Growing up with addict parents and extreme neglect, Jensen Chambers learned early to only depend on himself.
A family was something he’d never thought he’d have, but the people at the Resting Warrior Ranch have become exactly that. Yeah, Garnet Bend is about as small as towns come, but big cities never did him any favors anyway.
So when Kenzie Hurst—with her manicured nails and stilettos that obviously don’t belong in Montana—shows up with trouble on her high heels, Jensen isn’t going to just sit by.
This is family. This is his town.
He’ll be dåmned if he’ll let outside danger destroy the peace they’ve worked so hard to build.
But when the mysterious beauty needs protection only Jensen can provide, he can’t turn her away. She may wear Prada, but her sweet smile and engaging laugh is drawing him in.
Making him want to keep her around permanently. High heels and all.
Someone wants Kenzie dead, but Jensen—and the Resting Warrior Ranch team—are about to show her that around here, they look out for their own.
Jensen and Kenzie aren’t quite Country Mouse and City Mouse, but it’s pretty darned close. I hated to see what it was that had brought Kenzie to the attention of the Resting Warriors, but I kind of adored watching as she and Jensen fell for one another. I had a feeling I knew who was behind the issues Kenzie was having, and I wasn’t wrong. But holy moly! There were a lot of the details that I wasn’t in any way prepared for. I also suspect that during the resolution, we saw the lead up to a future book in the series. I wish this book weren’t over already because I need more Resting Warriors, right now! I received a complimentary advance copy of this book from the author.
The book was good, but I was expecting more of the suspense part. It just fell flat there for me & I found myself struggling to get through some parts.
Kenzie Hurst has a stalker. She is advised to leave Denver, and the detective there suggests Garnet Bend, Montana, population 2518. Kenzie is a city girl, a bit out of place, so rural.
Jensen is a local mechanic and woodworker. When he goes to fix Kenzie's car, he can see a variety of sabotage, some of which might have become fatal. The grumpy introvert becomes protective, and barters marketing services from Kenzie. Keeps her nearby, and promotes his business.
Each of the characters has a past, and is very relatable. As the danger increases, and feelings deepen the reader is treated to a sizzling romance, and intriguing suspense. An excellent read.
**I am voluntarily leaving my honest review of this book**
Once more we're back to the rqnch where trouble keeps poping up.
Jenson is a closed book. He doesn't like changes and when Kenzie comes to town, he's take a back. He never though he would find someone he'd want for himself but something about Kenzie speaks to him and he'll move heaven and earth for her to be safe and his!
Love the series. A great community that takes care of their own. This particular novel focuses on silent, but strong type of hero with an extroverted social heroine and their contrasting personalities made the book so lively and fun. The suspense and twist was unexpected. Very enjoyable and highly recommended.
This was another exciting visit to Garnet Bend, Montana, and the world of Resting Warrior Ranch. As usual, with this author's books, I was immediately drawn into the story and hooked to the finish.
Kenzie is a very successful commercial real estate agent in Denver who also gives seminars on how to grow a business. She is a city girl to the bone, but when she has a stalker whose threats escalate, the police send her to tiny Garnet Bend to lay low while they investigate. She arrives in town and immediately has car trouble. The sheriff sends her to Jensen, the town mechanic.
Jensen had a rough childhood, but meeting Lucas was a bright spot. They maintained their friendship through the years, and when Jensen came to a crossroads after his time as a security consultant, Lucas invited him to Garnet Bend. Jensen has a garage where he works on cars and is a talented wood carver.
When Jensen notices some suspicious trouble with Kenzie's car, he consults his friends at the Resting Warrior Ranch. They all agree that the sheriff needs to know about it (he knows about Kenzie's stalker problem). Jensen agrees that he should be her first line of defense since he is nearest Kenzie's location and unattached. Meanwhile, the other RWR men put their talents to use in helping uncover the identity of her stalker and provide extra protection.
The intensity grows when it becomes evident that Kenzie's stalker has found her. Threatening messages and physical attacks keep everyone on edge as they try to protect her. I was glued to the pages as the attacks escalated. The final confrontation had a twist I didn't see coming and kept me flipping pages as fast as I could read. The twist in the resolution was unexpected, and I can't wait for the next book.
I enjoyed watching the relationship between Kenzie and Jensen develop. They are such different people it was hard to see how they could become a couple. Kenzie is a city girl who likes the hustle and bustle of the city, the culture, and being close to her friends. She is outgoing and friendly. She doesn't look forward to her time there, expecting extreme boredom. Meanwhile, Jensen is quiet, not very sociable, and downright grumpy until he's had sufficient coffee in the morning. He's also honorable, a good friend, and has a heart bigger than he lets on.
Kenzie and Jensen have one thing in common. Both have trust issues - Jensen because of his childhood and Kenzie because of a relationship that turned out badly. However, it doesn't take them long to form a connection. Jensen's protective instincts kick in when he discovers the danger Kenzie is in. I loved how he understood her need to occupy her time with something productive and invited her to set up his social media sites for his woodworking business. Neither could deny the attraction that was building between them. Could they give into it without being hurt when Kenzie returns to Denver? I loved the ending and look forward to seeing more of them in future books.
I loved seeing characters from the previous books. They aren't thrown in just to connect this book to the series; they play vital roles in the story. I loved how the men immediately jumped in to help. The women made Kenzie part of their group without blinking an eye. It was fun to see Kenzie included in the RWR Sunday dinner tradition and its effect on her and Jensen.
I was excited to revisit Garnet Bend and the men at Resting Warrior Ranch. This book introduces new characters, while existing characters drop into the story as well, making this a lovely blend of new and old characters. The returning characters also help to provide continuity of the Resting Warrior universe.
Jensen, a security specialist, leaves a job he hates to set up shop as a mechanic in Garnet Bend, much to the benefit of Garnet Bend and happiness of the Resting Warrior family. He's known the men for years, but now is able to be nearby to help in their efforts to support PTSD sufferers. Having come from a rough background himself, growing up with addict parents mainly in foster care, he appreciates and supports the need for the types of therapy and services that the Resting Warrior Ranch provides. As a result of his own past, he's a bit gruff and antisocial, but is a great man at heart.
Kenzie comes to Garnet Bend to hide from a stalker while the police in her hometown of Denver try to track down who has been harassing her. When her car refuses to behave, she takes it to Jensen's shop to be repaired. Both Jensen and Kenzie feel a connection when they meet, but both fight it - Jensen believes Kenzie to be out of his league and Kenzie only plans to remain in town until her stalker is caught. However, their best laid plans are thrown right out the window when the danger presented by Kenzie's stalker follows her to the small town.
Jensen is determined to protect Kenzie and help to find the culprit along with the help of the Resting Warrior family. Kenzie is immediately welcomed into the town as well as the found family at the ranch, and they always protect their family. Not only do friendships between Kenzie and other residents of the town and ranch evolve to create a fully developed environment for the story, her relationship with Jensen intensifies as well.
I really enjoyed Jensen's character. He is a man who knows himself - gruff, antisocial, introverted and private. He is willing to step outside of his comfort zone to help Kenzie and hopefully get to know the woman who has entranced him. He is also willing to work hard to overcome those character traits that he sees as flaws to be better for her. He is loving, protective and determined, all great qualities.
Kenzie is a strong female lead character in this story. She has made a name for herself in real estate, starting her own company and teaching large scale seminars around the region. She has been very successful in business, taking advantage of her naturally social qualities and innate intelligence. While she is a great businesswoman, I liked the fact that she allowed herself to be vulnerable to Jensen and accept his care an support.
The chemistry between the characters is intense and well-written. The story moves forward at a good pace and will leave the reader guessing about the identity of the stalker until the end. Five stars for this protector romance.
Trigger warning: Mention of past domestic violence appears in this story.
This is an honest, voluntary review of an ARC of the story.
MONTANA HEAT is the ninth instalment in Josie Jade’s contemporary, adult, RESTING WARRIOR RANCH romantic suspense series originally co-authored by Josie Jade and Janie Crouch. This is Denver Colorado realtor MacKenzie ‘Kenzie’ Hurst, and auto mechanic Jensen Chamber’s story line.
NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Jensen and Kenzie) MONTANA HEAT follows Kenzie Hurst’s arrival in Garnet Bend, Montana. Kenzie Hurst has a stalker, and the Denver Police suggest our heroine go into hiding, recommending Garnet Bend, Montana, where she will fall under the protection of the Resting Warrior Ranch members but all is not well upon Kenzie’s arrival in Garnet Bend, someone has tampered with her car, and the possibility of her stalker has followed her from home. Meeting and falling for mechanic Jensen Chambers was something Kenzie never thought possible having experienced heart break at the hands of a former lover. When the attacks against Kenzie become more dangerous and dark, Jensen and the men at the WRR find themselves on the hunt for Kenzie’s stalker.
The world building follows several paths including a look back at both Jensen and Kenzie’s pasts: Jensen’s life as the child of addicted parents; and Kenzie’s life in the face of an abusive ex.
The relationship between Kenzie and Jensen begins when Kenzie’s car breaks down upon her arrival in Garnet Bend. Jensen is determined to protect Kenzie from the darkness that follows but Kenzie finds herself facing the unknown, and a past that refuses to let go. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate.
We are introduced to Kenzie’s ormer boyfriend Alan Ard: Jada Moyer Banks; and the return of Jensen’s friend Lucas Everett (Montana Sanctuary) ; deputy Lachlan Callaway; police chief Charlie Garcia; and several characters from the Resting Warrior Ranch series.
MONTANA HEAT is a story of secrets and lies; power and control; betrayal and vengeance; obsession and madness; acceptance and love. The premise is intriguing, thrilling and dramatic; the romance is seductive; the characters are determined and dynamic.
Josie Jade returning to her first series is beyond amazing because I fell in love with all of the Resting Warrior Ranch men and women. This return to her roots is a complete page turner filled with all of the elements that make this series a favorite of mine. Jensen was just existing in his life until Lucas made him an offer he couldn’t refuse in Garnet Bend. Jensen loves working with his hands and taking things apart however he’s the true artist with his woodworking. Kenzie must find solace in Garnet Bend for a while due to some serious issues in her personal life that have affected her professional life as well. They say in life you won’t make changes until you get uncomfortable, however sometimes those changes can be terrifying. Jensen has no idea what to make of Kenzie especially after the chief of police calls to alert him that she’s coming by his garage for her vehicle. Kenzie can’t wait to return to her life, she’s desperate for it but could fate be trying to show her that her life needs to be shaken up for good? Jensen definitely judges Kenzie’s book cover before giving her a chance to show him who she is. However will her troubles be too much for them to handle and move past? Jensen may not see how fate could bring him Kenzie when they are vastly different, but like magnet opposites definitely attract. Will Jensen and Kenzie make it in time or will they be too late? Hatred and revenge are two of the harshest emotions to have and when they are mixed with a level of psychosis you have a deadly combination. This book had me from the first moment I started reading it, I will lose sleep over reading this series because they are that amazing! If you haven’t been introduced to Resting Warrior Ranch now is as good as time as any to meet these fiercely strong men and women. I’m beyond excited to realize we will be getting to revisit Resting Warrior Ranch again soon……
This is another heartwarming romantic suspense about Kenzie and Jensen, two completely opposite personalities, , who have nothing in common with each other. In spite of this, they immediately realize that they have such strong chemistry with each other that they can completely ignore their differences. , Kenzie is a very outgoing realtor who has spent her life in the city. Jensen is a mechanic who lives and works in the small town of Garnet Bend. He spends most of his time working with other former military men at the Resting Warrior Ranch for troubled veterans. Jensen to spend most of his time alone, or with the SEALS and military families who has adopted as his only family.
Unfortunately, Kenzie has left her home and job to escape an evil stalker who is violently threatening her. He seems to find her no matter where she goes. She is scared to death and has no idea what to do. However, the sheriff in her last location suggests that she move to Garnet Bend. They have a great police force. Plus, the former SEALs and military men working at the ranch would be a great help to keep Kenzie safe and to find her stalker.
As it turns out, the SEALs and their wives are so caring and friendly, Kenzie feels safe under their care solicitude.” Of course, Jensen’s feelings are so strong for Kenzie, he actually becomes her own private bodyguard and detective as well as her lover.
Readers will love reading this fast-paced romantic suspense where Josie Jade creates one very evil stalker. This stalker does everything he can to scare Kenzie senseless as an agonizing way to warn her about his oncoming plans to kill her.
On the other hand, In spite of the stalker’s ominous threats, the loving couple’s tenderness, respect, and devotion for each other often overshadows the stalker’s awful actions.
This is a beautiful, uplifting love story about two deserving and loveable characters!
Montana Heat by Josie Jade Resting Warrior Ranch Series
Kenzie’s life is in danger and she has few to trust until she finds herself in Garnet Bend, Montana where she finds a supportive community, retired military heroes, and the perfect protective potential partner to spend the rest of her life with.
What I liked: * Jensen Chambers: difficult childhood, raised in foster homes, met Lucas who is like a brother to him, ex-military, security skills, mechanic and woodworker, friend, protector, has trust issues, quiet but not grumpy, a truly good person * Kenzie Hurst: Denver native, successful real estate salesperson, has a public image as a trainer and lecturer on business and real estate, loves her parents, good friends, doesn’t see herself in a small town, anxiety attacks with PTSD * Susanna: Jensen’s office manager, friendly, quirky, knitter, good friend * Catching up with how some of the previous characters are doing * The mystery of who the stalker is and what their reason is for wanting to hurt or kill Kenzie * The plot, pacing, setting, and writing * The way the Resting Warriors come together to take care of “family” * That all of the threads of the story were tied up by the last page of the book
What I didn’t like: * Who and what I was intended to dislike * That the baddies weren't all found and dealt with
Did I like this book? Yes Would I read more by this author? Yes
Thank you to the author for the ARC – This is my honest review.
Mackenzie “Kenzie” Hurst, successful Denver realtor, is on the run when her social media online threats progress to actual threats on her life. She needs somewhere safe, but hadn’t realized how remote it would be in small-town Garnet Bend, Montana. Checking in with the local sheriff she realizes that her car is acting up and is directed to the local garage and mechanic Jensen Chambers. Jensen is used to being on his own, taking care of himself from a young age. He enjoys working with his hands, his woodworking and his friends at Resting Warrior Ranch. He hadn’t planned on meeting someone like Kenzie, someone from the city who is polished and definitely not for him. When he realizes that her car had been tampered with, he is amazed that she made it safely to town, but maybe she wasn’t meant to? She is used to being in control of her life, but as she spends time with Jensen, helping him with a web site, she is attracted to him and his quiet strength. They know that the feelings growing between them isn’t wise, but when her rental is no longer safe, will relocating to his remote cabin keep them safe? I loved the emotions between Kenzie and Jensen and the beautiful end to this amazing series! I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (paytonpuppy)
This is the ninth book in this series. They can be read as standalone books can be read as standalone books. Jensen is quiet and a bit antisocial. He had a hard childhood. The people of Resting Warrior are his made family. Kenzie has come to Garnet Bend to hide. She just wants her issue to be done and over so she can go home to her family and friends. But of course it won't be that simple. Things quickly start to happen here and Garnet Bend as well. Jensen and the guys from Resting Warrior don't hesitate to help her and the sheriff. Jensen and Kenzie quickly gravitate towards each other. They are complete opposites but he is first person to make her feel safe and not crazy since everything started. But could they have a future? Kenzie wants to go back to Denver not stay in Garnet Bend but as things progress and she gets to know Jensen she begins to change her mind. Jensen wanted Kenzie the moment he saw her but figured she wasn't his type or that she was out of her league. What would she see in a small town mechanic. This book is a fantastic read. I love this series so much. Josie is wonderful author and I always love her books. Both Kenzie and Jensen and great characters. Kenzie is going through something crazy and the conclusion is even crazier. I can't wait for the next book in the series.
This felt like a new chapter in the Resting Warrior Ranch series. The characters were Resting Warrior adjacent, and while still being included in the Resting Warrior family, they weren’t a part of the operation at the ranch. There was still a good amount of suspense, especially the end, and a great opposites attract romance.
Kenzie came to Garnet Bend temporarily to escape a stalker. She didn’t intend to fall for the small town or the grumpy, introverted mechanic. Jensen, the grumpy, introverted mechanic, never thought love or relationships were for him, especially not with a city girl like Kenzie. But the tension between them was undeniable.
Jensen ends up tasked with protecting Kenzie when her troubles follow her from Denver. There are quite a few close calls, and that just brings them closer together. They spend time together in the cabin he’s building himself and when Kenzie is kidnapped, there is nothing Jensen wouldn’t do to save her.
The chemistry and tension between Jensen and Kenzie was hot. But the suspense brought the plot to another level. Jensen slowly brought Kenzie into the Resting Warrior fold and she quickly fit into the chosen family.
Overall this was a great book. It was exciting and suspenseful while still having the sweet but steamy romance I would expect from this series.
Montana Heat was a wonderful addition to the Resting Warrior Ranch world! In this story, we are given an opposites attracts, small town mechanic meets city girl with danger on her heals. Which is always right up my alley!
Jensen Chambers grew up in the foster care system and is pretty much of a loner except with his found family with the Resting Warrior Ranch. Kenzie Hurst is a big time real estate agent in Denver who has a huge following on social media because of her teaching seminars on the nuances of the real estate business. Kenzie had to leave Denver because of a stalker so one of the officers on her case suggested Garnet Bend as a place to lay low.
Even though Jensen immediately knew Kenzie was all city, he felt that attraction and once he caught on the danger she was in, even he was surprised how protective he felt towards her. It was wonderful how everyone rallied around to make sure Kenzie was protected.
Overall, Jensen and Kenzie’s story was a great read. The suspense definitely kept my attention. I absolutely loved how everyone just banded together because if one of their own was in trouble they always are there for one another.
This book is different because the main characters aren't part of Resting Warriors but they are family Jensen is quiet, he rarely speaks, he’s not into social scenes,he had a rough childhood,he however knows security and loves to work with his hands. Meeting Lucas was a bright spot. They maintained their friendship through the years Jensen has a garage where he works on cars and is a talented wood carver. City girl and real estate phenom , Kenzie, might be classy but she has a warm heart. City arrives in Garnett due to a stalker , immediately after she arrives she has car trouble. The sheriff sends her to Jensen, the town mechanic. When Jensen notices some suspicious trouble with Kenzie's car, he consults his friends at the Resting Warrior Ranch. They all agree that the sheriff needs to know(he knows about Kenzie's stalker problem). Loved the interaction with the Resting Warrior friends, also the appearance with Zodiac Tactical’s Ian. Thank you for the advanced copy. I am freely sharing my honest thoughts and opinions. Josie Jade, thank you for another amazing read Can’t wait for the next book
Montana Heat is the ninth book in the Resting Warrior Ranch Series by Josie Jade - mixing romantic suspense with plenty of emotional depth - and is set against the rugged beauty of Montana. Each book in the series can stand on its own, as each instalment offers a self-contained story - but when read together, they weave a larger, interconnected narrative that is both satisfying and heartwarming. The series excels in its portrayal of complex, resilient characters. From soldiers grappling with the scars of their past, to women overcoming personal struggles - the protagonists are richly developed and deeply relatable. Their journeys of healing, love, and redemption are handled with sensitivity and care, making it easy to root for them. The Montana setting is vividly described, adding a layer of atmospheric charm to the stories. The suspenseful elements are well-paced, which kept me fully engaged without overshadowing the emotional core of the romances. So, if you enjoy stories of love, resilience, and second chances, all wrapped in a suspenseful package, then the Resting Warrior Ranch series is a must-read. Happy Reading…
Jensen is so great yes he is a man of few words but his actions speak more than anything...how he is so kind to eldery people, how he acceptes bargains instead of payment ....he had a difficult childhood but became a great man for sure. One deserving of the resting warrior family so when he need help they will respond without hesitation.
I also loved how Jensen was attentive to protect the town and his chosen family.....but thankfully he saw beyond Kenzie's façade.
Kenzie is terrified....after a stalker hunts her she take refuge in Garnet Bend..she kind of look down at the small city at first....because it's not Denver...she is not planning to stay even less falling in love but when problems arise and Jensen step down to help she is discovering that there is more to the small place...and some things are invaluable....
I really loved the story but i sure hope Garnet Bend will be their center of operation in the future and we discover new characters like Hunter thta we can't help but get curious about so next book will be awaited
An unexpected return to Garnet Bend where the population is slowly increasing as love matches are found. Jensen Chambers has made himself a fixture, he owns the garage and is the towns mechanic. Jensen and Lucas (Resting Warrior Ranch) have been friends since they were fifteen so when the opportunity presented itself Jensen moved and started to build his own family and home. Kenzie Hurst is in trouble and needs a quiet, unlikely place to lay low. She is in commercial realty and she has caught herself a stalker. Out of the big city - Denver, Colorado to the small town of Garnet Bend, Montana. Of course, I absolutely loved this story for many reasons. The opportunity to go back to Garnet Bend, Montana is always a dream. It is a chance to see familiar faces, get an update on previous characters and see how everyone comes together to tackle the current problem. No one's skills are left rusting away with their transition to civilian life. As always, this book will welcome you in, keep you hooked, worm itself into your heart and leave you with a huge smile come the last page. Enjoy!
Jensen and Kenzie's story was another good addition to the Resting Warrior series. Jensen is a friend of the guys on Resting Warrior ranch. He's found his place in Garnet Bend. He's a local mechanic but his passion is his woodworking. Kenzie is a woman on the run. She's been having serious issues with a stalker and the detective in charge of her case has recommended that she leave Denver and her high profile career as a realtor and hide out in Garnet Bend. When she has issues with her car upon arrival, Jensen is who the local police chief sends her to for assistance. Kenzie and Jensen couldn't be more opposite if they tried but as we all know, the heart wants what the heart wants! As they get to know each other better, Kenzie's stalker tracks her down and the questions keep piling up...who is after her and why? Will Jensen be able to protect her before it's too late for both of them? Montana Heat was a good small town, romantic suspense story. It's told from dual POV and had laughter, suspense, and heat. It stands completely alone in the series.
Oh boy, another great read by Josie. This book follows Kenzie who is a successful commercial real estate agent who now has a stalker. She is relocated to the small town of Garnet Bend, Montana which is a far cry from her home in Denver.
As she is heading into town, her car starts acting up and the local sheriff sends her to the town mechanic, Jensen.
Jensen consults with his friends at the Resting Warrior Ranch about the very odd issues with Kenzie's car and they decide to contact the sheriff and let him know what is going on.
Things keep happening and Kenzie lets Jensen know about her past and why she is hiding out. Her ex is now in jail for assault against her, but she just can't believe it has anything to do with him.
Jensen becomes Kenzie's go to guy as he watches out for her and they learn to trust each other and become closer.
Then as more threatening messages and physical attacks happen, she can't understand how the stalker found her.
This book has lots of suspense and a twist that I did not see coming.
When you are being stalked and flee to another part of the country, leaving your job, friends and community of Denver… can you find safety and love in Garnet Bend, Montana? Can you find a ob and community and safety in a new place when you can not trust the shadows? Where everyone might be the unknown stalker after you? Kenzie is going to find out as she drives into Garnet Bend to stay with a car deciding not to work which sends her to the town mechanic who speak few to no words… on purpose. Jensen is comfortable in his own skin as both a mechanic and craving wood. Quiet and responsible, bonded with his friends out at Resting Warrior Ranch.. can they offer protection and friendship to Kenzie? Once again Josie Jade takes readers to this small town in Montana where friends become family and acceptable is the norm. Reader will think they know who the stalker is until they don’t. And then…. And then. A fun read in this wonderful fast reading series. Quirky characters, witty dialogue and twists and turns. Well done Ms Jade, well done!
When Kenzie is asked by a detective to lay low in Garnet Bend to hide out from a stalker so they can figure out who it is, she doesn’t expect to get involved with Jensen, the local mechanic who is part of the family of Resting Warrior Ranch. Jensen is attracted to Kenzie at first sight, but her “high maintenance” look has him rethinking any moves. Working on her car he finds sabotage and when she tells him her story, he’s all in to protect her and realizes she has depth, that is equally attractive. Spending time together, they get close but so does the stalker who has found her. Jensen will do whatever it takes to protect her and has the backing of his ranch family….will it be enough. Loved this read! No drama between them, sparks and fireworks, suspense, twists and turns and surprises that had me flipping the pages….and the ending…..perfect! *I voluntarily read an advanced copy and expressed my honest opinion*
Montana Heat Josie Jade Kenzie “City” Hurst was forced to hideout from a stalker in small town Garnet Bend. Jensen Chambers moved to be near to his ‘brothers’ at the Resting Warrior Ranch while, leaving security a year or so back to fill his days as the town mechanic and talented wood worker. As the men and women connected to Resting Warrior Ranch begin to protect Kenzie, Jensen tries hard not to fall for his opposite. She was not his type! If he said it enough it would stick, hopefully. This book has all the small town, opposites attract, ex-military protector goodness you could want with a dash of danger. Part of the Resting Warrior Ranch series but can be read as a standalone novel with hea. I really enjoy this series and this book did not disappoint. I loved the characters, not just Kenzie and Jensen but the whole supporting cast too. I received an arc of this book. 4 stars
I'm so glad to be back at the Resting Warrior Ranch amongst Josie Jade's wonderful characters one more time. Jensen and Kenzi's story is truely one of opposites attract and you will be rooting for them right from the start. Kenzi left Colorado leaving behind the city she loves, her business, family and friends to escape a stalker who was escalating. Jensen is a protector to his core and Kenzi tugs at his heart. Their chemistry is instant, the small town dwelling, reluctant to socialise, quiet Jensen who has never wanted a relationship and the outgoing, sociable, high fashion, successful business woman Kenzi shouldn't work but they do perfectly, it starts slow and heats up. But the danger is still stalking Kenzi and Jensen and the ranch crew are in race against time to discover who the threat is and save her life. Plenty of action, fabulous characters and people coming together to rescue someone who has become one of their own. Brilliant addition to this series.
Romantic Suspense That Will Keep You on the Edge of Your Seat
Kenzie was running from deadly danger. She, and the detective helping her, thought that a small town in Montana would be far enough, but was anywhere far enough? Who was threatening Kenzie, and how deadly was the danger from which she was running?
Jensen and Kenzie seemed opposite in every way. However, despite his reluctance, Jensen found himself drawn to the lovely stranger. He would find himself protecting her. Could he safeguard her from the danger that was hunting her? Kenzie was lucky that she landed amidst a group of heroes that would do all they could to protect one of their own. She never thought she would find a family in Garnet Bend, Montana, but Jensen and the Resting Ranch Warriors considered her their own.
This story kept me on the edge of my seat. I recommend it to those who like stories with mystery, plot twists, and deadly danger. This is romantic suspense that will keep you turning the pages.
Kenzie had to leave her home because of a stalker. She's in Montana laying low or so she thinks. The first day there her car is acting up so the sheriff sends her to Jensen who's the local mechanic former Army. He finds that it's not just a spark plug issue.
Not only does Jensen fix her car but with his friends that are basically his brothers he does his best to keep her safe. The stalker is escalating big time as story goes on. A snake to kidnapping.
I enjoyed this and really loved Jensen. His past and how he over came it made him strong and caring. He don't say a lot but when does its meaningful. Kenzie didn't take it lying down after getting taken she fought back.
I wasn't expecting who was behind part of it, but did guess one person might be. This was a bday gift from my sister. Wasn't expecting to be book 9 in series. Maybe later on I'll look for another book 10 for sure since had Hunter and someone from this book being redeemed.
He's a man of few words who prefers being alone. She's a city girl through and through. They are about as opposite as you can get. But when she needs protection from the escalation of her stalker, there is no way that Jensen will allow anyone else to be her primary bodyguard.
Kenzie was intrigued by Jensen from the start and it's no surprise that as they spend more time together, the attraction between the two of them also grows. She has questions about their differences, but then she has the perfect example of how being opposite can work long-term in her parents' marriage.
There were certainly some surprises the closer the story got to who was stalking her. I love that the Resting Warrior Ranch crew was part of this story. This story was full of suspense, danger, love, and found family.
I love visiting Resting Warrior Ranch. The family on this ranch with these guys and their gals shows that family is what you make of it. They have included Jenson Chambers within their group. It doesn’t matter that Jenson is grumpy, barely speaks, or appears standoffish (there are reasons for this). They love him anyway and it’s reciprocated. In comes city girl Kenzie Hurst and her stalker issues. They are attracted to each other which confuses both. In a way, Kenzie brings Jenson out of his remote and detached ways. What starts is a slow build attraction, to protection, to romance. Throw in some suspense, danger, and (as always) Josie’s curve balls you didn’t see coming and what you end up with is a great read you must get. I love the interaction with the Resting Warrior guys and gals, and a short appearance with Zodiac Tactical’s Ian.
