The first three thrillers in the new Group Fifteen series. Follow Charlie Cooper – an assassin in the same off-the-books organisation as John Milton – as he travels the world to deal with threats to national security. Visit Egypt, Turkey, and Israel with Cooper as he fights to stay one step ahead of the criminals and enemy agents he's been ordered to liquidate.
Mark Dawson was born in Lowestoft and grew up in Manchester and Chicago. He has worked as a lawyer and currently works in the London film industry. His first books, "The Art of Falling Apart" and "Subpoena Colada" have been published in multiple languages.
He is currently writing two series. Soho Noir is set in the West End of London between 1940 and 1970. The first book in the series, "The Black Mile", deals with the (real life but little known) serial killer who operated in the area during the Blitz. "The Imposter" traces the journey of a criminal family (think The Sopranos in austerity London and you'd be on the right track).
The John Milton series features a disgruntled special agent who aims to help people to make amends for the terrible things that he has done. Mark, as a child of the 80s, will freely admit that he watched a lot of The Equalizer in his youth.
I've never been a lover of novellas, but I thought I'd try again. I'd read Sandstorm about 15 months ago so remembered a lot of it but not all. I'm still not fond of novellas after reading this set. All the stories seem to come to an ending missing out a lot of detail. I was not bored reading them, and they were well written, but its the way they travel to an ending at 100 mph that I don't like. Yes I will read more Mark Dawson but not novellas.
Charlie gets a cryptic message from someone he least expected and knows what he has to do, a seek find hit and run finding the truth is the hardest and hitting where it hurts the most, but it's not as simple as that oh no Mark Dawson doesn't make his stories that easy to read Charlie Cooper may be a group member but he's no soft touch. A must read highly recommend
I enjoyed the three short novellas in this series. They give you the same fast action as Dawson's full-length novel but in a compact and easy-to-digest format. Many authors are using this new format and I'm keen to dive into this writing style.
As expected. Never disappoints. Can't wait for the next one. Charlie Cooper is a great addition to the family. Concise,no nonsense character, I’m looking forward to the next installment. In this series
Excellent introduction to Charlie Cooper - plenty of intrigue, yet many things left unsaid, so that the reader can make up any part of the story as they see fit, based on location, the situation, the characters, etc. Thoroughly enjoyable.
Having met Charlie in a John Milton story I wanted to check him out. I just finished the box set of the first 3 stories in record time! Can’t put the darn thing down!!! You’ll like it…
Mark Dawson does a great job with his thrillers. This series of Charlie Cooper stories are a fun quick read. Good plots, good action, good endings. Can’t ask for more form a thriller. Highly recommend these!
I love Mark Dawson’s writing and Charlie Cooper is a great addition to the family. Concise,no nonsense character, I’m looking forward to the next instalment.
