This great series is composed of three books that I will review individually and as a series.
Book 1 Dark and Beastly Fae
Nissa has been locked up in a tower surrounded by armed guards for the past nine years. She has never known love, friendship, maternal love or any other form of personal enhancement since she first manifested a magic that could grow fruits, vegetables and plants of all types and, her mother had her confined to assert her own power over the town and get richer at Nissa's expense.
Her daily routine is to be awaken early, taken to the fields, use her magic to fatten the villagers untill she is completely exhausted and, then taken back to the tower. If the guards think about it, they might feed her.
Ker is a Fae warrior king who splits the realm with 3 other kings. They are cursed in such a way that the only solution to avoid the dire consequences is to mate with a human who displays a certain magical ability and, at the eclipse, they may break the bond.
Ker's search leads him to Nissa whom he abducts from the village tower and bonds with without any real sexual mating taking place.
This book is their adventures and the start of a series entitled Forbidden Mates.
The author, as usual, delivers a great story filled with misunderstanding, abuse of all types and parental neglect but also filled with friendship, love, respect and camaraderie that captivates the reader from the start. A great read that I highly recommend and rate 5 Stars.

Laeli has been locked up in an underground cell in the human King's palace surrounded by armed guards for the past nine or ten years. She has never known love, but is confined with her two friends, ever since she was imprisoned at the young age of 13 years old when her magic appeared in the form of fire and after her house burned to the ground taking the lives of her parents and sister . her two friends are mated and pretty much at it every night with the consequence of having her sworn off sex.
Her daily routine is to be awaken early, taken to where her magic is needed , tortured by the guards untill she is completely exhausted and, then taken back her cell.
Ravv is a Fae warrior king who splits the realm with 3 other kings. They are cursed in such a way that the only solution to avoid the dire consequences is to mate with a human who displays a certain magical ability and, at the eclipse, they may break the bond.
Ravv is instructed to look for a particular human which leads him to Laeli. whom he abducts from the village prison and bonds with without any real sexual mating taking place.

Kaelle has been confined to a cave "for her own protection" as she was told by her parents, for the past eight years. She has never known love or friendship, or any other form of personal enhancement since she first manifested a magic that creates winds so powerful that villages, including her own, were destroyed when she unleashed her power, that day. and, her entire family had her confined and starved, while they ate every day, at least three times a day, if not more laying a guilt trip on their thirteen years old daughter ans sister.
Her daily routine is to awaken early, roam her cave and eat. If her family brings her food during their visits, leading her to believe that they barely have enough food in their village.
Vayme is a Fae warrior king who splits the realm with 3 other kings. They are cursed in such a way that the only solution to avoid the dire consequences is to mate with a human who displays a certain magical ability and, at the eclipse, they may break the bond.
Vayme's search leads him to Kaelle, whom he abducts from her cave and bonds with for the purpose of disguising his magic to the assassin looking for him.
This book is their adventures and the conclusion of a series entitled Forbidden Mates.

Quickish Review
Relatively easy read of three separate takes on fairy tales. Basically, three fae kings need to bond with three humans with special powers, to hide from magical assassins, but the bond is only temporary unless the FMCs also choose to make it permanent. The three romances happen concurrently, so you see some of the same events from different perspective, which I liked.
World building is more than usual LG book but still on the light side. All the FMCs are of the long suffering heroine type, with content warnings for that suffering. Each book is pretty straightforward, very couple centric and most conflict is internal. Second book is my least fave because of OM contact. There’s still a tendency to depend on telling vs showing some important relationship building scenes but it’s so low stress, which is what I was looking for in my reads this month. I’ve been bingeing this author’s books, so while I think they could step up with the story development, they’re easy enough reads that I can’t be mad at it.

decent read
The last books are always like the plot gets lost when they’re usually the most anticipated story. I would say it is a decent series but a very slow read because it’s not as fun as some of the other books by her.

I loved the first, but thoroughly enjoyed the how the other two filled in the blanks. I will have to search if the assassin's get their own story.

Good world building. Interesting how she wound magic into the human realm and I think she hit the nail on the head of how humans would treat those with magic.
