Alyssa Worthington is the daughter and sole heir to the most prestigious coven in the witch world. Her childhood has been spent in the mundane human world, learning to blend in and hide who she truly is, and it is here, during her last year, that she meets a striking ex-high school quarterback from a small town in Montana who will turn her world upside down. Unlike her best friends Lisa and Megan, Alyssa holds the element of fire, who are both air elementals. The elemental powers that reside inside require positive thoughts and positive actions to maintain this magickal connection.

What would happen to a witch that lets their element get out of control? How can evil become the driving force behind revenge and death? Dark secrets, dark magick, and a desperate desire for revenge will bring Alyssa to the brink of destruction. She is being chased, but this pursuit is silent, and her chaser has only one goal.

Alyssa’s complete and total destruction.

Will she overcome this dark threat and begin to live out her destiny? Will she survive, and if so, will she lose herself as part of the price for being alive? Or, will her destiny rest on being crescent bound?

Honestly, I got about 22% of the way through this book and just can't bring myself to finish it.

I really enjoyed the premise of the book and the fact that Alyssa has a hobby that doesn't involve the use of magic. I think that this could be a really good story and if someone wants to fill me in on what happens, I would welcome that but I'm way too frustrated to spend any more time on it.

Maybe this is just me and it seems like no one else had a problem with the quality of writing in this book but I honestly can't see how that could be. Two reviews (identical reviews by separate members?!?!) even go so far as to say that this is "very well written". The grammar is truly awful and it needs way more than a light editing. I understand that in a first novel, there is going to be room for improvement as far as craft goes (which there certainly is) but there is no reason that an author shouldn't follow the basic rules of grammar concerning fragments, run-ons, subject-verb agreement, and in a few cases words that are just plain awkward in a particular context.

I really enjoy reading books by self-published authors and I applaud anyone who puts themselves out there like this but without proper editing, this book will chase away readers who might otherwise really enjoy it.

I would recommend this to people who are just concerned with the story and don't pay attention to writing style and grammar. This book has gotten great reviews based on content so far so why not? If you are a person who got frustrated reading Twilight or 50 Shades because of the writing, this will drive you crazy.

This wonderful story is about a young women and her 2 childhood friends all now seniors in High School. Magically hidden from the other Students, till 1 can see through. Oh what a ride that will be. Magic is everywhere and so beautiful. More Friends enter this trio and off to a wonderful world filled with Magic, Trust, Love, FUN, Friendship!

Oh did I forgot Drag Strip for teens and adults. Also hidden from us mortals!

Alyssa Worthington is a Fire Witch. She has powers that are yet to be tapped. This puts her on the list of most coveted by the bad guys. Her friends and family will do everything in their powers to help Alyssa survive. Marcus is from a coven long thought extinct. He doesn't know about Witches or anything paranormal. He is about to have a crash course in Witches and Love if he is to save his Crescent Bound

The book kept my attention, all the characters showed promise of being the best of friends and yet no one is perfect and all accepted this.

Very Well Written. Most of the time I forgot I was reading a Book. This tells me a lot about the Author. Karli Rush is an Author to Watch!!

I Highly Recommend this Book!!

My review of Crescent Bound by Karli Rush

Rating 5*****

This book was provided free from the author in exchange for honest literary review.
A Little Bit of R&R review panel review by Michelle McQueen

Alyssa has led very different life from most of us humans. She was born into a family of Royal witches. She prefers drag racing to going out and having typical teen age fun. To beat it all her boyfriend of two years has dumped her just months before she starts her senior year of high school.
As has happened all her life, her family once again has relocated to a small town in Montana. As witches do not age like most, it makes living in one town for long periods of time impossible. This small town happens to change Alyssa's whole life. Marcas is the hometown hero. Up until his senior year he was the biggest sports star in town. Now Alyssa is the only sport he seems to be chasing. Since he came into the picture, Alyssa can't think straight. She knows that there can be no life for her with a human, yet her fire affinity calls to Marcas. What can she do?

This book is absolutely hot. The romances are steamy, but it actually fits in the story without seeming trashy. True to nature, the author explains how witches see sexuality as an extension of nature not the taboo subject mortals tend to see it as. The spellwork done by the witches also follow some of the properties of the herbs used. I love that the author included that. There is a little bit of everything in this novel. The action is very fast paced. It flows well without being junky or cluttered and confusing. Next the romance is steamy between Marcas and Alyssa. I happen to love the fact that Alyssa is a true kick but lead female. She is almost fearless, which only adds to my love of this character. I am glad that this is a series, because the ending left me wanting more.....
This book is a mature audience book.
Would I recommend this to others? yes. ALso I am looking forward to rereading this one when the series complete. Great work from this autho!

I have to say this book deserves a 5star review due to exceptional writing. there were a lot of mistakes I encounters but am willing to overlook on account this book was exceptionally written and should have been edited better.
I found myself compeled to read from the start. It's one of those books you can't put down or don't want to.when you have too.
It is very large in size but never the less it never got boring or tiring in any way.
The characters are exceptional and you jus t fall in love with them. they immediately draw you in. I even found myself lol a few times at the girls antics. especially Megan.
The 3witches Alyssia, Lisa and Megan are just so.loveable , funny, and have a great friendship. a true friendship where no.matter what they are their for each other.
The guys who.play in, Dawson, David and of course Marc are all quite amusing or just strong characters in the book.

getting to the real.point this book is about a love story, a true witches nature, loving family and friends to the end, true witches covers nature and teachings. The elements and gifts witches posses and I.think Karli Rush captured it well. She didn't add too much false meaningless, made up witch things to ruin it. she kept on track with the true nature and how it's suppose to be, although you do have your rouge witches out there or just plain crazy ones.
But this book is a great read. I can't wait to read book.2and I doubt if I'll stop there seeing there are 4 in all to.the crescent bound series.

I wish I would have discover this book before when it was new key released. It's a great read and I would not by pass it because of the mistakes in writing.

This was a completely captivating read that was very hard to put down. My initial thought was the book was YA, because of the HS students, but I was wrong. This was a very mature read with exceptionally mature characters considering their age. The main character is Alyssa, senior in HS, heir to the most powerful witch coven. She is smart, level headed, brave, a very inspiring female. That was one thing I did like about her. As I was reading, I was very impressed with the re-actions and the decisions her character made. She has two side kick best friends, Lisa and Megan, who are pivotal in helping Alyssa through life. Not to mention adding some great fun and humor to her life. We are introduced to three male characters plus Alyssa’s father. David, Dawson and Marc all possess devotion and strength to the female characters. Their support, whether physical or emotional, makes them such attractive characters. Alyssa’s father is the coven leader and therefore gives strength and leadership to everyone. The story is told in Alyssa’s POV which I really enjoyed. The author did a great job with explaining details that you didn’t miss out on the other characters actions and feelings, so the need was not there to use multiple POVs. This was a long book, 300+ pages. There were some areas that really didn’t need the extra attention, or didn’t need to be there at all to progress the story but it was still readable. I gave this a 5 Star review for the constant dramatic story line and an enticing love triangle. There was always something happening, changing from one challenging situation to the next which leaves you in great anticipation. I was very sad when I finished Crescent Bound, but I see book 2 is already out! Happy Reading.

I got this book on a whim and I am HOOKED.

The story revolves around a teenage Witch named Alyssa and her family and friends. She is living a mostly normal life, going to a Public High School but her friends are unlike most. They are all Witches and do things... well a little differently.

Trying not be to a spoiler here.
The book starts with Alyssa explaining who she is and how her family and friends live their lives. Remaining cloaked to the mundanes at High School (mundanes being Non-Witch) to protect themselves. Not so much that they are completely invisible, but that they don't stand out.... until a boy name Marc can see her and they don't know why. He becomes a major character and is in some ways (in my opinion) one of "heroes" of this book.

All of the the characters are VERY well thought out. Karli writes with descriptiveness that captures your imagination right away. From Alyssa's house to the Drag Strip and everything in between. While reading you will be able to see each place and character in your head, not to mention the smells.

The story continues through High School to when they all start the Arcane (an exclusive "university" for Witches). But don't be fooled, this is NOTHING like the Harry Potter books. It is more mature and for Mature Readers.
The spells she writes flow from the tongue and I think would probably even work because they sound/read so fluidly.

I am HOOKED on this series and already have Raven Bound, Demon Bound and Shadow Bound on my wishlist! This book was heart pounding, seductive, believable, and additive. I HIGHLY recommend this book if you enjoy Paranormal thrillers (with an erotic flavor)!

Crescent Bound is a story about friendship, love, loss and…witches. It's the first in a series. I was intrigued to read the story told from Alyssa's point of view; the young, beautiful, sexy and strong female lead that has a penchant for casting spells with her friends and racing cars. From the beginning I wanted to learn more about Alyssa and her world, especially the Arcane, and was drawn in quickly as the characters were developed quite nicely. The story was full of plenty of twists and turns that left me, as the reader, unsure of what was going to happen next, or who the 'bad guy' was. I don't know a whole lot about the witch world, but this book made me want to grab up all I can find! Though at times I was a bit confused as to whom the book is written for - as the main characters are teens, but the sexual content was more for a mature audience.

The only thing I would add is a really good editing. There were some grammatical errors; spelling mistakes and typo's, and there were parts within the chapters that felt as if a block of time was lost between paragraphs - easily fixed with a little divider between sections. I wanted to know where the story went, so it was easy to overlook these things, but again, with a solid edit and better defined audience, this story would be near perfect!

Crescent Bound is a great fantasy read for those who like to lose themselves in the witch's realm. I give the book 4.5/5 stars. It was fun, and I for sure will be following the series with interest - as I feel 'Bound' to follow these characters and see where Karli Rush takes them!

At first I kept thinking this storyline was going in totally different directions than it was & I had a little trouble trusting the male main character, but I stuck w/this & wow was I amazed at where the storyline ended up. I love the new twist on this witch story. Can't wait to read the next one.

I'm so glad that I was introduced to Karli through an Author event online because otherwise I am not sure if I would have found her books!

This is the first book in the series and if you are like me I must read the series in order and preferably one after the other so I suggest the same for this series. Another thing most first books in a series has is back story and character build. There is a lot of back story and character build in the beginning but it is necessary to understand the rest of the books. I know some people gave up, but then what was the point of reading. Karli certainly has done the research necessary to present Alyssa's powers and the traditions of the Coven correctly.

Alyssa is eagerly awaiting for her time to enter the Arcane (an exclusive "university" for Witches), but until then she attends a public high school cloaked to protect her identity from humans. Cloaking made it easier for humans not to notice them, but for some reason one did and it changed her whole world. She did not know that her meeting Marc would lead to so much controversy.

The thrilling and suspenseful path they endure is an emotional one. You as a reader will also experience the laughs, tears and angst.

I often think or perhaps I am haunted by the images of what Alyssa went through near the end. I didn't realize how many times I was holding my breathe as I read and the tears I would cry were unexpected as well.

Crescent Bound is definitely worth a read and I would suggest to be in a quiet and relaxed atmosphere so you can submerge yourself into the knowledge and storyline!

5 *wink* Read

Crescent Bound
By Karli Rush

Karli takes us into the life of Alyssa, a young teen witch that is finding herself. Alyssa participates in the human world but lives in her world where Magic is real and she is accepted by family and Coven. Each witch has a mate and when they find each other they become crescent bound. Their crescents show the world that they belong to someone. When she meets Marc she thinks he is a regular human and fears her attachment for him. She can only be bound with a Witch.
Alyssa loves to work on her car and does it with her dad. She shares with him a love for racing. Who would guess that in the Witch world they have their own racetracks and how did Marc get there if he is a human. The track is warded to keep the humans out. Alyssa’s dad recognizes that Marc is from a long line of witches and invites him into the coven. Marc has only lived in the human world and does not understand all there is in his new way of life. He does know that he values his life with Alyssa but is still challenged by feelings for an old girlfriend. When Alyssa and he become Crescent bound he has no idea how much hurt will come from on little kiss with another. Will Marc and Alyssa learn to trust each other again? Will she be able to forgive him?
Alyssa’s old boy friend tries to come back into her life and leaves a girl that is anything but understanding. She soon blames Alyssa for all the wrongs in her life and Alyssa is in for a fight with dark magic and is taken into a world created by a witch that has chosen evil. How will Alyssa find her way out of the dark realm and will she and Marc be able to save their relationship? These are all things you will find out when you read what it is to be Crescent Bound.

This was a fun read. In some ways it was different from other witch stories I've read and it brought some refreshing looks at witches.

Alyssa is a fire elemental witch. This means she can control fire. As a witch, she will live a VERY long time. For that reason, witches do not mate with humans. They would end up watching their mates die.

Alyssa goes to a human school until graduation. All witches do this, so they learn to deal in a hostile environment. I found that interesting. While there, she meets Marc, an ex-football player. They have a connection, but he's human, so it can't be. Then Alyssa finds out, he's not human, he's a witch. He's a witch from a coven everyone thought had died out. Once he meets Alyssa, he gains his powers.

Things are not all roses for them. They have some pretty serious hurdles to overcome. They're pretty daunting obstacles. I liked the drama and conflict in their story. It really added something to the story.

There were only a couple of things that didn't really work for me. The first thing was it was never explained how Marc knew how to do the binding spell. Since he had been only in the human world for all his life, how did he know how to do the binding spell. That was never fully explained.

The other thing that didn't work for me was the dream realm. I felt that was dragged out and I found myself wishing it would end.

Overall, this was an amazing book and I can't wait to read the rest in the series!

Alyssa is a fire elemental who is the daughter of the leader of the most powerful witches coven. Alyssa and her 2 besties attend regular high school, cloaked for the most part from the other students. When Marc, ex football star, starts up a conversation with her, while she is cloaked, she has to figure out how he can see her. Turns out Marc was adopted and unknown to him, he is an ice elemental witch. As Alyssa and Marc become closer, she loses her fire power and switches over to ice. There are exes in this book that cause some problems and an evil that is invading her dreams and could potentially end her life. I think this is a fun book, witches, fights, spells and Alyssa racing her baddass Shelby Mustang. I can't wait to see what happens in the next book. *there is sexual content in this book.

I received, Crescent Bound for free by the lovely, Karli Rush. All I can say is, I LOVE this book! I completely fell in love with the characters and I must say, Marc is now a part of my heart. With editing the story will be perfect but for me it did not affect the story. The plot is different from anything I have ever read and I must admit, I laughed, cried, and just fell in love with Marc. Would I recommend this book? YES!!! Not to young readers but definitely to everyone else. Can't wait to read the next book!

Confusing

I'm not sure why this book was written.....it's more like a stream of consciousness story than an organized novel. The characters lacked depth and purpose. I kept struggling through it to try to find something, but still ended up confused.

Crescent Bound
by Karli Rush

Witches in human school until the graduate High School then moving on to Witch University which is hidden from mundane eyes. I now accept this as a theme and it isn't so overdone as to dissuade me from enjoying the story. This tale has distinctive American culture tie ins illustrated by the not so impoverished protagonist being able to spend her hobby time drag racing expensive cars, going to parties almost every weekend and indulging in drink.

Differences between human and witch in this work, beyond obvious magic, include parental acceptance of teenage sex within covens and the formation of life-bonds (witch marriage) before the age of twenty. It's a book, I get it. Crescent Bound wins me over as a story because of the thriller aspect woven into a rogue witch suffering from psychological illness who becomes a stalker. That is all the spoiler I will give to the plot.

Though I like the plot and the thriller bit I am giving this three out of five stars. Why so? you ask. The reason lies in editing. No matter how much you like a story improper editing can do it a lot of harm.

This book was a really good start to the series. It got me invested in the characters and the world pretty quickly and the action kept me reeled in until the end. There are a few grammar errors but I am pretty sure they are intentional as the book is narrated by teenagers in a conversational manner.

The witchcraft in this series is pretty unique in its execution. I have never read anything quite like it and it added an extra layer to the story that was really needed. If the magic had not been so enthralling I am not sure I would have enjoyed the conversational style of the book.

I would classify this series as new adult urban paranormal fiction/romance. If the sex scenes were cut out I think it could be a big hit in young adult with a "clean" version. I can't wait to read the next book!

I was orginally given this ARC in exchange for an honest review. I loved it so much I bought the book (i know free lol) so the review would carry more weight as an amazon verified review.

Everyone has read books with witches and its hard to find something different. Well Karli manages to put a unique interesting spin on a classic story. I love witches with element affinty and how different it makes each of them. Alyssa is the daughter of the coven leader and a very respected Coven. The witches magic is based on good and positive feelings, so when someone is out to her alyssa, she has to fight the negative feelings and the havoc it causes. Throw in a romance with a high school student... a Jealous ex and fast cars. A match made in heaven.

I only gave 4 stars because of some grammar issues and some of the incantations were so easily made up and not at all realistic sounding.

What?! I thougt this book would be great, awesome even, after reading the blurb and seeing all the good comments.
But then I startend to actually read it and now I can't even finish it...

I think all these glowing reviews are fake or written by friends of the author, cause it's impossible to overlook the horrible writing and grammar.
This author needs more honest people in her life, cause I think she should be ashamed of letting us read such a bad written book.
The story could be great, but it really really REALLY is not right now.

The writing sucks too much, I can't really explain....if you're curious or haven't read the bad comments, have a try at it and you'll see for yourself... But I've warned you...

No Just No

I tried, I mean I really tried to read this book, but I can't.
Free books they usually have a few flaws. For the most part I can kind of overlook them by fixing the sentence in my head. This book though....it just needs to be redone!
Example:
" Suddenly, I find myself deep in thought when I hear around the corner undeniably Megan’s rich, seductive laughter so I quicken my pace."
The author's sentences are WAY too wordy, she constantly writes sentences and then immediately following that sentence rewrites that same sentence.
I seriously have no idea how this book got so many good rating.
