Thoughtful presentation of the story of God's people told from the perspective of the prophets of Israel, laying out the foundation for coming of the Messiah and God's redemptive salvation for all; with part two focusing on the epistles of the Apostle Paul, where his theology shines.
I enjoyed learning about the prophets, their times, their kings in chronological order. Although I prefer some over others, e.g. Isaiah, Jeremiah, Hosea, Micah over Ezekiel, I appreciated all of them.
As for Paul, admittedly, he wasn't a favorite of mine prior to this study. Sure, certain pairs of his letters I resonated with, e.g., Romans 8 and 1 Corinthians 13; others, meh. Not so much (e.g., the parts about women being silent). However after this study, I have a new found appreciation for his brilliance, and an understanding to remember to keep certain things in the context of the times they were written.
How he lays out Adam (sin) Moses (law) Prophets (warning) Jesus (grace) and us (witness, courage, and sentinels), as well as the importance of the church (family) is amazing.
I've now completed all four in the Disciple series. A journey which took 7 years, and was well worth it!
