"You've got to help me. Please, please come and help me!" That was the telephone message Jennifer Parrish got from her sister, Carrie. But when Jennifer dashed to her sister's Texas mansion, Carrie's new husband and their strange housekeeper did their best to keep Jennifer from seeing Carrie. They said Carrie was sick, she needed her rest, the doctor insisted. Then the little incidents began, the harassing hints that told Jennifer to go home. She was determined to stay, though, to learn what was really happening in the ominous mansion. Would Bruce Hastings, Carrie's good-looking neighbor, be able to help Jennifer? Or was he somehow involved with the whole unsavory business?
