Finding Anna: A Memoir

Rate this book
Every little girl dreams of being a Princess, she just wanted her Mommy and for the boys to stop making her do "stuff" to "satisfy" them.

Finding Anna is a gripping first-hand account of a child who survives the horror of sexual abuse and abandonment by those tasked to care for her, in a society that turns a blind eye to sexual abuse.

A love-child, unwittingly passed on from one caretaker to the next, eventually ends up being abandoned and left in the care of her philandering father’s family. She discovers the painful reality that life can be cruel.

Trish, a child struggles to understand why she was abandoned by her own mother and tries to deal with the trauma of being sexually abused by various family members.

Can Trish, now an adult heal from the pain of a childhood, tormented by the rape of her mind, body and soul?

"Finding Anna is a story that exposes the stark, ugly truths about being abused and abandoned. Child sexual abuse is a social issue that chooses no race, religion, culture and gender, and those who are lucky to survive it carry the welts and wounds deep into their souls for a lifetime.

My country in South East Asia has one of the highest child sexual abuse cases. Unfortunately, the government is doing little to raise awareness and create child protection programs to safeguard children from predators. My goal is to reach as many readers as possible and inspire survivors to come out in the open and advocate against child sexual abuse."

Author of Finding Anna: A True Story of Child Sexual Abuse
Anti-Child Abuse Advocate | Child Sexual Abuse Survivor

I have always known I will publish my first book before I turned 40, but I didn’t know that it would evolve into a silent advocacy against child sexual abuse. My debut release, Finding Anna, was an unplanned creative project that grew on its own as my journey to getting published drew near. Today, aside from being a self-published author, I’m also partnering with other individuals and organizations that help survivors find peace and healing from the abuse they suffered.

Finding Anna: A True Story of Child Sexual Abuse is now available on all online bookstores (Amazon, Smashwords, Barnes&Noble, iTunes, Sony and more)

A very sad, but inspirational story of a survivor of child abuse. It takes a lot of courage for someone to open up themselves this way to help bring awareness to a very dark and often overlooked subject. The author deserves credit for revealing her tragic past in order to tackle this heartbreaking subject matter. Her story is one that can inspire other abuse survivors to not only live with what has happened to them, but to also heal. This is a really well-written and moving book that I highly recommend.

I completely understand when the author says "If your own mother can't love you, than no one can." I say that all the time. SHe has great courage and strength. More strength than I have. Being raped or sexually abused, changes the person you were supposed to be. I truly believe that and say that all the time, but it does not always have to be a bad thing. The author does struggle, but fights everyday to get through all that she has been through.

I'm a survivor. And I say this with so much pride I could burst into a million tiny pieces at your feet.

There are a lot of topics that I usually avoid when reading books, but I was compelled to read this one. It's a survivor story, and it is an important story that deserves to be read.
My take on the world is that it was created to be explored and enjoyed. I would love to see the magnificent beauty of the Alps, experience the sun in Tuscany, embrace the quiet life in Sicily, cruise along the narrow roads of Monaco and discover my ancient roots in Israel.

In all honesty, the story line is blatantly honest that it broke my heart to pieces while reading about the abuse that happened to a 5-year-old child. It confronted me in ways that I could never imagine. She learned about birthdays when she was 6. She's never had one before that. The people who were supposed to shield and protect her were the ones who did her harm.

For someone who grew up in a good family like me, it's a shock to learn about stories like this. Although the story was difficult to finish, I had to. It was a short story that made a mark in me. It was compelling enough to keep me glued. The author, Trish Kaye Lleone, deserves an applause for being a survivor, and for being so brave to share her story to all of us.

Beautifully written and touching book about a girl who has gone through hell and back.

It's emotionally hard to read at times but very necessary to finish.

It brings you through Trish's life of sorrow, but of healing.

A great addition.

A great memoir.

A wonderful debut story. Heartfelt and at times difficult to read due to the content. May it serve as a voice to fellow abuse victims that they are never alone and in turn raise awareness to a rising darkness in the world.

This book was decent. It was a very quick read and could have been more to the story. I felt like it was very rushed and not in detail, although there was some parts that didn't need to be put into detail since they were disturbing but regardless it was very rushed. It wasn't bad though. It was just hard to get a feel for the personality of the character. She is hard to get to know.

However, I like books like this because it really helps you to understand situations like this especially as a person gets older and why they act the way they do. Even though you may not know these things happen to a person, their actions come out so being patient with people is always key and everybody should be treated with respect and people need to be sympathetic to that everybody has bad days no matter what.

Finding Anna is Trish Kaye Lleone's story of not only child sexual abuse, but child abuse as well. Without giving too much of the storyplot, Anna is the mother of the story who leaves her daughter so she can focus on her life while her daughter ends up on the path of self-destruction. Of course, being sexually abuse was added to the equation.

This was a short, but very compelling story of what can happen when a child is left abandoned. And I applaud Trish Kaye Lleone for sounding the alarm for those who are afraid to speak about their abuse (which I am also an abuse survivor). Great read!

You write from the heart, so beautifully; some moments I found troublesome to read because of the "extreme" that you are undergoing..
