Luna The best thing to happen to our family was the murder of my uncle.
My father is the new underboss tasked with cleaning up the recent fallout. He decides an arranged marriage is the best way to mend ties between the Cosa Nostra and the Bratva. As the eldest daughter—groomed since birth and molded into the perfect bargaining chip—I’m forced to do my part.
Choice is defined as selecting or making a decision when faced with two or more possibilities; what happens when it’s taken from you?
Nikolai Loyalty is paramount, but it can cost you.
The Bratva are my brothers, and when a secret society invades our territory I choose to enter an arranged marriage. An alliance is pivotal, and I’m pressed to find answers. It’s a contract—a transaction—I will not bend to make her comfortable. But when I glimpse the fire that ignites in her soft brown eyes, I’m pulled in.
It’s only a matter of time before she leaves. They always do.
Heritage of Fire is book 2 in the Blood Ties and Legacies Duet. While it follows a new couple, it is recommended you read Heritage of Blood first as Mafia elements carry over.
K.P. Haven is an avid romance reader who writes the gritty, fade-to-black romances she wants to read. She lives in a small, southern town with her husband and three children and enjoys slow mornings, reading, and mint chocolate chip ice cream.
The MMC is just so mean to the FMC and the small romance glimmers we got so far feel off. I’m not really feeling any sort of connection to them or the story. She’s also so young and naive (20 to his 33) and it’s not made out to be a big deal in the book but I’m struggling to not be icked. The action was just starting to pick up but I’m just not feeling it. It probably would have been a fine book but I’m not in the mood to push through.
I love that this author writes gritty, closed door mafia romance and I’ve read an enjoyed other books by her and I plan to read more.
2.5⭐️ Lots to unpack here. I really enjoyed the first book so I had super high expectations going into this one. I mean a closed-door mafia romance?? Yes please. Especially since it’s an arranged marriage, (we all know this is one of my fave tropes) buuuuut ultimately, it fell flat for me.
I liked Luna as a character. She was sweet and her POV was enjoyable to read, because there was actual substance to her character and thoughts. I usually enjoy the MMC’s POV more, but when we got to Nik’s, all it was were sexual thoughts and keeping his actions under control. He was a 33 year old man thinking about his 20 year old wife in that way. And that was seriously all it was! It felt super surface level and shallow. And I was like, does he feel or like anything else about her? Her personality, the things she does, actual love? It was so monotonous and icky. So I just did not like Nik at all. Which is sad cause he was so fun in the first book.
There was also waaaay more swearing than the first book. I can handle swearing in moderation, but I thought it was excessive. And this wasn’t just closed-door, it was fade to black. I think there were 3 instances of them leading up to intimacy. It never got explicit or anything and they were married, but it still made me a little uncomfortable. Pushed that envelope just a little bit.
Another thing that was weird was that the book kind of just ended and some things didn’t happen that needed to. Luna asks for help in self-defense, but she never ended up getting into another situation to defend herself. She also has an eating disorder throughout the book, and the author said Nik helps her with it, but it never got resolved, and he never really thought about her not eating in his POV. It was almost like he didn’t care. If that makes any sense. It just bothered me. And Luna never really got a character growth arc. She lived under her father’s thumb all of her life and was beaten down, used, and was forced into an eating disorder, and none of that was resolved in the end. Her character felt unfinished.
I guess all in all, this book was sadly not for me. I enjoyed some things like the raccoon scene, if you know you know, the rescue scene, (again if you know you know) and some of the things Luna and Nik did for each other and together. But if you are looking for a gritty, closed-door, mafia romance, this book will probably be for you. Sadly, it just fell flat for me.
Read if you enjoy: - Dual POV - Arranged marriage - Mafia romance - Age gap - Fade to black/closed-door/kissing only - Protective MMC
TW: - Moderate frequent language (s**t, d**n, h**l, b***ard, a**, and G*d) - Kidnapping - Attempted SA - Eating disorder - Violence/torture - Toxic family relationships - Mentions of drug use
Thank you to the author, K. P. Haven, for the ARC of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Holy Cow! KP Haven blew this out of the water!! I loved Heritage of Blood but this was even better. The slow burn, the tension, ugh all of it was so good. There was such a great slow build to the relationship between Nik and Luna and the payoff was amazing. The plot outside of them was a bit slower but once it took off, it reallly took off. I absolutely loved it and couldn’t put it down.
Another wonderful read by Haven! Sweet Luna quickly won me over and I already loved Nikolai from the previous book, so I loved getting more of him!
Haven did a great job and maintaining the elements from Heritage of Blood that I loved, while also letting Luna and Nikolai having their own story and being their own characters.
This book felt a little darker to me than the first one, so please pay attention to the warnings. Obviously, I recommend this one and I look forward to reading more by Haven!
(I received this book for free from the author and am voluntarily leaving this review.)
This is the second book in this series and it follows Luna and Nikolai. I highly suggest you read Heritage of Blood first you have a background clue of who’s who.
This was a good read! I enjoy @authorkphaven writing and her mafia stories! This my second book reading from this author and I love how I get sucked in her world of writing. I can’t wait to read more from her!! If you’re looking for a good mafia read, definitely check her out!! As always check possible triggers

I really wanted to like this. Close door, mafia romance is hard to find and I was so excited for it.
But after slogging through it all evening long and making it to just barely the 50% mark and there’s still not a whole lot of understanding of who each of the main characters or why they have any sort of chemistry at all- I just have to give myself permission to put it down
It seems like both characters are almost fully developed for their motivations and for who they are or want to be individually but you get little spurts of fire in each of them that don’t really fit the rest of who they are. It’s almost like another character OSS being described for a a brief moment.
this completely throws their chemistry off other than being explained by instant connection that the they both want to deny. And there’s too many times where one of them suddenly understands what the other one was assuming about them and correct it with little to know reasoning behind this. even though the reader knows that the MMC is thinking one thing or another, he has given no reason to the FMC to understand any of it.
I get really frustrated with details such as Luna being stuck in the warehouse for a month by herself, but then suddenly not wanting to be alone when Nick goes to Russia. Why is she worried? She’s alone every single day all day all the time!
And why the heck did Kate not invite her over to hang out for like three months?! You would think if Kate was worried about her she would have invited her over on day two and they could’ve formed a friendship and given Luna something to live for besides Reading all day I guess?
“I don’t want to be with you for the sake of duty, or for an alliance. I want you for you. I want to make a life with you. A family. We go beyond duty now, Luna. You’re mine—my life. I’m madly in love with you.”
Luna Buscetta spent her entire life locked away on the estate of the Cosa Nostra. A mafia princess only seen as currency in their world, her father offers her to the Bratva for marriage so that he can form an alliance that will prove to be beneficial to both entities.
Luka Balakin, the second to the Pakhan, has completely sworn off women ever since his mom left as a child. Though he’s unable to commit to any relationship he’s a known charmer whose loyalty lies with the Bratva and soon enough Luna.
I really enjoyed reading this book. The story was medium paced, learning about both MCs was also cool and seeing them develop over the course of the story was everything for me. Reading Nik’s POV was also really funny because he kept trying to give himself little pep talks so he didn’t fall for Luna, but that didn’t work out all too well because he fell fast and hard for her😅. I definitely recommend check out this book. It’s book two in the Blood Ties & Legacies Duet, and I totally recommend checking out the first book before reading Heritage of Fire.
Some tropes to consider: 🔥arranged marriage 🔥where’s my wife 🔥secret society 🔥playboy to simp 🔥she falls first, he falls harder 🔥reserved fmc 🔥witty, charming mmc
Heritage of Fire releases on June 10th!

After Salvatore's brother was killed by Luka for conspiring with Senator Hope against the Bratva, the Cosa Nostra is seeking an alliance. When Salvatore suggests a marriage between his oldest daughter, Luna, and Luka's second, Nik, he immediately rejects the idea. However, Nik sees the value in an alliance, especially since they are up against an unknown threat.
I liked Nik's character in the first book and was glad he got one of his own. He is loyal to the Bratva and to Luka and is conflicted as to how he can reconcile his growing feelings for Luna with his position in the Bratva.
Luna has been hidden away from the world and has been allowed few choices of her own. She doesn't want to get married to some man she's never met, but she does what's expected of her.
I liked that Luna determined to make the best out of her situation and that she learned to grow a backbone and stand up for herself and those she cares about.
Trafficking of young girls is a theme in this book. There is also a scene where a man tries to force himself on Luna, although he is interrupted before anything can happen. So, I would suggest reading the trigger warnings.
There is mild cursing in this book. This is a slow-burning, fade-to-black romance book. I did think her descriptions before the fade got a little longer in this book.
Nik is an easily lovable character that hooked me in book one, but man… the dude was so frustrating through the first half of this book!!
Nikolai & Luna are thrust fully into a whirlwind arranged marriage so the Italian and Russian mafia can unite against a common enemy. At first, it does not go well. Neither of them want this, and it is awkward, uncomfortable, and, for Luna, quite lonely.
However, it all starts to shift! But just when you think the HEA is on the horizon BAM! Some wild events take place, and the absolute storm continues. Take it from me, it’s fabulous.
You’re gonna like this if you’re into:
-She falls first, He falls harder -Arranged Marriage/Mafia Romance -Libraries 💋 -Steamy, Closed-Door/Fade-to-Black -Playboy to Undeterred Devotion! -Where is my wife?
You can read this & the first book in the duet on Kindle Unlimited!! 🩷
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ – Beautifully written and full of heart
Wow — where do I even begin? Blood Ties and Legacies completely pulled me in. I think Nick and Luna’s story ended up being my favorite. I’ve always loved a slow-burn romance, and this one delivered perfectly. Both characters had their own walls and vulnerabilities, and watching them slowly open up and grow together was so satisfying.
What I especially appreciated was how real their emotional connection felt. It wasn’t rushed or shallow — it was genuine love built on trust and understanding. Even though the story takes place in a mafia world, it still manages to focus on healing, protection, and finding safety in love.
And can I just say how refreshing it was to have all the chemistry and tension without explicit scenes? That made me love it even more. I’ve been wanting to find a mafia romance that focuses on love and connection rather than just lust — and this was exactly what I was hoping for.
I can’t wait to read more from this author. Highly recommend if you enjoy slow-burn, emotionally rich romances with depth and heart.
I’ve been waiting for this book since I stumbled upon Heritage of Blood a few months ago. GOSH I loved it. And I’m here petitioning for a Kieran story! 😂
Heat and sizzle pop in this closed door Mafia romance about Nikolai, the enforcer to the head of the Russian Mafia and his arranged marriage to Luna, the daughter of the head of the Italian Mafia. I loved Nik in book 1 as the third wheel and cheerleader to Luka and Kate, and his story was impossible to put down.
Tropes: - arranged marriage - age gap (she’s 20 and he’s 35) - one bed - touch her and die - found family
Content: - disordered eating - attempted SA - references to sex trafficking and descriptive visuals of trafficked women in a club - heavy drinking - minimal language (a**, h***, d***, s***) - closed door but STEAMY with a good amount of heat and description
K.P Haven PLEASE keep writing. I will read and would be happy to ARC any story you want to bless us with 🩵
I loved it! It was such a good follow up to the first in this duology. And I appreciated how distinctly different it was from the first in terms of Luna & Nik vs. Kate & Luka. Each couple has their own unique quirks. With Luna, I felt like she was a klutzy bookworm. And with Nik, I felt like his mommy issues meshed well with Luna’s childhood trauma. Yay for trauma bonding. Although a bit slow in the beginning, the main plot was interesting enough to stay curious about the secret organizations. The romance between Luna & Nik was more awkward than with Kate & Luka but it turned out super cute in the end. Like I said with the first book, I could easily imagine this as a tv show or a movie because of all the action and slow burn romance. Oh and I almost forgot! The spice in this book is basically black pepper. Not boring, but not Rated R either. It was well done to me and left lots to the imagination!
I read book 1 of the Blood Ties and Legacies Duet last year as an ARC and have been dying to read book 2 since I finished! I was very excited to receive this ARC and I’m happy to say Heritage of Fire did not disappoint!
I loved this story from page 1 right on through the epilogue! Nik was one of my favorite characters from book 1 so I was thrilled that this book was his story! Nik and Luna were so much fun to read and as their romance unfolded I found myself swooning over and over. The mafia aspects of the storyline were really exciting to read too! Overall, I really enjoyed reading both books in this duet and am so grateful to have been chosen to read both books as ARCs.
this was a good sequel! i loved nik in the first book, so when i realized this book was about him— i was over the moon. this book features a new character, luna, who i adore. she's so sensitive with her emotions and surroundings, closing herself off for most of the early years of her life, to being more bold and confident. there were quite a few tropes in this book: marriage of convenience, age gap, and unfortunately, a lot of miscommunication. if you plan on reading this, do check the trigger warnings. it proved to be intense at a few points. the characters' arcs, the shared moments, and the relationship we got to see from the first book come back in this book were all the convincing i needed to read this book! excited for what's next!
What to expect: ✨ arranged marriage ✨ mafia and secret society ✨ soulmates ✨ she falls first, he falls harder ✨ forced proximity ✨ playboy to SIMP ✨ dual POV, closed door
I just can't believe I read not one but two mafia romances in a row that are closed door. I can finally go to haven. This one I liked better than the first one. The structure issues from the previous book were not present in this one. Everything fell into place at the right moment to keep the story interesting. And the genuine issue regarding the romance was well done. Nik was so fucking good, I can't anymore!!! And Luna was reserved but so mentally strong. What can I say, I need more from this author soon.
I liked it, but not nearly as much as the first. It's still a good book, and you should definitely read it. The emotions felt real. It wasn't a quick strangers to lovers flip. Your heart breaks for her the entire book. Especially at the climax of the book. Speaking of climax, this is a very steamy, descriptive kisses, descriptive desires, fade to black book. He says good girl, but isn't nearly as hot as Luka saying it. I love Nik and I'm so happy he got his own book and HEA. Like I said before, READ IT!!!
The FMC will be tugging on your heart strings. Something about her situation you feel for her. The character development for both MC is on point. She evolves so positively you start to admire her. The MC has a development on his own as well. But his is emotionally aware. He grows. There is a slow burn. Romance at its truest. There’s no smut but opening scenes to an implied steamy situations. People get caught in the smut and not romance. This is romance only. I meant the make out scenes are passionate. Would recommend.
Another absolutely fantastic book by Kp Haven. I devoured this one. It was so different than Heritage of Blood. I’m one of those girls that buy the paperbacks of their favorite books & this is one of my top favs of this year! I would HIGHLY recommend this series and this book. I can’t say how much I loved this! I would literally reread it in a heartbeat.
Cw: it does have HEAVY topics including s3x trafficking, abuse, etc. it is fade to black.
I really enjoyed reading this story. Even though it is within the Mafia genre, it’s not as brutal the some. The slow burn romance is sweet. I enjoyed all the different characters. The author achieved her aim at tugging on the reader’s heartstrings, portraying a very lonely, isolated female protagonist, Luna. While the plot isn’t startling, the writing is good, and it is simply a lovely story.
I loved this sequel to Heritage of Blood! Nik and Luna's slow-burn romance was perfect, and a fun following up to Kate and Luka's story since you are able to see their characters as well. I think I may have even enjoyed this book more than the first one. I know it says it's a duet, but I would love a book about Bella, Luna's sister. Definitely a 5 star read if you enjoy mafia romance!
Excuse me while I recover feelings in my legs. My heart is still racing. This book was everything! The action sequences were beautifully crafted. The chemistry, the suspense, the tension, the romance, the action, the world building...my goodness this book had everything to create a 10/10 masterpiece!
I loved Nik from Heritage of Blood, so I already knew I was going to love his story. And I loved Luna so much. She reminded me so much of me in a lot of ways and watching her find herself and fall in love made my heart so happy. I love the story lines in this series. I cannot wait for Broken Blood Ties because I’m a sucker for some Irish Mafia men. 🥵
This one’s a 4.5 stars. I loved Nik from the first book and now reading this one made me love him even more. A mafia book with an arranged marriage, age gap, closed door romance and fighting/violence is a good book to me. I do wish we got to read more on Luna wanting to learn more about self defense and more connection with Luna and Nik but overall it was a good book.
Luna & Nikolai a slow burn mafia romance between the Russian & Italian Mafia 🔥 What starts off as an arranged marriage turns into a love that fights to remain! Loved both of the main characters, there was depth to them that made them likeable. Nikolai what a man! Loyal and fierce! Luna, what a force your family underestimated! The bromance between Luka and Nikolai was so heartwarming and a nice dynamic to see in the context of mafia romances! This was my favourite book out of the duo in the series.
I enjoyed watching them helplessly fall despite their best efforts. I love K.P. Havens writing style. Clean and easy to read. This is light mafia or intro to mafia. Plenty of darkish elements without going too dark!
