A Living Nightmare . . .
Shilo Meadows is a young girl who has “something” living within her, resulting with a problem Shilo has to deal with somehow… and may not be able to “fix” regardless. As dusk is coming, she finds an abandoned building used by the homeless. It seems there are always many such choices as the wealthy city officials don’t want to bother leveling those businesses that don’t work out. The smell of mold, rot, and other nameless things make her want to gag. And she also smells bad, so there is nothing to be done about it. A fire on the first floor is warmer, so most people are gathered there and she goes to the second floor. One other person is passed out. She finds a room blocked by a collapsed pile of rubble and uses power from the “Being” inside of her to get into the room where the barricade will keep her safer.
Shilo has been on the run for 6 years now while hideous monsters hunt her and they barely give her time to rest before they find her again. She should sleep, but she has felt a sense of anxiety and dread all day. She starts to doze off until someone screams downstairs and all the sounds she heard coming in here have disappeared. She creeps slowly down the stairs and now hears moaning, slurping, and snarls. Her muscles won’t let her move as she stares at the carnage below. Finally taking a step backward, she slips on a huge puddle of blood… and one of the creatures turns to look at her, preparing to leap! Teeth and claws start to tear at her, her bones snap, her lung is punctured, she coughs up blood, when suddenly she hears, “Girl, I will not let your foolishness destroy this body,” and the Being inside takes over!
There is much more left to read, but I wasn’t enjoying any part of this story line and decided to bail out.
