So Mr. Chipfellow, wealthy beyond belief, dies. Before he dies, he secures the major immensity of his wealth inside an indestructible vault, locked with an uncrackable key. The only way to open the vault, is to sit in front of the door of the vault, on a stone bench, and think a thought.
The "right" thought" btw, as decreed by Mr. Chipfellow himself. And the door will open for that person who thinks the "right" thought.
And it is an innocent, ten year old girl who succeeds when all others before her have failed.
So why did she succeed while others failed?
My guesses:
1. The little girls thoughts were about giving charity to others and not about greed and how she would benefit from spending the said wealth.
2. Everyone one else only thought about Mr. Chipfellow as a cipher. A wealthy man from whom they could obtain large amounts of cash. The little girl thought of him as a human being, and wished him happiness, no matter what the afterlife may bring.
3. The little girl had no interest in wealth and riches. She was too busy just being a child.
4. It was a fluke thought, and she just got lucky.
