I could not yet call myself a writer, although I have the honour my first book to be nominated for the Annual Awards for contribution to the Bulgarian literary context "Feather". "Second on the left" reunites us with Detective Allegra Rivas, who has left Holbrook and moved to Los Angeles. Her current case is the murder of the "good boy" of Hollywood - Michele Avalos. He is constantly hounded by paparazzi and nothing about his personal life is a secret, but still there are many unknowns about the murder. The young actor was brutally murdered. Who is the culprit? Nothing is as it seems. But what is it really? Will there be more victims?
Vanya Kostadinova has a flair for tense thrillers and is not afraid to present any crime to us in the most brutal way. In this story, she again unravels the characters of the participants to the smallest detail, and we are aware of their motives and provocations. This time almost the denouement was a surprise to me.
What I like most about the author's books is that, in addition to a tense criminal case, we also have an important topic that is solved. In "I Was There" it was about violence against women, and here it is about domestic violence. Again, a very painful topic on which we are all supposedly in agreement, but bad examples keep popping up everywhere. In fact, the author really pays attention to the inner motivations of the characters, and because of this, the books predispose to reflections on various topics.
I hope to see this title in Bulgarian as well, even at a later stage. I believe that fans of this type of literature in our country will enjoy the series about Allegra Rivas.
