Bryn Kenneally and her fellow Tuatha De Danann escaped Ifreann, leaving a trail of blood in their wake.
As they journey across a dying world, they seek an army to battle King Bres and put a stop to their ultimate enemy's return, which would unleash hell upon the last living humans.
Meeting obstacles at every turn, the goddess who only knows death must figure out how to protect the lives of those around her, including her mate.
Can the Tuatha De Danann save the last remnants of nature, or will eternal fire and brimstone end the world for good?
C.D. Britt began her writing journey when her husband told her she needed to use her excessive imagination to write stories as opposed to creating a daily narrative for him. Ever since she penned her first words, life has been a lot more peaceful for him.
She currently resides in Texas where she has yet to adapt to the heat. Her husband thrives in it, so unfortunately, they will not be relocating to colder climates anytime soon.
Their two young children would honestly complain either way.
When she is not in her writing cave (hiding from the sun), she enjoys ignoring the world as much as her children will allow with a good book, music, and vast amounts of coffee (until it’s time for wine).
C.D. Britt is the author of Shadows and Vines and the upcoming book, Sirens and Leviathans. Both books are part of the Reign of Goddesses series.
This was a magnificent read! Have I mentioned how SPECTACULAR this author's writing is??? She deserves SO much more recognition, SO many more accolades than she currently has! Her prose is so alive, I can see every tiny pebble, I can hear the rustling of the leaves, I can feel the heat of the desert burning me, I can smell the pungent aromas, my nose even curls up involuntary, THAT'S how vibrant a landscape she paints.... It's been a while since I read book 1 but within the first few pages, the devastating effects of the previous book came crashing down on me, I remembered it all...
Bryn was a young girl seeking refuge with her father in a post apocalyptic era, only to see him snatched away from her. Only to see everyone gang up on her. Only to see everyone feared her. Why? Well, she has "unusual" magic, the deadly kind, she herself was unusual. But, in this cruel world, she found true friends, friends who are much more than mere friends, connected in a way none could have imagined, friends who supported her, friends who stood by her, no matter what. The awful events that took a friend from them, have Bryn and the rest of her friends fleeing but all they find is devastation after devastation. The guilt of "what if" has such a stronghold on her, it threatens to destroy her. They are on a journey not only to find Bryn's mother, but a journey to discover their past, their memories. All of which with little help from Danu, who's too weak to aid them. It's a race against the clock before everything implodes, life is literally in their hands. Now on their own, the revelations of who they are or were, is burned into their skulls and not everyone is happy about it. Actually no one is happy about it but some like Bryn, like Justin, accept what must be, some, like Declan rebel at every turn. He wasn't a nice guy before this all happened and now, well, he's positively vile! Justin on the other hand, is still the kind caring sweet soul he always was.
Oh do I adore Kian! He's the quintessential gentleman, or wolf... I love what's brewing between him and Bryn but both the wannabe relationship as well as Kian, is mired in complexities. Ms Britt brought all the sexual tension in these scenes, it was surprisingly tender and sweet, with none of "the action" initially. I do enjoy Ms Britt's capability to surprise me, time and time again, but some surprises are so unexpected, my jaw drops. Cyerra is a prime example...the revelations were astounding, the twists tangled up in so many thorns, I flinched in disbelief.
The nativity of the group, what they faced, landing into trouble after trouble, tested them to the limits. Grrrr, I really wanted to rattle all the teeth from Declan and his idiotic behaviour. My heart was in my throat so many times throughout this book, but geez, I was howling in glee, eventually, like a dog at the moon at events in Osgar, a village they found themselves in, at a leader who wasn't a benevolent individual, at the shocking conclusion. What a way to keep the adrenaline pumping! Yes, Ms Britt kept the entire tale intriguing, surprising, heart stopping, astonishing! Caden! OMG!!!!! Shoo, I know this all sounds confusing but I dare not give anything away, you NEED to read it! I know I've already said this was a magnificent read but hells WAS this ever! Of all the characters, Kian and Niamh stand out to me, besides Bryn of course. Niamh has so much going against her as she does for her, she's a vamp, an instant death sentence if anyone found out, yet she's one of the kindest, nicest, most loyal of friends Bryn could wish for, always there for her, never judging. The additional characters that pop up are delightful, well placed and super cool, like Rae, an effervescent persona of note. And Kian, well, hotness personified! He might technically be "the enemy" but he's there for Bryn, in every way. Oh do I love this "thing" brewing between them!!! But the world is literally on Bryn's shoulders, it's her task, and that of her brothers and sisters to stop the evil from entrenching, destroying everything. They both are more than what they once were, and, as Kian said "You hold the memories and the power" and she does...
Gosh are the characters portrayed exceptionally, they are all out of their depth, uncertain of what to do next, trying to stop an evil king with scanty memories. Bryn's words hit the nail on the head, "they may have memories coming to the surface every day, but no one in their group had found their feet". This is so much more than purely a fantasy read, this book and series embraces Celtic culture, embraces the myths and legends of the Tuatha De Danann, of the Fomorians, goddesses and powerfully entwined into the plot. The deception, the misconception, so expertly drawn, the action was heart in throat, the pacing ideal in this excellently built world, full of colour and vibrancy. By the end I was pretty much limp from the onslaught of anxiety and emotions I experienced through this author's excellent storytelling and, even though, one evil is defeated with another yet to be, I did not despair, I rejoiced, all teary eyed at WHAT Ms Britt did at the end. I honestly can not wait for more!
As someone who devours paranormal and fantasy romance, it's rare for a book to truly surprise me—but Omens of Wolves and Witches did exactly that, and in the best way possible. It didn’t go at all where I expected, and that unpredictability made the experience even more enjoyable.
Building swiftly on the foundation laid in Book 1, this installment wastes no time. The story launches straight into high-stakes action, pulling the main characters deeper into their evolving roles and destinies. The pacing is sharp, the stakes are real, and the sense of urgency carries through from start to finish.
We’re also introduced to several new characters, each crafted with enough depth and mystery to keep me curious. None of them feel like filler—they all seem to have a purpose that I’m eager to see unfold in future books.
One of my biggest pet peeves in this genre is a "gifted" heroine who’s somehow clueless when it comes to emotional intelligence or basic red flags. Thankfully, that’s not the case here. Our FMC (female main character) is refreshingly grounded. Yes, she struggles with the whirlwind of change around her and wrestles with complicated feelings—both old and new—but she processes it all in a way that feels genuine and relatable. She’s not immune to confusion or vulnerability, but she’s also not helpless or painfully naive. It’s a delicate balance, and the author nails it.
This book pushes the overarching story forward, ties up just enough loose ends to feel satisfying, and leaves just enough unresolved to make me need the next one. If you’re a fan of immersive world-building, compelling characters, and smart emotional pacing, this series continues to deliver.
Omens of Wolves and Witches totally delivered. I had no idea what to expect after the ending of book 1, and that unpredictability made it even better.
Book 2 picks up fast and dives right into the action. The characters continue to grow, the pacing is tight, and the tension stays high the whole way through.
The development of the characters is top tier. Especially as they come into their true identities. I’m genuinely curious to see where their stories go next.
The book moves the main plot along, wraps up just enough, and leaves me dying for the next one. If you love solid world-building, great characters, and emotional depth, this series keeps hitting the mark.
This is a thrilling, emotionally rich sequel that completely captivated me. Bryn’s journey from goddess of death to reluctant savior is gripping, raw, and beautifully written. The post-apocalyptic world is layered with Celtic mythology, and the stakes couldn’t be higher as she and her allies race to stop King Bres from destroying what’s left of humanity. I loved the complex relationships, especially between Bryn and Kian, as well as how each character struggles with identity, grief, and purpose. The pacing is tight, the twists are genuinely surprising, and the emotional moments hit hard. This isn’t just a fantasy; it’s a story about growth, resilience, and the power of found family.
Picking up from book 1 we find Bryn and friends trying to adjust to their new normal and trying to adjust to who they are destined to be as well as their role in saving humanity. So much loss, death, devastation is all around, and the stakes are higher. Although Bryn and her allies/friends are like a fish out of water they are doing the best they can with what little knowledge they have. I enjoy seeing Bryn grow into her own. Her growth continues to evolve as her begin to understand her powers and purpose. I'm looking forward to what comes next.
I’m usually never taken by TOTAL surprise in a book anymore but some come along that do and this book is 100% one of those. It didn’t go where I expected and didn’t end remotely close to how I predicted. This authors writing skills are tremendous. Please do yourself a favor and go ahead and get lost in this book!
…PS- this books mfc is super grounded, isn’t helpful or painfully naive and in desperate need of a man to save her. (Which is fine too, but this is a refreshing take.
I was given arc for this book. I absolutely adore the main characters. I found myself in love with the world building and desperate to keep learning more about the magic. Bryn is an awesome warrior. I did feel like we were leading up to getting into the war, but it is still not happened spoilers. So I’m gonna have to read more series to find out if my favorite character Travis and Caden survive.

I love this book. It’s fascinating to read. I like all the characters and the world building is great. I received this book as an ARC and leaving a honest review.
I was lucky to receive this book as an ARC and absolutely loved it. Once again Britt made me fall back in love with her characters, especially Bryn as I fell in love with her even more. The magic aspect is something that I really loved as it was done amazingly well. C.D. Britt is an author that still isn't getting the recognition that she deserves and she's an amazing storyteller with an eye for detail. She's definitely an Indie author to keep your eyes on.
