I gave it 5 stars because I like hunting and I like going outside. I liked this book because every chapter something exciting would happen and it would make you want to read more and find out what happened next and matt's dad left to go and bring back his wife back to the cabin that they have just built when he was gone a stranger Ben stole matt’s rifle then they are almost out of food so he goes fishing in the creek then he meets attean and attean teaches him to make a bow and to read different tribal signs and they are hunting and matt shoots his first rabbit with a bow And attean shoots a bear then attean gives matt a chance to go deer hunting but matt stays back and waits for his dad. His dad and mom and sister come back matt gets a new gun but the baby died.That is why i gave this book 5 stars.

Matt teaches all of the people that read this book that life can be really tough no matter where you live.I love this book because I can picture what is happening in the book in my own mind. I love that Matt is very responsible to live on his own. IN THE WILD! If you read this book, you will get pictures of want is going on in this book that are really stellar. I will rate this stellar book 5 stars.

This is my first Elizabeth G. Speare book. It is fabulous, I love her style of writing.
