Contains four novels by Lesley Egan: A Case for Appeal, Against the Evidence, My Name is Death, and Some Avenger; Rise! All four deal with a lawyer named Falkestein. None contain the glorification of sex or profanity prevalent in the work of 21st century writers. Falkestein defends a woman on death row and two men accused of murder. He also fights to clear a police officer friend who is acussed of accepting a bribe. Egan is fond of using unusual multi-sylable.
