Since losing his wife, Derrick hadn’t been interested in another relationship. But he was growing bored playing with a different sub each weekend. He needed something more.
On the run from an abusive husband, the last thing Jacey wanted was a man. Yet, there was something about Derrick that drew her in, that made her imagine impossible things…
Laylah loves reading, but she particularly loves a good romance with some seriously alpha men. Protective, possessive men with large hearts. Writing has become her passion and she hopes her readers enjoy her stories as much as she does writing them.
3.5 ⭐️ This book had a good storyline, though not very original and was not too intense in the BDSM and D/s activity so I really enjoyed it. Jacey was running away from an abusive ex husband and meets Derrick, a Wealthy Dom who has been getting a bit bored at the BDSM club recently. They meet at the scene of an accident where they are both witnesses and go to a diner afterward.
I like this because it seems like a lot of the BDSM I have read before have women coming straight from abusive or even rape situations and then right away seem to be fine with a Dom whipping them or something similar. In this book, she is very reluctant to trust, and won’t agree to anything like that. It takes her a while to agree to a sexy spanking.
The romance between the two main characters is very hot and the D/s parts are steamy. The story about her ex and his brother is good as well though that has been done before.
This book has been in my library for a while now,and since reading more of Laylah’s other series,i was reminded i still needed to read it. It’s written in the same style as her other books, but i díd notice more typos. Maybe because it’s an earlier book.....i’m not sure, but her editing hás improved since.
Jacey is on the run, doing her very best to hide from her abusive husband. Derrick is bored with the subs at club Decadence, none of them touch that nerve inside to make him feel.....more. When he meets Jacey for the first time,it’s at a car accident, and somehow she dóes touch that nerve. She looks lost, scared and vulnerable, and he feels an instant need to take care of her. Not that she gives him a chance to....
After that,Jacey is on his mind constantly, and he will not rest until he’s found her. When he finally does, she is ill and he takes her to a hospital. Finding out she’s pregnant makes him decide to take her home and make sure she’s well taken care of. She’s reluctant to open up about her story, but little by little he learns more. And what he learns isn’t good...
Will Lacey learn to trust Derrick in time to allow him to help her? Really help her,as in save her from her abusive husband and his evil brother?
This was an entertaining read, with a little spice,a sweet romance, and a splash of danger.
This was my least favorite of the series so far. That said I still found it really enjoyable. I am whipping through these books. The make for quick and enjoyable reading.
After reading To Save Sir I decided to give this series a try. As a first book Just For You, Sir isn't anything special but it has it's merits. it's cute and sweet and gives you hope for humanity. My main problems were the badly done editing and the flatness of some of the scenes, especially the sex scenes. Other than that it's a good book to get lost in.
From the beginning, the reader’s heartstrings are pulled when they realize that one of the main characters, Jacey, is homeless and running from her ex husband. Meeting Derrick was like an angel sent from Heaven.
It should be easy to allow someone that is rich to care for your every need, but Jacey just can’t seem to allow this to happen to her. Even when she was having to survive on menial jobs and living in shelters (when available), this opportunity put in front of her scares her. Will this be all that she is looking for? Will she find her happily ever after in Derrick? Will she allow her every wish and dream to come true?
Doms of Decadence is a series that looks like it will have everything a reader will want in it. You’re on the edge of your seat one minute, and all hot and bothered the next. A great beginning to a series that looks like it will take off quickly!! Well done, Ms. Roberts!
Derrick helps homeless Jacey when she's on the run from her abusive husband. This is a standalone in terms of the couple; characters from Ms. Roberts' other series do appear and some of Derrick's dom friends will soon get their own books.
If you've never read a Laylah Roberts book before, this one contains all her usual strengths: a likeable MC whose HEA you root for; an H laser-focused on his h; and an h in desperate circumstances that force her to depend on the H. Other reviewers note that the sex/BDSM scenes were pretty bland. I can see that; that said, Jacey is pregnant as well as traumatized from the abuse she suffered at the hands of her husband.
This also contains all her usual weaknesses: non-descriptive prose (I can't tell you what anything or anyone looked like); no transitions between chapters; plot holes (; OTT action towards the end; and an abrupt ending that leaves us with a lot of unanswered questions (.
3 stars. It's pleasant, but instantly forgettable. I could have done without this author's offensive treatment of the homeless: she's very invested in the "good" poor and the "bad" poor; reading this during a pandemic when people have lost their jobs just makes this aspect of many of her books even more unpleasant.
3.75 stars for this well written BDSM Romantic Suspense
Overall I enjoyed Jacey and Derricks story, the suspense was very well written, the pace was good and the characters were likeable. I would have liked more BDSM scenes we only ever get to see the club in the opening chapter, and it was a fairly small glimpse.
I liked the 'meatiness' of the story, it had plenty to hold your attention and make this a good book. It felt a little too insta-love for my personal preference, so I didn't totally engage with/believe in their love. I did however totally believe in their sexual chemistry - which at times is super hot!
It is a book I would recommend as it is an enjoyable read - and I'm fairly certain this one is a permanent freebie too. For me it wasn't a book that I'd read again, and it didn't make a lasting impact but I would continue the series and at no point did I consider making it a DNF.
There was a lot of BS that just wasn't my jam going on. But - the worse, for me - was the lack of information.
The ending has a named character (hero's sister) and her husband kidnapped. The FMC is given the impression that the husband was murdered. The FMC *hopes* the hero's sister has been rescued but there's no on page confirmation.
AND THEY ARE NEVER MENTIONED AGAIN! Is the hero's sister's husband dead?? Was the hero's sister rescued?? FFS!
Nice story, likable characters, but little rough around the edges. I did spot several typos and errors, that with thorough editing could have been avoided. Still, a nice read and a series with potential.
Running from a seriously abusive husband, Jacey is homeless but not helpless. She meets Derrick at when they both witness an accident, and he's intrigued by her. When Jacey gets sick, Derrick takes care of her and they fall in love, but her husband isn't willing to let go that easily.
Dom Derrick has become bored with the BDSM scene and seems to be looking for a deeper connection when he meets Jacey. She's not looking for any connection and doesn't want anyone's help, but when she gets sick, she has no choice.
Stories where one character has a lot more power than the other one (in a non-BDSM way) can be tricky, since Derrick's wealth could make Lacey feel indebted to him, but his kindness and compassion and total unwillingness to do anything she doesn't want him to do makes him a really great guy and the perfect man for a traumatized woman.
A tale full of twists and turns, a gripping storyline full of revenge, betrayal, secrets and lies. An erotic romance with some BDSM elements. Fraud and murder within the State Attorney office. A compelling sensual story of Book 1 in the Dom’s of Decadence series that will keep you happy in this short but wonderful read by the best of the best in this genre Laylah Roberts. One I will highly recommend and deserves the 5 stars ⭐️ given! Give me a Dom as perfect as Derrick Ashdown any time, who is perfect for the wonderful character of the sweet, caring protective Jacey. Why does Jacey not want to be recognised, homeless and living on the streets? Why is the psychotic stepbrother of Jacey’s ex trying to find her and can Derrick protect Jacey?
This was not bad, but not entirely good either… so basically okay.
In chapter one, we are introduced to the hero Derrick when he is the Dominant in a scene at a club. Then, scene over, he settles the sub, whose name I forget, and two or three other Doms are introduced as he expresses his concerns about her being pale and tired. Then there’s another sub, who is also pale and tired and troubled, and then he takes the first sub (I think) home, and is concerned about her living conditions. So far, so good.
Then he meets Jacey when they both witness a car accident… and from there on in, the club, the other Doms we’ve just ‘met’, and the wan subs Derrick was so concerned about, are never mentioned again for the rest of the book. Meanwhile Jacey is on the run from an abusive relationship, and pregnant, and homeless, and also very pale and thin and in need of Derrick’s particular Dom propensity for caring. There follows tension and drama as the evil ex looks for her etc. etc., with the introduction of more characters, and several more attractive and uncompromising Doms, who seem to be abundant in the part of Texas where the action happens. Derrick and Jacey’s story is complete in this volume, but, for me, it would have been improved if at least some reference was made to the characters who appear at the beginning. Presumably that happens in the next book of the series?
This book had absolutely everything in it: suspense, heartache, friendship, love and kink. Roberts!

A generous three stars. The editing and grammar need some work. It gets confusing when characters are interchangeable!
This books contains : Heroine on the run from husband Heroine using alias that seemed easy to trace back I.e mother maiden name if you are using an alias why have a connection to it? Pregnant heroine Insta love Mild D/s writing i.e. It seems to be dominant in certain moments. Resolution to drama off the pages - convenient or contrived? No confrontation with heroines parents which would have been good for her.
To be honest I'll be looking for the Hunter and Cady book before anything else!🙃
Overall the book was smooth and quick. Lots of elements missed out. Especially during the climaxes, the suspense and thrill was completely off the page. Almost felt like I was just reading it because I have to. Didn't make me feel even little suspense. Curious, a little though, very very little. So thought the book had potential to attract, it just felt like it was missing something, and at the end parts, it felt like the author just wanted to finish the book off at once.
Story line was great, but nothing too deep, never too deep to pull me into it. Plain read actually.
“Derrick, please,” she cried. “Tell me how that feels,” he demanded. “Good.” He chuckled. “You’ll have to do better than that if you want to come.” She groaned in protest. “I can’t.” “Yes, you can. Open up to me, Jacey. How do you feel? What do you like? Do you like having my finger inside you?”
JESUS HER WRITING IS EXCEPTIONAL
like every others book of her that I read 5 fucking hot stars
Have to admit the story shocked me. I didn't see it going the way it did, but I loved it......I liked how Derrick was so protective over Jacey just from the first time they met. Any woman would want a man to treat them that way. He carried her everywhere!!! Just loved the compassion from him. Can't wait to read book #2......Hunter and Cady's story!!!!
You fire your editor and proofreaders. I liked the idea of the story but it is hard to stay engaged when characters are mixed up, there are several incomplete sentences and numerous grammatical errors. Shame when a good story with interesting characters is ruined by bad editing.
Derrick Ashdown, wealthy business owner, was bored with finding a new submissive every weekend to play with. But, he also hadn’t been interested in another relationship since his wife dies almost twenty years ago. From the moment he ran into Jacey at the scene of an accident, both his protective instincts and his attraction went into hyper drive. He wanted her, and for more than a night.
Jacey Reynolds was a woman on the run. After escaping her abusive husband, she has nowhere to turn but the streets. Using her real name or even her social security number to find a job will let him find her and put the both her life and that of her unborn child at risk. The last thing she needs is a man . . . and a dominant one at that, but there is something about Derrick that has her feeling safe even when she knows she may never be safe again.
While things heat up between Derrick and Jacey, her ex is out for revenge and plans to take Jacey out along with anyone in his way. It will be up to Derrick to convince Jacey that not only is she safe, but that he needs her to stay in his life . . . forever.
I have to say that the chemistry between Derrick and Jacey was smoking hot. They both seemed to provide what the other was lacking in their lives exactly at the right time.
Derrick is super dominant and protective. He’s a fixer and a caretaker and wants nothing more than to take care of all of Jacey’s problems as well as her and the baby. Jacey, while submissive, is an extremely strong woman who also needs her independence. She’s escaped from a complete psycho of an ex and has done what she needed to in order to survive. Watching them learn to navigate and trust one another was enjoyable and some of the intimate scenes were smokin’ hot.
Jacey’s ex provides a phenomenal element of suspense. He and his even crazier brother want revenge on Jacey for running and will do just about anything to get it which leads to some fantastic drama and edge of your seat excitement.
This was a solid start to this series and I know I will be reading on. 4 stars.
I enjoyed this first book in a series, but not a series as can be read as stand alone. The book is an easy read and I love the style of the writer as it’s certainly easy reading and easy to loose yourself within the book. I’m not great at punctuation, and grammar, but there are a few errors within this book. This book starts off with Jacey on the street, pregnant and running from her abusive high powered husband. She meets Derrick, after witnessing a car accident, and he’s totally smitten from the outset. I loved the developing relationship, how he chases after her, finds her homeless and on the bones of her arse. He’s wealthy, as they always are, and how we dream. He finds out her pregnancy, and this is not an issue. I loved later in the book, when Jacey’s husband manages to track her down and with his psycho brother Evan, that two chapters Hunter and Jaceys friend are introduced. You can tell from the interaction between this pair that they are going to be a book in the future, great link, loved it. I must admit that I was disappointed by the end, we don’t get to find out what Jacey has and do they get married. I liked her husband takes his own life, but again, I’m assuming these unanswered questions could be answered in the series, but this does push you to read the next book, her ex could have been imprisioned and re appeared in another book if this was the case?… would have made a change from the bad guy always dying in one way or another. But I will be reading the next in the series, just would like a bit of a change, so coming back later for the rest...definitely will be returning.

This book, Just for you, Sir, tho entertaining, follows your typical BDSM storyline; an abused woman is taken in by a Dom, who teaches her how to submit and protects her from the bad man chasing her. The dialogue is your typical, "Disobey me, and get punished." With that being said, let's talk about the Hero.
We are not informed of what Derrick does for work until the book is nearly finished, only that he is very rich; he develops resorts. Though he is very protective over the heroine, at times he is very over baring; he was wanting to take her to the ER because she stubbed her toes? Also, he places baby monitors in her room in order to keep an eye on her and carries her around because she may faint? There's being protective and then there is hovering and overstepping. Now the Heroine
There isn't much I can say about her other than she goes from being a timid scared girl, unsure if she should go on a date with him, into a over sexed , easily controlled submissive; she had just fled an abusive Dom and yet she easily falls into the submissive role. And, of course she decides to slip from her protection and right into the hands of her ex instead of informing her security detail.
In the end, one of the bad men are felt with while the other, I assume, is missing after being shot and falling into a river. My guess, he will be the antagonist in an upcoming book; we are never informed of his whereabouts by the end.
Will I read the follow books; yes because as books go, it was decent and the spicy scenes were as well.

Derrick feels tired of his life and the club just doesn’t give him the same pleasure it used to. Jacey is trying to survive after running from her abusive husband, staying in shelters and pregnant. Derrick and Jacey meet at the scene of an accident and Derrick feels his protective instincts about her. Derrick can’t get Jacey out of his mind and when he finds her convinces her to go to dinner with him, their chemistry is amazing, but Jacey knows that it can only be one night she has to much that she is hiding from and she finds out his is a Dom, with her ex being a Dom and abusing her she is terrified. Returning from his trip Derrick finds out that Jacey is homeless and determined to find her, when he find her sick, he looks after her and takes her home, when Jacey tries to leave to protect him, and because she can’t ever submit again, Derrick knows that something drew Jacey to the lifestyle and with time and her trust she will enjoy it again. With the realisation that Jacey’s ex has found her she knows she has to tell Derrick everything, when Derrick realises who her husband is, he knows that what that the less people who knew the less that would be in danger. With a plan in place, Derrick hopes it is enough to save Jacey and their baby.
Jacey is on the run from her abusive ex husband. She is homeless and pregnant and sees a car accident, when she meets Derrick. Derrick is rich, gorgeous, and a Dom. He asks her out but she is very wary of dominant men. They have a one night stand and she goes to the diner where she works. Derrick has business and is gone for several days. He returns to find out she was fired, lives in a shelter, and he can’t find her anywhere. When he does find her, she is really sick and he takes her to the hospital. He takes her to his house when she is released and promises to take care of her and her baby. But her ex will stop at nothing to get to her. Derrick loves her too much to lose her now. I liked the overall story but there were a lot of grammar errors and wrong names put in wrong places. Plus she was tied up, then says he released her hands and the next paragraph her wrists were bound. Totally confusing at times. I want to read the next one but am afraid the editing will be just as bad.
DNF; This reads like a really bad fanfic that was written by a teenager. I'm assuming the author tried to write Derrick as a sympathetic hero who goes out of his way to help and protect women but really he's just controlling, overbearing, and ignores boundaries. Buying your ex-SIL a car because you don't think her current car is safe enough, regardless of the fact that she has a job, her own money, and a husband who also has money, is not sweet. He just gets worse as the story goes on from trying to bribe a women's shelter worker into telling him if Jacy was there to disregarding Jacy's dislike of spanking after pushing her to tell him how her husband r*ped her. That's when I tapped out. This character is not a believable hero or even a flawed one, he's a caricature of a knight in shining armor who only cares about what they want.
This story had the potential to be exciting but fails on character roundness, story development, rationale, and believability.
