The Bayview Romances #3

Every Little Thing

Rate this book
The end isn’t the best time to realize you’ve been in love all along.

Bakery owner Harper has her secrets. She’s always kept to herself, constantly on a career climb that only she can see, with no one allowed close—except the one person in Bayview who won’t take no for an answer.

Paisley’s fallen into bed with Harper twice already over their years of friendship, but it’s never meant anything. Unless it has, in which case—well, she’d have to confront those feelings now, because Harper is on her way out of Bayview for good.

It’s too late now for the two of them to find all the things they could have been. But maybe the ending is the best time for a new beginning.

Every Little Thing is a 90,000-word small-town friends-to-lovers romance and the third and last book in the Bayview Romances trilogy. Features a cute small town with a big gay friend group, being in major denial about feelings, identity crises, reinventing yourself, and kissing your friend just because it’s fun and you feel like it, and it doesn’t necessarily mean anything, right? Content warnings for on-page sex scenes, some major family trauma, off-page death of a family member, survivor’s guilt, hospitalization relating to not eating, a lot of angst, Kay keeping secrets really really really well, and Paisley’s whole thing she’s got going on.

Finally we get to Paisley.....Paisley and Harper on again, off again, third time's the charm? If only their history was less drama and angst. Childhood trauma, secrets, sometimes the weight becomes unbearably heavy and we end up hurting the people we love.
There is much to unpack in Seabrooke's latest romance. The pacing is just right and Paisley with her quirkiness the perfect foil for Harper's reserved nature. Questions deserve answers and the hurting needs to be resolved. A fitting ending to the Bayview series with an unexpected twist - small town living with drama, gossip and unforgettable characters.
What will you come up with next, Lily?

The end to the Bayview Romances series could not be more perfect. I’ve been so so so excited for Paisley’s love story since I fell in love with her in the first book. So quirky, so hilarious, and just such a GOOD scruffy character. Lily Seabrooke blew my mind with this one - it is my favourite of the series!
The complexity and depth of both Harper and Paisley and their stories, their thoughts, and inner-workings are incredible. The way their POV’s were written was just so perfectly them. The twists and turns were riveting and surprising and gut-wrenching. The way they both love eachother, themselves, and their community was so sweet, and so endearing, and at times, hilarious. Paisley’s penchant for breaking and entering had me in stitches many times.
The spice was amaaaazing.
I give this one a full five stars and I’d give it more if I could. One of my all-time favourite books!!

Thank you so much for this gorgeous book!!!

Surprisingly spicy. These cute book covers are so deceiving. Paisley is such a menace that I just love it. The things that comes out of her mouth makes you go wtf? Lol

I really enjoyed this book because it's different in how the characters are portrayed. I haven't met a character like Paisley before and how she turns Harper into a flustering mess is adorable.

I need to go back and read book 1 and 2. I didn't realize it was a series until later so now I'm really hoping I didn't spoiled things for myself.

Recommend!

I don’t know how to review this novel! I liked it, a LOT. I love this author. This novel focuses on one of my favorite book characters ever (Paisley forever!!). The writing is great, the plotline is gold, the characters are outstanding, and I want to move to this town. There were a lot of delightful cameos (although the presence was so much, I don’t know if cameo is strong enough of a word) from past characters and the ensemble cast is one of the best I have seen. Its just….good. I highly recommend the first two novels, and if you have read those then you absolutely should read this one as well.

At the same time, its my least favorite of the three books. Explaining “why” though, is hard for me to place. There was something that was just a little “off” for me, and I had a little trouble connecting with the story. I had trouble connecting with the protagonists’ motivations in several key places. There isn’t anything big and specific that I can point to though…. so I guess that’s all there is to say.

My Rating: “A-”
Converted Rating: 5-Stars

This is a positive review, lol.

Oh wow, I loved this book! As with the other two in this series, this book is captivating and intriguing. Twists and turns throughout that leave you guessing (and needing to know what happens!). Of course in hindsight there are lots of hints but it kept me guessing just like Paisley. Both MCs are wonderfully frustrating and so very hot and sweet when together. The treehouse…ouch. Then the, oh wait I don’t want to give it away because it is SO worth reading!! I now want to start over with this series because I love these characters and Bayview. I will carry them in my heart for sure!.

When Paisley and Harper's relationship was first teased in book one, I knew I'd fall in love with them. Their dynamic seemed so chaotic and fun. And this book absolutely delivers. But their relationship is more than that, so much more than that. Paisley and Harper both have so, so much more depth than initially let on, and uncovering their hidden depths is a captivating, painful, and thrilling journey, one that I absolutely could not put down.

It's not just Paisley and Harper that are outstanding, either. Nobody wastes away into happily ever after. Every single character continues to grow and struggle, both in their romantic relationships and in their interpersonal ones. Literally every single major character from throughout the series is given a satisfying ending to their arcs, and I couldn't be happier with the way this series ended. I'm definitely not forgetting about Bayview anytime soon.

The latter half of this book takes some absolutely insane turns, ones I wouldn't dare spoil. So, spoilers below:

I'm probably rambling by now, but I absolutely adored this book. It's more than worth your time, especially if you've already read the previous two books (which you should, because they're also amazing). I'll be thinking (and crying, and smiling) about this book (and series) for a long time.

This series has been so much fun to read, and I've been highly anticipating Paisley's book ever since the start. She's just such a funny, but also loveable, character, and I really enjoyed reading her POV, as well as Harper's. It was also so much fun to see so much of all of the previous main characters in this installment. This small town truly has all of the sapphics, and it was a blast reading about them.

The best of three great books. Harper and Paisley, who are my favorite characters, are the focus for this book. Their journey is not an easy one. I loved how Paisley grows into her identity and becomes the hero of their journey. Harper has some deep secrets and associated guilt that drive her to acts that cause unspeakable pain for Paisley. With the help of the Bayview crew, Paisley is able regain her strength and help Harper to find her own true self.

This was a hard troublesome read at times and I found myself wondering how Lily would resolve the journey. She did, so it was hard to leave the series.

Highly recommended romance for those who need overwhelming chemistry, and characters who find the strength to give and receive grace.

(rounded down from 4.25)

Another (and final) instalment in this series. I really enjoyed spending time with these characters in this lovely small town. Paisley is still my favourite chaotic gremlin, but I think I enjoyed this less than other instalments for a few reasons (spoilered for some plot information):

*

*

*

Those things aside, for the vast part of the story, I appreciate the representation of emotionally repressed people who don't examine their feelings properly. I love Paisley as a chaotic gremlin, and that Harper loves every side of her, even when deeply exasperated with her.

Overall, a fantastic series with a really fun and engaging cast of characters and side stories.

Lily Seabrooke completes the Bayview Series with an emotionally chaotic yet page turning Series final. Characters reveal secrets, motivations and discover more than just love in unique thought-provoking ways, tied together by Seabrookes' amazing craft of intertwining juxtaposing emotions that just flow into one another.

One to be read at home, if not for the thigh-clenching spice, for the tears that may be shed or the expletives that may be said - And just maybe keep a stuffed toy on hand when the heartstrings get pulled just a tad too much!

A must-read. Not a doubt about it.

I received an ARC from the author through BookSprout and am voluntarily posting a review. All opinions are my own.
Every Little Thing is the third in Lily Seabrooke’s Bayview Romances, and the first I’ve read, although I do own the other two. I deeply wish I’d had time to read them, as there was some context to the dynamics to the friends group I felt I missed, but for the most part the book otherwise worked fairly well as a standalone. And I didn’t realize that this was the first time Seabrooke had written a complete series…I had followed another of her series prior, but I didn’t realize that it wasn’t officially “finished.”
I really liked both Harper and Paisley for the most part. Harper in particular is compelling in how guarded she is, and Paisley is just as complicated. While I did have tempered expectations, with it both being friends-to-lovers, with a bit of friends-with-benefits, I ended up mostly enjoying the execution. They can be frustrating, and they can be chaotic, but they’re also relatable and easy to root for nonetheless.
I did feel the pacing was a little rough in places, especially with the time jump, but I also appreciate that the characters were given time to grow, work things out, and come back to each other.
This was a sweet, yet steamy read, and now I’m excited to go back and read the other books. If you’re looking for a sapphic contemporary small-town romance, I’d recommend checking this out!

Lily Seabrooke concludes her three-book Bayview sapphic series with the story of bakery owner Harper and bookstore owner Paisley.

Seabrooke sets the novels and their intertwined cast of characters in the charming seaside town of Bayview.

Paisley’s family lives in the town, and her sister has recently moved back home. Not remotely a nine-to-fiver, Paisley operates her bookstore just as she lives her life — minute by minute, randomly, without any sort of schedule or plan.

She is the envious sister to Aria, best friend to Emberlynn, and the crazy, intruding, cheese-eating pal to Bayview’s cadre of lesbian couples. Paisley’s quirky behavior is characterized by funky outfits, referring to herself in the third person, and being more apt to enter Harper’s house through a window than through the door.

Harper is a transplant to Bayview, serious, withdrawn, hardworking, loyal, and a great listener. But Harper’s buried past prevents her from opening herself up to her friends and Paisley and maybe even push her to leave Bayview.

Out of Seabrooke’s three Bayview books, Every Little Thing ranks first with me because of the complexity of the two main characters, the novel’s surprising twist, and the repressed feelings Paisley and Harper have to acknowledge and process if they want to be together.

These are two women you want to see together.

3.5 stars. It’s hard to evaluate this one because I feel like I’m reviewing the series in its entirety, and that’s what brings it down. So first, this book. I enjoy these quirky characters, though they feel like they exist at extremes and so are more caricatures than real people. Both are so incredibly detached from themselves, and it’s hard to read and to watch how that affects their relationships. The twist at the end was intriguing, but also beyond my suspension of disbelief without some form of explanation. Overall, enjoyable, but definitely not my favorite Seabrooke work.

So what about the series? I like this little town with its very individual characters. The feeling and community of it are very well built, though I feel like details of place are lacking. But the thing that was terribly off putting is all three books essentially have the same exact plot told in marginally different ways. Maybe if I hadn’t read them back to back, it would have been alright. But realistically, it was an incredibly frustrating experience. Interesting characters and a good town will only take something so far when there is no variance in the overarching storylines. It’s disappointing because I feel like these characters deserve to be seen, but they aren’t given the opportunity to shine due to repetition.

The ending of this book blew my mind. I so did NOT see that one coming!

I'll be honest and admit that I initially struggled with this book (probably for about the first half) but acknowledge that part of the issue may lay with the fact that I haven't read the first two books in the series and was therefore not familiar with all of the background characters. Once I've had a chance to go back and read the earlier books I will likely come back to this review and will adjust it if I feel that I need to.

However, by about half way through the book I found myself completely invested in Harper and Paisley's story. I could tell that there was a lot of fear behind the decisions the MCs that was leading to the ongoing emotional chaos and I reached the point where I couldn't put the book down. I needed to know the full story and find out how they overcome the emotional battles that were holding them back.

Every Little Thing is a rollercoaster of a story full of quirky characters (none more so that Paisley!) that lives up to the old adage that sometimes you don't appreciate what you have until it's gone.

I definitely recommend this amazing book.

This was an amazing conclusion to the series. Paisley is the best! I couldn’t get enough of her finding her way in or out via trees and windows, and then deciding she needed to find herself and going about it. And Harper, she of many layers. There have been hints all along that all was not as it seemed, and the revelations were just perfectly paced to draw it out until the very end. Of course, everybody including the two characters pretty much know they’re meant to be together, but the secrets result in them fighting it so hard… Though it was perfectly wrapped in the humor and the occasional “accidental” fall into bed. While it felt gut-wrenching to watch the two of them circling around each other and then bouncing apart, somehow it was in a good way? Good angst, is that a thing?

Of course the entire cast was wonderful, and getting to know them over the last two books has been fantastic. Plus the small-town setting is charming, with new locations revealed as every bucket on their list is addressed. And the shops… and the parties… and coffees and cakes… and everything about the place, basically.

All in all this was a fantastic series, and what a way to end it. Oh and, don’t think I didn’t notice Paisley’s outfit on the cover!

This was soooo good I'm beyond surprised!
At first it took me a bit to get used to Paisley personality and since I didn't read the previous book I had no idea who was who
However, I found all the characters to be likeable and looking forward to their interactions.

This book broke and mended my heart.
Played with my feeling in a way I hadn't had before.

I loved so much Harper and Paisley relationship and both individually. I wish I had the dynamic they shared with their friends too. It's lovely to see character belong to a place.

There was a point through the reading I was so scared of the way it would end (around 81%), I went back for reviews to see if it could answer my question. When they didn't, I just decided to dive and hope for the best.
I'm glad I wasn't disappointed and I'm glad, somehow, even after scrolling through most of the reviews I did not spoil myself the plot twist jajaja

All in all, I'd ask you to consider reading this book. It's worth it.

After the plot twist, things that I found lacking of explanation started to made a lot of sense. Like why she keeps repeating "that's what Harper would do".
I'm not too bright so I never put two and two together. Kudos for those who did!

The Bayview series has been so much fun, and this third, and sadly, final entry in the series did not disappoint! I had been waiting for one of the earlier supporting characters, Paisley, to get her own story and was beyond joy when this I got this one into my hot little hands.

Paisley and Harper have danced around each other for years, with a couple of so-called hookups thrown into the mix, but have never anything beyond that for some reason...and now we get to learn why. Seeing both Paisley and Harper each come into their own, while still remaining the wonderful people we've known them to be, was truly beautiful. This story had me on a bit of an emotional rollercoaster, but seeing it pay off with the HEA made the journey that much sweeter. I won't go into more detail, as I don't want to spoil anything for other readers.

I highly recommend that folks read the entire series and you'll love getting to know the people who inhabit this small town and seeing everything culminate with this story, which is my absolute favorite, hands down.

Everything little thing

Bayview series is a masterpiece. I couldn't pinpoint why I loved it so much, but now I understand. Like the title, "Every Little Thing," make this series so extraordinary. Every book was focused on wildly different people, relationships, and stories. But it was all connected by this incredible Bayview family. They had one thing in common: all were so full of love.

This book broke me, Harper broke me. God, I was not expecting that. It's all makes so much sense now.
Paisley is fascinating, hilarious, and so free-spirited. Being in her POV was everything.
Harper and Paisley together are the sweetest, funniest couple. Their intimate moment was something else, very intense, so hot and sexy.
Priscilla terrifying people by reading their minds is absolutely hilarious.

Bayview series is full of life, and you're completely immersed in the community. I could write pages about everything this series has to offer, but please just go read it. It's so worth it.

A lovely ending to both this book and also the Bayview series.
Although I had read and enjoyed the 1st 2 books in this series it wasn’t the last thing I’d read so it took me a little while to get back with the cast of characters and remember who’s with who and what had gone on before. I definitely recommend reading them all in order to get the most out of the series. Paisley and Harper have a history that’s in previous books and I had been looking forward to their own story. I wasn’t disappointed with this angsty (and also surprising!) journey for them. I did think at times they were both a bit too irritating and in need of a good talking to… but then I was still totally rooting for them.
Easy recommend but read series in order.

Paisley is complicated and the beginning of the book makes it abundantly clear. Her relationship with Harper is sparky and Lily Seabrooke gets this so right in all the odd detail.
Makes you wonder how how much of Lily is actually portrayed in Paisley.
The character is quirky and somehow attractively refreshing in this story.

The heartbreaking could have have been more drawn out and even more painful but, thank goodness, Lily didn’t succumb to that temptation. I think she has just the right balance. Enough to bring a tear, though.
A very good read with some surprises and a beautiful love story at its heart.

This book is the last story in the Bayview romances series and it's definitely my favourite of all three. I recommend reading the books in order to get more of Paisley and Harper from the previous books but Every Little Thing can also be read as a standalone.

Paisley is such a quirky and chill character overall and I loved her POV chapters because of the depth she has that is not always easy to see from others' points of view. And she is just perfect for Harper: who was so withdrawn and had to go through so much to come into herself (the angst!).

I'm ready to read this book again just to see all the hints I might've missed with regards to the big secret (and it was such a twist!) and I can't wait for the next series from the author.

This is the final book in the series and also my favourite. Paisley and Harper have been hinted at during the last two books and finally their story is told.
Paisley is hilarious. Her use of first person like Paisley is always right makes me laugh out loud. She’s an enigma.
Harper on the other hand is closed off and the complete opposite of Pais.
The story had highs and lows but it was all necessary to explain what was really going on especially with Harper. I recommend the whole series if you like small towns, cosy stories and cute characters.

Since this is the final book in this series, each reader will be familiar with both Paisley and Harper. There is so much love and humor in this book that I really enjoy, but it is the complexity of their emotions and fears, and the secrets they hold on to for so long that truly showcase the tremendous impact on their community of friends, neighbors and each other. Their journey at times was absolutely gut-wrenching!

Paisley's story is the icing on the cake for this Bayview series. I believe she is the quirkiest character I have ever read and Lily Seabrooke has a way with words like no other author I have read before. Although I don't know the author personally, my guess is there's a lot of her in this very unique character. This book does have Every Little Thing!

Different but exactly what I needed!

This one was a bit different from Seabrookes usually. It had all the same elements I guess, but all in intriguing ways. Absolutely the same vibe over all, so if you love that as much as I do this will do it for you. This one is a little twistier, and little funnier, though a little less polished in some ways, but it all came together to unveil a really sweet and meaningful story. Also, Paisley might be my favorite character of Seabrooke's, and on my list of favorite characters ever.
As someone who is *extra* I love meeting other extra people, even (sometimes especially) when they are also *extra*.

Well Lily, you've done it again. What a roller coaster ride! I loved this story and wanted more of it. Who wouldn't love Paisley and.... Didn't see the plot twist coming either! Such well rounded characters, great storytelling and I laughed out loud in places, but also wanted to cry at others. Just sad this is the end of Bayview.
All in all, a fantastic end to an amazing series of books. Thank you Lily, for taking me along on this ride. More please!.

I was so excited to finally read Paisley's love story and it did not disappoint at all. I loved every second of this wild ride, even the sad parts that broke my heart a little. Paisley is one of my favorite characters in any book I've ever read and I loved seeing her transform throughout the book - and that's not even touching on the transformation her love interest went through. 👀 I have adored the whole Bayview series and I'm sad to see it end but this book was truly a fantastic send-off to the amazingly queer little town. Bayview will live in my heart forever.

Talk about a plot twist—For a plot no one knew was going on and couldn’t care less about. The romance between Harper and Paisley is whimsical and frustrating, doubling back and looping around in an endless cycle of kissing your friends and pretending the ILYs are platonic. I liked how comic relief Paisley finally got her own book and dug deep into her character.

I just wish I actually paid attention to Harper in the last two books. Also, this is the fourth audiobook I’ve listened to by Ellie Goosage and her sassy, conversational voice is amazing!

This book was a great story. Very different than most of the LGBT romances I've read before. Both Harper and Paisley were written very well and had a lot of depth. The push and pull of their relationship was enticing and keep my on my toes.
I'd recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Lily Seabrooke and has read the other books in the Bayview Romances (though it could be read as a stand alone).
