Will it become a beautiful hard bound classic? Will it enthrall you with plot twists and turns? No. It will do neither. So why, do you ask (you didn’t, but it’s my review) would I give it 5 stars? It was delightful. I sat down and read this at a time I was missing our Golden Retriever Mickey and I was recovering from a surgery. I didn’t need prize winning, NY times bestsellers. I needed comfort food......good stories about people who loved their dogs and each feel that God took some special care on day 6 when He created them. It was like eating in Paris at the finest restaurants but coming home for mom’s Mac n’ cheese and peach cobbler. It was a smile and a happy tear over something that makes life good. It’s a reminder that pandemics and troubles in the world never change the core of a good dog. I miss ours so much!
I would have given this book a 3.5 if I could have. It was a good book with many heart-warming stories of the blessing dogs were to their owners. Perhaps I am a bit hard-hearted, but I probably would not have gone to the great trouble and expense that many of these owners went to in the medical treatment of their pets. I am also not a fan of humans referring to themselves as "Daddy" and "Mommy" to their dogs. Overall a good book, but I probably won't read it again.
Some stories will bring you to tears, especially one about a Westie named Mulligan. This book is very well edited with a good story by the editor. It has photos of dogs and short features as well a the stories.
Anyone who has ever loved a dog will enjoy this book. You’ll laugh, you’ll probably cry, and you might wonder how we got so lucky as to have the love of dogs. This is a beautiful collection of stories of various wonderful dogs
Cute and easy to read. A collection of short stories about dogs. Stories ranged from 2 pages to 8 pages at the most. Has quotes about dogs, dog movies, a dog treat recipe and doggy pictures. Some of my favorite stories were "Showing up at LJ Stables,"And you think your dog is smart?", "Ace, a companion extraordinaire." and "A dog and his boy". Only downfall was that it enforced my "dogs are better than cats" mentality.
Great short story collection about dogs that changed people's lives. Some stories werebetter written than others, but over all they were good stories. A few had me wiping tears from my eyes. My daughter will read this book next and two friends have requested to read it as well. I hope they all enjoy it as much as me. #GoodreadsGiveaway #GoodreadsFirstReads
Sweet stories. Some better than others. I am such an animal lover, that I don't want to read or see anything where the animal gets hurt or dies. Even though some of the stories go on to include the passing of their beloved pet, none of them made me cry. Definitely makes you want to hug and love on your furry child.
A 'okay' read ! I was expecting the stories to make me more laugh and smile , and touch me more .. But it wasn't the case! Im a total dog lover and i found that maybe she could have found better stories
Loved this book! Awesome stories of dogs and the unconditional love they share with us! Being a mom to two dogs helped me to relate to these stories. Dogs are such wonderful animals with beautiful souls!
This was a fun and easy book of short stories written by dog lovers. Some stories were better than others but, still, if you are a dog lover, this is a fun read.
