Broken Stars by Tasche Laine is a well-written, fast-paced, heartfelt story about a love, life, family, and friends. Great series. I can't wait for the next book!
First, I want to thank Tasche Laine and Sky Blue Press for providing me with the book so I may bring you this review.
YES!! Tasche Laine is back with her third installment of her Young Adult Chronicle of V series with Broken Stars. Broken Stars is fast paced, addictive, one sitting read, that is pact with emotional highs and lows. It is one book you should put on your TBR list.
Tasche would like to dedicate this book to her Mother. Her loss at a young age deeply touched her heart.
My suggestion is if you have not read Tasche’s prior books in the series that you do that before reading this book. This way you will get the full back story of the characters and the storylines.
Broken Stars may be a fast read but it is jam packed with life changing and uttering events for many of the characters. Not to mention very important messages as well. Tasche definitely takes you on an emotion filled rollercoaster ride.
Overall this is a great series and should be put on your must read tbr list.
This book is the 3rd book in the Chronicles of V series and it's a roller coaster of emotions. V is going through so many challenges at the same time and on top of it all, she is still determined to crack a cheating scandal at her school after seeing suspicious SAT scores from her classmates. V doesn't let anything get in her way and works to find the truth with the help of her best friend, Emma. The story is packed full of emotions, suspense, heartbreak, and love. I thoroughly enjoyed the journey the book took me on. I felt like I was a friend of V's and a part of her world as I was reading. She is such a relatable character, even though she is very brave and tough, she still experiences heartbreak, jealousy and doubt. It's a beautiful coming of age story that will captivate readers and keep you invested and intrigued until the end. I can't wait for the next book!
This series of books is right up my alley! I love the mystery, romance, friendship, and family aspects of each story. This one focuses more on V’s personal life than any potential crime, but the sleuthing teen detective we know and love is still there finding a case to solve and bringing justice to town.
V has a lot to deal with in her family, so it makes sense that she uses detective work as a distraction. The multiple storylines are easy to follow and keep the reader on their toes. Overall, this book represents the hardships that come with life, not just for teenagers but for people of any age. You’ll come to love and care for the characters more and more in each book, which only makes the story that much more emotional and powerful. I can’t wait for the next one!
This is such a great book and I love this series! As V goes through ups and downs, I find myself staying up late, reading chapter after chapter to see how she responds. There are so many good life lessons about love, courage, vulnerability, family, and more. The challenges these characters face are so relatable and remind us that we’re not alone. Tasche Laine has a special way of making the pages come to life through vivid descriptions and a roller coaster of emotions. Can’t wait for the next book!
I know people have mixed feelings about authors rating their own books, but doing so can be seen as an act of confidence in their work and a way to initiate engagement with potential readers. By rating their own books, authors are standing behind their months or years of hard work, dedication, and creative passion. This act can also serve as a conversation starter, inviting readers to see what the author is so proud of and perhaps understand the book from its creator's perspective. It's a transparent acknowledgment of believing in one's own craft and inviting others to share in that belief.
I'm passionate about helping teens cope with grief and loss through my books, focusing on offering coping tools and providing hope through my storytelling. My goal is to create a safe space within the pages of my books for teens to explore their feelings, learn from characters navigating similar challenges, and find solace in the shared human experience of loss and recovery. I believe in the transformative power of stories to heal, to build resilience in the face of adversity. Ultimately, I want to contribute to a greater understanding of grief as a part of life, encouraging a compassionate dialogue around it and promoting a supportive community for those in mourning. You are not alone.
The start of the new high school year seems so full of promise for series main character, V. She's blissfully happy thanks to her relationship with her boyfriend, Zack, and her mom's return to teaching after battling cancer.
But dark clouds gather as the year progresses, and challenges soon emerge. True to form, she dives into another investigation, this time involving SAT exam cheating. Aided by best friend Emma, V sets out to discover who is behind what transpires to be a full-blown scandal.
I won't spoil the story, but will say I was once again impressed with Laine's ability to portray real life in telling, and touching, detail. Whether it's the ups and downs of high school life, or confronting a serious illness, the author approaches the topic with truism and sensitivity. Young adults in particular should enjoy this latest book in the series, with more to come.
V. is back again. And this time she finds herself at the crossroads of adolescence. Her mother’s cancer is back and V. can’t hide away. She’s forced to face her fear of loss even if she doesn’t want it. Because her mum is a teacher at her school there’s no way to hide. And if that wasn’t enough V. goes through her first heartbreak. The pain, confusion, anger, and vulnerability of this situation are beautifully captured by the author. And on top of it, V. stumbles on the mystery of the sudden and unusually high SAT scores among unexpected students. She promised herself to solve this puzzle no matter what. Will it get her into trouble again? Well, you need to read it to find out. I would highly recommend it.
Broken Stars, Book 3 of the Chronicles of V series, will keep you on your toes and make you feel a whirlwind of emotions. At first, our favourite teen detective is having a fantastic high school year. She has an amazing boyfriend, a great best friend and a new car. But V’s perfect year takes a turn for the worse. Her mother’s health diagnosis shakes V up and adds fear to her world, plus she is threatened when she gets too close to solving a new mystery that’s lurking around in school. What will V do? The author’s descriptive writing is impressive. While reading, I felt the various emotions that V was going through right there with her. If you’re a fan of YA, you will love this book. Actually, you will love the whole series. Highly recommended!
This books is nothing short of brilliant. Author, Tasche Laine’s writing is outstanding, raw, heartfelt, and relatable. She has a true gift for the written word. Readers follow along as main character, V navigates through throes of adolescence. From experiencing her first love, managing friendships, loyalty, to the heart ache of the return of her mother’s cancer, V is engulfed in a world of turmoil. On top of it all she is on a mission to solve a new mystery of academic scandal.
This book is so well written, I didn’t want to put it down and I didn’t want it to end. I just wanted more. Readers will go through the whole spectrum of emotions reading this book. It’s a new favorite of mine. You will not be disappointed and hope there’s a fourth book in the series like I do!
I was looking forward to continuing the story through V's high school years and this book did not disappoint. I love how the author has distinct, believable characters. This book again has a mystery for V to solve, but more focus was spent on her relationships with Zach and Emma. As V's mom faces more distressing news regarding her cancer, the reader is also pulled into the powerful emotions felt by the family as they cope. I recommend this as a great YA book.
I was excited to read the latest book in this series. So well written and filled with intrigue and heartbreaking drama. I definitely cried a lot! But it’s well worth every tear.
I was privileged to alpha read this book and somehow managed to keep my thoughts to myself until now. It’s time to shout from the rooftops.
V is a character I’ve watched grow up on the pages of these books. Now she’s facing first love - the love you never forget - and think will last forever. It’s an innocent and clean romance, suitable for any age.
V feels helpless as family drama consumes her days and wrestles her nights. No spoilers here, but it will leave you hoping for the best as V is let in on the truth.
In case that’s not enough to hold your attention, there’s another layer of mystery going on at school. V finds herself threatened more than once. Will she back down? No, not V. Her perfect year hasn’t turned out so wonderful after all.
Though these books are stand-alones, I’d recommend reading from book one. Why? Because you’ll fall in love with V and go back to read them anyway - might as well read them in order…
