A straightforward overview of the SY0-701 exam essentials. Before buying this book I attempted to study for this exam via Udemy but was bored out of my mind listening to Jason Dion drone away for hours on end. That's where I decided I needed a new study method. I know the official compTIA offers courses and I believe practice tests/labs, but I rather spend an arm and a leg to take the exam not simply study for it. This book was something like thirty dollars on amazon and I am glad I purchased it. It has seventeen chapters covering all required topics for the exam, with twenty questions at the end of each chapter covering what you just read. If you prefer studying by reading over listening, I highly recommend. This book also comes with a one year free registration where you can practice those same questions online in a timed environment, which is a nice added bonus.
This book took me around two months to finish because I ended up putting it on the back burner a lot due to school and work and such, but if you read everyday it definitely shouldn't take longer than a few weeks. I haven't taken the exam yet, and I will update when I do, but I already feel pretty confident in my ability to pass just from reading alone.
Update: Ended up passing the exam on my first try. My studies consisted solely of reading this book, taking the practice questions that came with it, and some additional free study questions online. If I could give one recommendation to others it would be to ensure that you not only know what the acronyms mean, but that you have an actual understanding of their function and when and where they should be used in an environment.
i read this book to prepare for the COMPTIA Security + exam. I haven't taken it yet, so I can't tell how reading this book has helped me. but I will say that I like the flow, writing style, and organization of this book. unlike other study guides that are more like glossary, the author does a magnificent job at breaking the information down and explains in practical terms how the information being discussed is pratical in every day cybersecurity functions/routines.
One of the most complete certificación related books i hace read. Concepts are well explained and examples are relevantes to the subject. You will see same concepts in several chapters, it may seems redundant but in fact it provides you the different dimensions of the same subject.
Utilizing this book and the online resources provided by this book, I was able to study and retain enough of the information to pass SYO-701 on my first try back in March. Highly recommend!
