Her Beautiful Dark Side

Rate this book
Sophistication, elegance, and beauty surround me. This is not the life I was born into, but it’s the one I built for myself. In order to protect it, everyone has to meet the very high bar I set in my personal and professional life. I am in a good place and everything is working according to my design. Then, I am invited to a banquet – one of the many events I attend throughout the year. It is an elegant affair and I enjoy the grand celebration but not so much the people I meet there.

A woman walks over and rescues me from a pointless conversation with an associate. I learned that she has had her eyes on me for the past few events but is just now finding the courage to make her move. A woman has never declared her attraction for me before, and it piques my curiosity. Then just like that, the smile disappears and she wants to get as far away from me as possible. I am confused and she provides no reason for her sudden lack of interest. I press her for answers but she gets up from the table and walks away, leaving the event without saying goodbye. This is fate giving me an opportunity to protect the perfect world I have created. Still, I go after her the way she came after me, and I swiftly realize that the life I have lived has not prepared me for the woman I find. I refused to obey the flashing lights and now I am in a head-on collision with her beautiful dark side.

Once again, a creative dangerous relationship tale by this Author. Here, we are confronted with a spectrum of BDSM alongside conventional romance...total opposites but this story presents yikes and waoh moments.

I’m torn.

I have read lots of books about BDSM and a couple of my favorites are “The Shaded Parlor” by Nanisi Barrera D’Arnuk and “Don’t Tell Me No” by Honey Chanel. Another short series that has a paranormal leaning is “Claimed by the Countess (Blood Mistress Book 1)” by Avery Arden. When BDSM is done right, you can help but to like it, even if it is not your preference or lifestyle. One of the things that these books do well, is about getting “consent” and a talk beforehand before anything takes place about safety and rules to be adhered to.

I say that to because, this is part of the problem that Stefanie faced when she met Nelka and found them both in a situation that neither of them could truly handle. Nelka because it was new or foreign to her. And Stefanie, because she needed it for fulfillment. When we met Stefanie she was bold and in Nelka’s face to get the woman she found interesting. And Nelka had her own set of issues to deal with.

Their story was a little harder to follow because there were so many things that I actually did like about Stefanie. I didn’t mind her lifestyle, except for what I mentioned in the first paragraph. And she wasn’t in “the life” or “the scene” per se except for her personal proclivities. Nelka came in and tore it all down. But I also think that there should have been some compromise on Nelka’s behalf. But it seems that her approach was the one that seemed to work for them in the long run. But when it came to heart, I felt Stefanie’s the most. Nelka remained Nelka, but more loving.

In true fashion they had to find a way to reconcile those vast differences and settle into the love that they did not expect to find but did. MP made sure that the O’s were always full body brutal and all consuming. The crazy family dynamics of Nelka’s family and the town in which she was from and her family still inhabits. I always love the crazy family dynamics. And once they met Stefanie, it was OVER.

Some parts of the story reminds me of “Love on the Ground” and “Her Truth.”

I gave this 5 stars because I love the telling of the story. It is not one of my favorites. But I like the character of Stefanie a lot. She is the reason for the 5. She made drastic changes for love. I believe those changes are sustainable as well. I am glad that she got her HEA. She got a family that she needed and deserved.

A Heartbreaking (Dark Side) and Heartwarming (Sunny Side) Story Of Love !

Mardria Portuondo has become a master at storytelling. Her stories are not always conventional but are definitely interesting and engaging. Although a little sensitive to read, there are many kind of lifestyles that are not necessarily “our” thing but when it comes wrapped in a story of love and compassion that alone keeps us intrigued. The coupling of Stefanie and Nilka was an excellent example of the above. But true love does something extraordinary and sometimes it takes being faced with fear of losing that can cause positive change. That stands true with what Stefanie had to overcome with control and what Nilka had to overcome with feelings. Once again another good one to read and now we wait for the next book.

Interesting-ish but a little predictable

Interesting storyline for the most part, but referring to Stephanie's "dark side" is kind of a dead giveaway to anyone with any idea.

Also, it's maybe a little unrealistic that they would fall in love so easily and then Nelka just gives in to whatever Steph wants. I feel like that could have been more rounded out. The characters could use a little more depth, I feel.

Still, an interesting book, but not high on my list of re-reads.

Finally it has arrived 😍

The brilliant, fantastic author, Mardria 😉, has done it again. Gripping with heavy angs, passionate steamy scenes, you are wisked away from this novel. A 5🌟 most definitely again. Cant wait for the next book to blow my mind .
