I was looking at one of my friend’s "read" list for last year and saw this book only had four ratings and no reviews (as of the time I write this, obviously). I felt bad for the author (since I had never heard of her before) and wanted to read it to at least give it one review. Now I wish I hadn’t.

The Plot of the book is: Rich guy is tired of women wanting him for his money. He goes on a dating app for women who want to be with rich men. Anyone else see the issue here?
When I say there is a lot of telling, instead of showing, I mean that there is A LOT, as in…every…single…page. There were SO many opportunities to give us some insight into the characters through words or reactions, and there were none. I’m fifteen pages in and have absolutely no feelings about anyone.
SOME examples:
“This was the first time Chloe got a seat in first class.” Pg 9
“Chloe thought she knew where he was going (needs a comma) but wanted him to say.” Pg 10
“Chloe wasn’t sure what to say.” Pg 11
Apparently, this happens to her often.
“Chloe wasn’t sure what to ask.” Pg 12
“Chloe was amazed to see a castle.” Pg 13
“Chloe recognized what was in the bowls.” Pg 14
The story moves too fast for a novella. Some things are repeated, and most things are left out completely. I was SHOCKED to find out that the author was a USA Today Bestselling Author. Things move so fast that there is no buildup, no tension, and it has been written with too much positivity at the beginning. His town was perfect, his people were perfect, everything was perfect. That's not exciting to read. If your life is perfect, then why should I root for you? Because girls hit on you, and it bothers you? That's not a real problem. It had potential, but wasn't worth finishing.
