i loved this one so much!! i’ve been in a major slump for the last month and this was the first book i was able to finish in weeks. read it in one sitting couldn’t put it down!
i obviously love the cowboy vibe, but there’s a bit of crime/suspense as well that kept me locked in. he just got out of prison (oop!) and she’s a good girl, the mayor’s daughter 😌 she’s also his little brother’s ex girlfriend hehe. he’s back on his family’s ranch, and she’s now working there. the tension + forced proximity was sooo good. he tries so hard to stay away from her but she’s also the only one who keeps his nightmares away ❤️🩹

MJ never misses!! this book is something i’ve never seen done from her. it’s a whole different vibe from her other books and i absolutely loved it. it was a perfect series opener. this story is about friendship, family, love and trust. i loved the suspense in this book, so much was happening that it kept you on your toes. Rosie and Holdens relationship packs some heat fr. their chemistry was perfect, the sexual tension was sizzling and the banter had me giggling. i also really loved the family dynamic between the 4 brothers, i can’t wait to see what else MJ has in store for this series!
Rosie Dixon: She has been bestfriends with Holdens sister Dolly since they were children and even dated his younger brother Duke. Rosie is considered the good girl and is also the mayors daughter, who is the rival of the Redford family. but that doesn’t stop Rosie from working at the Redford Ranch to help her bestfriend. Rosie has such a good heart and would do anything for the people she loved.

Holden Redford: the oldest Redford sibling! he was just released from prison after 3 years, that the mayor put him in. he is broody as hell and fights his true feelings for Rosie so hard. he’s always been infatuated with her since the little incident in the barn before he went to prison but he is also very suspicious of her & didn’t trust her because of what her dad did. he is so soft for her, he is protective and would do anything for her. i loved how he wasn’t afraid to be vulnerable with her…the way he can’t sleep without her or else his nightmares come back. my fkn heart 🥹
the epilogue was sooo 🥹🤭😍

There are things I loved about this. There are other things kept me cold.
The first monumental encounter between MCs, was when FMC saw the MMC having a blowjob. The experience made her shy of course but it was erotic nonetheless and that's when the FMC made up her mind about her current relationship. Even though she was on good terms with her boyfriend she felt nothing physical for him and did not want to give him her virginity. Who's that boyfriend you might ask?
It's the MMC's younger brother hahah.
Anyway, on the same day she saw the blowjob thing, MMC killed her uncle! Wild right! Well her uncle was a piece of shit pedophile who attempted to rape the MMC's younger sister.
All of that happened in the prologue, and the story kicks off after 3 years and a half when the MMC is out of the prison. And the FMC is working on his ranch as a housekeeper.
Even though MMC lusted over her he did not know that she's no longer his brother's girlfriend and he was soooo mean to her saying that she's sloppy seconds while the girl was a damn virgin.

3.5 stars! Untamed is the first book in the Redford Ranch series. It gives western cowboy vibes, but also has a romantic suspense element! Family rivalry, ranch setting, forced proximity, she’s a good girl + the mayor’s daughter, he’s a bull rider who just got out of prison + is her ex’s older brother!
Rosie Dixon + Holden Redford! She’s the mayor’s daughter and his brother’s ex. He just got out of prison early after his conviction was overturned for killing her uncle, and let’s just say he has it out for her dad too. There is also some major underlying tension between Rosie and Holden and now they’re around one another a ton! She works on his family’s ranch as the housekeeper and cook. He realizes very quickly that he’s pulled to her and how he can sleep when she’s around, so he makes her an offer: sleep next to him four nights of the week and he’ll pay her extra!
This is slow burn but with a lot of tension brewing between them! Rosie hasn’t felt safe in a long time and craves that stability of feeling like someone has her back, which is of course Holden. This had maybe too much going on, but overall I enjoyed the read.

3.75⭐️ really liked this one!!!!! It always makes me chuckle at what little feminism I have when reading about a virginal fmc. Even if we’re reminded every other page she’s a 23 year old virgin with a 22 in waist and 32F cup size😂 The ending was a bit anticlimactic but I loved this authors writing and can’t wait for the next one!

Holden & Rosie’s relationship had a lot of complicated and forbidden twists, but they couldn’t help but be drawn towards one another time and time again — despite all the reasons they should be staying away. The tension and chemistry between them was so palpable it was insane! I adored seeing a hot, brooding cowboy get soft for the girl he loves.
This book also had a suspense element to it that I didn’t expect, but it was a nice surprise nonetheless! I was basically glued to my Kindle because I just kept having to find out what would happen next. And the suspense brought out the sheer protective side that Holden had over Rosie which was a huge bonus in my book 🤭
All in all, this was such a unique take on a hot cowboy romantic suspense read that I definitely recommend trying out! It’s a new direction that MJ’s taken based on other books I’ve read by her, but I’m already eagerly waiting for more. And the rest of this series is supposed to follow the rest of Holden’s family so consider me already sat! 😍

I was just looking for a cowboy romance and found something better...a suspenseful novel that was also western. I ate the book up. All of the characters were so good and how the FMC didn't back down was a nice change. My mouth dropped in the beginning and by the end I was just a smiling, bubbly mess for Dixon and Redford!

I think I probably thought to myself “the plot thickens” about 50 times during this read. It kept getting deeper and darker and more complex with every chapter. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time wondering who was gonna say or do what next. @mjhendrixauthor are you sure this isn’t a thriller? 🤣

this was alright! honestly there was so much going on in this book that it was hard to focus on certain things, but i did somehow read this mostly in one sitting, which is a feat of itself considering i’m slowly entering a slump mode.
the plot was entertaining, although very messy. i feel like so much was repeated and contradictory. or sometimes the author would write something and then completely brush over it later. i honestly was not a fan of holden at all. he was just a jerk who didn’t have any positive interactions with women outside of rosie or dolly, his sister. every reference to women from his perspective made it seem like they had one purpose, which was to be fucked. it just felt gross to me.
not to mention that when they first slept together - when he took her virginity - he questioned whether it was okay for him to do that even though he didn’t want to be with her romantically/relationship wise. and then did it anyways. and then seemed to regret it afterwards. like??? he said that he held the fact that he loved rosie from her pretty well, but he also did that from the readers, too. they had sexual chemistry for sure but romantic? could not get behind it at all.
also rosie…. is a fucking idiot. i’m sorry. they’re essentially on the run to stop holden from being wrongfully accused of kidnapping and yet she tells her family where they are going? like girl. read the room. why the fuck would she do that?! it pissed me off too much. this girl had like no backbone or personality whatsoever.
idk. i didn’t massively hate this but i also didn’t love it whatsoever. it held my attention enough for me to read it in one sitting, and it was entertaining enough. not a fan of this book, but i will say i’m interested in the next book 👀 bodyguard romance with what seems to be the better redford brother and a famous country singer? will definitely be checking that out (if i remember lol)

Shoutout to Logan for another great rec. I was definitely intrigued when she posted about this book yesterday and immediately ran to download it. This was my first book by this author and I can tell you right now I’ll be right back here the second the next book drops!
I really enjoyed the way the events of that night were gradually revealed. Add in the mystery plot, people disappearing, getting taken… I was SAT! I think it was quite clear who was behind everything but it was still a great journey regardless. The feud between the Redfords & Dixons was interesting too but I think we can all agree with absolute certainty that Clay is power hungry, whiny brat, bitch boy 😌✨
Holden & Rosie’s relationship started off rocky at best. I completely understood why he was weary of her but I feel like a few conversations could have cleared a lot of things up. The way he thought he hated her but also wanted her in equal measure was delicious and I loved how she stood her ground anytime he tried to get rid of her. He tried his best to stay away but couldn’t, he needed her and the way he softened towards her and became incredibly protective was definitely my favourite part. I did get a little frustrated with Rosie around the 85% mark with some of the choices she made but it didn’t take away from how much I enjoyed the story overall.

There is so much to love about this book!!!
Rosie has been friends with Dolly forever. She dated her brother Duke but has always had a crush on Holden. When Holden is released from prison that crush becomes stronger and more.
Holden isn’t happy when he learns Rosie is working at the ranch. He doesn’t trust her because her father is the reason he went to jail and all that happened while he was locked up. His thoughts slowly change as time goes by. When Rosie is kidnapped he does everything he can to find her and keep her safe.
A story of friendship, family (the good and bad sides) and love.
Rosie has been friends with Dolly forever. She dated her brother Duke but has always had a crush on Holden. When Holden is released from prison that crush becomes stronger and more.

This book RUINED men for me. RUINED. Screw a tattoo, I want a man that’ll brand himself for me like cattle and look me dead in the eye while doing it. I need delusion, obsession, and morally questionable choices wrapped in muscle and trauma.
The plot? Who cares. The writing? Irrelevant. The man? UNHINGED and PERFECT. I was giggling, kicking my feet, and simultaneously planning how to fake my own kidnapping just to get his attention.
This isn’t just a book. It’s a spiritual awakening with a side of psychosis.
10/10 would abandon all morals and common sense again.

i’m going between a 4.25 and 4.5
the best part about being a reader has got to be seeing random tik toks and reading books you’ve never heard of. i saw one scene from this book that wasn’t even that enticing to me but i read the synopsis and i was in. i am not a dark romance girl and this isn’t one but the main character has been to jail. he was amazing so we don’t care though.
this book gave what every other romantic suspense book i’ve read tried to. i have never got the pull to this type of story but holden and rosie convinced me. they were so good together. like the tension was good, the nightmare trope was done amazingly, and they were hot. i can’t explain what was so addicting about this book but i genuinely couldn’t stop reading. i just wanted to see what would come of the mystery and how the characters would fall for each other. the love i have for holden is slightly worrying because he’s a bit scary but we’re ignoring that.
rosie being a virgin was slightly odd to me, just like how it was handled. and some of the other sex scenes were kinda at weird times. it didn’t make me super uncomfortable i just noticed and thought it was weird. i have now fallen into ANOTHER small town cowboy series. it’s becoming a problem but we’ll ignore it because the next book in this series is a bodyguard x country singer which is gonna be good.

i read this book in one day!! it was so addicting & i couldn’t put it down! between the forbidden aspect, the enemies-to-lovers vibes, the tension, and all the past history between the families this book really captures your attention and holds on tight!
holden & rosie are so hot!! they had so much build up, tension, and angst throughout the whole story and it did not disappoint! rosie is holden’s little brothers ex girlfriend and he shouldn’t want her but cant help himself. he tried so hard to avoid her but she is truly already under his skin!
this book had an unexpected suspense plot line mixed in and i honestly ate it up. it added another element that the characters had to overcome and was so much fun figuring out what was happening when things started to take a turn.
overall this book was quite bingeable and truly just a good time! it was a quick read filled with amazing found family vibes and lots of angst and wanting between the main characters! would definitely recommend if you’re in the mood for a cowboy romance!

Holden is the oldest of the Redford siblings. He was just released from prison after three years that the mayor put him in.
When he does get home he finds Rosie working on the ranch. He can’t believe everyone is ok with her working for the family. He is very suspicious of her. Is she there to spy on him for her father as he is the reason why he went to prison. He does not trust her. He wants her gone. Plus she is also his brother’s ex girlfriend. The one thing he learned while in prison is to keep his enemies close and what better revenge for the mayor is to steal his daughter.
I really enjoyed this new book and the first of the series by MJ. I couldn’t put it down and I stayed up late to finish it. I couldn’t wait to flip the page to see what happens next. I like the chemistry Rosie has not only with Holden but with his entire family.

Wait. Soooo pleasantly surprised oh my god. There was honestly nothing I didn’t like about this book, the angst lasted long and I love that! The underlying crime plot line was so good and added a good amount of complexity to an otherwise very common story line. I genuinely loved this book so much and the character backgrounds were awesome!

Read this book so fast! I was so stuck on it that it was all I wanted to do. Rosie and Holden’s relationship is so captivating. If you love a good book with enemies to lovers, love triangle between two brothers, and falling for the best friends brother, I recommend this one! Not to mention everything else in the book which I won’t spoil!

this was a good introduction into the family and dynamics however the suspense felt very overwhelming. rosie was kind of naive with who she trusted specially knowing the dangerous stuff that had happened. holden was a very mid character and not very dimensional. i am looking forward to trying out the second book when it comes out!

Gahhhhhh! Holden Redford has my heart. Bad@$$ cowboy, chivalrous, prior criminal for good reason, would do ANYTHING to protect her. Loved the entire story on this one with the family rivalry and the suspense and romance and all of it!
