In this unique synthesis of Eastern and Western healing approaches, Gabriel Mojay combines the practice of aromatherapy with the wisdom of traditional Chinese medicine. Mojay explains the esoteric and energetic healing properties of 40 essential oils and shows how they can be used to manipulate qi, the body's vital energy, to stimulate healing from negative emotional and mental states. Some forms of nervous tension, for example, are caused by stagnant qi energy, which can be released with essential oils.
Aromatherapy for Healing the Spirit provides help for a wide range of common emotional and mental complaints--including depression, low energy, lack of concentration, poor memory, anxiety, and low self-esteem. Easy-to-reference charts and full-color illustrations teach simple aromatherapeutic massage and acupressure techniques that restore balance to the body and psyche.
I really enjoy having this book as a reference to browse for myself. I'm not an aromatherapist, but I just love knowing all the properties of the oils. The key words for Sandalwood are; stillness ~ unity ~ being. For Ginger: initiative ~ self-confidence ~ accomplishment. And Bergamot: release ~ relax ~ uplift. That's just what Gabriel Mojay starts off with for each page of each oil. He goes over the history, uses, properties, how each relates to Chinese 5 element healing, and more. It is just as it stated - a book for "healing the Spirit" That's what I use essential oils for, so it's perfect for me.
I find myself reaching for this book again and again. Whether it is to read up on the individual essential oils or concepts of Traditional Chinese Medicine, this is a comprehensive guide to using essential oils for body, mind, spirit. Great for someone really diving into self-care. It even has an illustrated aromatherapy massage sequence.
This book is a beautiful combination of aromatherapy and TCM. There are many interesting historical notes about the plants that enhance the understanding of their uses in aromatherapy.
I really liked the connections made with the 5 elements of Chinese medicine. It gives a different perspective on how to approach which oils to choose. This book has me looking at the oils in different ways-yin, yang, which imbalanced elements they affect, etc. I'm going to reread this one or at least reference it as I feel that this added layer is helping me understand the oils more deeply. Not your run of the mill aromatherapy book- I recommend it.
This is about the connection between the vibration of the plants which produce the essential oils that many of us use and the effect they can have on our health--mental, emotional, spiritual. Cool charts about 5-element theory. I have this on hand as a reference.
i found all the yin yang info to be very interesting. i wish it had gone more into detail, but the info given was enough to make it understandable and easy to absorb. will have to find another book to heighten the research and go more in depth.
