I broke their most important rule. Now they’re determined to make me pay.
The Infidels rule the town of Hexwood with an iron fist that drips blood and terror. Jonah Keller. The Savage. Their enforcer with an affinity for violence and bloodletting. Killian Carmichael. The Prince. The flawless golden boy hiding a dark side, wielding his fan club like an army. Asher Monroe. The Chameleon. A dangerous psychopath and a sadistic puppet master.
I came to this town, enrolling in Hexwood University, for one reason only. To find out what happened to my dad. And all roads led to the Infidels. They’re keeping so many twisted secrets in their closets full of skeletons, I won’t let my dad become another. I won’t stop until I get the answers I came for.
And they won’t stop until they wreck my world. They stalk, terrorize, and punish. I’m their newest plaything. Their darkest obsession.
Little do they know, that’s exactly where I want them. Infidels Reign. That’s what their subjects utter in supplication. We’ll see about that.
This is a Dark Reverse Harem College Bully Romance with scenes of M/M. The story concludes in BURN IT DOWN.
Leia writes edgy and emotional stories in Dark Reverse Harem Romance. She enjoys crafting flawed heroes with a dark side and strong women who hold their own.
this is a weird one for me. it's very entertaining. it manages to catch your attention and keep you invested in the mysteriousness of the plans they have. however, other than that? there's not a lot of substance.
our three main guys hit all the boxes, there's your unhinged psycho, there's your perfect boy who's crumbling under the pressure, and there's the leader who is always two steps ahead.
aurora is a "tough girl" and she is somehow smarter and stronger and better and bloodthirstier and whatever. that annoys me. she does not have to be the "perfect blend" of all three of them for them to be interested in her. i'm glad she can hold her own, but all of her interactions with them tend to feel like "anything you can do i can do better," which is fun the first time, but after that it just makes her feel like a blank page. she's just a mirror for them, reflecting their defining traits back at them. and that makes her boring.
the most interesting part about her so far is the fact that she has a small hoard of stuffed dogs, (very anita blake of her) and i wish she was allowed to be more of a whole person other than "tough bitch who likes to be roughed up." which is totally fine, i have no problem with that. i just don't like that so far, there's not much more to her that's explored or appreciated. granted, it's still the first book, so maybe in the next one, we'll get to see all of these characters get to evolve into being whole people.
This wasn’t great, honestly, but it damn well kept me reading and entertained! There were a lot of things just glazed over or not explained at all, and the characters… everything felt rushed and forced with them. But I couldn’t put it down. So I’m rating for enjoyment factor.
Not sure if I’m just not in the mood for this or if I don’t like it 🤔
Killian- Golden boy facade but is suppressing his “darkness”. Doesn’t like being played but allows Asher to do manipulate him anyway.
Jonah- like if Diesel from Den of Vipers was bi. Blindly follows Asher for scraps of his attention. Unhinged energy
Asher- the leader, so calculating he’s almost omniscient. “You can’t handle me” attitude. Sadist. Uses his friends like pawns in his plan, but because he likes them just a bit more than he likes everyone else apparently it’s fine.
Aurora- Literally a combination of all 3 MMCs. Extremely calculating, hiding her darkness behind a facade, eventually will release her unhinged darkness.
For a bully romance, they bullied her for a very short amount of time before she revealed her entire purpose for secrecy and Asher brought her into the fold. The plot unfolded very fast and I lost interest.
Well quite the start i guess. It was a quick read for me. I like that this was not some damsel in distress kind of story. Our MFC is tough. All the MCs are also good too.
Plot is fine and writing is lyrical. She doesn't bend to these guys but i feel something was missing. Idk. Spice though was hotAF.
DNF I won't rate it because I didn't get very far. The start kind of felt dated like the author is a bit out of touch with the times. Two young college types chain smoking cigarettes, not weed, just felt very 1990 something and not really a common thing today. The weird remarks about a high ponytail had me scratching my head and to just finish it off someone seeing "electric blue" eye at night from a distance was eye-rolling. You might find this one to be your thing but I just couldn't with it.
This first book was a 4, the second and third I'd rate a 3. So the series as a whole id rate a 3. My only complaint is a Spoiler so I'm going to add it at the bottom.
****SPOILER ALERT BELOW *****
The author kinda hinted to maybe Jonah and Killian having a moment but it never really happened. I was so wanting Jonah to experience Killians piercings in a mm scene lol. But instead Jonah took a moment with Caleb which kinda just threw me for a loop. But it was still good.

This book has all of my favorite troupes in it. The FMC is such a bada$$ and I loved her from the beginning. The 3 MMCs are like woah…🥰. The way their crazy matches her brand of crazy is the stuff dreams are made of. Also, the smexy scenes are so spicy 🥵 and Deliciously Depraved. IYKYK….🤤🫠
Pros: the story is decent, love that she’s not an innocent FMC and is skilled and trying to trick them as much as they’re trying to manipulate her. The sex is 😏
Smut is 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ so well written and great between all characters including the MM scenes
However that didn’t make up for the way the characters just dissolved in the very beginning…
Cons: what about this makes it dark? Barely a dark romance. Same goes for the bully aspect. They bully her for all of five minutes and then of course fall madly in love with her and turn into lovesick puppies. Doing whatever she wants…
She spills all of the really cool secrets in the first couple chapters, which was the whole point of her moving there, and trying to infiltrate them, and then she just tells them everything the first chance she gets??
It started out so good. The story, the mystery, her manipulating them and they don’t know, they bullied her and there was some great sexual tension. And then it just all fell apart. Very disappointing. It’s not a bully or dark romance book for me when it only lasts during their first encounter and then never again….
Really not sure how I can do this review. I'm into dark/bully romance, yeah this is one but it also has suspense. Great read even if the beginning had me ready to put it down. Glad I finished.
I loved almost everything about this book! The plot is engaging and not at all just there to be filler between the smut. I was actually excited to see what happened outside of all the VERY DIRTY and INTENSE smut scenes. The spice was fantastic and I was glad to see realistic emotions between the 3 MMCs. A lot of harem/reverse harem novels create this absolute fantasy (I know they're books and MEANT to be fantasy but bear with me here) of every single person being perfectly okay with sharing and taking turns with the one person of all their desires. But Lock Up The Darkness touched on the jealously factor really well in my opinion. And it did it without the constant, "no other man can look at her because she's MINE!"
There were only a few things that I didn't LOVE, but I didn't hamper my rating because OVERALL, I really enjoyed the story:
1. The verbiage can be confusing at times. There were a few different times that I had to re-read a paragraph to truly capture what was being said. Also, the consistent use of "f***ing well" before a lot of things irked me for some reason.
2. Asher's treatment of Killian. Asher is the bad boy we hate to love but love to hate. But his constant bad treatment of Killian absolutely drove me insane. The amount of times Killian came to him worried about Aurora and was brushed off ticked me off to no end and it made me despise Asher for a good chunk of the first AND second book. This specifically didnt effect my rating mainly because it did effectively progress the story a few times.
3. I would have liked to see more one on one time between Jonah and Aurora. With this being a reverse harem, I anticipated a lot more of her interacting with all 3 guys, but instead I felt we got more about Jonah and Asher instead of Jonah and Aurora. Dont get me wrong, I LOVED the bisexuality component brought to life in the Book, but Jonah seems to be a really complex character and the chapters we do have in his point of view were seemingly almost all wrapped up in Asher and little to nothing about his relationship with Aurora. Again, this didn't effect my rating simply because I truly enjoyed the bisexual component and it added to the complexity of Jonah a bit as well. It also didn't effect my enjoyment of the book itself.
I've already finished Scars Run Deep (book #2 in the series) and really loved that one as well!
Book 3 is out on March 18th and I CANNOT WAIT!

This book goes beyond the norm of rich entitled university aged students playing at being top dog in a closed environment. The ’Infidels’ are that but that’s not all that they are.
The reality is that the three young men are the ‘junior’ level of a criminal enterprise run by their fathers, heirs to the kingdom.
Enter Aurora, posing as a university student she’s turned up in their insular town ready to take them down. Everything is like a highly calculated game of strategy, until it isn’t.
There’s a LOT of violence, sex and mind games in this book. So it’s probably worth checking out the Tags for this book/ series. Overall it’s very well written and it’s a pleasant surprise to see young adults actively acting and reacting like adults. In the US those who are late teens and early twenties often appear to be seen as children, and that’s incredibly frustrating. I’m not sure if I want to continue the series as the inevitable relationship between the main characters progresses the way they treat each other just isn’t me. It’s not a matter of kink shaming because I simply don’t care about that kind of thing. Everyone is entitled to be themselves and do what makes them happy.
The best part of this book is that it makes you think beyond what’s written on the page.
So yeh I finished reading all three books in one day. I couldn’t help myself, they were just so addictive. Straight off the bat, the FMC Aurora is probably in my top 5 favourite FMC’s. She was so insanely badass and passionate about the people she loves. The three MMC’s, Asher, Jonah and Killian were sooooo hawt. My fave was Asher. His character was just so complex and his growth through the books made me emotional for real. Loved how much Jonah adored Asher, he was truly devoted to him and I’m glad Asher realised that pretty early on in the series. Killian was a shock the the system honestly. I do not expect him to be so loving and oft. His character really helped break up a lot of the rough and feral *activities* that transpired between the three of them and made sure Aurora knew she was loved. Plot wise, I loved it. The twists and turns and betrayals was just hitting me from all sides and I was having the time of my life. Highly recommend :))

Lock Up The Darkness by Leia King is a captivating reverse harem story that exceeded my expectations. Initially, I was hesitant due to the age gap between me and the characters, but the author's skillful storytelling and dark themes drew me in.
The book introduces four complex main characters and their intense journeys, which are expertly woven together. The narrative is gritty, suspenseful, and edgy, with a whole lot of sexiness.
I applaud the author for crafting a compelling tale that explores the darker side of human nature. If you enjoy stories with depth, complexity, and rough and hard sexiness with a whole lot of darkness, this book is definitely worth reading. Kudos to Leia King for an impressive story and some Whew!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Onto the next book.
Kindle. Flat four, high three. Slower burn but had some spice. Instant involvement and connection between love interests. Light bully and not that dark. Plot itself is pretty glazed over/weak being focused on just shy of enough and wasn’t the most attention keeping. Weak world building, choppy transitions and aspects of writing style I didn’t like. Relationship development makes up for it in my personal opinion having a good amount of conversation. But the actual relationship forward momentum is on the slower side with lots of build up.
I do think this book was missing a little extra something somewhere. Overall this book went a whole lot of nowhere but still kept my interest to want to continue. In general will probably be a pretty forgettable read down the road in my mind. Going to read second book.
Folds? Not a fan. Sopping hole?? Cmon, man. I can’t find any information on where this author is from, but a diction that’s maybe from the UK creeps up abruptly sometimes & helps validate the halting pace of some of the sentences that read differently in, well, the American accent I can’t help but hear… Even though I’ve read many other books by authors from that area and never had an issue. Anyway, this is an interesting and unique approach to a familiar story of adults inheriting their parents’ sins & secrets.
The standard rules of pacing when it comes to the gradual increase in physicality between the characters & usual drip feed of secrets are tossed out the window in an all at once kind of deal, yet the story is still one hell of a ride that takes the reader exactly where they need to go and ensures they have everything they need when they get there.
I really enjoyed this book. The plot is interesting and intriguing and the characters are pretty great too. Although the dynamics between the guys feel a little off at times, and Aurora just feels a little disjointed to me. I still liked ‘em though. Also, really liking how the character and relationship growth is fitting alongside the plots so well, instead of feeling like two separate things. The cliffhanger was intense, and I can’t wait to get started on the next book.
All that being said, this isn’t really a bully romance, and it’s only kind of slightly a dark romance. But I liked it anyway, so I don’t really care about that.
This book is really good but honestly, why haven’t more people commented on it? I honestly don’t care why you give it a certain number of stars, tell me what you liked about the book! It’s really dark and there’s not a ton of bullying and the stuff that could be considered bullying isn’t too bad compared to some other enemy to lovers romance. It is VERY dark, lots of blood play and MM, all consensual, however, I say you get the full list of trigger warnings and then be prepared to have heaps of it. Interesting plot and I can’t wait to read the other two!
First time reading this author and loved it. The FMC is the perfect character. She can handle herself and is not that annoying over the top with a bad attitude. Each of the MMC’s have their own unique personality that makes it hard to have a favorite. At first, I thought Asher was a little boring, but he is so intelligent and always has a motive for all his decisions. The storyline is creative and intense. Perfect amount of spice and a page turner from the very first page.
This took me longer than it should have to get through, and tbh I should have DNF’d it, but I didn’t want my very first book of the year to be a DNF. I often found myself thinking “what am I reading?” but not in a good shocking way. More so that I have no idea what is happening and it seemed either too wordy, or we were jumping around too much. This is also suppose to be a bully romance, and the “bully” aspect lasted about 2.5 seconds. This one just wasn’t for me, and I won’t be continuing to the next book.
This was a solid book! I loved the characters, their development, the entire plot and the pacing was perfect.
Asher, Killian and Jonah are complex characters that you cannot wait to learn more about. They have a lot of trauma from their dads (especially Asher and Killian) and are working towards becoming free of their parents influence and having the life they want.
Aurora is a heck of an FMC, this girl is physically and mentally strong in a way that you don’t see often. Her ability to bounce back from things, her intelligence and perseverance really adds to the story.
There is a fair amount of spice here but it doesn’t take away from the overall story.
It was at 41% that I still had no idea what the heck was going on.. At that point the FMC had already allied herself with the 3 MMCs to take down one of their fathers.
The author purposely wrote things to be very vague & mysterious.
Throwing out words like revenant dun dun dun and making the FMC battle to the death (almost) with Asher - why? Idk since he had to make sure Jonah was nearby so he didn't actually kill the FMC during said fight ..
I absolutely love this book, I dove in and never wanted to come out. The biggest thing I enjoyed throughout this entire book was how strong the female lead was. I love when female characters are strong and don’t take crap from anyway and that’s how she was. The 3 main male leads all had their own distinct personalities that made it easy to fall in love with each one. I’m excited to start reading the second book!
What a start!! This is such an intriguing story. I love how Ms King has turned some familiar tropes around to create a story quite different to others I’ve read. The characters are really strong and well defined with a very interesting power dynamic established from the start. Right now we don’t know what we don’t know - by the end of the book, there’s so much intrigue and a heck of a cliffhanger. I am very glad I don’t have to wait to get the next book.
This is a great book with Jonah Killer, Killian Carmichael, and Asher Monroe three guys. But the female main characters Aurora Blackthorn. They try to be her bullies, Aurora was, quote from the six chapter, fierce, unapologetic, fearless, resourceful, and she has skills. She can match all three men. They are at Heywood University with her Uncle Drew having Aurora. I enjoyed this story.
Aurora is trying to find out what happened to her dad three years ago and it seems The Infidels might have answers for her. Asher, Killian, and Jonah run Hexwood University and they are the sons of the head Infidels. Aurora wants answers and if she needs to play a part to get them she will. This is book one of the Walking With Monsters series and ends on a cliffhanger.
l don't know what it is about this book, but it had such a chokehold on me. I can't wait for the second book to be released on the 4th of March. It does say that it is a bully college RH, I found it light on the bullying and the college aspect but the mystery, secret society storyline had me hooked. The FMC is a bada$$.
I really liked this, the characters were terrific, and it moved fast.. There is some pretty graphic mm scenes, but the author does a really good job of making it apart of the characters story, and it's balanced out well. Definitely reading the next book in this series!
If you have any triggers do NOT read this series. Now for everyone else my god read this book. This is my first book by Leia king but it won't be my last. THIS BOOK IS TWISTED in the best way. It's hard to read at some points not grammatically but emotionally. Keep going it gets better.
