High end event planner Jillian Korrigan is very publicly left at the altar by the favored son of a prominent DC family. Determined to discretely weather the storm, she finds herself with an unlikely assignment planning a motocross race at the Desert Heat track near Phoenix, Arizona.
Vintage car restoration artist Devlin Camden is at home on the motocross track, dust in his eyes and dirt in his hair. He’s met women like Jillian before, eye-candy on the arms of multi-millionaires. They peer down their aristocratic noses at the guy who customizes their extravagant cars.
But Devlin is loyal to Desert Heat, and making nice with the woman means upgrades to the track and a windfall to the owner. So, he’ll put up with the sexy, snooty Jillian, and maybe even talk her into his uncivilized bed.

Cute, enjoyable, quick. I liked both the leads, though I don't necessarily understand why they are together other than some really good chemistry. Throughout the story, they are constantly saying how they are a bad match and they don't fit in each others worlds, but then they kiss and sleep together and they suddenly love each other? I'm not saying they can't, because they both seem like wonderful people and their kind of match has worked before, I just didn't see it develop at all. There's couples who you see together and think, oh they are a bad match, but then you look deeper and see how similar they are in some ways or how they complement each other really well, but I just didn't see that here. I thought the interactions with the kids was sweet, showing they'll be great parents one day.
The issue of his education was brought up like it was a big deal and then dropped. I don't personally care if he completed college or not, but since the story brought it up as a big talking point, especially in so short a story, I felt there should have been more follow through with the reasons why he chose not to finish.
Just like the first book, it's weird how immediately after they declare they love each other they decide they're getting married. I would think there would be some time lapse of an actual relationship developing (rather than a casual fling they thought would end quickly) before they moved on to the marriage part. And the guys can't even ask? It doesn't have to be some wonderful, magical moment but a little bit of a sweet moment would be nice to mark such a momentous occasion.
Overall though I thought it was cute and fun and I enjoyed reading it.
In this second novel in this quirky, romcom series, with 20-something, romantic protagonists, we are offered another highly entertaining "opposites attract" romance. Jillian is a hard-working, successful party planner from Washington, DC, and Devlin is a talented, prosperous mechanic from Phoenix, who restores classic cars. In the ordinary course of events, these two would never meet. But that's where the intervention of a coterie of matchmaking, Florida-based senior citizens comes in, making romance magic happen.
In every way, this book is just as enjoyable as the first book in the series. I love the characters, the premise and its execution. The progression of the romance is believable, and the sex scenes are sensitively written with no crudeness of language or behavior. Best of all, it is a romantic comedy that's actually funny! I laughed out loud numerous times.
I have read this book multiple times over the years, and it is definitely a keeper.
Jillian Korrigan and Devlin Camden seemed to have nothing uncommon but those senior citizens over in Florida think they will be the perfect match. Look for another fun book where two unlikely people find themselves draw together. This is another fun read filled with fun characters and quite a bit of drama before another two people find their HEA. I got book one free on Amazon and loved the concept enough that I bought book two.
Matchmaking grans and gramps - it gives them something to do in retirement! H/h epitomize the adage about opposites attract; he's grit and danger while she's Prada and precision. Sizzling chemistry, a sideline of teens being teenagers, the mechanics of motocross racing and event planning combine nicely.
This was pretty good for what it was. Nice distraction from everyday life. When it got towards the end I was disappointed to find that SPOILER…the h would even consider taking the ex back. Of course there always has to be a miscommunication but that is a no brainer.
Cute, quick, and pure entertainment. The old folks have managed to pull off another match from Retirement Ville. Who will be next in their matchmaking sights? This is a purely fun series.
Some guys are just good with their hands. A delightful story that was entertaining. It's amazing what a little hard work can do in the right situation.
Loved the story, especially the fact that the characters from the previous book also made an appearance! I am definitely intrigued by the group of "senior" friends! They are just as entertaining as Devlin and Jillian!
