Working my way through the Robertson books. This one is a little different. It's more of a values exercise book as related to parables in scripture. It's not what I expected, but still has some good information in it.
I enjoyed this book. I don't watch Duck Dynasty and really don't know the family, (I read the book and still have no idea who Korie is married to). I didn't find it to interfere with my understanding or enjoyment of the book. I did get a somewhat basic understanding of the family members mentioned, ( mostly in laws - FiL, MiL, brothers in law, an aunt and uncle, probably the authors husband though I can't recall him being pointed out). There were a few stories told about them that I am sure fans of the show would enjoy. What I enjoyed was that the stories told were relevant to the discussion going on in the book. Korie and Chrys told the parables and then discussed what they felt were the meanings and how they are still apply today. They gave me a fresh look at them and I did some underlining of points I really felt in tune with. At the end of the book are questions that you can personally answer or use as with a group for study purposes. I believe there is a DVD that you can also watch. I did not have the DVD so I don't know how it comes into play. I was able to answer questions just from the book. I would recommend the book to DD fans of course. I also think the book would benefit a variety of others. I don't feel you have to be a fan to read this book. I think there are some excellent points for parents that would help with keeping the family united and on track. I also believe people without children could benefit from the book with personal growth. In all honesty, there isn't anyone I wouldn't recommend the book to. I think we could all benefit from being a kinder, gentler and more forgiving people, regardless of what our religious beliefs are. Atheist probably would find fault with some of it but I believe even they would get some benefit from reading it if they read with an open mind. I purchased this book because I thought it looked interesting and it was way on sale! I'm very happy with my decision to buy.
This book was a great short read. In typical Duck Commander book fashion was a book of faith and family stories. I loved it. I recommend this book to all.
