There was no need at 68 to scroll through my youngers self's emotive innocence to appreciate Stella Perrot's 'Finding Magic'. This heartwarming story is one for all ages. Beautifully written, it inspires smiles, tears and cheers. I was sorry when I found 'the end'.

A pleasant read for the young reader. Mystery and intrigue and friendship bonds. When Lizzy comes across neglected pony she calls magic , she delves into his past life , uncovering why he was abandoned and more. Good writing and descriptive. I’m leaving my review voluntarily.

Just dropping by to share, from my own experience, that I would recommend this lovely book Finding Magic by Stella Perrott (and its sequel Finding Freeway) to be definitely worth considering as a gift for the YA readers in your life – and an unmissable hit if they’re into horses!, although it’s not a prerequisite. FYI the age groups of the main characters run from about 11 to 16, so there’s a connection for a range of readers there. I particularly liked the combination in both books of a) everyday life, family, friendships and feelings, b) unexpected questions / intrigue / mystery and adventure running along on the backburner, c) the intersection of times gone by with the present and d) very readable dialogue, descriptions and action scenes that keep the story rolling. And also, for the parent / grandparent / aunt (moi) etc who may be giving this book as a present it also invites, in what I found for this age group to be a constructive yet unobtrusive way, a little bit of contemplation about life and stuff as well. I have heard that there’s another sequel on the cards too which is great as it’s always nice to see kids getting tucked into a good series – and to have another gift up your sleeve for their next birthday or Christmas! Watch this space : )

A delightful, heart-warming story about a young teenage girl whose love of horses leads to the rescue of the neglected Magic and her friendship with the elderly owner. A few problems along the way give the story intrigue with solutions to find. Young teenager girls will love it.
