He is hiding secrets. Everyone is wearing a mask. Allegra Rivas leaves her previous life in Holbrook and moves to Los Angeles. The death of a young and talented actor is the new case that Allegra and her new colleague, Connor Martin, try to resolve as quickly as possible. Brutally murdered with stones and stabbed to death, Michele Avalos causes a wave of more murders. But was the Hollywood's good boy who he claimed to be? Everything in this case is a series of coincidences or a well-played act.
I am Vanya Kostadinova but write under the pen name Ava Cortez. I have master degrees in Biotechnology and Marketing. In University have taken several short courses in Anthropology and Criminology. My dream was to be a criminal biologist, and that dream carried over into writing crime novels. I could not yet call myself a writer, although I have the honour my first book to be nominated for the Annual Awards for contribution to the Bulgarian literary context "Feather". I love travels, books and mysteries.
"Second on the left" reunites us with Detective Allegra Rivas, who has left Holbrook and moved to Los Angeles. Her current case is the murder of the "good boy" of Hollywood - Michele Avalos. He is constantly hounded by paparazzi and nothing about his personal life is a secret, but still there are many unknowns about the murder. The young actor was brutally murdered. Who is the culprit? Nothing is as it seems. But what is it really? Will there be more victims? Vanya Kostadinova has a flair for tense thrillers and is not afraid to present any crime to us in the most brutal way. In this story, she again unravels the characters of the participants to the smallest detail, and we are aware of their motives and provocations. This time almost the denouement was a surprise to me. What I like most about the author's books is that, in addition to a tense criminal case, we also have an important topic that is solved. In "I Was There" it was about violence against women, and here it is about domestic violence. Again, a very painful topic on which we are all supposedly in agreement, but bad examples keep popping up everywhere. In fact, the author really pays attention to the inner motivations of the characters, and because of this, the books predispose to reflections on various topics. I hope to see this title in Bulgarian as well, even at a later stage. I believe that fans of this type of literature in our country will enjoy the series about Allegra Rivas.
Michele Avalos is a super famous actor who is followed by paparazzi and fans everywhere. But when an accident happens to him, no one noticed anything at all… Allegra Rivas has been a detective for many years. Together with their new colleague, they try to solve a more special murder... The book unfolds in a fascinating way, keeping readers engaged from start to finish. The characters are extremely well developed. The clues, situations and cues fit perfectly into the final picture of this exciting thriller. The author delves into the topics of domestic violence and protecting those closest to us. Her ability to evoke emotion and empathy is truly remarkable, making Second On The Left a compelling read that lingers long after the last page is turned... . 📜Favorite quote: . 📍We need to look towards the future more often, and not the past, to change ourselves and not others and the world will be different.
