“Thoughtful and well-ordered introduction...twenty-five projects range from a sampler table runner to decorative screen panels...more than 100 stitch patterns....A mouth-watering ‘gotta try’ wealth of designs and information.”— Booklist. “Provides fairly easy projects. A good selection... on a topic of increasing interest.”— Library Journal.
Excellent book!! As opposed to the Kake-Jiku book this one was definitely more along the lines I was looking for. Very infoirmative in not only how to do the technique using a sewing machine...it also gave the history of the art fom 40-pages of stitch patterns but also projects and step by step instructions of how to use the and choose the best stich pattens for what you are trying to accomplish. This book was moved to my buy list for sure.
I don't use a machine for this lovely embroidery. I bought this book just for inspiration for my own hand-worked, hand-designed, fabrics. This book has so many lovely photographs on completed projects.
This book gives a good review of how Sashiko started. Then it has several projects which you can make to try out the patterns. It then has a huge dictionary of patterns which are divided into groups from simple to difficult to sew. An excellent resource!
Another sewing book I wouldn't mind having. Many beautiful designs and projects with good how-to's and color pictures. Also, the book contains the patterns for each design.
