It took me a second to get into it in the beginning of the book but when it pulled me, I was in. This book has a great plot and the twist and turns caught me off guard. I loved that because I usually can predict a book. Blakely is a badass and I loved her even more towards the end. She’s a brat which makes really good banter and that’s personally a favorite! Aidan is also badass but a secret softie when it comes to blakely. He lost her once and he wasn’t willing to do it again. Their banter was funny and I loved them together. They gave me zade & Addie vibes and I was happy to find another couple like that. His mouth? Ridiculoussss and I loved it haha but he was also so cute in love. I need more books about them! I could read about them all day. I also loved that the book had a playlist and had a section for all the spicy chapters. Only thing I will say is I wish it was more descriptive of the characters looks so it’s easier to picture them and use as a reference for edits. This book was done really well for the authors first book though! I can’t wait for the next book about another character.

Blakely is one bad b!tch! She doesn’t take shit from anyone and is her own boss! She’s so amazing that even the big boys call her when they need help 🫣🤐
Aidan is one super hot bad boy who lets the love of his life go (or does he?! 👀) and when he lays eyes on her once again, he decides he’s never letting her go again. He was stupid when he let her go and he’s not making that mistake twice.
This masterpiece takes us on a journey of lost and found love and family. We get to be there through heartbreak, devastation and triumph.

So from the get go, this had me reeled in. Boyyyy this is one heck of a DEBUT NOVEL! I am pretty sure my thighs now identify as Niagara falls and if I’m being real with you guys, there is no complaints from me.
Blakely is the bada$$, independent FMC that is just portrayed perfectly. She gives no F’s, wants and takes whatever that girl wishes, she’s an icon.
Aidan is the possessive, morally grey MMC. You know, the kind that we all drawl over. Just wait until you meet him.
The plot kept building and everything fell together perfectly! Completely packed with drama, twists, danger and a hella lot of smut.
That ending.. god absolutely not. The moment with C, was so powerful and heart warming. Sobbed.
I’m still trying to process it all.
I would appreciate another book as soon as possible though. Plus, I really really want to know the situation brewing between a particular someone and a twin… those pink cheeks can’t be for nothing!
Okay, so I just want all of the characters to have books.
I would re read this again in a heartbeat, highly recommend it. Check triggers first as always, it is heavy. <3

From the second I realised that AK Draven had written a book based in Scotland I knew I needed to read it.
Wow, did this exceed my expectations.
Literally ticks every box that a dark romance lover wants. We've got an amazing plot, action, thrills, twists (oh boy the twists), I LOVED the dialogue, the dual POV and the SPICE 🥵.
Blakely is the definition of a strong independent FMC, she's amazing in every way. She knows exactly what she needs and takes what she wants.
Aiden is the perfect MMC, he delivers everything u want, from his dirty mouth to his controlling Alphaholeness.
The story itself is so well executed and the book has the perfect balance of plot meets spice.
Please be mindful that the dialect is that of Scottish language and there is a glossary at the start of the book to help with understanding. I have to admit the dialogue really made me love this book even more.

I absolutely love this book from the beginning. The moment I got started, I just didn't want to put it down. The twists and turns this book had kept me on my toes on the possibility of what can happen next. I couldn't get Aidan off my mind once I was done reading the book. He's the perfect book man, soft when needed, but such a tough guy on the outside. I love me a physically unapproachable kind of man who is a total softie when it comes to the girl he loves. This is the kind of book i can read over and over and still give the same reactions at any given time. I would definitely recommend reading the triggers before reading, but if you're a trigger girly, this book here is for you. I can't believe this is only book 1! Such great debut novel it was done amazingly. 🥰😍🥰😍

Aidan and Blakely are a story for the dark romance thriller lover inside you 🖤
I didn’t expect the twists and turns this book offered. For 90 percent of the book I had several theories that literally flew out the window when I found out the answers 🤯
Aidan and Blakely is full of angst and sexual tension. Two lovers two destroyed each other are forced back into each other orbits again for one common goal. Think they can focus on the mission and not destroying each other again? Or will the magnetic pull between them be too powerful to stop? Their secrets alone is enough to destroy them all over again 🖤
Draven is an amazing up and coming author! Her writing style was on point and she did an excellent job at sticking to the culture environment of her book and the dialect. This book takes place in Scotland and she stocked with their verbiage for speaking and did excellent at sticking to it. She truly is an amazing writer.
This book has all the spice and angst you could need and her next books for this series I can NOT wait for! The character set up she did for the others was perfect. She didn’t overload you with the side characters but gives you just the right amount to feel the tension and bubblings of what is to come.

This book was FUN, y’all! Not only did it have some fun alpha hole energy and a complete badass FMC, but the spice was SPICIN’! Blakely was not only incredibly intelligent and able to think three steps ahead of everyone else, but she was able to deal with Aidan’s possessiveness and be a complete boss lady. I enjoyed the world that A.K. Draven sets up and thought the various twists and revelations kept me on my toes, and overall were super fun to read.
I recommend this book for lovers of mafia romance, darker spice and those who love a kick ass (and maybe a little morally grey) female heroine.

While I love a good redemption story, under the spice is a true story of love and loss. The characters are well developed and their emotions radiate off the page. There are definitely trigger warnings. Mental health comes first so please check them. If you're okay with those, then this book is a spicy wonder with a very alpha male. I love how the FMC is curvy but there's not a true description of her curves other than she is "curvy".
Overall, this was a good debut novel and I cannot wait to read the next book. It has definitely set the stage for the world in which the series takes place.

Holy hell what an amazing debut novel! I was hooked just after only a few chapters.
This book had a bit of everything action , suspense, romance and lots of spice. It takes your emotions on a wild ride and once you start it will be hard to put down.
Blakely is a badass bratty FMC who is so amazing and strong the perfect partner for Aidan, although she proves she is quite good at being submissive when she wants. Aidan well there isn't enough space to talk about him, I could go all day! But he is the perfect book boyfriend, your typical obsessive, slightly psycho alphahole MMC - who does have a sweet side he reserves just for Blakely. Trust me you will fall hard for him with his dominance and dirty mouth having you willingly on your knees calling him 'Sir'.
Their chemistry is off the charts from the start and just seems to grow along with their character and relationship development. The spice is on point and theses scenes between the two are just so hot!
All the side characters were well developed and have a good foundation set for them all to hopefully learn more about them in future books. I just love the bromance between Aidan and Scott and can't wait for more of Scott.

Aiden, our dashing hero, is like a protective mama bear mixed with a possessive alpha wolf—hot as hell and just as loving. 🥵 And then there's Blakely, the badass femme fatale who could probably kick your butt before breakfast and still have time for a killer smile.💃🏻
But hold onto your bookmarks because the plot is where this book really shines. It's like a rollercoaster ride through a haunted house filled with so many emotions, secrets, twists, and enough action to keep you on the edge of your seat. ❤️🔥
And that end twist about certain someone’s identity? (I am not giving up the spoiler! 😜) was Brilliant! I mean, I didn't see it coming, and I'm usually as sharp as a tack (or so I like to think). 😎

I love me a badass, strong FMC, and Blakey was everything. The plot twists were great, I didn't see some of them coming and I LOVED the touch her and die energy Aiden was putting out. And based in Scotland, what more can I say!!

Pleasantly surprised by this book!
The opening scene was heart breaking, however, the rest was so good. The plot twists (Kore!), the angst, and the smut 👌🏻 Aidans obsession with Blakely was unhinged… I loved it.

This book was crazy from page one to the last! There was intense tension, hatred, and such a twist at the end. Blakely and Aiden had to much great chemistry even though they weren’t together. I loved the banter between Scott and Aiden, they were like real brothers! I also loved the chemistry between Emilie and Scott, I kept screaming at my book “Do it already!!” But alas I guess I’ll have to see what book two brings.

So this was A K Draven's debut novel, and boy she did not disappoint. I was pulled in once I got used to the authors way of writing.
The plot was great, and the story flowed so well. We saw some amazing twists, many of which i didnt see coming! It was a intense read, in lots of ways, the story line... the chemistry between the FMC and MMC. The spice was absolutely SPICING, and many chapters made me need a very cold shower!
The story follows Blakely a curvy, fierce, bratty, badass FMC. Shes takes no shit from anyone. After having lost the love of her life and being heartbroken Blakely, moves to France to live her life, when unexpectedly 8 years later, shes pulled back home to Scotland. Shes then reunited with the one who broke her heart, Aidan... a now, cocky, alpha serial unaliver, who will do anything to protect the ones he loves.
They're forced to work together, but will she be able to forgive their past traumas?
I really connected with all the characters, the dynamic between them all flowed really well. I really loved Scott, hes very amusing The banter was just so good, and i fell like sometimes books lack that. But it was on point, the Scottish slang was easy to follow for me (i'm English) but if you struggle there's is a page in the book with slang word interpretations for anyone who needs it.
So yeah, great read, great plot, chefs kiss spice...... i was left wanting more..... i need that next book like NOW, i am so invested in this series. It was everything i love in a dark romance! Need the paperback too because that cover, wow shes so pretty!! Great start to the series. Well done Ames, smashed it.

This novel is well written with well developed relatable characters. The slightly suspenseful dark romance plot with tons of action, twists, and surprising circumstances kept my attention and had me finishing the book in one sitting, as I could put it down!
Giving all the feels with some of my favorite tropes such as brother’s best friend, morally grey dark possessive MMC, strong feisty bada$$ FMC, the reason my heart is beating kinda love, as well as, touch her and 💀. The spicy scenes were well written and brought just the right amount of smolder that BURNED throughout the novel. 🔥🌶️🔥
Hats off to Draven for doing what she does best with her strong FMC who doesn’t need saving but is smitten with a second chance steamy love. If you are a dark romance lover this book it definitely for you!!

I adored this book, how could I not?
The tropes alone already had me itching to read it and then the dedication🥵🥵 I could not put this book down, I didn’t even care how much sleep I got, I needed to know what happened next. Not every book has a strong female protagonist and it made me devour this book even faster!
There was not a single part of this book that I didn’t like, not even the male main character (you know the possessive controlling type iykyk). Ugh and the ending😭 I’ve never cried so many happy tears, I was a little worried that she was going to leave me hanging in all the action parts…Every dark romance girly should definitely have this on their To Be Read List, you’re missing out if you don’t!I love supporting new/upcoming authors and A.K. Draven is definitely one I will continue to support! Her words make you feel all the dedication and passion she puts into her writing and you feel present with each character. Reading this book made me feel like I was in the story, living it, her attention to detail was pristine and I can’t wait for more!
I will recommend this book to everyone, it was a bit dark but, I feel like everyone could still enjoy it (it wasn’t too bad, I promise).

My thoughts
Honestly, this story isn’t going to be for everyone, and I recommend checking the trigger warnings to make sure you’re all good with the content. Your mental health is more important than reading a book – even if the story is amazing. I will admit, there were a couple of times that I scrunched my face up but I was able to read past them haha.
This story was so interesting, full of twists and turns that I honestly didn’t expect. Sometimes I had an inkling where things were going, but sometimes I didn’t. The twists were realistic though, so I never felt like I was taken out of the story at all.
I loved Blakely – though I have to say I loved Emilie and Bailey even more, and I can’t wait to see if their stories are told in later books. I also loved Scott and Tim over Aidan, and I’m excited that the next book is looking like it’s going to be Scott’s story 😊
I 100% recommend giving this book a read – after you’ve checked that the very strong themes will not be too much of a trigger for you.

This story was so interesting, full of twists and turns that I honestly didn’t expect. Sometimes I had an inkling where things were going, but sometimes I didn’t. The twists were realistic though, so I never felt like I was taken out of the story at all.
I loved Blakely – though I have to say I loved Emilie and Bailey even more, and I can’t wait to see if their stories are told in later books. I also loved Scott and Tim over Aidan, and I’m excited that the next book is looking like it’s going to be Scott’s story 😊
I 100% recommend giving this book a read – after you’ve checked that the very strong themes will not be too much of a trigger for you.

Aiden is a morally gray, dirty talking, possessive, alpha-hole in the best of ways. I was immediately drawn to his character. He only ever wanted to keep Blakely safe, and had to do so in a way that he regretted for eight years. Blakely is one of the baddest badašş FMCs I have EVER read. Ho-ly sh!t! I mean geez. I want to be her when I grow up 😂
For a debut novel, AK Draven can write the shit out of some words. It took me a minute to get into the book because there was some set up, flashbacks, and general introduction stuff that had to be told. But once I got into it? This book had me in a chokehold to the very end! Seriously, to quote the great Samuel L. Jackson in ‘Jurassic Park,’ “Hold on to your butts,” for the last third of the book 😳
I have so many words and not enough words to review this book to the justice it deserves. What I can say is that you need to read this book. It had great characters, sizzling spice, suspense, and all the best tropes wrapped in one delicious package. Speaking of packages…😏 Piercings anyone?

I purposefully went into this book, not reading or looking into what the story entails.
Upon the first few pages, the author notes the dedication, the TW and CW, the playlist, the dic*tionary, the glossary and pronunciation guide, I was already extremely pulled in
Having a glossary and pronunciation guide was the perfect touch because it gives insight into different languages, cultures, phrases, slang, etc. Which was extremely well received on my end.
Onto the masterpiece itself:
I want to preface my review with something I touch upon regularly, which I think would help other readers who read this review who may be similar to myself. I am neurodivergent and I believe I have some reading difficulties. My brain gets scrambled and confused quite easily, I get overwhelmed with multiple characters, which in The Spectre, there are quite a few, and with unique names that without the guide of how to pronounce the names, I mentioned I would have been at a loss. I found it a little bit daunting at first. However, the characters are so unique that after a few chapters, I didn't have to flick back to the pages to remember who was who.
A.K Draven has created this beautiful story in spite of serious and dark pasts between the characters, which I would definitely check your TW for. But has created the most incredible story, a story of overcoming and strength.. and has formed the most badass MFC that I am in awe of. The plot twist, twisted. And the spice, SPICED. It touches on regrets, second chances, love and power, family, and family made by bonds and not by blood.
I love Blakely with every fibre of my being. She is no damsel in distress, no matter how many times she's referred to as a princess, undermined, patronised, just because she's female. Blake can handle herself and then some. And as a 5 lady myself, her representation was amazing.
My favourite character dynamic is hands down Scott and Aidan, their banter and chemistry, their bromance is just chefs kiss..I was laughing so hard at their interactions. My favourite scenes from this book were between these two.
This book deserves nothing but 5 stars, if it was out of 10. It would be 20. I can't wait to read more, and I highly recommend this book to everybody.

“The Spectre” by AK Draven had me in the first paragraph and I was hooked. This was such a compelling story with its twists and turns and romance that was FIRE!

WOW!!! This book had my in its grasps from the very beginning. The story was amazingly captivating and a total page turner.

Blakely is absolutely crushed and decides to leave home to start a new life. Coming back to save the one many who crushed her heart was not in the cards but she couldn’t say no. Getting wrapped up in Aiden again is not on the menu but he has other ideas. Aiden will stop at nothing to get back what has always been his, Blakely. “I was her first, and I intend to be her last.” Blakely is not the same woman as when she left and she has some secrets that she is not willing to give up.
When I say the story had me on the edge of my seat I was not kidding. I could not read fast enough. Seriously I love this book so much. The spice was absolutely amazing!!!!
I also absolutely loved that there were two mystery’s to solve in the book. Who was turning against Aiden and his family and then who the heck was Kore? How did they know so much information? You find the answers and let me tell you I was pleasantly surprised!
I cant wait for the slicer!!!

Blakely is an incredibly strong willed and an independent badass protagonist that will kick ass at the drop of a hat. I loved her character. She is complexed and well imagined.
This is a wild ride. A thrilling, fast paced and intriguing labyrinth that has been delicately woven by Draven’s brilliant imagination. Her writing is incredibly passionate, inspired and so well executed. The fascinating characters and brilliantly developed plot line are thoroughly captivating and compelling- once you’ve started you will not be able to put this book down.
There is a lot going on in this story. Being set in Scotland it has a slightly different approach to the overall language. For me this was not a deterrent as I’m English and living in Scotland. So… easy peasy. But others might want to utilise the dictionary at the beginning!
Events occur that bring Aiden and Blakely back together after some time has passed between them. They have an incredible pull to each other. And their connection is deep. I loved their dynamic throughout this storyline.
The supporting characters were brilliantly portrayed and I hope we will have more of them in the future.
There are emotions galore, lots of spicy smut and of course oodles of angst.
A K Draven has proven to be an outstanding writer with this wonderful masterpiece. This is an absolute must for all dark romance fans.
