A Song of Sacrifice

Rate this book
Once upon a time, there was a powerful witch who ran away from her grandmother. The grandmother sent out bloodhunters to find her, but she enchanted a cherry red cloak to mask her blood's scent.

Not too far away, there was a big, bad Lycan who had one drink too many. Blurry visions of a woman in red and one passionate night left him with nothing but a primal pull to her.

What happens when the woman in red runs back into the arms of the Lycan? Will she escape her grandmother's grasp? Or will she be sacrificing herself to the big, bad wolf?

A bold, magical ride with a heroine worth rooting for

A Song of Sacrifice by Savannah Giles is a fast-paced, engaging paranormal fantasy that puts a fresh twist on classic folklore. Wren is a standout protagonist—strong-willed, clever, and determined to break free from her past. Her journey of reclaiming control over her life and magic is empowering and easy to get invested in.

The world-building is vivid and unique, blending witches, Lycans, and long-held secrets into a story that feels both dangerous and enchanting. Brenden, the protective alpha she crosses paths with, adds heart and depth to the story, and their connection builds tension in all the right ways.

Some of the plot moved a little too quickly, especially in the middle, and a few character moments could have used more time to breathe. But overall, this was a fun and compelling read with strong characters, high stakes, and an ending that leaves you curious for more.

I do also want to add the audiobook is phenomenal. The voice actors that an amazing job.

I am absolutely in LOVE with Brenden and Wren. Wren is such a force to be reckoned with and Brenden don’t even get me started 🥵. We love a protective man okay? Okay! This book has it all besties! Witches, Lycans and knotting!! 👀 The end does make me think there is more in store for these lovebirds and I honestly can’t wait!! Once again @authorsavvygiles has hit it out of the park for me. There’s a reason she’s on my automatic buy list.

So good!

Once I started reading, I could not put this book down. I absolutely loved Wren, from her determination to escape from her current situation to her slowly healing from her past. Brenden is all Alpha, and he had me hooked. The extra characters are all fantastic, even the villains. There is plenty of drama, high tension, and a handful of pretty steamy scenes. I need more from this world and these characters!

Little Red Riding Hood meets a supernatural, romantic twist! I LOVE Wren and Brenden! I also love this story! The journey of self-discovery was a wild ride. Will there be a sequal? It feels like there should be a sequel!

This book has action, mystery, humor and spice! I think there is a lot of potential here. There are some inconsistencies with time lines and character development. Overall, I enjoyed the storyline and would be interested to see what's in store for Wren and Brenden in the future.

ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS!!!
I was invested from page one with this tale. How can you NOT be when Wren has a grandmother like she does -- with ways that are painfully outdated and just not right. It had my own characters in an uproar the majority of the time.
It was seriously interesting when Wren crossed paths with Brenden. Why she chose to tangle her path with his for one night was an interesting little mystery. Fate, it would seem, is eager to correct it later on.
These two figuring out how to get long -- with Brenden understanding what Wren's life was like before they met and ACCEPTING that he needed to play this out a little more carefully... I absolutely loved it. Wren is a spitfire in her own way. She definitely grew a backbone to vocalize what she wanted and how she felt.
Of course, my favorite part was when Brenden proved to her just how willing he was going to go to both protect her and show her how he felt. So when an unwanted wrinkled face decides to come knocking... Wren isn't as alone as the lady would prefer her to be.
Mystery, thrill, and even some Easter eggs that had me SQUEALING...I can't wait for the next amazing piece to come from Savannah!! Nor can I wait to grab a paperback of this beauty!!
I hardcore recommend!!

This book is an adult retelling of The Little Red Riding Hood.

I enjoyed the feisty FMC Wren and the MMC Brenden is delicious. IMO Brenden is the perfect partner. The story begins with a witch named Wren running away from a ritual her Grandmother set up to keep their witch bloodline pure. While fleeing the Bloodhunters sent after her, she hooks up with Brenden, a Lycan, at a bar to cover her scent. After their hook up she runs away only to find out she will need to find him again. Wren, now pregnant and knowing something is wrong with the baby, uses her magic to teleport her to the one who can help her with her baby. Her teleportation leads her back to Brenden. Wren now has to learn about Lycans and discovers they are very different from what she knows.

Overall I enjoyed this book. The plot developed well and I enjoyed the character development. I was a little thrown off when she met Brenden at the bar and her drastic change in character confused me. It is explained later, but I was thrown off when it was happening. The story does focus more on the relationship development over the conflict between the coven and the werewolves. The relationship development seemed a bit rushed but it still works well with the overall storyline.

This retelling of Little Red Riding Hood was a fantastic read. This is the story of Wren, a witch, and Brenden, alpha to a pack of wolf shifters.

When Wren discovers her grandmother plans on breeding her with 23 male witches to preserve their bloodline, she runs. She runs and is hunted by bloodhunters with the orders to bring her back.

She runs into Brenden at a bar and decides to use his scent to mask hers. They have one smoking hot night and she runs again leaving him with vague memories of their night together. But a little surprise sends her back to him.

I loved this author’s writing style. Wren is a fantastic FMC and Brenden is her match. The internal dialogue of Wren had me smiling and when she discovered he knew what she was thinking my smile grew bigger. The dialogue can make or break a good story. In this case, it enhanced a well-developed plot.

I cannot wait to read more of her work.

This is a spicy retelling of "Little Red Riding Hood". It is written in multiple P.O.V and has a little of everything. Spice, violence, angst, and romance.

Wren grows up with her grandmother who is the epitome of a nasty person that only cares about herself. Wren manages to escape and finds herself fleeing to wherever she will be safe. Along the way she comes across a lycan Brenden who is just what she needs in the moment.

Brenden is the alpha of his pack who comes across "Little Red". Little does he know she is about to turn his life upside down, but he is here for it.

The writing in this book is great. The dialog and banter back and forth between Wren and Brenden had me continuously reading. I really hope there are more books with the other characters like Briar and Aria.

This was a very interesting retelling of Little Red Riding Hood, I’ve read a lot of fairy tale retellings but not this particular story so I was looking forward to that. The story was very spicy and I loved Brenden’s character.

I really enjoyed the writing style and the supernatural elements, and the dialogue between characters was great. I felt like some parts were a little rushed, but overall was well-written.

I’m very intrigued by some of the side characters, especially Jasper who was introduced at the end. Also I hope she writes or has written a novel about Brier and his mate Lunaria, I think I liked them better than the main couple, Wren and Brenden. Excited to read more installments by this author!

A Song of Sacrifice is a Red Riding Hood fairytale retelling. I love reading these types of books as they put a twist on the story we know and love.

Little Red was a super strong individual. I really liked her character. She wasn't going to be bullied anymore. She took her own life into her own hands.

Wolf gave me some whiplash at the start. I wasn't really sure how he felt about Red until a bit later in the book. He really seemed to dislike her, but then suddenly something switched and he did like her.

The storyline had a lot of suspense involved. I was wondering how they were going to get out of the troubles they were facing from her grandmother. There was a lot of build up for this and it kept me on the edge of my seat.

I read an ARC before the book’s release date.
While this was an entertaining read, I just think it wasn’t quite my kind of book. The story had potential, but I felt like the characters weren’t quite fleshed out nor consistent enough, especially the main character, Wren. It didn’t make sense to me that she went from a victim on the run to seductress so quickly, it just didn’t seem to fit her history or who she was painted to be in the first few chapters. I guess that’s my biggest issue with this book is that the sex was intense and raunchy but Wren was not someone who I could imagine being into that kind of sex. 🤷🏻‍♀️
The dynamic between the witches and the werewolves was unique and interesting, and it’s set up to continue developing into a very unique world, that part I did like a lot!

I received an ARC copy of this book. Also, I use AI to help me with reviews because the notes I take while I read are incoherent and nonsense, since I do smoke while I read.

"A Song of Sacrifice" by Savannah Giles takes you on a wild ride through a willd world, mixing romance and supernatural elements with a modern twist. Think Little Red Riding Hood but with a fresh spin.

The stars of the show are Wren and Brenden, and let me tell you, their chemistry practically leaps off the page. Wren’s a tough cookie who’s escaped a rough past, while Brenden’s this mysterious lycan alpha with a *serious* protective streak. Plus in my mind he looks like ADAM DRIVER. Their journey together is packed with danger and self-discovery, as Wren tries to shake off her old life and prejudices.

Giles’ writing style is addictive, blending humor, mystery, and a healthy dose of heat. The dialogue’s so lively, it sucks you right into the story. Sure, there are moments where things feel a tad rushed, a little fanfic-esque, but overall, it’s a solid read. I read it in a day and a half.

In "A Song of Sacrifice," Savannah Giles serves up a cocktail of romance, fantasy, and adventure that’ll leave you craving more. Get ready to be hooked on Wren, Brenden, and the whole gang.

The author was kind enough to send me an arc copy of this book, however I just did not like it. At all. I feel badly about the level of dislike, which is why I’ve waited so long past release to write my review, but this book was not good. The pacing was way off, the characters were horrible, the spicy scenes were just cringy. I know I read an arc copy, so hopefully there were some more edits before the final release because the writing was not it. I honestly can not give a single positive for this book. Again, I feel badly about how much negativity I can go on about this book, because I know I couldn’t write a book. I’m just going to say that this author is not for me.

I could not put this book down! If you took Little Red Riding Hood made her spooky and then added a super HOT Alpha Lycan into the mix! The FMC Wren is a fiery little witch who is trying to save herself. The MMC Brenden is a Lycan Alpha who despite being head of his pack is still down to earth and lives to help others. These two together are a power couple… when they come together history itself will be rewritten. And boy is it HOT when they do! This book will have you on the edge of your seat one minute and then fanning yourself in the next from all the HEAT!

Absolutely ate this book up! I started and couldn’t stop reading til the end. If you love witch’s, lycans, and all things paranormal, you will devour this book!

Wren has been lied to her whole life by her “loving” grandmother and come to find out most of what she was told was a lie. She meets Brendan and immediately feels a connection to him. What she doesn’t expect is to find someone that will take care of her and show her what it means to be family.

I highly recommended you go grab this book and can’t wait to hopefully read more in this series.

Great start to the series!!

Little Red Riding meets Sabrina vibes with a hint of darkness.
This is a great story about Witches and Lycans (Wolf Shifters) that culminates in the coupling of Wren and Brendan. (Content Warning: Pregnancy).
Wren is a character that will be relatable to so many readers. Brenden is a character that will divide readers. You'll either love to hate him or hate to love him.
This was an easy read that had lots of spicy moments throughout the story.

I don't think we've seen the last of Wren's Grandmother.
Can't wait for book two.

Wren and Brenden
Witches, Lycans, magic and more!!
Such an original storyline, with a Little Red Riding Hood twist.
Filled with mystery, humor, action, and spice. We also had some emotional moments and both characters go through some growth.

Wren was smart and sassy, maybe a side of sweet too.
Brenden was definitely a protective alpha.
I loved them both. The push and pull, banter and spice was just perfect between them.
Their story was quite the adventure!
I'm wondering if we will get more!

A churning cauldron of ruthless power, evocative scenarios, and fierce romance, A Song of Sacrifice is a sensational retelling of Little Red Riding Hood-You will never think of Little Red or the Big Bad Wolf the same again!!

***It should be noted, however, that ASoS does address certain topics, such as rape, that may be a trigger for some readers, and it does contain a significant amount of graphic "spice" as well. I would recommend for mature readers only.

This book was really good! Brenden is the perfect mate for Wren. Wren has been through a lot of trauma growing up and I can really relate to that. If you like fated mates, witches, werewolves, lots of spice, then you'll love this book. And that twist at the end? It makes me really excited to read her the next book!

I absolutely enjoyed this book. It’s more of a short story (things move very quickly). Wren and Brendon
Are absolutely fantastic characters! Wren is the perfect balance of caring and fierce. Brendon has the
whole protective alpha role down to an art. I highly recommend this book if you’re looking for a shorter
fun read!!!!

Let me start by saying that this is one of the sweetest authors I’ve ever talked to.

I devoured this book in one day. Just one.

The FMC is a damaged firecracker. The MMC is delicious. The angst is chefs kiss. The magic was super unique. I loved how the story unfolded, and I love how she set up the next one.

My only question is how am I supposed to wait for the next one?
