The recipes are not tested by the author. But I appreciate this book for what it is. Every recipe is authentic and was provided to the author by Jewish families around the world. I like the classic formatting of crediting the name and location of the contributor and including a little note about the origins when one was provided. The recipes themselves are not great, at least the ones I have sampled. However, I did learn some rules of what categories of food they can and cannot eat together, which explains the heavy use of margarine, dairy-free creamer, and other similar highly processed substitutes.
