Reading this gave me a deeper appreciation of Studio Ghibli’s films. I binge-watched (and re-watched, in the case of the few I had seen before) all of the ones available on Netflix at the height of the pandemic lockdowns and finishing this now makes me want to rewatch everything, this tine in the order that they are presented in the book. I also loved looking at the frames that were included—what beautiful art 😍

This book gives a really good starter into the background of Studio Ghibli, Miyazaki, and other animators from the studio. Great reviews of the films have encouraged me to watch old favourites and find new ones: I had never watched Nausica Valley of the Wind, and because of this book I did and I loved it! The images have been carefully selected to accompany the writing with care and you can clearly see the author’s love for studio ghibli. This book is just as charming as the films.
