knocked at her door for the identity would enhance the storyline if it were true. You can somewhat figure out her malady before it is revealed from the way the character hid her looks but you will not see the twist at the end coming though you might wonder why the cigarette butt she found was of such interest to her. You’ll know why it was at the end. We are NOT privy to her innermost thoughts, she keeps many things from us and that makes the story more interesting.

This reader was left to wonder a number of things which if you haven’t read the story you will not understand. Why did she choose to do what she did? Did she really care enough to avenge? Things happened quickly, is it possible the act she perpetrated was not as final as it seemed? Who put the fruit back from where it had been tossed? Or was it just her imagination? This reader thinks not. This reader is looking forward to the next installment and will be wondering where the author will take us next.

This book was a mystery from the very first page until the very last.

"The monsters we can't see are the scariest ones of all.”
“I spent the first eighteen years of my life with the parents who tried to shelter me from the harsh reality of my existence.”

The story follows Alex, a girl who doesn’t go out in the daylight due in part to a medical condition that leaves her skin discolored, as well being brought up in home where she was sheltered. She was trained to fight and take care of herself by her father, and cast aside by her mother. She moves out on her own and works nights at a convenience store, gas station.
“Then one night, I hear and see something that will change my purpose in life... forever: a murder that will bring him to me.”
She meets Daimon, who is elusive, mysterious, and quite possibly dangerous. He says he is a detective, but Alex is not quite sure. He gets under Alex’s skin, and she can’t stop thinking about him.
Their chemistry is great between Alex, and Daimon. Daimon is so mysterious and sensual. The sex scenes were titillating.
This book was full of suspense, twists, turns and some very steamy scenes. It is very different from other books by Cassia. I loved it and the ending left me wanting to know what happened next.
I was a bit worried at first by one of the sex scenes, when Alex wanted to be taken forcefully. I wasn’t sure why it was put in and at first I was going to stop reading. I am glad I continued as it made sense near the ending of the book.
