This has great reviews, and I can be a sucker for an evil sister, so I jumped right in.

Marcello is the adopted son of a mafia family. He has psychopathic tendencies but loves his family greatly. It didn’t sound like he’s been that into girls (he was abused as a young child), but he knows at first glance that Samirah is the woman for him. Samirah is the unwanted daughter of a truly terrible family.

The book opens with Sam walking in on her boyfriend (Alex) having sex with her evil slutty sister (Cassidy). She storms out only to be picked up by human traffickers. (This part overlaps with the first book) Shit happens (she’s not hurt) and Marcello rescues her quickly coming obsessed. The rest is Marcello going to INSANE lengths to manipulate her life, so they end up together.

I liked both main characters. Marcello has an almost childish side to him that I found fictionally endearing. I loved him loving his pet rats and baby seedlings. He was nuts.

Bottom Line- I’m not really sure how to rate this. It wasn’t great, but it wasn’t terrible. It’s so OTT and some parts are super cheesy bordering on cringe. It’s not romantic at all or really serious.

This guy was all sorts of over the top in all the area. He tattooed her back while she was unconscious, heavy breeding kink, somnophilia at its best so he could get her pregnant as soon as possible, chained her to his bed so she couldn't escape him, and will kill both of them if she tries to leave him 🙂

See amazing TROPES!? But very poorly executed, writing was so cringe that I was on the verge puking! Also as usual the heroine is "pure & virgin" 😐🙄 and had no personality whatsoever!

I don't know if I missed some things! Because the Author has pretty much put every single thing I am FERAL about in this story!!!! And I was like a giggling baby who felt like she has got the real moon in her hands! Lol 😂 😂 anyways loved the story, it was CRAZY INTENSE and HOT at the same time! It has plot and Smut and of course MARCELLO 's OBSESSION AND CRAZINESS full of it...

Welcome back to delulu land

This book starts just at the end of book 1, it's not necessary to read book 1 BUT you would do yourself a disservice of missing the rest of the bat sh*t crazy and the laughs. Well worth the long wait for this book... idk what indie puts in her books to make the men so unhinged but absolutely adorable is beyond me. The amounts of times I sat here kicking my feet giggling like an idiot is too many to count. The banter between the MCs and the banter between all the side characters was the absolute best. The growth Samirah had throughout this book was excellent so happy she got her backbone and got what she deserved out of life. Oh Marcello... the way Indie captured his personality without going too overboard with it was top tier and his baby seedlings 😂. My heart broke for both of their backstories but I think Marcellos broke my heart just a tad more. So happy Aldo found him and gave him the love that he deserved and desperately needed. Also, truffles.. no need to say more 😂😂.

Omg red flag all the way !!
Marcello and his brother rescued his wife. They find lots of people their kids girls too. One girl made his soul shake. Samirah got kidnapped when she was running away from her ex. She found her sister and her boyfriend in bed. When she gets kidnapped she knows she in trouble . They make sure if she’s a virgin or not. Marcello makes sure she goes back home to her family. Not knowing the devil lies there. He can’t get her out of his mind. So he goes back and does some soul searching. What does he find. He can’t live without her. He needs her. He wants her. He takes her. He’s so obsessed with crazy. I love it. He kidnaps her and chains her too . Best part. She doesn’t know if she likes it or not. Does that make her crazy too. Super epic add on to this series.

Good effort

I enjoyed the first book and was looking forward to this one.
I had a harder time liking the characters.
Marcello, a psychopath was very one dimensional. While I understand how this may work with his character, there was parts where it literally reminded me of dialogues along the line of “me Tarzan. You Jane”.
The heroine with her complex background, was also relatively one dimensional. Dude, you are an adult, you recognise the situation is toxic, you really can’t remove yourself and fly away?
There were no friends and nothing really tying you down.
So the plot in general felt a little “forced” to me.
The tropes were all there, but the plot was “made to fit”.
I managed to read through, with a bit of skimming…

Marcello was sent to rescue his boss's woman. She had been kidnapped and it was fairly straight forward to rescue the rest of the victims and send them to be cared for. What he did not plan was to have a protective woman named Samirah going head to toe with him while clearly terrorized with happened to her. Marcello takes a protective stance where Samirah is concerned, protector turned stalker and when he witnesses her families treatment of her, he takes her.

Samirah has always been treated like dirt with her family. Her dad's constant cheating and her mothers disdain for her, throw in her sister who does everything to make Samirah feel lesser than and she is desperate to get out. Being kidnapped, rescued, and dropped off back at home is not ideal but she is trying to save to get out of their. Then she is taken again by Marcello. She should not fall for her captor but there is a sweet side to Marcello that only she sees. Can she trust the dangerous man who is intent to keep her?

I liked aspects of this but this was pretty dark for me on some of the sexual aspects of the story. I am curious about the previous book so will be checking it out.

Wooooooowww! This is one example of a truly OTT, falls first and hardest, J/P, tiny bit psycho H.

SPOILERS - somnophilia, drugging h, breeding kink, unknown gps chip insertion, forced pregnancy, refusal of birth control, injection of fertility drugs, etc.

H is 2nd in command in mafia family, he becomes obsessed with h and manipulates her life so that he can own her mind, body, heart and soul. And he is successful.

OW (sister of h) tries unsuccessfully to flirt and touch H. H shuts her down fast and hard.

h is victim human trafficking (SPOILER - it's her family who arrange for it to happen) who is rescued by the H.

All in all, entertaining.

I got this book early and I’m madly in love with it. Marcello saw Gio’s unhinged traits and said “challenge accepted, hold my beer.” He’s not psychotic but has psychotic tendencies… he knows this because he got tested for it.

He’s creative and well thought out before he begins his torture and honestly the humor he uses during it is hilarious. I cackled like crazed person.

I absolutely adored his personality and how so unapologetic he was. He was instantly obsessed with Samirah and used some over the top and extreme methods to keep her. I mean, literally turned her into the next Virgin Mary and didn’t give a fuck 🤣

And Samirah, although a tad hesitant in the beginning quickly accepted and embraced her new life because honestly her hero and then captor treated her a million times better than her own family. She was his queen and what a queen she became!

This is second book in Devious series by Indi Marie. This time it’s Marcello showing us his full scale of crazy, over the top and possessive. I absolutely loved this book. Full of humour but also heartbreaking and touching dark themes (please check the trigger warnings). We get to know what made Marcello who and how he is today. What I really loved is that Marcello knows who he is, he is not hiding or pretending to be someone different. Samirah didn’t stand a chance. Marcello fell for her fast and hard. For him it’s simple, she is his. She isn’t so quickly convinced. I don’t want to spoil the plot for you. But there is a lot happening, twists in plot and hotness. So much hotness. Enjoy!

I absolutely loved the first book in this series and was excited to read this one. Unfortunately, it didn't hit the same way for me as the first book and that's okay, different tropes and characters work for different people. I'm sure this says something about how much dark romance I read or where my morality meter is but my issue is that Marcello was IMO too easy on Sam. I know, I know, this is completely different from what most reviews say and I get if you don't regularly read dark romance stalker/kidnapping books, you'd think I'm crazy and you're probably right, but hear me out. Unlike Everly, Sam had the self-preservation skills of a sea cow with twice the baseless confidence. She managed to be an annoying combination of completely useless, yet willful. She kept throwing her weight around like she actually had big girls pants on and Marcello humored her...to her own detriment. She knew how big of a deal it was she lied to him the first time and kept harping on and on about trust and respect and her dumbass does the same exact thing again while also endangering herself. Marcello didn't even get mad at her for it when it was 10000x her fault. But also, what was he thinking? There is never a good reason that she should refuse to bring a guard, that was a gigantic Texas sized used car lot flag! Protecting your woman from herself 101, yo! Get with the program Marcello! 😂 The tropes were great and the pieces were all there, but the characters and the story was a little too one dimensional. They didn't seem to have any real chemistry unlike Gio and Everly. I did however like the time when she tried to sneak the plan B after giving this big speak about how he "had" to trust her and then he caught her in the middle of her lie and locked her ass down! 😂 Then she had the audacity to think "we'll just talk tomorrow about compromise and communication so we can make this work" and his ass is like "She needs to know who's boss! Imma kill her brother and her ex, drug her, fuck her, inseminate her, give her more fertility drugs, tattoo a gigantic ass bird cage on her back, chain her back up and give her jizz earrings, how bout dat?" 😂😂😂😂 Yeah okay, go off about your communication and compromise now. Overall, there were some enjoyable, fun things about this book, but it just wasn't quite what I was looking for. I really don't want to rate it because I love this author and don't want to pull down her rating just because it wasn't my cup of tea this time.

4 stars for our deranged stalker hero who has pet rats and a habit of killing people 🔪🔪🔪 Marcello carried this book. The man ain’t right in the head one bit 😂😂😂 and I loved that Samirah could acknowledge his duality of psychopathic traits but also child like language at times. They honestly seemed really well matched.

Samirah gets sold into human trafficking and is traumatized to hell. Prior to that she walks in on her man shagging her sister 🫠 she’s also the product of an affair and has only experienced resentment at the hands of her family. She is rescued by her future stalker though, Marcello. The main killer for the local mob, also fully deranged human who has a rat named Truffles that he dresses up in tutus 😂

I liked the overall plot line of Marcello trying to control every aspect to tie Samirah to him. I liked that both were imperfect and struggled in their own regard. The plot itself was truly enjoyable 🤌🏼🤌🏼 and I felt like Samirah fought against the stalking enough to be believable without being outright annoying 👏🏼👏🏼

Pacing was really well done until the end, which did drag out the deaths of Samirah’s family members quite a bit 😬

Samirah is smart. She examines ethics a lot and what it means to be a bad person. Her own family tried to sell her into the flesh trade but are considered “good” people, but the mafia who’s been nothing but good to her are bad? She truly is observant and insightful 🫰🏼


What I didn’t like:
The dialogue was cringeeee at times. 😬
The writing style wasn’t the best but honestly I still loved the book 👏🏼

Marcello is the second book in this series of standalones, and he did not disappoint! He was everything I thought he'd be, and more.

I just want to say, one of my favorite things about the MFCs Indie writes is that they don't fight the MMC the whole book. They might have a little battle within themselves, and they might have some reserves, but they aren't mean. You get to actually see the relationship in Indie's books, and I love that.

Sam was an amazing MFC. I adored her! She definitely had her share of trials and tribulations, and let me tell you, it was a lot. You couldn't help but feel bad for her. To have people do what they did to her was unforgivable, but it showed how strong and resilient she was when she came back kicking.

Marcello, our MMC was fire! He was a dream! He was also a stalker, un-aliver, kidnapper, father of rats, and so much more. But he wasn't a bad guy, just a little unhinged. He also said he's never fall in love. You know what they say about those who say they'll never fall in love? They fall the hardest! I loved how he treated Sam after her ordeal, and how he helped her with her self-esteem. He was so kind, caring, patient and loving. He was the pinnacle in Sam getting her power back.

Marcello had a dark past and when that came out it made the connection between them stronger. He had it rough, and thanks to Aldo (Gio's dad), he was finally able to have a family who cared and loved him. I liked seeing how playful the brothers were with each other. I will never look at a mason jar or a Mr. Potato head without thinking of them ever again! Marcello knew his family was great and wanted nothing more than to have Sam be apart of it. He knew they'd always love and protect her.

Overall I think was a fantastic book by Indie Marie and will definitely read everything she puts out. I really like her writing style and how she developed the characters. You feel the emotion as you read and the flow great as well. This is one book I will be re reading over and over again.

I am completely in love with Marcello and I want to give Samirah a big hug. Cello is everything and the way he takes over Samirah's life is completely and totally over the top. If you thought Gio was too much, turn back now because you are not prepared for Marcello. Oh this man, this man makes Gio look like a choir boy! He is playfully vicious and ravenously protective of his girl and his family. The banter between him and Gio is absolutely darling as well as the indulgent affection from their parents is so sweet. It balanced out the horrors that Cello and his hummingbird endured. I absolutely adored his unapologetic and single minded pursuit of his girl. Damaged from his horrible childhood, he doesn't think a relationship and such is for him. All that changes when he meets Samirah. Beaten down by her emotionally abusive family, she ends up in a horrible situation and Marcello saves her. Secrets come to light and as she spends more time with the big guy, she can't help but fall for him. She heals and flourishes under his love and attention, becoming his true partner. His lovely family is a bonus and exactly what she needs and deserves. Please mind the triggers, there are some sensitive topics but IM handles them with great care and sensitivity. The glimpses into what they both have suffered made me love these characters even more. This is an incredible sequel and I cannot wait to see where this lovely author takes us next!

He’s crazy CRAZY but me very likey!!

What he did was so wrong but somehow felt so right to me lol, maybe I was biased.

Anyway, this was written very nicely, the storyline flowed really well with lots of interesting details and events, although you should probably check the TWs first before diving into it because some of the details were, I’d say, unsafe for some people.

The chemistry between Marcello and Samirah was good. I absolutely love unhinged morally grey MMC who’s obsessed with the FMC and FMC who’s basically a doormat at first but then slowly transforms into a baddie, that’s my catnip and this book served just right!

Now, while this book was dark and twisted and I was so loving it, it lacked of information about the mafia, at least ones that could explain more thoroughly about what exactly they did in their mafia gang/ organization, which played a huge part here but was portrayed very briefly and vaguely. So yeah, I definitely want to learn more about that area, maybe in future books in the series.

Overall, this was a really good read, smutty, dark and sarcastically funny but somehow at the same time so sweet and cute lol. I really enjoyed it and had a really great time here.

Incredibly enjoyable read! With a slightly unhinged, over the top possessive, and way past the morally grey line, MMC that you root for, hurt for, and fall in love with as he goes after the woman he’s falling for. It’s obsession with a little stalking, some unaliving, questionable gifts, and a few WTF moments that combine to give you a surprisingly sweet and so much fun to read romance!
Marcello has found an obsession in the form of Samirah, the woman he rescued from traffickers. His little hummingbird haunts him day and night and as his need for her increases he knows there are no limits or boundaries on what he will do to have her. Her home life is a wreck, her family nothing but people who use and abuse her, and he is intent on taking her away from that. She deserves to fly, and he can give her that, all he has to do is convince her that the stalking, the kidnapping, all of it was done in the name of love. Because now that he has her he’s never letting go.
One of my favorite kinds of dark reads, this book is just twisted enough you can’t help but think, wait am I into that? The answer, at least in a book, is pretty much always yes, and this book does it well. Marcello is bighearted and all in for Samirah and even the twisted stuff feels so obviously done with love that it’s hot and really kind of sweet. Lots of heroics, lots of moments where morally grey feels absolutely right, and a perfect for Marcello and Samirah HEA, make this a fantastic read.

This book was good, not as good as book 1 but I really did like it. It was a compelling story from beginning to end and well written.

I really felt like I connected with the character of Marcello. I liked that we were given his background, which gave his actions some context within the story. It was very moving and although the scene that portrayed what happened to him as a child was very difficult to read I considered skipping but ultimately was glad I didn't, for me personally. I cried for him and felt my heart ache for his feelings about his seedling and his family.

Ok as for Sam I'll start by saying that I did end up liking her by the end but for a lot of the book I found her frustrating. It isn't fair to compare her to Everly and I understand that the author cannot write characters that are clones of each other. I know this but I have to go with my preferences and reading experience of the book and I struggled with the heroine. I'm sure there are others who loved her throughout her journey and development. I can only go by my feelings which is why this book lost 1 star. I do have to add that she did really grow on me with her gift to Marcello at the end. I did tear up.

Terrible

If I could have given 0 stars, I would have. The writing is horrendous, the plot is non-existent, and the characters are so highly unbelievable that it makes you want to cringe.

I right the first in this series awhile back and I have to say I didn't like that either but I was willing to give the author another chance and see if her talent had progressed with some time and experience. It did not.

If you want to write a drak romance, you either need to make it quick and smutty or put the effort in and write an actual dark romance novel. If you can't write well, if you don't have the ability to completely encapsulate your audience, then any author is better off not trying.

I had to give up on this book halfway through, which is something I hate doing with any book, but I couldn't force myself to read such drivel. Nothing made sense. Nothing was thought out. Nothing was dealt with in any kind of respectful manner.

Don't torture yourself unless you can put up with writing that is generous to call mediocre. Honestly, it's mostly just bash your head against the wall horrible, but some people can enjoy that, and I'm not one to judge 😅

For me, though, I'll never attempt anything from this author again. I just can't.

I called it. Marcello was unhinged and bat💩 crazy.

Honestly, he was crazier than Gio.

I was a little disappointed because of the repetitive nature of the events involving Gio in this book, which felt like a rinse-and-repeat.

Poor Sam, her boyfriend, cheats on her with her own sister, and also, the brother is f--king trash, and the parents are POS.

Marcello had no trust in Sam. He knew all she had been through and didn't want to lose her. He needed her to see that he was utterly obsessed with her and just wanted her for himself.
He wanted her to be his wife and for them to have babies.

He doesn't play around. He literally unlives people that did her wrong.

He gives her a gift, and it's made out of his 💦💦💦💦 lol.

His pet rat, Truffles, wears a dress, and he walks it on a leash. It also loves human flesh. 🤢

I'm curious to read what she writes next.

Um, woooow. I had been looking forward to Marcello's book since reading Gio's. Expectations met and then some. Woah. This man is deliciously and delightfully unhinged. I swooned and I laughed so much throughout the whole book. Marcello is freaking perfect. He was completely obsessed with Samirah. Samirah gave him some fight and definitely gained self esteem and strength throughout as well. I loved her character growth. Marcello became her safe place. She found true love and a fiercely loving family. What she deserved her whole life. I absolutely loved seeing Marcello seek out vengeance on those who have hurt her so much. Her own family. This was dark, but for me it was good dark. Exquisite dark. As a new author I'm so I'm impressed with Indi's writing. Just from book one to two I see so much growth. I love this family and I saw an opening for Serena's book. 😍😍 Yes, please!

“Marcello’s Obsession” …. and what an appropriate title that is. Marcello is truly obsessed with his little hummingbird and is completely unapologetic about the lengths he’ll go to in order to make Samirah his. Absolutely no remorse. Poor Samirah didn’t stand a chance against his possessive and domineering ways despite trying to escape and evade them. However, Marcello is just the support she needs to be able to grow, gain confidence and embrace her true self. The reader is able to get a peep into Marcello’s past and understand why he is who he is. Nice to see his softer side too with the furry members of his family. I think “baby seedlings” is my new favourite phrase! I love the behaviour and banter between Marcello and Gio which brings a touch of humour to what is quite a dark book. Take note of the warnings if you have worries and concerns.

This is the 2nd installment in the devious collection. Gio was unapologetically unhinged and I fell hard for him. When I say Marc is over the top 🤣 oh, he perfect haha.

So our little Humming Bird Sam was taken and held for trafficking (you get story overlapping from book 1 and 2 during the first portion of the story). Once she is rescued, Marcello decides right then and there she is his. Does he technically capture her again? Sure 😍 but it's sweet though. Everytime I thought he mellowed out, he did something else that made me giggle. I swear if I didn't go into this knowing that Marc was a loving man, I'd be on the fence he was low key crazy. BUT rest assured he was been tested several times - he's not 😌

This book literally had me doubt my sanity . This was dark on many levels and so fucked up , the mmc is a man with psychopathic tendencies, who raped the fmc , chained her to his bed for periods of time , added sedatives to her food , violated her in her sleep and gave her fertility shots while she was asleep , and that was only a part of it . Even though the fmc seemed fine with it , I feel like that was probably Stockholm syndrome ,along with her deciphering all these acts as one that came out of love and care which I believe was due to her past trauma with her family and have seen what love and care truly look like . Overall nice and quick read 6/10 .

No one can Stalk better than Marcello!!

I was madly in Love with Gio's book & now Marcello is right there next to him, Honestly I can't decide who I love more🤔 (Why Choose when I love both guys🤷‍♀️) but one thing is for sure, leave it to Marcello to take stalking to a whole new level!! Extra points for Marcello for taking things up a notch from Love to stalking. This book was Perfect in every way from Intense, Cute to everything Dark!
This book was totally worth the wait & you could NEVER GO WRONG with Indi Marie books.
