As an intern for the world's only supernatural library, it's my job to make sure nothing inside the books gets out.
Unfortunately, I suck at it.
Blame it on too much pumpkin spice, but one rainy afternoon, I somehow manage to conjure a literal book boyfriend.
Aries is fire. And I mean that in the very real sense of the word. Not just the ripped abs and a jaw that could cut steel, but the fire-breathing, flame-inducing, might-burn-this-freaking-building-to-the-ground kind of heat.
The attraction between us is undeniable. The danger? Even more tangible. Because the king of dragons isn’t the only creature I’ve unleashed.
In the hushed stacks of the library, something stalks.
No story is complete without a villain–and I’ve just met mine.
Unless Aries and I can reverse the damage, there will be no happily ever after. Not for us.

DRAGON UNLEASHED was a fun and fast-paced paranormal romance starring librarian Paige and a super hot dragon. Paige is chaos, and she unwittingly frees not only a dragon from the supernatural stacks in the library where she’s training, but some other, more dangerous creatures as well. It’s a race against time as Paige and Aries work to restore the library and put all the creatures back in the books where they belong. My full review can be found at the link in my bio!
I really enjoyed this one! Paige was such a relatable character — she’s not the greatest at her job, but at least she tries. Kind of. Aries was a fantastic counterpart to Paige and I loved his curiosity and fascination with Paige’s world. Their romance was sweet for the most part, though it did have its swoony moments. There’s also a bit of danger and action as Paige and Aries work against the foes that are stalking the library, and I loved the accompanying tension and suspense as the unknown tries to hunt them down.
All told, this was a quick and fun book with plenty of humor and romance. A perfect read for anyone who likes paranormal romance with a side of steaming hot dragon. Many thanks to Paper Myths and the authors for gifting me a digital arc for an Instagram tour!
This took me two days to finish & I didn’t want to put it down. This world is so magical & the concept is fascinating. There is spice in this book but nothing too crazy. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this & can’t wait to knock out the 2nd book in the series!
I really enjoyed the premise, a magical library and its guardians, but the quirky insta-love and lack of expansion on the world building left the story feeling one dimensional.
I read an arc. This was an interesting world. I just wanted more from it. So much magic to explore from the books and I wanted to dive in, but felt like the story held back a bit. In my opinion, being the first book, it was world building. When the action picked up I really enjoyed it. Mystery, adventure, and action. Both main characters are ones to like. Paige has a past you want to find out more about. Especially with that ending. Aries is very protective. I also want to find out more about his world. I love a good dragon/shifter.
Hate books that end in such a cliff hanger it basically begs you to read the next one… especially when the book has little to no storyline… stuck in a library for the entire thing. Boring. They throw in some spice just to save you from absolute boredom.
I absolutely loved this book. Paige has grown up living in a secret library that is for supernaturals only. And training to work there. She is kinda a hot mess, but you root for her, and just love her . She accidentally sets Aries free from his world, and it's the best worst mistake she has ever made. Now, if they can only figure out what else is going on in the library that everyone seems to be hiding from her. Aries is amazing and I have claimed him as mine

A unicorn, a gargoyle, and a troll walk into a bar. Just kidding, it’s a magical library and those are the wonderful side characters in Dragon Unleashed. Paige and Aries’ story starts off with a puzzling situation. The book slapping excitement continues with the discovery of past secrets and hard decisions that must be made. Just when I thought it was going to be resolved BAM, it took a turn. This is an enjoyable and fun read that will make you want to be a librarian.
3.5 stars, short & sweet loved the magic system and Halloweentown energy world building honestly skipped through the spice could’ve done without and focused more on char development
This book was really in between a 3 and 4 stars for me. Originally it was closer to 4 stars but the more I thought about it and digested the book, the less enticing the whole book really feels.
The premise of this book is girl who's an intern at a magical library accidentally unleashes a dragon from one of the books. Generally anything that escapes its book gets slain. And because she doesn't want to leave the library (only place she ever really known) and doesn't want to get the dragon she unleashed killed, she hides the dragon and tries to figure how to send him back without anyone knowing.
Her whole adventure of trying to figure out how to do so behind her friends & (psuedo)-father's back was interesting. But personally, I felt the chemistry between her and the dragon was lackluster. For him, his whole premise in really liking the FL is the fact that . She's interested in him really for his looks, and the fact that he's a book-stud.
If this story was purely just about these two, I would have probably would've rated it lower. But I really enjoyed her dynamics with her psuedo-dad and friends, the mystery of the library, the mystery of the FL and her origin, and what will happen after the big cliffhanger at the end of the story (not FL & ML relationship focused). Personally am iffy on whether or not I will be reading the next book in the series. Mainly because I find the FL & ML chemistry to just be boring.
Heather Hildenbrand & Jessica Wayne 🐉🐉🐉🐉 (4 stars/dragons)
Blurb: I accidentally freed the king of all dragons. As an intern for the world's only supernatural library, it's my job to make sure nothing inside the books gets out. Unfortunately, I suck at it. I love books that have dragons in them. However, recently most have been a miss for me, until this one!
I couldn’t put this book down! Paige and Aries are amazing! I loved how Aries is so curious about everything since he isn’t from this world. The library is so unique and I loved it! I can’t wait to read the next one! Highly recommend this one to all my fellow dragon lovers!
Magic, mayhem, and mystery are all in a library. What’s not to love? A steamy dragon shifter, an intern, and a supernatural mystery to keep turning pages. The author heats this up with forced proximity, fated mates, and only one bed. This story is steamy and full of action and mystery. Paige is sassy, funny and full of life but finds herself in trouble at work. Her life gets turned upside down and inside out, but answers and revelations do happen. I didn’t love the end of the story and won’t be reading further in the series.
The blurb of the hook hooked me instantly. What not to love the supernatural library, dragon shifters, and pumpkin spice.
Paige works one floor below her apartment in Boston. She is no stranger to this unique top-secret library, but she is just an intern and sometimes makes mistakes. The library is filled with paranormal and fantasy books that hold creatures in their tomes. I love her coffee addiction already.
Aries is trapped in royal purgatory. So he is a dragon prince in this fantasy land searching for his fated mate and waiting to take his rightful place in the kingdom and stave off war. But he hasnt found his mate yet.
I don’t see this going as planned, but then, the plot hasn’t been revealed yet. Ah, the literary catastrophe I was waiting for. Of course, he has to be hot, positive, protective, and, oh my, swoony. But he doesn’t exactly know where he is or why.
It gets steamy already, and there are many amazing quotes in this book. I like the new, adult language and the author's current wording. Even though this is set in a supernatural Library, it doesn’t read like a boring story.
This would make an excellent movie. This story has a little mystery and suspense, as well as a lot of steamy and angsty scenes. Paige is a hormonal mess with the Dragon Prince in forced proximity and only one bed. A strange solution to their issue presents itself, and for the girl who has never left the library, I don’t know what she will choose
While this is a great read for a book lover, I don’t love the ending. I thought it was standalone, but it is the start of a series. The autumn vibes in this book really were mentioned once and then done. The magic, dragon shifter, and mystery were interesting and kept me reading it, but I just don’t see why I would read further in the series.
Dragon Unleashed, the first installment in Jessica Wayne and Heather Hildenbrand's Accidental Alchemy series, starts off with a bang and keeps on rolling! This volume has so many twists and turns that your head will spin. I absolutely LOVE the library filled with dangerous books, just waiting to pop open and release themselves into our world. What a concept!
The storyline is unique, fast-paced and very well written, filled with magic and mayhem, twists and turns, adventure, danger, intrigue, subterfuge and romance. It is written so well, you can all but smell the ancient tomes. The characters are well developed and engaging. Paige is a great FMC. She has been at the library basically her whole life, after her book was destroyed, and she no longer had a world to witch she could return. Aries accidentally came out of his book, and Paige is trying desperately to return him to his world before anyone suspects that he has escaped. Both characters play well off each other. And it is absolutely wonderful watching their relationship develop. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed reading Dragon Unleashed, and can't wait to see where the next book goes.
Okay the end was actually pretty enjoyable so idk why I stopped reading other than I didn’t like how her last words were that she belonged to the library now which means she can’t go home with Aries. I think I read the description for the sequel too and I didn’t love that she became head librarian. If I hadn’t stopped reading it would’ve been a quick and easy read and I liked the relationship and romance and even the library aspect. I might read the sequel but I’m not really feeling like it rn. The wizard guy was a weird thing to put and having Hoc sacrifice himself to keep her from going into the wizard book was interesting. I wonder what book she came from and what her magic really is. Probably mentioned in the second one but I’m just not loving that she’s now head librarian even tho I know it’ll all work out in the end I was really hoping they’d just be able to go back into his book with no fuss. But they’re mates and he belongs in the book and her in the library. Also how badass of him to have killed all the creatures the wizard had released. A very strong dragon indeed lol hopefully is world isn’t too messed up once he finally goes back

I love the idea of the magic library, but it just wasn't fleshed out enough. The magic of the library was not properly explained, and neither was the magic the keepers and librarian used. Like why was the main character even doing a shift as a keeper if she didn't have the magic needed to "keep" the library? And if being a keeper was so prestigious, why would the position be used as a punishment?
The relationships between the characters were also problematic. Hoc and the MC had almost no interaction through the whole book except for a stern lecture in the beginning, and then all of a sudden he's her father and she adores him right at the end?
So much of the details of the library and its magic needed to be better explained in order for the plot to even make sense, and because they weren't, I have a hundred questions about how the story even happened that will never be answered. I just didn't enjoy the book enough to pay for a second one. Oh yeah, and I despise cliffhangers done the way this one was. It feels like a gimmick to sell the next book. It was forced and annoying.
What a fun new concept! A library full of books that have the potential to come alive … awesome! Most of the characters trying to escape their stories are dangerous creatures and the librarian apprentice, Paige, manages to release a dragon, Aries, after tripping and spilling her pumpkin latte. Or maybe fails to contain is a better term. Paige is one mishap away from having her memory wiped and being booted into the human world so she decides to keep her hot, happily not evil, dragon a secret while she tries to figure out how to return him to his world. Really fun twist on libraries and magic and watching Aries react to things like running water, daytime soap operas, and other modern conveniences add entertainment. This is book one, so it ends in a cliffhanger, but really worth the read. Definitely looking forward to the next installation because I love the concept and it’s well developed.
This is book 1 in the Accidental Alchemy Series. I suggest reading in order as this has one continuous timeline and will be confusing if read out of order.
First let me say how much I love these 2 authors. Their writing style is amazing and when they put their heads together and write a series, they are unstoppable! This series is no exception. I started the book and did not put it down until I finished it. I absolutely adored Paige! Her inner dialog had me busting a gut with laughter. The one liners are hilarious and when she meets Aries...OMG...So dang funny! This story was super easy to read and get into. A super fun read that I absolutely loved. I do have to say that I'm mad that I have to wait until October for book 2 but in the meantime I am going to pick up another series by these two ladies. Great job! I give this one 5 stars!
Paige isn't good at her job, but she tries her hardest. One mistake changes her life, and now she doesn't know how to fix it... or if she wants to.
Aries was minding his own business, doing what he does between the pages, when he suddenly finds himself in a world he doesn't understand with a woman he has a connection to.
Their jobs are intertwined now as are their lives because Aries isn't the only one who is loose in the supernatural library.
This story is action-packed, fast-paced, sexy, funny, and has all the important elements - a seductive dragon, raccoon-riding trolls, and a unicorn, not to mention wizards and magic and thousands of different worlds within the pages of the library's books. Paige and Aries have a magic of their own that blows up the pages. I can hardly wait for the next chapter in this exciting story.
This is the first book in the new Accidental Alchemy series...
• Shifter Romance • Fated Mates • Forced Proximity • Fish out of water • Protective Alpha Male
This was a quirky, cute shifter romance. The story moved quickly and was definitely enjoyable. I liked the relationship between Paige and Aries. I felt like there was some good chemistry and spice. The world building was decent, though I would have liked a little more, especially given how interesting the concept was.
The story is a part of a continuing series and does end on a cliffhanger with some questions left unanswered. I did enjoy it enough to continue the series once the next book is released. It's definitely worth the read.
I read this book in under 5 hours, as in my husband had to snap his fingers in front of my face to get my attention!
The idea of an old magical library as literally a collection of worlds and realms, with magical librarians. Throw in a little bit of spice and you have a true page turner!
I absolutely loved the dynamic between Aries and Paige, their banter between each other, and the blossoming love. Paige was so relatable with being quiet and clumsy with a sense of humor. I laughed multiple times while reading this book.
This book definitely left me with a major cliffhanger! It’s been a long time since I finished a book and immediately ordered the next one. If you need a better review, just get the book and read it! ❤️
DNF - quit at 41% Just because this wasn’t my cuppa, does not mean it was bad. Other readers may enjoy this book. I wish I had. I normally like books from this author, but something about the main characters, and the setting they’re in at the library, just didn’t work for me. I found myself putting it down too many times with lost interest. Each time picking it back up getting harder and harder to accomplish. At the 41% point when I put it down again, I just couldn’t bring myself to pick it back up & continue. It took me 4 days to finally give up & declare DNF.
At my age (62), life is way too short & my time is too important to force myself to read a book I'm not enjoying, especially when there are so many other books out there waiting to be read.
3.5 stars. This is basically a The Library of the Unwritten fanfiction. Only with more spice and ridiculous one-liners. But for what it's worth, I liked the characters and their dynamic, although the plot doesn't make sense in the most obvious places. For example, if only a keeper can bring Aries back to his world, and Paige is a couple of weeks away from becoming one, there's the solution to wait. But the things about Hoc and the revelations about Paige... I get that this is a series and they will be revealed more in latter books, but this book could have gotten into it a bit more. Paige is unqualified, both as an intern nor as a keeper... and she's definitely not the candidate to be the next librarian either; the only reason she is, is because she's the main character.

The vibes were good but the insta love was quick even for insta love in my opinion. The first time they kissed kind of came out of nowhere for me?? It was literally like a switch was flipped and BAM they're kissing. I had to read it again to make sure I didn't miss anything.
The library itself is super interesting though! Having keepers and books with characters trying to escape is very interesting. I wish we got to see Aries's POV and what he was doing to show up naked in the library especially to see his brother's and mother's reactions as well.
Not sure if I will continue this series though honestly.
I like the magic in One Dark Spark - the magical library and fantastical realms all contained within the books is fascinating. I also liked Paige as the fumbling, sort of ridiculous heroine. This felt like a fun, almost superficial world building component to the series. Even though I really like Paige and Aries together, it was hard to actually feel the love between them as opposed to whatever instant feelings come from a fated bond. As much as I enjoyed the book, I didn’t feel like it really dug deep enough into the characters or the explanations of magic. I will definitely be continuing with the series though, and I am excited to see where book 2 goes.
Entertaining and quite unique. The world building is spectacular, and the book boyfriend elements brought to life are sheer brilliance. Who doesn't love a broody dragon king who has finally found his mate!?
Paige is fun. She's quirky, and she basically embodies every book loving woman that exists. I loved her clumsy moments and her word blurting blunders. She's so easy to root for.
Aries is rocking those hawt protective vibes that make you just want to hang all over him. He's got a wicked humor, too.
Can't wait to discover what awaits us in the next book!
DNF 5% EXTREMELY unintelligent heroine. She's already on thin ice with her job but is walking around listening to spicy audio books on the job and making mistakes because of it. Her boss and I'm guessing surrogate father (she's been at this magical library since she was a child) is giving her one more chance before she loses her job. Since the premise of this story is her calling forth a dragon prince from a book I'm going to assume that she just keeps fucking up. I'll spare myself the headache.
