Rosemary Willhide- now an auto-buy author for me!
I adored her book It's Always the Husband, so was thrilled to read her latest book!
Willhide has a style of writing that I just can't get enough of. Easy read (needed at the moment), wonderful pacing of the plot, and amazing characters that are intriguing and fascinating.
This book has a hidden USP though- it is hilarious. I'm talking belly laughing. Getting funny looks from people nearby kind of funny.
I loved it being about authors and reviewers too, really added an extra edge for me.
I lapped it up, and I think thriller fans everywhere will do too.

I just finished "Table for Six," and it's fantastic. I love Rosemary Willhide's writing style; it's not stuffy or pretentious but real. I loved and hated the characters at the same time. I laughed, teared up, and, best of all, I did NOT see the ending coming. Great read! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I would love to spend a day inside this author's head! The stories she comes up with are unbelievable.

With each new book I say it's now my favorite, and I'm doing that with this one. I wasn't sure what to expect when I started this one but I can tell you, I'd have never guessed in a million years

It was a exciting thrill ride right from the get go, and with each turn of the page, it sucked me in deeper & deeper.

Rosemary Willhide's *Table for Six* invites readers to a tantalizing feast of secrets, betrayal, and redemption. Set against the glitzy backdrop of the Rock and Roll Romance book signing in Las Vegas, this novel serves up a sensational mix of passion, mystery, and unexpected alliances.

The coveted invitation to the Rock and Roll Romance book signing promises more than just literary camaraderie. For five romance authors, it's a chance to reclaim their fame, revive their careers, or settle old scores. Gillian Stark, once a celebrated insider, fell from grace due to a single FB post on behalf of her author friend, Sydney Hart. Now, with the clock ticking and the stakes high, Gillian teams up with TikTok influencer Ava Winters to reclaim her throne on the best sellers list.

Willhide's writing had me hooked right out the gate, with the weaving of suspense and sensuality into every page. The Las Vegas setting crackles with energy, and the pacing kept me guessing until the final revelation. This event made me want to be there, lol. I’ve never been to a book signing on any level, so hoping someday! Be prepared for steamy encounters, unexpected twists, and a dash of danger.

I received a copy of this book for free, and I leave my review voluntarily.

This book will entrap readers from the dedication. With moody, realistic characters and secrets they hope no one discovers, we meet the romance writers of Las Vegas as they prepare for a huge conference.

This year is different, as a TikTok influencer is among the group, and soon, these old dogs are learning new tricks mostly, what a well-edited video and strong use of hashtags can do.

The way traditional marketing and new advances are woven together felt authentic and, at times, overwhelming. Willhide captured book sales stress perfectly, as only an author can.

But as the start of the conference looms ever closer, the drama only seems to intensify. With the past threatening to make an appearance, friendships on the line, and a truth no one is ready for.

This storyline has all the elements that go into a five-star read. Drama, humor, a pinch of spice, and wealthy people misbehaving. When you think things couldn’t possibly get worse- they do.

Boldly written, with lavish scene building, dynamic character development, and plot twists that are twisted, Table for Six will grip the reader until the last page.

With carefully crafted writing that only Rosemary Willhide can curate, characters you love to hate, and twists that don’t stop this delicious, devious novel will make you wonder, with friends like this, who needs enemies?

Are you ready for a free fall into chaos?

Rosemary Willhide has done it again. Just when I think I know which direction we are heading with the story, it turns out I'm completely off base and maybe not even in the same book anymore, lol. I thought the plot for this book was extremely unique and so much fun, kind of like getting behind the scenes in a sense. I thought all the characters were great in their own ways, but Beth and Ava just seemed to speak to me. This book was fast-paced and irresistible, and I ended up reading it in a night/early morning 🙈. The other thing I really appreciated was even though there are a lot of characters, I didn't think it was hard to keep them straight like it can be at times. I loved this book so much, and you need to go buy it now. I promise, Rosemary delivers one hell of a story like always.

Whoa! I'm blown away! Rosemary Willhide did it again. This story started strong and never stopped moving. I liked how the author kept the chapters short and character-specific. Exceptional character development and a captivating storyline (as per her usual story writing) will keep you on your toes. I was completely hooked on Table For Six and couldn't put it down. Twists and turns and intrigue. Every element was meticulously thought out. I loved everything about this storyline! If you like thrillers you don't want to miss reading this one. Highly recommend! 5-stars!

“Sitting here comes at a price.” So does reading it.

I don’t know where to begin.

I have to admit that I do read Colleen Hoover and I even enjoy Kristen Hannah’s early stuff (but I LOVE her historical fiction much better). Other than that, I haven’t been a romance fan since maybe my middle school days.

When I was in Nashville visiting Ann Patchett’s Parnassus, my friends and I stuck around after closing hours for an author event. This was a totally spontaneous move on my part as I had never heard of the two authors: Alicia Thompson and KT Hoffman. They had both just written baseball romance novels.

Until that event, I had no idea there were sub-genres in the romance novel field: sports romance (like Thompson and Hoffman are writing) and motorcycle romance (like the characters Penny and Lainey are writing).

I totally enjoyed hearing these two authors and even picked up Thompson’s Love in the Time of Serial Killers (not a baseball romance). She created a real woman protagonist (not a blonde Barbie doll) that had real issues. I liked that she was an English doctoral candidate too. Worth a quick read.

Hearing Thompson and Hoffman introduced me to real people who just happened to be romance authors.

Most of the characters in Table for Six are just bimbo stereotypes playing at romance writing.
I do realize that Table for Six is not a romance and is advertised as a suspense novel. It does depict romance writers though.

There’s lots of places I could start with my review of this novel. I will just jump in with the characters.

Sydney: what a bitch. She totally and unbelievably breaks ties with her best friend after said friend goes up and beyond defending her. An underlying reason she broke ties might have been that she was jealous of her friends’ sleazy husband.

Gillian: said friend from above. She’s loyal to a fault. Her sleazy husband Peter is a porn addict and, shall I just say, may like himself too much. But, when her teenage daughter walks in on him and his addiction, Gillian doesn’t leave? WTH?

Ava: a romance reviewer. She is enamored with this dysfunctional romance writing crew.

Penny: part of the team Penny Laine that writes motorcycle romance. I would need a spoiler alert here so I won’t really talk about her too much except she unexpectedly and somewhat unbelievably morphs. She also cheats on her husband (but he’s kind of a cad, too).

Lainey: Penny’s partner. She did step up to being a good step-parent when forced into it so that’s redeeming. She does help create a totally inappropriate fracas at a funeral though.

Beth: the only one with any redeeming qualities but she has to deal with death and more death.

Camille: kind of a minor character but one that plagiarizes, lies and kills.

I hated that some of the antagonism between some of these “friends” revolved around men—Peter (the sleaze ball porn addict) or Dillon (the Fabian look alike man-whore). It just cheapened the depiction of women and friendship. I also hated that the frumpy and reclusive Camille decides to rejoin the party for totally superficial reasons:

I don’t want to go back into hiding. Until Dillon showed up on my porch, I didn’t mind it, but now that I’ve lost weight and my son is a cover model, I’d like to rejoin the land of the living. I don’t want to be a recluse anymore.” (198)

At times I thought Willhide might be trying to keep the voices of the characters distinct from chapter to chapter like keeping Ava young and hip with her thoughts and dialogue. Ultimately, though, the characters all sounded alike and I had to go back to the beginning of the chapter to see who was actually speaking. Her writing left me wanting: “He was like a lifeboat of hotness keeping me afloat” (146).

And I also hated that the group makes a huge and totally inappropriate scene at a funeral when they know that one of their friends is in indescribable pain.

Then there was Rock and Roll Romance event. Is there a less inventive name? I cringed every time I read that. (Yet I googled it and there is something called the Rockin’ Romance Readers Event.)

There at least was not “third-act breakup” in this book. It just all comes crashing down.

“Table for Six” by Rosemary Willhide is an exhilarating, fast-paced thriller that kept me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. The story centers around five authors and one influencer, all of whom are entangled in a web of scandals, deceit, and shocking twists that you won't see coming. Each character is uniquely crafted, with complex motivations that slowly unravel throughout the book, making it impossible to predict who you can trust. The pace of the story is relentless, and I found myself unable to put it down, even losing sleep to finish it in one go. If you're a fan of suspenseful, twist-filled tales that keep you guessing, Table for Six is a must-read!

Riveting with a shocking ending

Reading this as an author and a book reviewer, was wild! This story follows a handful of romance authors and a TikTok book influencer. Their lives are each messy in different ways. Sickness, marital issues, book drama, old feuds, etc. Throughout the story you see both the good and bad in the book world/author world, how quickly the tides can change from a few negative comments, even plagiarism plays a part in this story. You come to realize that everyone has a secret or secrets, but the revelations at the end of the book… mind blowing! Not at all what I was expecting. 🤯

Table For Six is about a group of authors embroiled in scandal, deceit and secrets. Their arguments and back-stabbing has spanned many years, and as they try to come together and begin to trust each other, more secrets are revealed.

This was my first book by Rosemary Willhide. It was a fast, easy read with layered characters, and twists along the way. I really enjoyed her writing and I’m looking forward to reading more of her books. A great read!

Wow! Is the book world really like this behind closed doors? These people are romance/smut authors. The cattiness and petty grudges in this group is crazy! I had no idea what the twist would be and I hung on every word waiting for it.

I love the way Rosemary Willhide writes. She makes me love a character one chapter and hate them the next. By the time I got to the twist, I had been through all the feels for just about everyone.

Mood Readers: If you want some thing to keep your attention, keep the pages turning, without too much exposition but a fast-moving whodunnit plot- this is your book. You learn just enough about the characters and their motivations and problems as a starting point to try to solve a murder mystery, but you don't get too invested in their fate. Most of the main characters are driven first by ambition, next by lust, while believing themselves to fairly normal. Only one character had any integrity, and she suffered the worst . The resolution happens in a trap box of claustrophobia, paranoia and vengeance... the end seems a little rushed, and setting up for a sequel? Or maybe just shock value. This would be a good book for a mystery book club to dissect.

6 main characters ( and their families, lovers and friends) -- they are romance authors at various points of success. Past scandals and future potential scandals- all played out on social media platforms- plus complications with husbands, lovers, children-- have driven each one to a breaking point by the time of the Las Vegas Romance Convention. We learned the beginning that somebody dies, but then the story goes back two months in time as an introduction to the six authors. It can be a little confusing at times with so many characters, but you know them by the final confrontation. At this point, I was reading very quickly, just to see which one was killed, and how it happened. The events stay true to the themes of the book. Ambition, lust, pride, arrogance, bitter grudges and vengeance-- all in the name of writing the "trending" romance.

In Rosemary Willhide’s ‘Table For Six’, readers will be captivated by a suspenseful story that keeps them hooked. The fast-paced narrative and gripping storyline make this novel impossible to put down.

This book stands out because of its short, impactful chapters. This format’s quick pace and momentum keep you engaged and turning the pages. The familiar feeling of wanting to read ‘just one more chapter’ late into the night is something Willhide expertly develops for devoted readers. The suspense and intrigue in each chapter make it hard to stop reading.

I’m very impressed by the character development in ‘Table For Six’. With skill, Willhide forges a varied group of characters, all with their own personalities and narratives, which develop satisfyingly. The story allows readers to connect more deeply with the characters, adding complexity to the plot.

The book’s unexpected turns and twists are what truly make it stand out. I thought I knew where the story was going, but Willhide cleverly surprised me repeatedly. The plot twists enhance the suspense and improve the story, creating an unforgettable experience.

To summarize, ‘Table For Six’ is a captivating novel with fast-paced storytelling, well-developed characters, and thrilling twists. Readers seeking a gripping novel will find Rosemary Willhide’s engaging and rewarding narrative an excellent choice. If you like suspenseful stories with well-developed characters, you’ll love this. I don’t know what book others have been reading or what they’re reading that I’m not but I found this book rather disappointing.

It tries too hard to create tension and it felt very forced like the author was trying too hard to make us question who was guilty. It has multiple narrators but they were all too similar and I often had to flick back to figure out who was narrating the chapter I was reading. All the characters, bar maybe one, were unlikeable and I realised that I didn’t really care who had been killed or who was the killer.

Quite a laborious read and all in all, rather disappointing.

***Spoilers***

I don’t understand how Camille faked her death, surely the police would have got involved if no body could be found? The dirt Penny had on Ava was ridiculous and wouldn’t have changed that much because she left her ex husband when she found out what he’d been up to. Then on the last page, Camille admits to killing Dillon and that he wasn’t her child, how? It was like the author just wanted to tie things up and finish the book.

If you are only going to read one Rosemary Willhide book, let it be this one. Let it be your gateway drug, because if pretty and whitty is what you are after, Rosemary is always here to serve!

This thriller was full of laughter, tension, and a healthy dose of laughing at ourselves.
Rosemary did an amazing job of mocking the way that outsiders see the bookworld, while also poking a healthy amount of fun at those within it. Everyone of these characters is alot to handle just as everyone of these characters have my heart. They will make you want to scream at them for being selfish while simultaniously making you want to go out for margartias with them and let them tell you all about how life is hard, because here's the thing, it is! I feel like this book had alot to say and it managed to say it all while giving us a mystery that we did not want to put down!

REVIEW OF TABLE FOR 6, by Rosemary Willhide.
This suspenseful novel was so dramatic! I had no idea the world of books involved such a level of drama to it — if it in fact actually does. 5/5 Stars for this star-studded rendition of a story to kill for! The characters were unbelievably real - I guess that’s why I disliked some of them so much. This novel was written from various points of view which made it more realistic. It was challenging to keep track of the various characters and their loved ones throughout the storyline. It kept me on my toes (besides, I made a cheat sheet to help me out). Excellent read. Highly recommended for readers of suspense and intrigue.

There is so much going on in the lives of these 5 romance authors and an influencer that it was difficult to guess which one would blow first. I laughed, I cried, I flipped the pages faster. I just had to know how it would all turn out. This is a Romantic Author Thriller (Is there such a genre?) about infidelities, addiction, betrayal, lies, deception. There’s also adult language and actions, sexual tension and activities. They are, after all, romance authors. I only hope the authors I know aren’t this crazy or cruel. I found a new favorite author!
