Rate this book
Amidst the sprawling American frontier, Charlotte "Lottie" Turner inherits not only her father's vast ranch and fortune, but also an ominous predicament following his sudden demise. Determined to break free from the stifling expectations of her small town, Lottie bravely places an ad for a mail-order groom, seeking a partner who appreciates her for the resilient woman she is, beyond the veil of inherited wealth.

Little does she know that the rugged terrain conceals shadows harboring a danger that could threaten not just her legacy, but the very fabric of her newfound independence...

Responding to Lottie's cryptic call, Will Harrison, a war-weary veteran with an enigmatic past, arrives with concealed motives. Tasked with solving the mystery of his missing brother, he infiltrates the frontier town through a marriage of convenience. However, fate guides him to Lottie's ranch, and an instant connection sparks, binding them in a journey that goes beyond the mystery he initially sought to unravel.

Will their intertwined secrets withstand the harsh challenges of the frontier, though?

As Lottie and Will navigate the challenges of their shared existence, an unexpected and genuine bond blossoms, defying the covert intentions that brought them together. Yet, as their love deepens with each passing day, a precarious revelation awaits in the shadows. Will they be able to confront the hidden perils that lurk in the untamed wilderness? Or will they let their tale become a riveting journey of survival into the allure of the unknown?

Lottie has had many struggles so far in her young life, her mother died when Lottie was born, and now Lottie is a fully grown woman, and her father has just died. She feels very alone and sad. She has spent her whole life working their ranch with her father, but now she must do it alone. There is a terrible family in town that is trying to get her ranch, by any means. Lottie decides to put in an ad for a mail order husband, so she can have some support. Will answers that ad. He was in the civil war and has an injured leg. He's been looking for his brother for years but has had no success. The last place he was seen was in Benson Texas, the same town Lottie has advertised for a mail order husband. He figures this is a good way for him to seek out his brother. Oh boy is he surprised when Lottie is beautiful, smart, and rich. They are attracted to each other immediately. This is a very good read, by Lilah Rivers. I read it in a day since I couldn't put it down.

Family and truth means everything

Great story where family means everything to one person, and truth means everything to another. Can they merger the two together.
Lottie's father has died, and to save the family ranch, she feels she must marry so that a certain person will leave her alone. She believes truth means everything, but she's not really fully truthful up front with Will when he answers her ad for a husband. He comes to the ranch knowing nothing about ranching. He wants to find his brother, who is in the area. So, neither is really truthful.
Things happen that make the story very interesting.
Great read and will draw you into the book as most of Ms. Rivers books do. I enjoyed the book and recommend it.

Love Triumphs

Loved this story. Lottie places an ad for a husband and Will replies. They marry, and start their life together. Troubles ensue, and misunderstandings, as well. In the end, all is well.

This book is really good, but I knocked off a star because of the many grammar and writing errors. It was distracting.

Awesome book

This story has everything in it to keep you reading. Outlaws, cowboys, with some danger and a little love thrown it. Estranged brothers find each other in a rather circumstance. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did.

Family. In the end, it’s the most important, next to God.

Another page turner of a book. Will and Lottie helped each other thru grief and loss and grew inseparable as they faced life’s trials together. Loved the ending to this story.

This was a great story about Will looking for his brother James. He answered an ad for a mail order husband in Benson, the same place he received a letter from his brother. Enjoy their finding each other

A good story

Lottie had made some tough decisions. She had a lot of faith in God to take the steps forward that she took. The story was interesting. I look forward to reading more of Lilah Rivers' books.
